AU @ Ole Miss pregame

Hey everyone. Great day here in Oxford: Clear skies, temps in the upper 60s or low 70s. Perfect for a game of tackle football.

Here are some shots from inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Please enjoy them.

**You can click on them to see a slightly larger size.**

That's Morgan Hull kicking a 50-yarder in warmups. He made this one.

Here are the on-the-field speakers Ole Miss uses during pre-game. The stadium music is standard top-40 stuff. These speakers blare hip-hop music. Apparently, some fans were unhappy when the hip-hop was being played throughout the stadium, so this is the compromise. I found it odd.

Auburn has a little mat on its sideline for all 11 players presumably to stand on? I've never seen it in use, yet it's always there. Maybe it's a tradition? Anyway, here I am on No. 10, which is my favorite number under 12.

This is from the Ole Miss sideline ... looking toward the top of the screen from a TV perspective.

This is Mario Fannin (white) and Harry Adams (blue) returning simulated kick-offs.

Here is the press box, where I'll be working today. Lots of blue in that picture.

  2. War Eagle everyone!

    Let's turn this around today.

  3. Powers isn't playing today & Thorpe didn't make the trip.

I guess Ole Miss abandons the run and just passes the whole game.

  4. Not good news about Powers or Thorpe...

Tuberville in pregame show says that Powers is out for this game and that Thorpe did not make the trip. Sounds like the secondary will need a fierce pass rush to help keep Snead (Ole Miss QB) from lighting them up.

  6. I can confirm that Powers is not out there.

  7. First time this year that I pick against Auburn. Picking them to win seems to have been a jinx. (All my fault for believing.) Ole Miss 24, AU 20.

Did tubs say we are missing 3 of our 4 starting db's?

  9. CTT says on the radio that pregame warm ups would determine who is place kicking.

From Jay G's pic of Hull and his 50 yarder, maybe we see a new FG kicker today?

  10. I guess Hood will have to grow up quickly.

  11. Missing 3 of our top 4 corners...not DB's.

    Both safeties are playing.

  12. Powers and Thorpe being out may be bad news for this game, but I would prefer they get healthy for the last two games.

Thanks for the radio show Mr. Sensible!!!

  13. CTT on radio - "They are gonna put 9 in the box and we're gonna have to take some shots."

I'm curious to see if we throw it more than 20 yds. down field.

Hopefully our wr recruits will be watching and licking their chops at the prospect of being a first year starter. I'd love to see kodi light it up one time. WAR DAMN KODI!

  15. Phillip Marshall picked Auburn and I have a good feeling about today's game. I had a nightmare that we lost and that is the first time this season that has happened. Also, this is the first thing I think we have clearly been an underdog. I ordered the pizza late. Everything is out of sync today, so I am assuming all my good mojo is in Mississippi. I hope to see us come out with attitude.

Please, let me see some crossing routes and option football out of the spread.

Someone help Fannin with the left versus right thing and I think we have a good shot here.

I think we'll throw it deep today , beautiful day to air it out if you ask me.

  17. Jay G I hear that Berry is starting at guard again this week. Can you confirm?

Really think it will make a difference? Unless we can arrange to have the starting lineups for both the Dawgs and the Tahd to come down with food poisoning, I don't see either of those games as being close...at least right now.

Preseason is over, it's time to open the playbook and play the 1st string guys.

  21. roman, we can upset anyone. This offense is improving, just give it a chance. As long as they stick with Kodi and get him some experience, I think we have a shot. Bama is a first half team, similar to us. If our defense is healthy, we have a chance to beat anyone.

  22. No problem, we'll find out soon enough. Apparently Tez isn't starting either, Blanc is taking his place today.

Bosley is back at center and over his shoulder problem that was hurting his shotgun snap. I look for more offense this week as it's the 4 week mark of us starting the offense, stuff should be starting to sink in.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, I say put Tez at fullback in short yardage. He is a 6th year senior. Give him the opportunity to have some fun.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think the bammers did that with Cody a couple of weeks ago. Word is Tez has a slight injury of some kind - groin I think.

  26. War Eagle everyone! It's a beautiful day for football!

  27. BinOBA, I am with you. I like Bosley back at center. I consider him a leader and a good example for other players on this team. He is a hard worker. I didn't feel comfortable with him at tackle.

  28. war eagle all. I'm watching the game at a friends house. I will talk at y'all after the game. Remember, Aunurm 24-17 In this game.

  29. show was good mr.s..ya boy there doesn't wanna be called a homer but really nice show. I'll check it out again next weekend..I don't feel any mojo right now either..could just be trying to limit my hopes or it's all in mississippi. I hope the latter. WAR EAGLE HOTTIES..leaving work at 12 be back online around the 3rd quarter...let's do this!!

  30. People, don't use the B word. I don't want us jinxed. I am about to get in position for the game. I will likely not be chatting much until halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Steve,

This team has long passed the point of being jinxed. Been there, done that this season.

I'msure that we will call pass plays longer than 20 yds..just like every game. PM has good DBs...can we get open deep? My guess is to roll Kodi out and create middle and deep pass opportunities. Kodi will need to imrove his rollout pass technique.

  33. Ya know...I just realized this is my first time watching a raycom game. It's the CBS Columbus, GA station. What happens when the Florida-Georgia game start? Hopefully this one will be over.

Tubs sure did look happy in that shot of them all walking out.

Didn't know ziemba had a knee injury that will require surgey after the season. That explains his performance some in the second halves this year, hope he gets it taken care of and comes back 100%

  35. You may be listening to the end of the AU game on the radio Kristina if it runs past 2:30.

AU is a team of walking wounded.

    ReplyDelete
  37. roman, we can upset anyone. This offense is improving.

At WV we had 266 total yards and no points in the second half. In fact, we only had something like 80 yards in the second half. Where is the improvement?

I do feel better about our potential with Kodi Burns at QB. Kodi is a work in progress but I think he has great upside potential. That said, the "french vanilla" defense (as JGT refers to it) of Paul Rhoads seems to be something that opposing OC's have figured out...plus the depth is just not there. (What has happened to all that great recruiting we've all heard about all these years?)

I will believe AU is improving when I see it on the field. Right now, I don't expect to see AU be bowl eligible...which means that I don't expect AU to beat Ole Miss, UGA or Bammer.

  38. Ergh....that's what I was afraid of James

    WAAAAAAR EAGLE HEY!
