I'm not impressed with the offense. Still waiting on statistical confirmation of its mediocrity. I will say this -- ULM was losing defensive control during that final drive. Tackles were getting sloppy.
THIRD QUARTER STUFF
Auburn 24, ULM 0: Brad Lester scores on a 2-yard run. The drive covered 30 yards in three plays. Also, Mario Fannin gained 18 yards on a running play to open the drive.
BURNS INJURED: Not sure what happened, but Burns hurt his right leg or ankle. He's now in the locker room.
SMITH STRONG IN DEBUT: True freshman Eric Smith is running like a bull during this final drive of the third. He carried four times for 33 yards.
Auburn 27, ULM 0: Wes Byrum hits a short field goal. The drive covered 77 yards in 12 plays.
THE HALFTIME NUMBERS
Auburn total offense: 150 yards on 33 plays
ULM total offense: 95 yards on 35 plays
Kodi Burns: 4-of-8 for 15 yards
Chris Todd: 2-of-7 for 9 yards
ULM on third down: 1-of-9
AU on third down: 2-of-9
Tackle leaders: Jerraud Powers (6), Antonio Coleman (4), Craig Stevens (3), Zac Etheridge (3)
Take away Ben Tate's 49-yard run ... and Auburn has gained 101 yards in 32 plays. Yummy.
(The band is doing a bunch of Rolling Stones songs. Nice.)
Have we had a Fannin sighting yet? Haven't heard Rod Smith's name either.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'll assume that Tristan Davis isn't playing?
I have seen Mario on the field.
ReplyDeleteRod Smith caught that almost touchdown. He had a foot on the line.
No Tristan.
3 yds a play?
ReplyDeleteI mean on Defense, we are holding them to 3 yds a play.
ReplyDeleteNot bad.
On offense...uh, kinda like Al Borges from the shotgun so far. But maybe it'll get rolling in the 2nd after Tubs peals the paint off the walls in the locker room.
We Want Mario!! We Want Mario!!
ReplyDeleteNice runs by Fannin and lester. TOUCHDOWNNN AUBURN!!!! Finally
Brad Lester baby!
ReplyDeleteNice setup by the D once again!
bout dang time. atta boy bradley!
ReplyDeleteFannin's run was really nice. Chris Todd had a key block on that play. That would have been a 5-yard play without Todd's intervention.
ReplyDeleteDo the deep throws at least look like good throws.
ReplyDeleteUnlike the upward flying ducks of recent lore for AU?
Just curious.
That last one, the one Slaughter dropped, was a really nice throw.
ReplyDeleteULM defense is tired.
ReplyDeletedagummit. Kodis hurt
ReplyDeleteKodi is off the field during one of his possessions. It's his right leg. Could be cramps.
ReplyDeletedoubt its cramps. He took a helmet to his shin.
ReplyDeleteByrum misses a field goal. i didn't know he could do that...
Kodi Burns went into the locker room.
ReplyDeleteThat's not good.
ReplyDeletenope
ReplyDeleteThe full back is out.
ReplyDeleteSwinton, PPL.
Kodi.
We are beat up in this one.
Todd is throwing a LOT of really bad passes. Unless Kodi is injured, I expect he gets the start next week.
ReplyDeleteWell, I called it. The only reason this is a race is because Todd is Franklin's guy. Nothing against the kid, but I think it's clear Kodi Burns is running this better.
ReplyDeleteGotta say, JGT, you called that back in the Spring. Props to you!
Monroe can accomplish nothing on offense. They just got a first down ... first one since the first quarter.
ReplyDeleteThat was a run of six consecutive three-and-outs.
Yeah. The QB is all they have and he's getting smashed right now.
ReplyDelete(And by smashed, I don't mean like the people at the Delta house tonight.)
Eric Smith is impressive.
ReplyDelete280 yds rushing
ReplyDelete28 yds passing
Hmm...
and another FG
ReplyDeleteNice.
What does Franklin see in Todd that we don't?
ReplyDeletePretty liquored up here, but chris todd is definately not our guy. Haven't seen much of PPL after first drive.
ReplyDeleteClemson sucks really bad.
PPL is out with some kind of injury.
ReplyDeletei love your honesty ron. ;)
