Campfire update

Thanks to everyone who participated from 5-6ish.

We'll build another campfire around 10. I'll send out a Twit (see under the blue birdie) if we start before then.

  1. Asked to describe "the best part of being at Auburn," Franklin said: "No comment."

He should have used that strategy more often at auburn. And hopefully he doesn't bring his MCP with him to his next job.

  2. Think about this ...

Auburn now is paying two offensive coordinators to not coach.

  3. yeah.. good call

the consultant thing might be a little over the budget

Wow, I leave to go eat dinner at my parents house and the whole world changes.

    ReplyDelete
  5. but if it's who i think it is that called for this beheading then he's got deep pockets

  6. Better than two head coaches not to coach....

  7. Lowder's bank stock has put a dent in even his budget.

  8. i still don't think he's shopping at wal-mart

  9. $6 million won't stop people from invoking Tuberville's buyout clause.

I feel very strongly about that.

I know the stock market is killing my 401K, so I'll take a consultant job. I'm sure my strategy of running the ball to set up the rare pass will be agreeable with the current staff.

How much heat do you think Tub has on him with the higher ups at Auburn at this point, since this was the hire that was going to change our offense around, now he's as quick as he came in?

    ReplyDelete
  12. we got to hang with tuberville, he's been through worse than this...

And don't you think tubs cleared this with the people who are ultimately responsible for firing him. He'd be an idiot not to.

  13. If Auburn goes 9-3, see, Tuberville will be branded a genius for ablating the cancerous area.

If Auburn goes 6-6 or even 7-5, see, Tuberville will be branded a loser for creating the cancer.

    So it's still developing ...

I'm sure he cleared it with them. However depending on if Franklin was truly Tub's hire, there could be some serious heat on him for hiring him in the first place.

So does this mean Kodi Burns is starting this week?

    ReplyDelete
  15. 6-6 or 7-5 either way his seat starts to warm up. At least without the spread we got a shot at 9-3 or 8-4

Depending on who is calling plays and how the team reacts to this, this could be a positive thing in the short term.

However depending on what happens with recruiting, this could be a long term negative.

  17. 6-6 and he's as good as fired.

    7-5? Probably fired.

    8-4? Maybe.

    9-3. Safe.

Since Franklin isn't known to keep quiet on anything, this could get ugly in the media unless he signed a gag order on his way out.

``They told me to get lost,'' he offered to an Auburn employee who watched.

He told someone else, ``I don't have any reason to hang around.''

    ReplyDelete
  19. Why would we hang with Tuberville? What does he get us for the $3 million a year he's paid? All we get is our hopes built up every couple of years when Tuberville plays up how great the team is. The 2004 season was an anomaly, akin to a blind hog finding a nut every now and again.

I'm tired of playing not to lose. I'm tired of wearing all orange all the time. I'm tired of Tuberville playing the same old song all the time. If he's unhappy he should leave and not let the door hit him on the way out. And yes, I said the same thing last year.

I'm sure Tuberville will find some sucker stupid enough to come be Auburn's offensive coordinator, but I pity the fool. This sucker won't be spending her Saturdays in Auburn. She'll be spending it at home and saving gas money, food money and money that would otherwise be spent on new Auburn attire.

  20. then he probably did what he needed to do to try and keep his job

  21. who's a better coach that auburn could get right now?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey guys, some interesting info a friend of mine just shared. There are flights coming in from: South Carolina, Mizzu, Texas, and Florida in planes are aren't regulars for the Au-Opelika airport. I am just saying....

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's the Tuberville way.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous6:42 PM

Obviously you've never been to that airport before. That many flights in at once would be a national disaster as they would all crash into each other.

I can't believe AU would fire a coach for an 8-4 season. Even if TT made a bad hire, look at all he has done for this program.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 9-3 is what I think it will take - and that is only premised by beating UAT - He can take a loss to UGA - but NOT UAT - its over for him if he does.

Ain't saying it's right - its just reality.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm here to give you the reality.

    That's the reality.

Tub had done some great things at Auburn, but one thing the powers that be are probably frustrated with is the lack of hardware that he's brought in.

I agree with Ron Mexico though, who can we get who is better?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I just watched the video on rivals. Disgusting. This is almost enough for me to excommunicate myself from the AU family. This was handled horribly. Regardless of his performance, there were better ways to do this. Franklin handled it better than I would have. Camera dude would be having a little eye socket trouble tonight if it had been me. I am not proud to be an Auburn man right now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. LOTS of better coach's out there Ron - problem is they are all young and unproven = we would have to take a chance on picking on and HOPE he is a better alternate..... But it may come to that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous6:48 PM

If they are young an unproven, then how do you know there are lots better coaches out there?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tub's was an assistant once wareagle rk - unproven and someone gave him a shot as HC. Muschamp is unproven and will get his shot - and may be a better coach - may not.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm not promoting Muschamp by any stretch of the imagination - just a name that came to mind.

With my mighty tide being down for the past 6 years Auburn should have more than 1 sec championship aight.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous6:56 PM

Worse job- Auburn OC or Raiders head coach?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah, I mean with teams like LSU and Florida lurking around the SEC, winning the the conference should be a cake walk without Bama around.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Prediction:

You will see the "River Boat Gambler" persona of Tuberville emerge the rest of the season.

When a animal is hurt or cornered - he pulls out all the stops. He is fighting for survival - he will let the Hide Go With The Hair....

Bad teams run trick plays against superior opponents - I expect hurt teams to do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous7:02 PM

I believe it was said who was better "right now"... unproven coaches aren't better right now.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous7:03 PM

No confrontation? BS. Then why fire him now?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous7:06 PM

I've seen many a person fired without any confrontation.

It was obvious, no matter what and who is at fault, this was doomed from the start and wasn't going to be able to work.

I probably would have waited until the bye week, but it's done now.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous7:07 PM

    is tubs addressing media tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous7:08 PM

I believe right now. They said after practice was over.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It is happening right now as we speak.

    ReplyDelete
  44. can i still get arkansas and 18 1/2 points? i'm not hating on anyone, but that spread looks silly right now.

    ReplyDelete
  45. and it didn't before?

    ReplyDelete
  46. we're averaging less than 18 points a game

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous7:13 PM

That line has looked silly all week long.

A team with 5 offensive TD's in 4 games should never be an 18 point favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  48. rm and rk, right you are. now it's just starting to look like money in the bank. (not that that is a good thing, right now).

    ReplyDelete
  49. If any of you have any money left in your 401K and the line stays the same, do like me borrow against it an put it on the hogs.
