... and you probably won't be happy.
1. USC (61) 2-0 1,596
2. Oklahoma 3-0 1,485
3. Georgia (2) 3-0 1,437
4. Florida (1) 2-0 1,414
5. Missouri 3-0 1,389
6. LSU 2-0 1,274
7. Texas 2-0 1,140
8. Wisconsin 3-0 1,076
9. Alabama 3-0 982
10. Auburn 3-0 958
Can't believe we didn't fall further. If MSU kicks a field goal then we lose.
ReplyDeleteI figured we'd fall out of the top 10 in both polls.
ReplyDeleteOur D is a top 5 team, but overall we aren't one of the 10 best in the country.
Jay,
ReplyDeleteThats the AP poll right?
it's week 3. polls really aren't relevant yet. we're still in a good spot so that if we have a few big wins we can move up big.
ReplyDeleteWe stayed at 9 in the coach's poll. Wisky jumped ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is still too early for polls. In two weeks Auburn will either be ranked in the top 6 or so or not ranked at all.
agreed james. at this point it doesn't mean anything. if we don't win the next 2 weeks then any poll is totally irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteAuburn in AP: 10
ReplyDeleteAuburn in coaches: 9
Jay, is there any sort of "payback" that the players get / give (offensive guys doing favors for defensive players) when things are as lopsided as the MSU game was?
ReplyDeleteSomeone owes Paul Rhoads a steak.
is the ap poll even relevant at all anymore?
ReplyDeleteNot that I know about.
ReplyDeleteI'd take some people out to dinner if I played offense at Auburn.
jay, what time can we expect sunday comments/interviews? inquiring minds want to know.
ReplyDeleteSure, we looked great defensively against a team that was no real threat throwing down field. I'm not even sure LSU will have enough down field potentail to whip up on us. As far as the polls...being as objective as I can possibly be, I'd probably have AL ahead of us by one or two places, but not in the top ten for either team....maybe AL at #14 and AU at #15. If I understand correctly, Bama has some fans that vote for the AP and they have been ranking Bama #2, #3,,,something ridiculous like that, so they get edged up even though they probably shouldn't be. To fix that problem, I'd say throw out the top two highest ranks and the top two lowest and then find the average.
ReplyDeleteNothing against the AP Jay, but it doesnt really count. The coaches is the one that counts. The AP poll is meaningless.
ReplyDeleteAuburn beats an SEC team on the road (yes, it was ugly, but it was a WIN against a conference team)
ReplyDeleteYet Auburn gets jumped by Alabama - who beat a directional Kentucky school at home?
That's some real respect for the strength of the SEC reflected in that poll...NOT!
