    More of Longshore's sophomoric questions.

Is the President's name GOGUE (as in GO) or GOUGE (as in GOO)?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I can't spell.

He's calling that a statement of support?

hee hee Jay calling Jay J. out.

    ReplyDelete
  6. It's Gogue and I think it's pronounced gooj

    ReplyDelete
  7. Anonymous8:56 AM

Who "talks" to John Longshore in Auburn, really?

I was under the impression that no one in this town gave him the time of day.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Longshore's even more redneck Terry Bowden accent is horrible for radio.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sensi gets a shout out.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I thought that segment went pretty well overall. Barry knows what to ask.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anonymous8:57 AM

Thanks for the shout-out, Jay G.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Tee hee! Yeah Mr. Sensi!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I caught the end of it, and nice warning to Auburn if they are on the look to be very careful because everyone is watching.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well OK, let me see if I have this right. IF they have decided to let CTT go then you say they will already have a successor in place. This means they are already searching for one now, right? And I'm sure any Auburn beat writer (and others)will be sniffing around to find that out, right? So the possiblity of another Jetgate seems very real to me.

Just for a comparison, does Tenn have someone already? What names are floating around up there?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jay needs to give a shout out to 1 hottie a day on the radio...the love needs to be evenly spread!

    ReplyDelete
  16. dang, i missed it. i'm telling you, this work thing is killing me.

    ReplyDelete
  17. That was a hint that Mr. S will be inducted today. Can't wait. With my odds, I'll probably be busy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I tried to convince my 9th graders that we should listen to the radio spot...but they really wanted to learn monohybrid crosses in Mendelian genetics

    ReplyDelete
  19. I forgot about the RoF inductions...I will be sitting in car pool and won't be able to pull for my girl Monica :-(

    ReplyDelete
  20. This place needs more Monica's and Kristina's.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Are you doing Punnett squares, hornet? Cause I always thought those were kind of fun my self.

    ReplyDelete
  22. A lot of teams already have someone lined up when they give a coach the boot. Usually some level of contact has already been made.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wait, they are teaching monohybrid crosses to 9th graders now!? I want to be in charge of teaching my children about monohybrid crosses, and I won't allow it until I think they're ready. I can't believe my tax dollars are going toward that smut.

I guess that settles it. Private school, here we come.

    ReplyDelete
  24. we are doing Punnett squares - stamping out the genetics ignorance hourly

    ReplyDelete
  25. OK, Rk. So following that train of thought, if word of a secret meeting gets out and then Tubs beats Alabama and we have 2003 all over again. What do you think will happen? Will it be just like 2003 and Tubs gets another chance...oooo ooooo oooo and we go undefeated next year! Oh sorry, got carried away.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd love to see Jan Terri's pedigree....prolly not too many branches in that family tree

    ReplyDelete
  27. I read where Rodney Scott is being told that we will go back to good ole Auburn football. I get the impression that he is being told that when he comes to Auburn, that will be the case too. My guess is that if we are running the spread next season, it will be closer to the West Virginia spread than the Franklin System.

    ReplyDelete
  28. No, if something like that comes out again, given that we wouldn't then be spooking off the coach we are going after, we'd hire that person.

The press would be bad no matter what.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous9:26 AM

    I love the avatar RK.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Steve- What's the story with Aubie's eyes today.

Also, I believe that if they are going to make a change, it will be before the bama game to avoid the what if Tubs win scenerio.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That avatar is pretty cool, RK.

Maybe we hire Tony Franklin as head coach and Al Borges as offensive coordinator. They are already getting paid. Look at the cost savings.

    ReplyDelete
  32. yeah, Aubie looks hung over. or maybe he was up too late last nite at the campfire. even All-American mascots need their rest dude.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner cartoons were my favorite as a kid.

Plus I think the offense that we have this year was designed by the ACME corporation.

    ReplyDelete
  34. eddie, this has been a long and stressful week. I need a football game to watch.

I am just about convinced that Tuberville is history, but my opinions vary. I don't always agree with everything I say.

I don't think they would make a change before the Iron Bowl. If Tuberville somehow finds a way to beat Alabama for the seventh time in a row, they would end up looking like the idiots of the year, and imagine the pressure on a new coach coming in. Hey, the guy we fired has a seven game winning steak of Alabama. As long as you match that, you are doing okay.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous9:35 AM

ACME Offense - Works great in practice sessions! Sure to blow up when you need it most.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Can someone help a girl out and fill me in on what was said on WMSP this morning? I can't pick up the station in B'ham and since I'm at work I can't stream it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hmmm, maybe we are running the tuberspread, a lighter, less filling form of the spread.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous9:38 AM

Just Win - email me at mr_sensible_auburn@yahoo.com and I'll fill you in on it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I didn't hear the radio this morning either. From the comments, I assume Jay G hypothesized on them already having a replacement in mind.

Coach, we have decided to have your office remodeled. Would you mind getting all of your things our of there before the Iron Bowl? We really would like it done before you get back.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous9:43 AM

    This is funny.

    SABAN CHEST BUMP

Wonder if Tubs will chest bump Kodi Burns this week?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mr. S that picture looks like he's kneeing the guy in the goods.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you Mr. S. I just sent the email! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I didn't hypothesize that Auburn already was seeking a replacement!

I said if Auburn elects to fire Tuberville, it will have a replacement lined up before making the announcement. Has Auburn already made a decision? I don't think so.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Auburn doesn't need to fire Tubs and not have someone already lined up. That would be a nightmare...

    ReplyDelete
  45. But Jay, didn't you say you had a source that said they would fire Tuberville on Halloween and replace him with Butch Davis? And you said since it will be halloween, they will say, "BOO! You're fired."

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sorry Jay, I think my conjecture was mistakenly attributed to something you said.

I was just asking opinions on what would happen if another jetgate broke.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I heard it from Jan Terri.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Jetgate Part Deux- Tubs holds Auburn Randsome for 1 miiiiillllllliiiiiiooooonnnn dollars.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jan Terri....you just can't stop her!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Never watch Jan Terri late at night. It leads to nightmares.

    ReplyDelete

  52. Ransom - Give me back my son! Mel Gibson with some serious acting there

    ReplyDelete
  53. and then there are those who are phenomorons.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think Jan Terri is on the Board of Trustees. There is the "Fire Tubs" bloc, the "Give Him Another Chance" bloc, and then there is the, "Jan Terri" bloc led by Jan Terri. Not sure what their stance is on the issues, but she is probably a Tubs supporter. She said his blue eyes are "Clear enough to fill a swimming pool."

    ReplyDelete
  55. good morning all on this historic HABOTN day

    ReplyDelete
  56. a truly memorable line I might add. pure poetry.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I really think we got a good chance to win this week. From the comments I read, we may have had our best week of practice yet, the players are excited, and apparently they like the changes being made to the playbook.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Steve- Sorry, I had to laugh out loud. Is this a statement that is posted every week? :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous10:07 AM

In honor of Phred's Rasta Tommy

"I Fired the OC" (to the tune of I Shot the Sheriff)

    I fired the OC
But I still paid him his salary
    I fired the OC
But I still paid him his salary

All around in my home state
Fans are trying to burn me at the stake
They say I am once again guilty
For the death of our offensive productionality
    For firing yet another OC

    But I say:
    I fired the OC
But I still paid him his salary
    I fired the OC
Because his offense was offensive to me

    Bobby Lowder has always hated me;
    For what I don't know.
Every time I lose a few games
He said, fire Tubs before the Iron Bowl
He said, fire Tubs and get Booby Petrino

    I say:
    I fired the OC
His offensive was offensive to me
    I fired the OC
That makes three OCs fired for me

Freedom came my way one day
But I decided not to go
I stayed behind to coach some more game
    In 2004, I went 13-0
    Finshed #2, went 13-0

    I fired the OC
But I still paid him his salary
    I fired the OC
But I still paid him his salary

Pride has got the better of me
I hang close to the Boys of BBQ
One day I will finally go too far
And there'll be no one left to hire
And there'll be no one left to fire

    But I say:
    I fired the OC
But I still paid him his salary
    I fired the OC
But I still paid him his salary

    ReplyDelete
  60. Crap eddie, I knew I had read that before somewhere. Geeze, at least my opinions are consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  61. just for phred:

Winning is about conquering and mastering yourself first, and conquering and mastering your opponent second.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Cobra- Your the man. Jay G needs a special section for you along with the ROF, Feeling the Heat, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  63. When I was in high school, we were told to never conquer ourselves before a game. Gives you jelly legs.

    ReplyDelete
  64. That is cool Cobra, but is Booby Petrino a typo or a Freudian slip?

    ReplyDelete
  65. "For the death of our offensive productionality"

    Crack. Me. Up.

Made up words make me laugh...

    ReplyDelete
  66. Taylor- That explains what they do at halftime then.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jay, I stand by all the mis-statements I have made, but what is the Tuberville leaving index at now. I have been anxious to see whether Jacob's comments sent it in the direction I hypothesize.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anonymous10:13 AM

    cobra,
    That was perfect.

    That was impressive. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Jay officially lists 75% but internal conflicts have it at 50%.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks eddie. I had assumed it would rise after Jacob's "show of support". Playing the Tuberville lottery is pretty tough.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Possibly a more relativistic question would help me get a better idea. Which is more likely, Tuberville staying at Auburn of Pail Finebaum joining Hair Club for Men?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Tubs staying at Auburn is more likely.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous10:23 AM

    Glad you all liked it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I just read where Tuberville and Fulmer are the last two SEC coaches to go undefeated. That is truly ironic.

I also just realized that Houston Nutt has probably been the most successful coach against Tuberville, other than Les Miles.

The demise of Auburn and Tennesse have made it where the SEC may not have enough teams to fill the bowl slots this year. That is ironic since South Carolina was left out in the cold last year.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Was last night's statement the kiss of death?

If not, why make the statement?

Was is to be gained from making that statement at all?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous10:33 AM

This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I don't think it was a kiss of death. It was a "I don't know, leave me alone!" statement.

    ReplyDelete
  78. mark, I see making the statement to try to get people to stop asking questions, but what troubled me was the comment about the last four games. I may be reading too much into it, but I don't think that bodes well for Tuberville.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous10:34 AM

Nutt has gone 5-5 with Tuberville the last 10 years including a couple of wins in Auburn with supposedly "less-talented" teams.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Mark, I think he was being asked about Tubs A LOT and felt he needed to address it. If he had kept saying no comment then that also would have been construed as the kiss of death. To me it was a pat answer like "well we just take it one game at a time" so really not an answer at all but something that had to be said.

    ReplyDelete
  81. what "last four games" statement are you talking about? Are you talking about the generic "looking forward to the next four games" statement he made? To me, that was just cookie cutter looking ahead not behind coach speak. Nothing I see there to read between the lines on.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I over reacted when I saw the JJ statement. I believe most have got right on hear that he was making a statement out of neccessity.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anonymous10:40 AM

Tubs was 5 - 4 vs nutt while he was at Arkansas and tubs at auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous10:41 AM

Yep, but Tubs lost one against Nutt while he was Ole Miss.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Another tidbit of ironic irony is that if we are not bowl eligible for a trip to exotic Birmingham, the team that may end up making that journey is Troy. Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Looks Guys,
My attitude is this the end of the season will take care of itself... im only looking towards this week and Ole Miss....
"Someone once said we should plan for the future but live for today".....

Jus Win Baby this freaking saturday!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. aunmobile, I like the attitude, although I am a bit skeptical. I was concerned about Ole Miss early in the season. Now that we are offensive coordinator challenged and running the tuberspread, I am very concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Steve- Say with me as you look in the mirror. I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog gone it, people like me.

We will win 2 more and be bowl eligible. I just see it and feel it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous10:50 AM

That's why I said while at auburn.

That 98 razorback team was clearly better than tubs ole miss squad.

By the way, I never bought the whole less talent thing at Arkansas anyways. They have more NFL players each year than people realize. If he had less talent, that's nutts problem for not capitalizing on being sandwiched between Texas and Louisiana plus being the only in state school.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I agree with you Steve FC, early in the year I viewed the Ole Miss game as a trap game, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be a "must win" and we would be sitting at 4-4.

    ReplyDelete
  91. eddie, if we don't beat Ole Miss, the only way I see us heading to a bowl is if we buy tickets. If we can't beat Ole Miss, beating UGA or Bama looks very unlikely.

I am encouraged that they are now talking about expanding the playbook. If you watch an NFL game, sometimes that give you a breakdown of where the passes and completions have been.

Usually the field is divided into 9 quadrants. There are short medium and long passes as well as left, middle, and right. We could learn a lot about this offense by looking at that grid. 90% if our passes are probably in 3 or 4 of those locations. Until that changes, I don't see us being successful.

I am also wondering about runningbacks. Of the ones we have, only Tate has lived up to expectations. I expect him to always be a solid player, but not a superstar. Lester has been very disappointing. Davis has been, well, Davis. Fannin has been another disappointment.

If we see significant improvement in spreading the ball around, the running game will likely improve and we may have a chance, but until then, I am skeptical.

    ReplyDelete
  92. aunmobile.....I like the way you think.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Steve- I see your point. If we throw to the short middle quadrant, it will always be to Trott :). We need more to the middle quandrants if you ask me.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Slush Fund for Prez! Vote Tuesday!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I agree eddie, especially in the second half. If we start hitting some passes behind the linebackers, they won't be so eager to creep up.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I would like to propose a theme song for the next game. Billy Joel, You May Be Right. It just seems appropriate somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Thanks Steve, now I have that song stuck in my mind. :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Hahaha, glad to help out Just Win AU

    ReplyDelete
  99. I like the theme song Steve.

    ReplyDelete
  100. In honor of Ole Miss week, I have changed my profile picture again.

    ReplyDelete
  101. it's Ole Miss week? really?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yepp. It is Ole Miss week. My picture is now for Steve.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Who are these Ole Misses you are speaking of?

All of your Rebels belong to me!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Anonymous11:46 AM

    Eddie,

Regarding the new pic..... I think it moved.

    ReplyDelete
  105. It did. I have a new picture representing the mood of the HABOTN Nation.

    ReplyDelete
  106. well doesn't look like alot is going on new today except the very anticipated RoF inductions so let me say what up kristina. Nice to see the ladies gettin involved..very nice actually.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Bwahahaha, I love it eddie. I had considered a picture like that, but now that we still have Ole Miss, a must win game. Of course, West Virginia was a must win game. And, well, the rest of them are just about must win games.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Sup all? Heard Jay's segment on 740. Came after a pretty good call 1'd would have to say...

    ReplyDelete
  109. Biscuitator, still no luck with the "i" key?

good luck with the computer. so, you're saying to avoid Dell, right?

    ReplyDelete

    Ask Steve Jobs about it.

    ReplyDelete
  118. This may just be me but I think that every Auburn fan (true AU fan) that is negative should step back and remember the Auburn football they grew up with. Well maybe this is just me.

I can remember waking up on Saturday mornings and asking my parents who Auburn was playing. Then I'd ask if we were going to beat them. My parents always said, "Let's hope so!" or "YES!" And even if Auburn lost, there was never any negative talk....no player or coach bashing. Just love for Auburn and an attitude of "we'll get 'em next time."

Now all I ever hear is unrealistic expectations that sound a lot like the team across the state's fans. I do not care if Auburn wins another game this season. I will get up every Saturday morning, put my Auburn gameday shirt on and if I'm in town, go to the game and get chills watching the eagle circle the stadium as 80,000+ fans "Waaarrrr Eagle" him to the ground. And I will always cry when the pre-game video comes on because every player they show is somehow a part of my life now.

I've been there through all the good and bad times and I always will. Why? Because I love Auburn University! Period!

    War Damn Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Great post shesaid. Agree 100%

    ReplyDelete
  120. touche shesa1d

    ReplyDelete
  121. I don't believe that anyone being critical or that has higher expectations that you do, loves Auburn any less following a loss than they do following a win.

I'm 32, the Auburn football I grew up with as a kid was a team that won games, and when we did lose it was a hard battle, but the team was almost always well prepared.

You didn't hear much player or coach bashing then because there weren't multiple 24 hour TV & radio networks covering sports, talk radio hadn't made it as big as it would and the internet was only in Al Gore's imagination.

Times change, how people react changes, expectations change.

I don't feel like my expectations of consistant play and a trip to Atlanta more than twice a decade (and I'm not talking about the Chick Fil A bowl) is unrealistic.

My feeling that way doesn't make me any less of a "true AU fan" than anyone else.

Trust me, I love Auburn University for many reasons other than just the football program...and I love it despite expecting more than just beating Alabama.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Anonymous1:45 PM

Totally agree with you RK. As an alum, I don't feel any less of an Auburn man just because I have expectations of our programs, academically and athletically. IF these expectations are consistenly falling short, then they need to be evaluated, and then if deemed so, changes should be made.

Look, I know Tubby's record. I'm not even saying he should be fired. What I am saying is that I believe most Auburn fans agree that we should be winning the West more often, not the conference, the WEST. And please spare me the "tied for the West title" talk. If you aren't in Atlanta, you didn't win the division. End of story.

Going to the title game once every 3-4 years is NOT asking too much. If it is, then I want Auburn to stop charging me $60 a ticket for the nosebleeds.

The same thing goes for our academics. If I wasn't sure that students weren't getting a great education, I'd be more upset about the tuition hikes. As it is though, I'm heading back there for grad school because I KNOW of the education that I will get.

Because I said this, does it mean that I don't love AU? It couldn't be farther from the truth. It's because I love Auburn (more than it will ever love me by the way) so much that I want to see it succeed on a national level in every category. To be honest, I'm sick and tired of being told what an "Auburn man" is or isn't. A lot of the people who say that have never set foot in a classroom at AU. To me, an "Auburn Man" simply loves the school and everything that goes with it. It doesn't start and stop with football. But an "Auburn Man" should also stand up for what he believes in, whether the opinion is popular or not.
