We discussed some guy named Tim "Punky" Brewster, Ben Tate (pictured at right after being asked about his diminished role this season), David Housel, Jay Jacobs' job description, Tommy Tuberville's disposition and Clifton Robinson's deposition.
Just kidding on the last one.
Sorry I missed the campfire...
ReplyDeleteSome of us have to work... :-(
work?
ReplyDeleteyeah, I too resisted the urge to bring up the chat during work. I am making progress.
ReplyDeleteTHE WORKIN MAN IS A SUCKER!!! WOOHOOOOO!!!! Sorry yall missed the campfire. Although i do think we decided that next year pat dye would coach and carrot top would do the press conferences. Or maybe i decided that, either way, it's a lock like knox staying at wr coach.
ReplyDeletealso sorry i missed the campfire im a bad human
ReplyDeleteI posted this somewhere else, but it went into outer space I guess. How do you post a comment during a campfire? I found the box to type in easy enough, but never did figure out how to post.
ReplyDeleteI'll believe that when my inside man tells me. I will never reveal who my inside man is, either.
ReplyDeleteOK, my inside man is Brad Lester.
ReplyDeletepress enter anonymous, after you type your response
ReplyDeleteMichael - In case I haven't said so lately YOU CRACK ME UP!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous if you found where to enter the text at the Campfire you just have to hit enter. First you should go make yourself an account here https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount to log in the the blog and then go to www.chatroll.com and create an account.
what did Tater say?
ReplyDeleteNOOOOO!!! I hate work!!!! Why oh why did the campfire have to take place between the hours of 8-5.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS COACH TIM BREWSTER
ReplyDeleteJust sharing information.
Sorry I couldn't attend the campfire. Monica hit me over head with something and I'm just comming to, or at least that's what I've been told.
ReplyDeleteI'm still shocked so many think Tubs won't be backed next year. $6million in this economy? How on earth does one get all the faculty to buy in (figuratively, of course) and them not raise a huge ruckus? I guess it will be ok if some wealthy booster pays for the buyout and donates = or > amount to the university.
ReplyDeleteCurious what y'all's thoughts are on the buyout. Seems like most of the talk is on who the next coach might be, or maybe I was too late to hear the buyout plan.
I know everbody thinks the economy will have something to do with AU's decision. Let me be clear ... it won't. What it will do is give the national press one more reason to make us look bad. That's it.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed y'all today. It was my fault. Poor planning on my part. I apologize to the hottie nation. You should boo me. I would boo me.
Eddie- You should see the tire tracks across my back! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYea, I missed the campfire. Sorry, but I am a bad bad man. I've been very busy with work this week.
ReplyDeleteAs for attending the campfires, it is really cool to expand the campfire window it. Makes it easier to keep up with. There is a button, I believe in the bottom right that does it.
As for Tuberville leaving, frankly I don't think it will happen. The stars aren't aligned correctly and I do believe Tuberville will employ the same voodoo witchdoctor that saved his butt in 2003.
eddie4au: love that t-shirt design. War Eagle! West Ham all the way, baby ;-)
ReplyDeleteI work with an ex-player from the mid 80's and thought he had an interesting take on current events. He says IF AU loses this game it shows the program has totally tanked and CTT is gone no doubt. He feels in that sense this game could be the X factor in Tubs' fate. I had not approached this game in that sense but thought it was an interesting take. Any opinions?
ReplyDeleteWe are playing UT-Martin. Should we loose this game, I don't think there is any way Tuberville could be more fired.
ReplyDeleteBut wait, Knox says everything is fine.
Remember, in Knox we trust.
Steve, do you feel he'll overachieve these last few games or do you think they'll hang in there with him and he'll right the ship next year now that kodi has some playing time.
ReplyDeleteI don't think tubs did quite good enough of a job circlin the wagons and shy of him really bailing us out on our final two outings of the year i see him as a dead man walkin. The one scenario i do see him stayin in is if he clean sweeps his offensive staff, if not he can bbq with all those guys he wants to cause they'll all have some free time and a lil cash for charcoal.
Seriously, vandy, ole miss, arkansas, and the mess that was a win in starkvegas?? Only the coming 3 weeks can make it worse if you ask me, we'll see what his voodoo does though.
Monica:
ReplyDeleteThat was a long video.
I can see him at AU, if he's prepared to leave Minnesota. I'd add him to the short list.
BinOBA, Tuberville will be judge on more than one season and getting rid of a very successful offensive coaching staff doesn't make sense. I can see some tweaks and wonder about Knox, but I doubt you see wholesale changes. We would be idiots to get rid of Gran or Nall. They are a couple of the best at their positions.
ReplyDeleteIf we were to loose out, I think CTT might be gone, but I doubt that will happen. UT-Martin shouldn't be that big of a deal. Also, I think we will be competitive in the Iron Bowl. No, we will likely not win, but I bet we see significant offensive improvement as the season wraps up.
I do think that the decision on a new OC will be the biggest decision Tuberville has had to make at Auburn. There is no was he can fire the next OC, at least not during the season. Tuberville better choose carefully.
So Tim's a gopher? I wonder if anyone will understand him, down herer at the Auburn dontcha know.
ReplyDeleteSteve FC - thanks for the hint about the window for the campfire, i was having a tough time keeping up.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome mrtommyd. I have trouble keeping up at campfires too. I just try to type lol or rotflmao occasionally.
ReplyDeleteIf we lose to UT-M???? If I could crap gold bricks I'd be rich. I don't care if we're one of those Washington teams, the game this weekend is a gimme. So the statement isn't Tubs is gone if we lose to UT-M. Instead, the ?: Is Tubs gone if we lose the last 2?
ReplyDeleteConversation can roll right along if you don't have the long window up.
ReplyDeleteI make it long on the blog, though.
or should I say Tub$$$$$$$$$$$$$
ReplyDeleteJay - ummmmm - yeah.
ReplyDeleteYou betcha! Wink.
ReplyDeleteTim Brewster before the Gophers
• 2005-2006: Tight ends coach for the Denver Broncos.
• 2002-2004: Tight ends coach for the San Diego Chargers. Assistant head coach in 2004.
• 1998-2001: Tight ends coach at Texas.
• 1989-1997: Tight ends coach, special teams coach, and recruiting coordinator at North Carolina.
• 1987-1988: Head coach at Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, Ind.
• 1986: Graduate assistant at Purdue.
"Tim Brewster has learned under a long list of winners, including Bill Parcells and Mack Brown (say what you want about Brown, but the guy built UNC into a 10-1 team - and UNC is no powerhouse). Through Tim's experience in the college game, he garnered the reputation nationally of being one of the games top recruiters. In fact, recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said this morning in an interview that "He's the best recruiter I've ever seen… he has a drive. It's almost like he has a chip on his shoulder. When he loses a kid, he gets upset."http://illinois.scout.com/2/321990.html
I don't think Tuberville is gone if we lose the last two games. I do believe he will definitely be on the hotseat next season.
ReplyDeleteI also believe he will have to give the new OC some flexibility with his staff, so the barbeque boys could be in trouble.
Chris - I figured nobody but you would watch it. lol Yep, I like him more and more.
ReplyDeleteWell after what happened with Franklin, I wouldn't be surprised to hear any new OC hire make sure he's able to bring some of "his" folks to the staff. Which I'll ask again, since I know it's been asked, but I'm not sure if I was patient enough to read the answer, is it normal for a coordinator to come in and not bring any of the folks that he's worked with to implement their "system".
ReplyDeleteI do not see homecoming this weekend as a gimme. Sorry, just goin on what i've seen thus far this season. I wouldn't be afraid to give nall his walkin papers and call stacey searles at uga. Gran is a great recruiter. I just don't see us able to bring in an OC with no assistants being replaced, especially the wr and ol coaches. I do think our greatest chance this year for a victory lies against alabama.
ReplyDeleteGot to love Marylands. I would have loved to have been in the conversation when they picked their mascot. How about a dog? Nah. Hmmm, a tiger maybe? Nah, been done. How about a snake? Nah, that is too evil. How about a rabbit? Nah, the helmet logo woudn't good. Wait, what about a turtle!!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I suspect the same guy that decided on Maryland's mascot moved to Oregon afterwards.
MrTommyD: I don't recall Chizik or Muschamp taking any of the assistants to TX
ReplyDeletePeople on the left coast have the best, or should I say weirdest nicknames. The Banana Slugs, the Anteaters, Ducks, and who wouldn't want to be a Beaver?
ReplyDeleteDid whatzhisname at Bama bring any in from the west?
ReplyDeleteThat's why I laugh every time at the USC Oregon State game
ReplyDeleteI don't believe offensive coordinators usually bring in their own staff. They might bring a coach or two. Head coaches are a different matter. A change in head coach would likely mean a lot of new coaches.
ReplyDeleteI love the Beavers.
ReplyDeleteI have an Oregon State t-shirt. He sure is an eager-lookin' Beaver.
Gotta love them Beavers.
ReplyDeleteSteve from Columbia: don't forget The Wave at Pepperdine. You've just got to love how the little toddlers cozy up to Willie The Wave:
ReplyDeletehttps://admin.xosn.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=18500&ATCLID=1524493
I am going to have to get me an Oregon State shirt the next time I am out there. Looks like it will likely be in late January. Believe it or not, the weather isn't horrible there that time of year.
ReplyDeleteBeaver College outside of Philly is an all girls school, or was 30 years ago when I bought a T-shirt there.
ReplyDeleteI see I am not the only Hottie that has to work.....seems like I miss all the good stuff!
ReplyDeleteBe careful...That beaver will bite you.....
ReplyDeleteTim, Willie the Wave is one scary mascot. Thanks, I have never seen that before.
ReplyDeleteOk so it seems that its not a common thing that OG's bring many folks if any with them. Which makes me think Mr. franklin really got in over his head with the jump to Auburn. It also gets me frustrated that the powers that hire didn't his "deer in the headlights" look until it was evidently too late. So I guess this means we're screwed for this year, huh?
ReplyDeleteOG's - I guess that would be a freudian slip, not a typo
ReplyDeleteBless y'all hearts.
ReplyDeleteJay...thanks for the synopsis...I probably couldn't have kept up with the campfire anyway....too slow
ReplyDeletemrtommyd, I think Tuberville made a mistake when he told Franklin he couldn't bring a coach or two. If I were Tuberville, I would tell the new OC that he gets to choose his staff. Tuberville could make recommendations for his assistants, but I think Tuberville needs to leave the responsibility of the success or failure of the offense up to the offensive coordinator. Make the guy accountable.
ReplyDeleteBless our hearts? For what?
ReplyDeleteFSJ, I think Monica is attempting to heal us.
ReplyDeleteOh....
ReplyDeleteI'm used to women laying hands on me....happens all the time.
look I scanned the comments and didn't see anybody mention this...but some of the assitants had some interesting comments..
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.al.com/auburnbeat/2008/11/auburn_staff_members_cope_with.html#more
Brewster is a good recruiter and has a record of 8-13 in the Big 10. Sounds like Zook. If you're going to gamble put your money of Muschamp.
ReplyDeleteor it's d and b's top read.
ReplyDeletedandbradio.com
I knew it. It's a Buckcherry kinda night.
ReplyDeleteyall seen the tubs/olemrs margaritaville thingy. Says a lot that ole mrs fans are still mad enough to care. It's over on EDSBS.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous did you know you can register and get a real name? 8-13 is not a fair representation of his Big 10 life. From 1-11 last year to a probable 10-2 this year. Don't mess with my man.
ReplyDeleteFaker didn't need an explanation. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI know how to register. I choose not to. Why would you trade Tuberville for him if you're looking at body of work?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: get a real name; this one's already taken ;-)
ReplyDeleteMon...I never need explanations.
ReplyDeleteI am very good at reading minds....
In that case let me apologize in advance.
ReplyDelete;-)
oh and TIA
anonymous - I didn't say I wanted to trade CTT.
Campfire was off the hook! How nice was it having Josh "Tater Salad" Moon joining us? That pic of Tate reminds me of the way I look when he tries to run east and west. wde
ReplyDeleteTim from Earlier- GLORY GLORY MANUNITED!!!!! Beat Arsenal Saturday!!!! We want the Triple!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it a big deal if people post as anonymous?
ReplyDeleteFake Steve- I believe it is time you register here. Hope all is well.
ReplyDelete"Tater Salad"---Reminds me of one of my favorite comedians...Ron White.
ReplyDeleteAt that moment, I had the right to remain silent, but I didn't have the ability.
eddie,
ReplyDeleteI have registered. I'm just at the computer upstairs instead of the one in my man cave, where I am logged in.
there are no words for how much i love THE OFFICE
ReplyDeleteanonymous - it's an act of trust, drop those walls and settle into the bosom of your Auburn Family.
Cory - you should never miss another Campfire
Fake Steve- I thought you might. Is that where you dust off the National Championship collection, in the man cave? :)
ReplyDeleteeddie is right - Faker is never here with an authentic name. Interloper. Faux Fake Steve.
ReplyDeleteMon...Did you just tell someone to settle in the bosom?
ReplyDeleteLOL!
The Office is the best. Getting ready to watch it in a minute off the DVR.
ReplyDeleteI am no Faker....
ReplyDeleteRead my mind right now.
ReplyDeleteOffice P.S. I want to date Dwight. OR Hire Dwight as the new OC.
Monica dating Dwight scares me.
ReplyDeleteDon't be scared. Besides, Greg won't let me date. He's so prudish.
ReplyDeleteEddie and Phred - Solid work on The Roundtable today.
ReplyDeleteNow give your boy Sensible a shout on the GIBD on Saturday.
Sorry I missed El Campofuego...work. I know, lame excuse.
So, what's the latest and greatest?
ummm Eddie I'd like to talk with you before you call into any more shows
ReplyDeleteWill try to Mr. S.- Well lets see, Auburn football is still in crapper with no hope, Monica wants to date Dwight, but can't get the dates since she has tire marks on her back and we missed the campfire.
ReplyDeleteDo you have to create an account and all that? I hit enter after typing like y'all suggested and all it did was move the cursor down a line.
ReplyDeleteMonica- When the said the Trivia girls provided relief, I so wanted to say, well then I know why they have a weekly segment that lasts only 15 minutes, but froze up and threw you under the bus. Sorry. You will never let me live this down. You can trash me next time you call in.
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with football, but I had to share it because I am impressed.
ReplyDeleteMy dog, Conroy, is bouncing a ball off my window ... repeatedly. Do you think that might be my que?
Phred- That is your que to get ball and a cup.
ReplyDeleteLMAO that would have been funny!
ReplyDeleteOf ALL the names you could have called you had to pick #1) a chick! #2) ME #3) call me "hysterical". Them's chick fighting words. Especially as it was all untrue.
Ok, now that I got that off my chest, I'll never bring it up again. :-)
All, I have updated my profile...
ReplyDeleteMon, that's interesting, because Mrs. FSJ (we will call her Eve) encourages me to date.
Phred, your dog bounces balls to get your attention. Mine just humps my leg.
Fake Steve- I hope your health is better than the real Steve Jobs.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding Eddie. He's looked like crap at their last two product launches.
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs is the largest single investor in my favorite company, Disney. I hope his health improves. I like the man.
ReplyDeleteahem -
ReplyDelete"Best Coaching Job of the Year – First Place
Tim Brewster, Minnesota
Minnesota went 1-11 last year with the lone victory coming in overtime over Miami University. The Gophers lost their final ten games thanks to the nation’s worst defense, no pass rush, and an inability to hang on to the ball. They were 114th in the nation in turnover margin. Brewster hired former Duke head coach Ted Roof to handle the defense, instilled an aggressive attitude from game one, and now, the team is 7-2, going to a bowl, and is second in the nation in turnover margin helped by one of the Big Ten’s best pass rushes. The defense isn’t anything special, but while it bends, it doesn’t break all that often."
If you haven't seen this entire column it's interesting and entertaining.
Fiu's Cavalcade of Whimsy
I listened to Saban's call in show tonight. It kills me some of the people that call in...
ReplyDelete"Coach, this is Pee Wee from Albertville....Do you think we can win the game this weekend if we shut them down on offense. I'll hang up and listen."
Did you all know that UT-Martin will be wearing their home orange uniforms this weekend and AU will be in the whites?
ReplyDeleteTubs said UTM asked to do this because they don't get to play in front of a big crowd much and he felt like obliging them. He went on to say that the players dig the white uniforms as well.
I have to say, I do too.
Man U ... 1-1 draw vs. Celtic the other day. Unacceptable.
ReplyDeleteEddie,
ReplyDeleteHe is no doubt a genuis at what he does. Very shrewd too. IMO, he makes the best computers. I actually chose this name because some technology reporter for Newsweek, or some mag like that came up with a blog where he mimicked Steve Jobs and gave commentary on all sorts of things. It went on for a couple of years. The blog was a riot. He quit doing the blog after Steve's health looked to be declining.
I agree Monica. Tim Brewster has done an excellent job at Minnesota. He was a highly thought of assistant at Texas and he is great recruiter from what I hear. I heard he signed Vince Young.
ReplyDeleteHe is the reason I believe that Muschamp would be a good hire at Auburn if a Davis is not available.
mr. sensible,
ReplyDeleteI think both Auburn's and Alabama's road uniforms are sharp. Ironically, I like LSU's purple jerseys more than their white ones though.
I like Bama in the whites as well FSJ. They are sharp.
ReplyDeleteI hate all colors LSU wears. Though the purple screws with them sometimes.
They haven't been good in purple since Gavin Grey was there.
Jay, I agree. At least they got the equalizer after being down. Celtic is no good, but Man U is movng on.
ReplyDeleteI also like the Dallas Cowboys blue jerseys...even though they never win when they wear them.
ReplyDeleteEddie - Yeah, I've posted a few things (included a video of a press conf) in this thread on one Coach Brewster.
ReplyDeleteI like the Gold Jersey LSU wore in 96 bowl game with the white helments. That was pretty good. Bama, Auburn & Penn State White Uni's are sharp. No doubt.
ReplyDeleteNobody here got the Gavin Grey reference.
ReplyDeleteMr. S- Explain the Gavin Gray reference for me.
ReplyDeletesorry, I usually only read my own posts
ReplyDeleteGavin Grey
ReplyDeleteJust say not to Muschamp.
ReplyDeleteMr. S- He played at LSU in the movie if I remember right.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you say that SteveFC?
ReplyDeleteBingo Eddie$
ReplyDeleteMr. Sensible, I don't think Muschamp has the temperament to be a head coach, not to mention that he hasn't got any experience. I would prefer Rhodes get the HC job over Muschamp. Also, Muschamp's comments on the sidelines on national television were pretty embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteFaker - She didn't mean your dog.
ReplyDeleteI agree he's not ready for an SEC school just yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking he could go to Kansas State maybe.
i must've missed that movie Sensi. dang it.
ReplyDeletealso, why u pulling my leg on the jersey thing? whites? Tubs would have to be begging to be fired.
Steve- Rhoads as head coach would be a disaster to me. Some guys are permanent Coordinators, and I believe he fits that role.
ReplyDeleteI believe the K-State job will go to Gary Patterson. I believe that is alma mater.
I believe Muschamp is a Stoops type coach. I roll the dice with him.
Eddie,
ReplyDeleteThat's from Tubs mouth on Tiger Talk tonight.
The movie is good by the way.
Muschamp is a little more hotheaded than Stoops.
I forgot about Patterson. Well, Muschamp to TCU makes sense as well.
Tim Brewster over Muschamp - Seal it up.
ReplyDeleteNow Monica...that is just WRONG.
ReplyDeleteeddie4au, for the amount Auburn will pay a new head coach, rolling the dice is a bad idea. We would be better off with Tuberville. Should Auburn decide to go after a new HC, a proven coach should be it. To me, Rhodes behaves more like a head coach than Muschamp. I would much rather Tuberville find a 50 something OC that is looking for a place to work for the rest of his career. Tuberville has an impressive record. I think it would be much more impressive if he could keep coordinators.
ReplyDeleteMonica has a crush on Tim Brewster.... ehehehe.
ReplyDeleteTim Brewster to where, Mon?
ReplyDeleteHe's 8-13...
I like the white uni's at home. It worked well against Vandy last year. Hopefully works well again.
ReplyDeleteSteve, Auburn had that OC...
ReplyDeleteHis name was Al Borges.
In a way I think of Auburn getting rid of Tuberville to be the same thing as Ole Miss getting rid of Cutcliffe. It was a dumb move that set their program back. They were very lucky to get a Nutt to go there.
ReplyDeletewow. that's suprising stuff Sensi. consider me wrong.
ReplyDeleteis the name of that movie Gavin Grey?
FSJ, I am thinking you are right. I think Borges had already decided that Auburn was the place for him. I didn't see him leaving.
ReplyDeleteMovie is Everybody's All American
ReplyDeleteSteve- I bet we bring this up at least twice a day don't we Steve. I love this blog. We stay civil and get our points across, convincing no one.
ReplyDeleteAs I pointed out earlier in this thread Brewster is 8-13 over two years - his first two - went from 1-11 last year to a probable 10-2 this year. That's a much clearer representation of his record than "8-13". I offered lots more stuff- again earlier in this very thread.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletewhat up hotties!
ReplyDeletesteve,
how about UGA getting rid of Donnan and hiring Richt. You just never know what is going to happen, but it just looks to me like Tuberville quit on this team. I hope I'm wrong, but there is no fire.
Ok Mon...we get it....You are in the sack for Coach Brewster...
ReplyDelete:-)
Al Borges seems to be a big Auburn fan. I think he really liked it here. I hear he still goes to a lot of the baseball games and his wife has a cushy job with the Athletic Department.
ReplyDeleteI loved Donnan when he was here at Marshall. He's old gruff thing, but I liked him. He used to do this really cool "clinic" where he brought all coaches in to do a football 101 and cocktails with the ladies. wooo hoooo. How smart was he!? And how smart was I for going? hee hee.
ReplyDelete(Faker, please forgive me.)
I thought Borges was a solid OC. I was very happy when Tuberville kicked him to the curb.
ReplyDeleteHe did as well with Cox's physical limitations as anyone could, IMO.
Are you lodging a complaint, Faker?
ReplyDeleteFifty Five years of marriage has taught me to never complain...
ReplyDeleteapparently not
ReplyDeletejim in scranton, I am not sure how you don't see the fire. I have seen his intensity on the sidelines. I have heard him talk about taking Auburn to the next level. I am not sure where you don't see the fire.
ReplyDeleteI love the Pens new 3rd jersey. Carolina blue!
ReplyDeleteAs for comparing Donnan and Tuberville, I don't see the comparison.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Jim. We need that fire in the belly. No belly. No fire.
ReplyDeleteI agree Jim- Richt has worked out well for UGA. I do question Tubs desire to coach at the level needed to win. Right now, I don't have the confidence that he has the desire to be the best. I would love to be proven wrong.
ReplyDeleteAs for Borges, I am beginning to think a big part of the problem was the coaching of our wide receivers. I read comments saying that our receivers didn't understand the Borges system. But then Franklin came along and the receivers seemed to be just as lost. I do think there is a history of having issues with receivers at Auburn. Yes, we had some good ones in 2004, but that was the exception rather than the rule, and even then, those guys weren't consistently good.
ReplyDeleteWell, if we are going for belly, lets hire Mangino at Kansas. BIG BELL, BIG FIRE.
ReplyDeleteeddie4au, that would give new meaning to the words jumbo package.
ReplyDeleteGet into my Belly!
ReplyDeleteI want my babyback, babyback.....
I have the fire in the belly....
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, it is that Mexican food from earlier talking back to me.
The point with Donnan was that UGA was not willing to accept mediocrity. They fired him and Richt came in and won 2 SEC titles.
ReplyDeleteI believe that we in a period of mediocrity and that the current staff can't turn that around.
Sincerely,
William H. Buttlicker
What if we hired those Bigfoot hoaxers as HC and OC. No, they don't likely no much about football, but they would obviously be able to sell recruits on Auburn.
ReplyDeleteMangino would definitely give Fat Bastard a run for his money.
ReplyDeletejim in scranton, Donnan wasn't close to having Tuberville's record and Tuberville has been far from mediocre. It just doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else sick that christmas commercials, displays, music is already playing. This is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteSteve- I agree that Tubs has not been average, but he has not been great either. He falls somewhere in between.
ReplyDeleteeddie4au, I would put it the same way. To be great he would have had to have had to have gotten us to the SECCG more often. I just think he can do it. We have been pretty consistently good even with an amazing amount of coordinator turnover. I think we have a good one in Rhodes and probably had a good one in Borges. Lets see what Tuberville comes up with in a new OC. I will be disappointed if he get a 40ish coach that will obviously leave if he has success. Someone like Borges hanging around and building the team would have probably been best. Some of the greatest coaches coach very little later on in their career. They have proven coordinators that stay with them.
ReplyDeleteDid anybody hear Finebaum on the Roundtable today. I didn't know who it was. On his cell phone, he just sounds like "some dude." It was strange to me.
ReplyDeleteJim Donnan's record at UGA
ReplyDelete1996 5-6 3-5
1997 10-2 6-2 T2
1998 9-3 6-2 3
1999 8-4 5-3 3
2000 8-4 5-3 T2
Throw out his 1st year, and he won 73% of his games. Don't see much difference in Tubs record over the last 4 years.
“To the mediocre, mediocrity appears great” Indian Proverb
ReplyDeleteI heard him, Phred. I agree. The second time he called in it sounded more like him.
ReplyDeletephred...
ReplyDeleteWhat did Finebaum have to say on the roundtable today?
jim in scranton, Look at Donnan's record against Georgia Tech, Florida, and Tennesse. Loose to your biggest rivals consistently doesn't cut it.
ReplyDeleteMonica:

ReplyDeleteSteve- I would like to believe Tubs can get us to more SECG, but lets face it, Alabama is now a player for really the first time. It looks to have gone from a 2 team division in the west to a 3 team, or in the case of this year, still a 2 team division with Auburn replaced. If Tubs couldn't get us there with Alabaama down, then what makes you believe he can do it with Alabama up? Just the way I look at it.
ReplyDeleteYou know, honestly I wasn't paying all that much attention. Wait ... I remember now. Tubs will stay if he can lay out a plan that convinces TPTB that he can get this fixed. If not, he's gone. And that Bama is going to whoop up on LSU.
ReplyDeletewow - you quoted yourself - that's very...special
ReplyDeleteI agree that why Donnan was fired. He couldn't beat UT and UF consistently. If we lose to UGA, that will be 3 straight to them and 3 of the last 4 to LSU. That doesn't get it done for me.
ReplyDelete“We must overcome the notion that we must be regular...it robs you of the chance to be extraordinary and leads you to the mediocre.” Uta Hagen
ReplyDeleteI was looking up CTT record at Auburn and did not realize he has only 2 top 10 finishes. I guess beating Alabama 6 in a row gives people selective memories. I just want Auburn to be a top 10 program year in year out. I may be expecting to much. I know Auburn is a tough place to recruit. I give CTT credit for his dicipline and running a clean program but I think his time at Auburn is up. Just wanted to do my little rant. See Ya at homecoming
ReplyDeleteI'll say this one last time. CTT is at fault for not having more of a plan to "shift" to the spread. IMO he should have recruited for it first. Our poor shift from "auburn" football to the "auburn spread" lies squarely on his shoulders. What makes anyone think we're gonna get a OC that will buy instead of rent a house with the turnover we've had there in the past.
ReplyDeleteI was polar opposite of this 4 weeks ago, but i've seen enough to know tubs was happy to hire a hot pistol to do something he didn't feel he needed to mess with, then you are off horse midstream and losing to vandy, ark, and ole miss. Talkin bout how young your qb is and all that bs, it's CTT's fault we're in this spot for being shortsighted and not having a plan. I'm surprised he hasn't looked to outsource in india for an OC, I think it'd be cheaper.
Okay, here's one for you.

The last sound on the worthless earth will be two human beings trying to launch a homemade spaceship and already quarreling about where they are going next.

So UT-Martin asked to wear orange jerseys for the game tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with that?
According to Tubs, they asked to do this because they don't get a chance to play in front of that big of a crowd often and they are bringing a large contingent of fans with them.
ReplyDeleteTubs felt obliged to honor their request.
I think Mr. Sensible posted about this earlier before Mon slammed on him.
Monica didn't slam on me.
ReplyDeleteI asked a question without reading and got reprimanded for it.
Tubs did say all of that though, RK.
"I just want to tell you both 'good luck,' we're all counting on you."
ReplyDeleteLeslie Nielson, Airplane!
Mon is good at reprimanding....
ReplyDeleteI LLLLOVVVVVVEEE to be reprimanded.
Let's see we are 1-3 in white jerseys this year & 3-2 in blue.
ReplyDeleteSo Tub isn't superstitious.
i wish a football team somewhere would wear pink jerseys. You don't really see that ever.
ReplyDeleteMan, not a lot of action from the Hotties this morning. I guess these late night posting sessions are taking their toll.
ReplyDeleteI think it's quiet because everyone is laying low just in case tomorrow is a biblical level disaster.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize the UTMartin uni's were EXACTLY like ours.
ReplyDeleteI am having a difficult time getting excited about this game.
ReplyDeletewell, for everybody who has ever wanted to see Auburn wear orange jerseys again, this will be as close as they'll ever get.
ReplyDeletei'm with you Monica. it's either pay for fee to listen to it on auburntigers.com or go see the Great Pumpkin coach one of his last games at Tennessee for free for me. it's pretty bad that they're not even offering it on pay-per-view.
Perhaps the excitement is tempered by the thought that there may be a chance wecould actually be La-Mo'd.
ReplyDeleteIf Auburn loses to UT Martin, but no one sees it, then did it really happen?
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling there will be some folks somwhere watching it, just in case it does. But seriously, there's no way this could happen right? Funny, two months ago I thought we'd be working our way to a possible undefeated, probable 8-1 season by this point. Now I'm hoping we beat the Skyhawks. How's THAT for a change in expectations.
ReplyDeleteexactly Scottie...
ReplyDeleteAnd I know it's probably petty of me and maybe it's because I love our navy uni's so much, but I sorta don't like that CTT let them wear their colors. Again, maybe I should be ashamed, but it's sorta like another sign of his lack of belly fire. ok, ok, I know it's silly.
Mr. TommyD - Don't tell anyone this, but I don't THINK I'd be all that shocked at a loss. Self preservation has numbed me a bit.
And don't anyone think I love, support blah blah blah my Auburn any less. A girl's just gotta protect her heart ya know!
