Auburn video, 11/4

I had a little fun with this one during the second half.

Enjoy ... and good luck to your chosen candidates.

  2. Good video Jay.

    Exactly, WEG.

  3. it's good to see they still have a sense of humor. it sure would be nice to see 'em drop 50 on TT this weekend.

I think Ziemba likes him some HSM

    ReplyDelete
  5. Thanks for the support.

Ziemba was in a daze. Lester, though, is never in a daze. He's the happiest guy on the team. Well, him or Sen'Derrick or Tez.

You heard it hear. Stop the rumors.

Brad Lester says Tubs is here to stay!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I can see it now:

AUBURN -- Tommy Tuberville will return as Auburn's coach in 2009, tailback Brad Lester confirmed Tuesday.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lester is a guy who knows things.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Bum knee or not, Brad Lester is a man who can get things done.

  10. Looks like you have your headline for tomorrow.

Jay - Have you ever heard any of the players, Ziemba or Pugh in particular, commenting on Chaz Ramsey's absence and if or how it's affected the offense?

  12. Facebook Update,

I was having trouble keeping up with who was who so I made some of you officers with your title being the name you use here. So now we can just go to the officers page to find out instead of scrolling down the wall.

If you would like me to update your name, please let me know what name you use on here and I will update the officers' page.

NOTE: Being an officer in this group is not a status symbol thing, it's just a way to keep track.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sorry to hijack again...
I just realized you don't even have to go to the officers' page to see the user name. It will show up on the members list under your network.

Back to your regularly scheduled blog...

  14. Jay,

Sorry but I believe that you are confused. Sen'Derrick isn't happy he's BLINGING!

    ReplyDelete
  15. EXCELLENT vid, Jay.

I can so "hear" you comments between segments.

    "No comment," huh?

Exactly, they are kids. I'm sorry. I'd still like to smack Ziemba on the forehead. Just a tiny little smack.

Just read Tony Barnhart's article today regarding the challenges that he sees for Tennessee's coaching search vs fan expectations. Considering all the situations in play at AU, we would have an even tuffer challenge than Tenn.

The kids looked happy, their grades must be good.

    ReplyDelete

    Monica,

You missed Barbara Dooley's segment today...Great radio.

    ReplyDelete
  18. better get back to my real job.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Great vid Jay as usual.

Your right Mr. Sensible- now that Lester confirmed that Tubs is staying, we can move to the oc search.

War Ealge Girl- You are right. These are just kids who don't get paid, or at least not anymore, to play for Auburn. That's why I say don't ever take it out on the players. In 98, things were bad as most know, but Ben Leard took critisim very hard, and it was wrong for fans to be so negative. That sticks out to me.

    ReplyDelete
  20. There is a HABOTN facebook page?

    ReplyDelete
  21. more Barbara Dooley? we need a synopsis. i was rollin' here last time reading that stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  22. RK- Where have you been? Yeah man,its the second hottest thing on the net.

  23. Obviously this football season is causing me to black out or something, because I'm in the dark on this.

Finebaum was trying to push her to make some pointed remarks about the gymnastics coach at UGA and her boyfriend who is on the BOT at UGA.

All she would say is that she wouldn't shake his hand.

Then she cackled several times and snorted a time or two and the segment was over.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Campfire up and running.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Faker! How could you let me miss it?

    ReplyDelete
  27. So how do I find this facebook HABOTN page?

I'm not a big fan of the search on facebook...as I can't find anything when I search.

    ReplyDelete

If David Cutcliffe won't go to UT b/c he doesn't want to replace CPF and if the predictions are true that CTT will not be here next year, why not Cutcliffe @ AU? (Disciplinarian and QB builder)

My guess is that b/c CPF cares about UT, he will invite Cutcliffe to come to UT.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous6:45 PM

Cutcliff is a good coach, but poor recruiter. That was his downfall at Ole Miss.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cutcliff is not that great of a recruiter, once Eli left they had nothing.

He's a good QB developer and decent X's and O's guy, but nothing special.

Plus I'm guessing if we hire someone it'll be someone younger than Cutcliff who is 55 or so.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous7:09 PM

Didn't realize he was not a good recruiter and didn't consider age. Those are good points.

I feel like if CTT really goes, AU is going to struggle to get the caliber coach that is expected, b/c of our baggage.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Agreed RK. I don't think Cutcliff is a good fit for what Auburn wants at ths time.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hoopie, I may be completely wrong, but I think that is something we will not have to worry about. I believe they only cut Tubs loose if they have their man ready to step in. I just don't see it happening any other way.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous7:15 PM

What baggage are you referring to Hoopie?

    ReplyDelete
  40. A Coach should want to come to Auburn, beacuase we have proven that we are patient, despite what some may think. Last 5 coaches:

    Tuberville- 10 Years
    Bowden - 5.5 Years
    Dye- 12 Years
    Barfield- 5 Years
    Shug Jordan- 25 Years.

Thats a pretty good track record of patience.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 0% chance of Cutcliffe being the coach at Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous7:23 PM

Who won the soccer match Jay G?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous7:28 PM

Baggage: Intrusive PTB, Zero tolerance, neurotic fans(Bammerism by osmosis) and the spectre of firing a successful coach after one losing season.

What successful coach would want to come to AU and coach against the rest of the SEC with that baggage working against you.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous7:29 PM

    Good points, Hoopie.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous7:30 PM

My guess is that we would have to get a D1 coordinator or HC from a lower level.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why on earth would we want Cutcliffe? Not trying to be disagreeable, but that just doesn't make sense to me.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Cobra Commander. I believe you have been beaten to the punch. Enjoy all.

    Waistin' Away in Tommy Tuberville

    ReplyDelete
  48. The right man, if a right man is needed, will be someone "big" enough to overcome all of that (i.e. Supreme Commander Saban) or someone "oblivious" enough (i.e. Mad Scientist Leach) not to notice it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous7:36 PM

I've kinda felt this all along and have considered all potential coach's mentioned on the blogs without commenting. Barnhart's article today regarding his anticipated UT coach search challenges caused me to face it.

That same article also caused me to erroneously consider David Cutcliffe.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous7:39 PM

Eddie, saw that earlier today.......that's funny right 'dere

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous7:39 PM

Just my .02 worth but if a coaching change is made, AU needs a coach with enthusiasm and fire and I see neither from Cutcliffe.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous7:45 PM

Phred...no one is suggesting Cutcliffe..anymore....An idea developed and I shot it out there...bad move. ha ha

Why would Leach leave a ggod thing at an upcoming Big 12 school where he is loved to jump into the neurotic SEC? Money? I'll bet TT makes it too good for him to stay.

My guess is that you will see more coaches make a decision like Jim Grobe at Wake Forest. This forces more and more situations like Arkansas last season.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think we can get off the Cutcliff talk. Even Jay says 0% chance.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would take an Arkansas outcome. I believe they are on the way up.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think Leach would be a terrible hire. What makes anyone think that we have the athletes to run that offense? It would be the same result we had this year with franklin. He won a big game against a soft Texas defense, I bet he loses his next two. He's the flavor of the week.

    ReplyDelete
  56. and eddie when you posted the coaches' tenures there should be a big fat asterisk next to tuberville explaining jetgate. Unfortunately that's what people remember.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ron- Then you could list (2) 5 year tenures for Tuberville.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The Good Soccer Team lost, 2-1.

    So it goes.

I'll coach in the spring. We'll see what happens then.

    ReplyDelete
  59. This election coverage is just stimulating. Can't miss TV.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous8:10 PM

    What's your buyout Jay G?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I believe his buyout is two weeks worth of Juice Packs and Snickers.

    ReplyDelete
  62. $20 gift certificate to Talbot's Petites.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yea. I'm all over this election coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Folks, not having the athletes to run an offense is a BS argument. If an OC cannot adapt his offense to suit his talent, he needs to join the Borges/Franklin hug party.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anonymous8:17 PM

This election coverage is as predictable as the AU offense.

Jay...what age group soccer team? I coached/reffed K/1st/2nd grade Basketball at the church. Kinda like herdin' cats and yet totally rewarding.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I do like NBC's electoral Map on the Ice Rink ar Rockafeller center.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Steve- You can't make lemonade with oranges. If you are making a radical change on offense, you have to give it time and not panic.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Ron "ball of hate" Mexico: You always come out swinging, :-)

I don't think Leach would be a good hire either. I was using him as an example of "the other" type that I thought might be able to survive here.

Hoopie: He would leave because T. Tech operates under a deficit. THEY CAN'T pay him any more money. The can't afford to pay him now.

Also, back to you Ron: When Leach got there, T. Tech didn't have those kind of players either. They barely had any players at all.

All that said, I AM NOT suggesting that AU hire Leach.

    ReplyDelete
  69. eddie4au, I am not panicking. I am just saying that talent doesn't dictate the offense. The offense conforms to the talent. A good coach will be able to use the talent he has, not wait until different areas of talent arrive.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous8:29 PM

If this presidential race continues as it looks like it will, it won't matter who the coach is.

Because Obama will take all of the money we would spend to go to games and give it to the government to be given to people elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Steve- I'm not suggesting your panicking, i'm suggesting that who ever the next OC should be committed to the offense they run just as Michigan is and GT is this year. They don't have their players, but they are committed to doing it their way regardless instead of just trying to win this year. Granted, GT is winning this year.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hoop: These were 6, 7 & 8 girls.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Can someone more informed than I, explain how they can call states with hardly any precints reporting?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous8:41 PM

Phred, I understood that you were using Leach as an example. I don't see any "proven" D1 coaches that will jump into the SEC insanity without demanding a kings ransom or a substantial buyout clause.

The odds of satisfying the fickle fans is not that good, so the coach has to make the deal sweet enough to be worth the risk.

I think the answer is a blend of what you 2 are saying.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous8:43 PM

Eddie and Steve....I think that the Coach/talent issue ia a blend of what ou 2 are saying.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hoopie. I don't think there will be a buyout if we get someone like Butch Davis or another big name. I think you will get guarenteed money for the entire contract if you should fire them. I figure we would do the same thing that Alabama did with Nick Saban.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I really don't see Auburn as that much more neurotic than any other school of similar profile. Big time college football prgrams all have about the same issues we do. Meddling trustees and boosters. Irrational fans who expect too much and call for firings.

However, Aubrun has the coolest pre-game tradition ever, so that's one thing we've got going for us.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hoopie ... I'm suggesting that your subtitle nickname be ... "the blender" :-)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous8:56 PM

Jay, I coached girls also. I initially concentrated on improving general athletic skills and convincing them to be aggressive. BBall is probably easier to coach than soccer. My daughter was more interested in doing cartwheels during the game than chasing the soccer ball. Years later she was on a state championship competitive cheerleading team. I guess the cartwheels were the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Anonymous9:07 PM

I feel that Lech would work, but do not think he would be the one that was chosen. If Tubbs is to be jettisoned I feel the BOT would have to have someone already locked down. I had said before I thought if an announcement was to be made t would be after the UGA game, similar to what TN is doing. 9I think PF is coaching through the final game) My gut feeling would be that it would be Muschamp if that is the case.

With that being said, I still think TUbbs stays regardless of the final two games, unless they are complete blowouts.

    What do you HOTTIES think?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anonymous9:10 PM

    Wootangclan,

I go back and forth on this all the time.

Part of me thinks the silence means a deal is done and TPTB are just waiting for the season to end.

Part of me thinks Tubs has all the power and has shut down the comm. lines to keep it all in house and he isn't going anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Anonymous9:10 PM

Eddie...I hope that we can hire the caliber and contract similar to CNS...just don't think there will be a suitable candidate that will be willing. I bought into Tony Barnhart's article today.

Kristina...wish that the pregame would attract a coach. Our baggage is more considerable than most CFB schools.

Phred.....you nailed my personna...born to compromise.

Is there any doubt that EVERY network s going to call the election at 11pm EST when the last poll closes?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anonymous9:11 PM

The more time passes, the more confused I get.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Sorry that I have been MIA, I have been trying to save lives. My thoughts, after reading all the comments... I loved the link to the wasting away in tommy tuberville, it made for a good laugh. Jay, does CTT not look like he is in pain to you? He just looks like is neck is acting up, but it just may be all the tension. Also what is the updated %?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Other Coaches: What about Gary Patterson, Gary Pinkel or Turner Gill. Just thought I would throw some different coaches out there.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anonymous9:18 PM

For some of the other conference school coaches that may not want to come to AU and the SEC, I say, If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

If you would rather be big in your fishbowl then you should stay there. If you think you can play here, then sack up and come on.

I just like the moxy of Boise State. Their program has, I think, always said we will play anyone, anywhere, anytime. That is the AUdacity, AttitUde the AU needs to get.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous9:21 PM

Chris Peterson is a Scientologist. For what it is worth, I'm not sure that'll work recruiting in the southeast.

Though it would be cool to see Tom Cruise at the Iron Bowl in orange & blue. Maybe Katie Holmes will do one of those photoshoots like Ashley Judd did for Kentucky.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'll pass on the Katie Holmes photo shoot. She is no Ashley Judd. Maybe we could also get closet scientologist Will Smith at an Auburn game.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous9:24 PM

Didn't know that about Will Smith, Eddie.

Katie Holmes in the Dawson's Creek days was very nice.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I agree Mr. S, but Tom Cruise has ruined her.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Anonymous9:28 PM

Not sure a scientologist would pass muster, but he is a good coach. Not too high on K Holmes either. SHe didn't even say hi when I passed her at the NYC marathon.

Back to football-my belief is still Tubbs stays. He hires a high octane OC that can run some version of the spread. We have to have some kind of spread offense for all those recruits we have lined up for '09.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous9:29 PM

    True that.

At least Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar have remained somewhat normal.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Anonymous9:30 PM

Eddie....not sure what to say...they arent' Saban/Petrino caliber coaches. I was under the impresssion that we were discussing the possibility of attracting a top coach. I'm sure there are several partially proven coaches/coordinators that would jump at the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Let's not forget my favoriteScientologist

    ReplyDelete
  95. Don't get me wrong Hoopie, I want Butch Davis. He is really the only equal to Saban right now. If that didn't work out, I would be for Muschamp. I was just throwing the next level guys to judge opinion. I think Tuberville is better than the list of coaches that I previously listed.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Monica- You had to bring up David Beckhem. I don't believe he is a scientologist. I like him better when he played for the red devils.

    ReplyDelete
  97. do we have some proof that Peterson is a scientologist?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Mr. S, I bet his Thetan level is sky high :) I can hear it now, "We'd like to give thanks to L. Ron for that great win over Bama."

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous9:40 PM

Question-IF a change is made, does Willis keep his job? Can he be considered a candidate for the DC job? In case you wondered, this is the coach I REALLY want to be retained for numerous reasons. Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Anonymous9:41 PM

    LOL, AUWADE.

Phred, I read that in multiple places a while back, but now I can't find any of it. Probably those Thetans blocking Google.

    ReplyDelete
  101. He's taken classes, but says he's not a Scientologist. I say I can't imagine caring less, but it seemed a great opportunity to bring him up! :-) :-)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Completely off topic, but ...

The popular "Hatin' With Jay G" segment on 790 The Fan in Jackson, Miss., is dead.

    You're thinking I quit? Wrong.

The station has been sold and "The Morning Vent" guys have not been retained.

    Sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous9:41 PM

Tim, I think it's a clean sweep IF a HC change is made.

    ReplyDelete
  104. James Willis is a position coach and an outstanding recruiter.

    DC at Auburn? No.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Tim- I believe it would be up to the new Head Coach if it comes to that. I really like James Willis. Not sure that he is ready for DC yet, but who knows. I would love for him to stay at Auburn for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous9:42 PM

Dang, sorry to hear that for those guys.

    I enjoyed those segments.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Anonymous9:43 PM

Will you be making an appearance on the WMSP show tomorrow?

I can't wait to hear the next riveting bit of inquiry from John Longshore.

    ReplyDelete
  108. No hatin' with Jay on the Mississippi Show. I guess you need to take the segment to Mr. S's Gridiron breakdown.

    ReplyDelete
  109. The guys at Gridiron Breakdown still like me!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I think I'm supposed to be on MSP. He emailed and I forgot to respond. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm ready for some more states to be announced so that I can go to bed soon.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Jay Geezy got those guys fired? dang.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Anonymous9:46 PM

It should be fun in the morning then.

    ReplyDelete
  114. that was in jest, in case anyone misinterpreted the tone. Jay Geezy's presence only makes good things better, and bad things good.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Anonymous9:47 PM

Woo....I definitely hope that CTT stays. This is my first time entering into the coach replacement specuation. I guess the UT situation and the Barnhart articleprompted me to address "what if".

Sensi...either of your 2 scenerios explain why nothing has been officially stated. PMarshall's article screams for something to be stated. If CTT does hold the power, he needs to settle the fight soon so we don't lose recuits. If the PTB are making a change and know the successor, then waiting until before/after the IB won't matter b/c recruiting will go into upheaval anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  116. ...and worst things tolerable.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anonymous9:49 PM

The Gridiron Breakdown is all about some Jay G. segments.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think we a "deep thoughts by Jay" weekly post.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Goodnight all. I'm heading to bed and watching the election coverage as long as my eyes will allow.

    ReplyDelete
  120. What is the station you said doesn't likey Jay?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Anonymous9:54 PM

I'm out too gang. See you all tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Anonymous9:57 PM

Ok Mon.....no more male porn! i clicked on the link about the time my wife walked by. She's stsrting to question what a Hottie is.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Anonymous9:59 PM

    Mon...

Where did you get that picture of me?

    TIA,

    FSJ

    ReplyDelete
  124. Baggage is an interesting subject. Auburn has a lot, yes. However, a new coach would at least have a couple years to right the ship and recruit. I think the baggage really lies with CTT. He has jetgate, a fickle fanbase when it comes to him, and an administration that tolerates him at best. I think CTT has a uhaul full of baggage with Auburn. That being said, I think that he is the man for the job. He just needs a couple of years (never happen, imo) and a really goog OC hire.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anonymous10:07 PM

11 EST and all major networks are calling it. Congrats to the president-elect.

I'll be watching to make sure that the "centrist" positions presented in the campaign are not abandoned.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I'll be watching to make sure TT doesn't get fired. My watching might be as effective as your watching.

    ReplyDelete
  127. hoopie - you should get your wife to join!

Faker - Don't you remember posing for that? Also, what does "TIA" mean?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Anonymous11:27 PM

    TIA= Thanks in advance...

    ReplyDelete
  129. Anonymous11:37 PM

    I am a gentleman....

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  130. I always though TIA meant Tickle Irate Aardvarks. Never made much sense, aardvarks aren't the least bit ticklish.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Faker - uh huh...

Michael - I've known some ticklish..oh never mind I'm tired.

    G'night y'alllll

    ReplyDelete
  132. Got to love this article. It appears Pete Carroll is whining about the BCS system. He only does this when he seems to think he is slighted. Funny, I didn't hear any of this in 2004.

    Whining Carroll

    ReplyDelete
  133. Butch Davis and David Cutcliffe have both removed their names from consideration from the UT job.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Spurrier said he wasn't interested in the UT job either. He said he would have taken it job 5 years ago, but not today.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Cutcliffe? What's the point?

Stuff baffles me sometimes. Who in their right mind would take Duke football over Tennessee. I mean, Cutcliffe can't get that job ... but ... why pretend that you'd prefer Duke?

    ReplyDelete
  136. you didn't know Jay, Duke's the jam son?! j/k.

well, Nicky Saban denied, denied, denied his interested and well, oops....he lied.

    ReplyDelete
  137. This is the best quote I've read about Fulmer's firing, from the Head Visor himself:

"But congratulate him (Fulmer) on hitting that lottery ticket. That's a big ticket he got," Spurrier said, adding, "I don't know whether to feel sorry for coach or congratulate him for the biggest buyout in the history of college football. He got the best deal ever, I think."

    ReplyDelete
  138. That's an awesome quote.

    Thanks for sharing.

(ps: Not many people know or realize that Tuberville and Spurrier are homies.)

    ReplyDelete
  139. HOMIES???!!!! Egads, say it isn't so!

I think if people up here in Knoxville do know that they pretend otherwise. Denial. They still hate that guy.

  140. I've heard the Tuberville / Spurrier connection a few times. Makes sense. I hear they are competitive on the golf course with each other.

Tuberville and Spurrier are big golf buddies - Spurrier beat him in a charity (?) golf match last year.

Jay, unsurprisingly, I can give you several reasons why Cutcliffe would prefer Duke to TN.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I was just about to post that Spurrier quote. He's always good for a few gems.

    ReplyDelete
  143. A couple of other great Spurrier quotes.

In 2000 or 2001 after the Flordia/South Carolina game where Holtz did the black out and had all the SC fans wear black and Florida ripped them something like 49-7, Spurrier said "I'd like to thank all those South Carolina fans tonight, that nice pretty black backdrop they gave for Rex Grossman to throw into was greatly apprecaited."

When asked about what he learned about his team by beating Vandy one year 42-0, he responded "it showed me we're 42 points better than Vanderbilt."

  144. About Cutcliffe taking himself out of Duke consideration: there are fans and media people who have thrown his name around, so that is why he would take himself "out of consideration" even though we know he wouldn't get it. He is friends with Phil, Phil gave him a job in between head coaching gigs and they have a lot of history. Makes sense he would nip any rumors in the bud, otherwise it might seem like he was condoning and maybe even hoping to profit from this "injustice" done to his friend.

  145. Greatest Spurrier comment ever came on his radio show the week after a loss to UT.

Caller: Coach, I work with a lot of UT fans and they're really giving me hell this week. What do you suggest?

Spurrier: I suggest you find a job where you're working with a lot of Georgia fans.

Second greatest Spurrier comment came a couple of years ago at SEC Media Days when he was discussing signing a player from the state of Alabama.

Spurrier: In 12 years at Florida, I don't think we ever signed a kid from the state of Alabama. Of course, we found out later that the scholarships they were giving out at Alabama were worth a whole lot more than ours."

Good to see you joining the masses on here, Josh Moon.

Many of us enjoy The Roundtable with you and Doug.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Thank you, sir. Glad to be here. I'm usually lurking throughout the day.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Spurrier and Tuberville homies? Now that is interesting. Shug and Bear had their behind the seens fishing trip too. These coaches really need to learn a bit more about hating.

    ReplyDelete
  149. From what I hear, most of the coaches in the league genuinely dislikes Urban Meyer. Other than that, not a lot of personal animosity.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Charles Goldberg had a blog suggesting our offensive issues might be fixed by scoring more touchdowns. What a brilliant idea. I say we try it and see how it works.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I hear if you score more points than the other team that you win the game. Maybe Charles could post that also.

    ReplyDelete
  152. eddie4au, it depends. Against MSU we scored 2 for them and 3 for us. I guess it depends on who we score points for.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Anonymous11:10 AM

Let's face it, we score less than high school freshmen do with seniors.

    ReplyDelete
  154. ouch! so true though. so, what's the over/under on points scored this weekend? 24? 28?

    ReplyDelete
  155. I say the Over / Under is 42.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Charles is a funny guy.

He's just funnin'. Might as well considering how this season has unfolded. I feel like I'm writing the same stories over and over again ...

    ReplyDelete
  157. Maybe you should skip reporting on this year anymore and act like its the offseason. Focus on recruiting and optimism about '09

    ReplyDelete
  158. I think Jay should reuse stories from previous games to see if anybody notices a difference.

    ReplyDelete
  159. eddie, you mean like we couldn't score points, they're working hard in practice and getting better, kodi's getting better, the ball hasn't bounced our way this year, it's going to happen, somebody gets hurt on defense, yada...yada...yada. like those stories?

    yeah, i don't think i'd notice a difference. bummer.

You mean like tubs recycles his coachspeak?

    ReplyDelete
  161. I'm waiting on the "It's just one of them football things" response.

Every NASCAR interview that I have seen has a driver who wrecks using the "It's just one of them racing things" response, so Tub should steal from them.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Jay, I really feel for you as a writer. There really isn't much new to report. The Tuesday press conference is pretty much a re-run every week, with the new thing being the number of injuries.

I watched some video of Ziemba and Green on Auburn Undercover earlier. They were saying the right things, but their hearts didn't really seem to be in it. I think they are probably sick of all the questions.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I agree, I would like to see Tubs using Juan Montoya quotes in his press conference. I don't know much about NASCAR, but I bet it would be funny.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Josh, where did you find the picture of the motocycle accident victim. I kid. I kid.

    Welcome!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Is anyone else listening to The Roundtable via internet and if so is it breaking up?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Monica, I am listening and it's not breaking up. I bet you get a shout out for posting that :)

    ReplyDelete
  167. lol Thanks, Eddie.

    ReplyDelete
  168. OK. I've been pondering what to post today. I have come to a conclusion.

I'm going to do a video. Then, or maybe before I do the video, I'm going to go on a rant about how Auburn needs to make up its mind on Tuberville. The Iron Bowl is only two games away.

What if Auburn continues on its aimless ways and Tuberville wins the Iron Bowl? Then what? Fire a guy who just won seven in a row?

    ReplyDelete
  169. ooooooo a RANT! I'm excited! Go, Jay G., Go!

    ReplyDelete
  170. Yea. Rants give me release.

I think Wilson Phillips should write a song about that.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Video Idea - Jay G. doing Release Me.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I like it Jay. That is the best reading of all. Heck, I think that is what most of us do here. We rant in a constructive way. Anyways. Love hearing your thoughts on this craziness that is Auburn Football.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Gnarles Barkley- Crazy for video.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Jay, I was thinking the same thing yesterday about Auburn making up it's mind. But would it be smart to have a lame duck coach going into the iron bowl? I think that would put our chances from 5% to 0% of winning... I guess we don't have much of shot either way, but I think firing him would eliminate all hope.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I remember Dye being a lame duck heading into the 1992 Iron Bowl. When it was 0-0 at halftime I thought we might be able to pull it out, but Antonio Langham ended those thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Either way the longer they wait and don't say anything... the more tuberville's chances of joining Phillip Fulmer and the fat buyout club increase

    ReplyDelete
  177. I think there should be an emotional video with the generic sounds of Phil Collins singing "Against All Odds".

    ReplyDelete
  178. I agree Ron, the longer this drags on the less of a chance that they are planning on keeping Tommy.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Hotties are slackin'. Not even at 200 comments yet.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Jay, maybe if you added some inspirational music to the video, it might help. How about Hank Williams Jr. singing why do you drink?

    ReplyDelete
  181. New rant is up.

    (Slacking? It's Tennessee-Martin week.)
