A-Day today, OK

Hey everyone. I'm here at Jordan-Hare Stadium, where your Auburn Tigers will begin their celebrated scrimmage in a matter of minutes.

I'll be updating throughout the day if something strikes me.

I don't anticipate a lot of front-line guys, people you really care about, to be on the field more than 20 minutes. That's the reality of A-Day. There will be a new Justin Fetsko crowned today. I wonder who wins this time.

Candidates:
Neil Caudle
DeRon Furr
Charles O.
Jonathan Vickers
Walk-on tailback (field)

2007 season awards were given out prior to the scrimmage. There were a few upsets.

Offensive player of the year:
Brandon Cox

Most outstanding senior football player: Cole Bennett

The first half was a mixed bag of offensive goodness/badness. Some good plays. Some bad plays. I thought Kodi Burns played a little better than Chris Todd, though Todd was really good during his final drive of the first half. He completed 6-of-7 on the drive to get his team to the 1. Then they started running. The drive ended with a missed field goal.

The score is Blue 23, White 0.

**30 yard FG from Byrum, 3-0
**10 run by Ben Tate (PAT good), 10-0
**8 run by Tate (PAT missed), 16-0
**Robert Dunn 28 pass from Burns, 23-0

You're wrong on the "hit of the day". Freshman QB DeRon Furr absolutely laid-out some poor unsuspecting defender (didn't catch his name) on a semi-busted pitch-out.

Yea, Furr is simply too much of a football player to sit out this year. He's so physical among all the other skills in his game. I wonder if receiver is an option for him? Or is he dead set on playing QB?

What about Carnell and his chances at playing again?

  3. I haven't updated this since halftime, which is just awful. I'm making amends right now.
