  1. well, they just put their 4th string RB in. Guess they are calling off the dogs.

  2. so, guys, who is the first game against next year?

    ReplyDelete

29-0 will do it, I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  4. They will score again. Just wait.

is Grant imitating us? That's not funny...

    I didn't know Tez had a 4.0.

    Good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  8. going for it on 4th?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anonymous5:41 PM

Have they started up Rammer Jammer yet, Jay G?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wonder if our 1st team offense can score on their 2nd team defense.

    ReplyDelete
  11. What about the 4 coaching changes before they landed on Saban?

What about 'em? Are you satisfied with mediocrity? AU under Tuberville is an underachieving program in decline. WHAT IT IS WITH YOU PEOPLE?

Bama has been subpar for years. Now they aren't. AU has how many SECCG appearances (not to mention trophies) under Tubs? Thats right. Two appearance. One SECCG championship. And since 2004...nothing but rolling (at an ever increasing rate) downhill.

Tubs couldn't even bring himself to step in and demand that the offensive staff give the starting nod to a future NFL first round draft pick at QB i n 2003. (Quote: If I wanted to run a high school offense, I'd start Jason Campnbell.) Against UGA this year, Fannin gets hot, scores both offensive TD's...and then sits with the game on the line? Are you kidding me?

Tommy Tuberville needs to cash his lotto ticket and leave. Do people here realize just how much 6 million dollars is? If you make 50 grand a year, you'd have to work 120 YEARS to make 6 mil. Feel bad for Tubs? NOT!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Dubose has as many SEC Championships as Tubs.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Guys..

We have less than 7 minutes left in our season.

It has been wonderful getting to know many of you this year.

You all have been THE BRIGHT SPOT in this dreadful time of Auburn football.

Jay..thanks for making it all possible.

    War Eagle.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Dubose has as many SEC Championships as Tubs.

    EXACTLY!

    ReplyDelete
  15. and dubose's came over CTT

    War Eagle Reynolds.

Roman, I completely agree. 6 million, take away 2 for taxes= 4 million. at 4% interest, is like 160K/year in interest only. i think i could manage.

    ReplyDelete
  18. mario hurt? should have been swinton's ball

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anonymous5:45 PM

not getting that fumble--- desire. UAT has it, we don't. sums up the WHOLE DANG season.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I agree Reynolds. The HABOTN Nation is the bright spot of this whole season. The only bright spot.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous5:46 PM

Now we have to hope and pray that UF kicks UAT's tail next Sat. I will be doin the Gator CHomp for all its worth. Anyone else with me?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Honestly, after the first game of the season against ULM, we all should have seen this sort of thing coming. Maybe not to this degree, but, yeah. I think that #9 ranking got to our heads a tad.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous5:48 PM

We all thought the same thing.

Tubs & the BBQ bunch can coach through this.

    They didn't. Plain and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 4 million. at 4% interest, is like 160K/year in interest only. i think i could manage.

I'd like to try. I'm 48 years old and in my best year made a shade over 65k. Thought I was doing pretty good. Then I got divorced. (Never mind how I felt after the ex got through with me...)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous5:49 PM

Swinton had no heart. Wife asked who he was and said exactly why you don't know him. No heart.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is almost as tragic as the last episode of the shield...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous5:50 PM

    Another TD

Ouch...that's running it up, but in the modern era, who can blame them. They have a lot to play for and a lot to make up for.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i hope we score once.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Are we gonna be completely shutout? 29-0 feels an awful lot like the years from 1973-81.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anonymous5:50 PM

Maybe Tubbs will step down after this. This team is really bad. Can't be;ieve I thought we had a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous5:50 PM

    Amen, ScottATL...amen

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, I knew they would score again. I hope we don't fumble again, or they could score again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 35-0...with backups in

    ReplyDelete
  34. I know some here may not believe it but I am not a CTT hater. But anyone that looks at this game as well as the rest of this nightmare of a season and thinks he can fix this with a new OC and some new assistants...I disagree. This program is in free-fall, and only new blood can turn it around. I am not saying there is a sure thing better than CTT, but I think it has reached the point where there is less risk in making a change than in not making a change.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Never mind. 36-0 feels a lot like 1973-1981. Total domination/annihilation. No excuses. Good coaching vs. Tuberville/Gran/Nallsminger.

    Tommy MUST go.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agreed Depressed. Unfortunately I now agree. This performance is hard to take as have most of the other games this season.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Depressed, mu husband is totally with you. I hate it when he's right.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous5:52 PM

    36-0

That is just....ouchtown - population Auburn fans

    ReplyDelete
  39. What class they just showed. Lots of locker room material for the next 9 months.

    ReplyDelete
  40. aw, man. That would have been a nice ending for Tristan

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous5:54 PM

    tubs must go

    ReplyDelete
  42. they need ME as a corner...these guys are pitiful

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think their backups could beat us hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Swinton had no heart. Wife asked who he was and said exactly why you don't know him. No heart.

BULL ******* SH*T! There isn't a player on this team that does not have heart. Swinton may not be a world beater but he's had the disadvantage of AU coaching under an overpaid and mostly incompetent staff.

The time for blaming this on coordinators is over. The buck stops at the top.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous5:57 PM

Later, gang. Tune in Tuesday night at 7:30 pm CST to the Gridiron Breakdown on WTLS

    ReplyDelete
  46. I turned it off before I heard the YELLOWHAMMER cheer..

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous5:57 PM

    And there was Rammer Jammer

    ReplyDelete
  48. fsj, are you likin or hatin this?

    ReplyDelete
  49. no class problem when their backup qb throws a td. our guys need to be coached up enough to stop the 2nd string. don't even start the whining about that.

ctt had 2 weeks to prepare for this game and this is what we get.

resign ctt. resign. you are terrible. you have been schooled.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Guys, I'm going out to eat to chill out. I'll check back later. This one is tough to swallow.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Nice post, Reynolds. War Eagle and right back attcha!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Good game guys.

    Your defense played hard.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Scott - Faker is in H-E-A-V-E-N right now.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anonymous6:01 PM

It's bad when I'm not even sad we lost. this was the worst performance I have seen from and offense since I played college ball. Really bad.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like how Rod Bramlett can spin the season: "We don't have to worry about a bowl game now... see you in the spring Stan."

    ReplyDelete
  56. They should have put me in. Yeah... Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous6:06 PM

I'll say it again. Swinton has NO HEART. He didn't want that ball. That's why he doesn't play. Why would you say it is the coaches fault for him not being coached up. How do you coach up desire & want? He didn't want it. Not that that play would have mattered, but it is just a trend for the entire season

Worst game I've seen in almost 20 yrs. Out coached again.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Mon,

Faker is engaging in self abuse debauchery

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous6:07 PM

55 rushing yards. 170 total to their 430. Terrible.

    So glad it is over.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The HABOTN. Definitely the best thing about this season.

    ReplyDelete
  61. WTC, I'm glad it's over for this year. I'm just afraid of what is on the horizon.

    ReplyDelete
  62. THe future so bright, I need to wear shades

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'll say it again. Swinton has NO HEART. He didn't want that ball.

Tommy, you can say whatever you want and blame the players for your coaching if it makes you feel better. Does not make it true.

(Shouldn't you be coaching instead of posting to blogs?)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anonymous6:12 PM

How long before the annoucements come that several coaches are are stepping down?

One of the guest tonight asked if who thought Tubbs will go on his anual duck hunt trip this year? What do you guys think?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Denny - I knew who you meant. lol Failed joke.

Yep, Faker is flying high right now.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Locker room report on.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thinks Coach Yox will have a intensive off season planned now.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anonymous6:15 PM

FSJ-Congrats on your team playing a great game. Didn't see this onesided showing.

We will get you next year though.

Enjoy this one cause you guys deserve it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yox is probably wall papering the weight room now.

    ReplyDelete
  70. The commercials with CTT talking about walker with swagger would be funny if they weren't so sad.

    ReplyDelete
  71. IM4AU - Is your hubby and obnoxious winner or is he taking it easy on you?

    ReplyDelete
  72. I hope they don't forget that last classy TD pass. I know I won't.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous6:18 PM

Monica-I actually think the future is going ot be bright for us. AU has some talent there AU just could not make it happen this year.

    ReplyDelete
  74. My husband has been playing with the grandkids all through the game. He's always been a gracious winner, as have I.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Man I am thoroughly depressed

    ReplyDelete
  76. Has anybody heard anything on Mario. It was is other shoulder wasn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm glad to hear that for your sake, IM4AU! Very cute pic of your grand kids, btw.

WTC - I'm happy you have that optimism. I'm not so confident in our coaching staff on so many levels. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anonymous6:21 PM

Didn't see the last TD. Was it for style points or did they jsut make a play? Really can't fault them for it. The kids practice and want score, even the 2nd-3rd teams.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Thanks Mon. The grandkids wore their AU gear, hoping to bring us luck. They will be in Auburn with me next year rooting on our Tigers.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I've been a huge Tubby supporter, but it might be time for him to retire to his nice lakeside home. Can't feel too sorry for him. Auburn has been good to him.

    ReplyDelete
  81. wtc, the last touchdown was on a great fade by McElroy, the backup QB.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Muburn23, be glad it took you this long to get depressed. I had low expectations for this game, and still think I aimed too high.

    ReplyDelete
  83. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Yeah, wtc, but Tommy always sits on a lead and never wants to run up the score. I say, let our guys go. Well that is, when we are capable!

    ReplyDelete
  85. This was the worst performance I can remember from an Auburn team since a game against Tennessee at home. I believe it was in Pat Dye's second year and it was something like 42-0.

    ReplyDelete
  86. HIRE PAUL JOHNSON!

Georgia Tech took UGA to the woodshed today (final score notwithstanding) in the first year of "rebuilding" and installing an option offense with a Chan Gailey recruited roster that was built for anything BUT the option.

I'd love to see PJ coaching at AU. GT can't compete on money...and Tommy Tuberville can't compete on coaching.

    ReplyDelete
  87. CTT is usually on the post game radio show by now isn't he?

    ReplyDelete
  88. What's so sad. We don't even know what to expect next year. We have seen absolutely no improvement this year.

    ReplyDelete
  89. They are still waiting on Tommy to show up. Maybe he has already left the building.

    ReplyDelete
  90. They are waiting around waiting on Tommy Tuberville. I do feel sorry for the seniors.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yup. Still waiting on Tubs. Hope he resigns on air. CASH THAT LOTTO TICKET, TOMMY!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Time for CTT to go, but he'll be back.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Anonymous6:28 PM

Was it a good thing for us to get blown out? Was this a wake up call?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Yeah, CTT is ALWAYS on the post game show BEFORE the call in portion of the show. Wonder where he is.

    ReplyDelete
  95. LOL Did we really NEED MORE of a "wake up call"???? Geeze Louise. The obnoxious alarm has been screaming for a while now.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Lost my postgame feed on the radio. You will have to tell me what excuses Tommy gives.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous6:32 PM

The problem with this game to me, is that down 10-0 I felt like we were doing well. The turnovers just killed us. Defese can't play that long. I fell bad for those guys and Rhodes.

    ReplyDelete
  98. wtc, if it took this game to be a wake-up call, this program is in even worse shape than I thought. If Tubs talks his way out of this one, I am convinced he can sell an eskimo an igloo. This game was more like the nail in the coffin.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Agree wtc. Those 2 turnovers really took the wind out of any sails we had.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Anonymous6:34 PM

Danielson was right when UAT kicked off and it looked like it was going out of bounds and Fannin had to pick it before was recovered by UAT, he said the way it bounced has been the way the season has gone for both teams. UAT got the right bounces and AU didn't get any.

    ReplyDelete
  101. So CTT said the new OC will be able to bring in his own staff.

    Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Anonymous6:41 PM

The wake up call is not for the team. They will be fine. I thinking it should be a wake up call for the staff (those that remain) to get out and work harder than they have been working. It was too late to do anything after the losses started mounting, but this game should have let them know how far they have to go.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well, some of you younger folks will now have to learn what our favorite saying used to be after the Iron Bowl - "Just wait til next year."

I can remember being clobbered by bammer before; I can live with it.

I've no idea what needs to be done with our football team, but hope whomever it is that will decide will make the right choices. Tubs just said on the radio that the new OC could bring in new coaches.

Congrats to bammer, they are really better than I thought they were.

    War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Anonymous6:42 PM

    Moinca-that's what I heard also.

    ReplyDelete
  105. wtc-not trying to argue, but this season has had little to do with bad bounces. Blocking, throwing, running, tackling, kicking and coaching have been our problems.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous6:44 PM

Sounded like Chris was about to cry then.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Nothing quite as entertaining as the callers. Especially after imbibing...

    ReplyDelete
  108. Anonymous6:46 PM

You are right, but we also did not get any breaks. I think you make your own luck by being in the right place at the right time and we weren't either.

Just like tonight, once the turnovers started they just continued.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I see why Muschamp left and never looked back. He knew Auburn did not have the right coaching staff to compete with Saban and his staff on the field and in recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Tuberville said it was all his fault: This loss, the season, everything.

Said he expects to be back.

Anecdotal evidence suggests he, in fact, will be back in 2009.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anonymous6:50 PM

Rob is trying to spin it, but he just hit the key point. UAT had some players that took on a leadership role (ie make a Tebow type statement)and bring out this best of the team. If we have none of those next year, you can count on another 5-7 type team.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Of course he'll be back.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Anonymous6:51 PM

Jay-Do you think he makes his annual hunting trip?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Jay, I may have to change my name to even more depressedAUfan. So chances of a change are less than 25%? Amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I have never seen our defense manhandled like they were today. I really did not think it could happen. I do not remember marks' name being called all night. coleman knocked down that first pass; but afterthat, I don't remember any plays from him either.

    we were owned.

    congrats bama. you were better.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Anonymous6:56 PM

I am glad I still don't listen to the morning drive call in (Longshore) nor Fbaum.

Don't mind the ribbing form some of the UAT fans, just don't care about hearing the knuckleheads that will start Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anonymous6:57 PM

Q is taking about recruiting linmen and linebackers, but we have 25 or so already. maybe we can drop a few of those and get some that we really need.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I thought I heard that Tuberville said a new OC could bring in his own position coaches. Is that correct?

    ReplyDelete
  119. It appears that was correct. That may be what it takes for Tuberville to keep his job.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Anonymous7:07 PM

I thought I heard that Tuberville said a new OC could bring in his own position coaches. Is that correct?

Steve, love ya man, but who cares? The OC isn't the issue, Tuberville is. It's about time for you to put the role of Tuberville apologist to rest. It's gotten...old...and it smacks of homerism.

    ReplyDelete
  121. wtc-that brings up a good question. Either we have been recruiting the wrong players or we have done a poor job coaching and developing these players. CTT has constantly stressed how recruiting has been better and better every year. How can anyone believe he and his staff(whoever may be on it) can turn this thing around? So many people knock on the assistants, but Tubs is the head coach and these assistants are all his choices. If this staff is so bad, why do TPTB think he can suddenly put together a better one?

    ReplyDelete
  122. For once this season, Tubbs put the monkey where it belonged...on his back. I don't know if keeping him or showing him the door is the better play. In the past six years when they were going through the coaching carousel and in the throes of probation, we never put a beating on them and I don't think anyone else did either. This is embarassing for the team and the same for the Auburn family, and I for one am tired of waiting fo "next year" (losing to bama notwistanding). We have the money, the tradition, the facilities and the fan support to expect more.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Amen depressed and Kris.

Ditto me on both those posts.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I'll leave my official firing % at 35.

    Not exactly 50-50, but close.

    ReplyDelete
  125. This whole season was doomed from the start. My best friend, brother-in-law and world's biggest Auburn fan was killed in Iraq on April 25th. I will be graveside tommorrow with one question...WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Anonymous7:17 PM

Jay- did the players seem totally upset/ticked off about the loss or more like a thank goodness the season is over attitude? Just wondering how the players took the loss

    ReplyDelete
  127. I don't know if giving the OC full rain will save his job, but I am very surprised that I see childish remarks such as supporting your coach being homerism. Tuberville has been one of the winningest coaches in school history. Find another stretch in Auburn history where we won as many games as we did from 2004-2006. Good luck.

I am glad to see Tuberville taking responsibility again, but I think the more important thing is him letting the new OC run the show offensively. I think CTT's conservatism has always limited our offense. While effective, to get to the next level we need to open things up a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Embarassed 88, you make a very interesting point and I wonder if it is correct. Muschamp, and possibly Chizik, could have left because they saw the issues with our offense and didn't feel it would be corrected. I doubt we will ever know for sure, but that is a possibility.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Did he give any indication when that new OC would be hired? Guess he has to get confirmation from Gogue that he will be AU's coach next year before he starts hiring OCs.

    ReplyDelete
  130. The firing percentage could be 100% and it wouldn't matter. Who out there (that Auburn could get) is a better replacement? How many USC assistants with no head coaching experience (and horrible records when given the chance) are out there? I would rather be us with Tommy than tennessee with Lane Kiffin. For gosh sakes, his assistants could have more status than he does.

    ReplyDelete
  131. IM4AU, he has said that he plans to announce the new OC after the first week in January. He doesn't want to disrupt another teams season, which would indicate we are getting a coach from a bowl team.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Kris "The Other Little Ball of "Hate, I agree that there aren't many better coaches out there to choose from, although we have the money to go after anyone. The thing is, even if you spend the big bucks, as Notre Dame did, you may end up with a flop. There are very few proven coaches available.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Steve, I won't make snide remarks about anyone's opinions because respecting opinions is what makes this board great to me. But the players who made that run from 04-06 possible are long gone. And the next level for AU at this point is a .500 record. Things have changed.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I remember now that he said he would wait until after the bowl season indicating it is someone hopefully in a BCS bowl. Any speculations? Let's start some rumors!

    ReplyDelete
  135. So how many people are pulling for Florida next week?

    ReplyDelete
  136. I hope Tubs can pull out an awesome O-Coordinator out of his hat. Au needs to bounce back better than ever next season. We went 13-0 after a season similar to this...

    ReplyDelete
  137. Heard rumors that Urban Mayer could possibly be at Notre Dame, his dream job, after they fire Weiss.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Anonymous7:31 PM

2003 and this year are not that similar

    ReplyDelete
  139. Lord, it's going to be a long off season for Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Anonymous7:32 PM

I am very surprised that I see childish remarks such as supporting your coach being homerism.

Stupid is as stupid does. Tuberville has never been a great coach and he isn't now. I support Auburn, not the coach. You support the coach, NOT Auburn. Therein lies the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Anonymous7:33 PM

Could someone verify this for me?

Did the CBS sideline reporter say that she overheard Saban yelling to his players,"....I hate these (bleeping) guys!!...

    ReplyDelete
  142. depressedAUfan, things have changed and they will definitely change again. Whether it be for better or worse is the question. We have the talent to be a good team. At the moment I feel like we are doing a disservice to these players by not having them prepared to play football.

I am bouncing back and forth over whether Tuberville will be back, but at the moment I think his chance of staying are probably a little over 50%. If we had only lost by two touchdowns or less, I would have been pretty certain he would return.

The thing is, we as fans are not really qualified to evaluate coaches, particularly position coaches. The head coach, we can evaluate better because his job is more managerial and recruiting rather than actual coaching.

With Tuberville, it is hard to evaluate everything that went on with Franklin. I do think firing Franklin made things worse in the middle of the season and the record indicates that, but we don't know the reasons for what have occurred.

Stability in a program is very important, and possibly more important at a school like Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  143. IM4AU: Urban Mayer will not go to Notre Dame. The man isn't an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Anonymous7:35 PM

alright guys, franklin is the word of the day, we gambled and it backfired. plain and simple, yes it was tubbs fault but its one that was written in stone, i love tubbs, the ghost of auburn tigers past could not have helped us tonight, i knew the streak would end, glad it was when we were 5-7 than 10-1, etc..wde

    ReplyDelete
  145. Anonymous7:36 PM

    Klaus,

    That's what she reported.

    ReplyDelete

  150. Exactlty Steve. You simply can't throw big money at an assistant coach because of the success the program they have been at has. The Pats got better after Weis left, not worse. USC can (allegedly) put up families of big time recruits/players in plush housing and get away with it, so why hire a guy from a media darling that (allegedly) cheats? The fact is, there aren't any coaches out there that are as driven to succeed as $aban and thems the facts folks. Hopefully this season and its travails will rekindle the fire in the belly of a good and PROVEN head coach...one Tommy Tubberville.

lets be honest our defense played terrible....

linebackers small, got pushed around, DL got pushed around, db's -mike mcneil needs a replacement,

paul rhodes does not rush the passer, muschamp did, but was bad against...the pass...i dont like rhoades...

Save me the trouble of looking it up. Who is that #87 receiver for Auburn? I've somehow missed him the whole season. I was hoping he would catch one so they would call his name!

    ReplyDelete
  155. I agree that 2003 was much different. The 2003 team lost 3 games to very good teams. Even the losses to GT and Ole Miss were to pretty good teams. Only the GT loss was pretty embarrassing since we played terrible.

This year, take your pick of the most embarrassing loss. Heck, even a couple of the wins were embarrassing: UT and MSU. We could have easily been 3-8 this season. Our big wins have been against ULM, Southerm Miss, and UT-M. It don't get much worse than that.

I don't think anyone can take pride in the wins over MSU or UT. MSU had a pathetic offense, almost as bad as ours. UT had the worst team that have had, probably, sense Fulmer has been ther.

No, this team doesn't have much to hang its hat on and we have no offensive stars. Fannin had a pretty good game. Kodi does good in spots. That is pretty much it.

This is a bad offensive football team, although there is plenty of talent. But talent and production don't always line up. I see a lot of players that supposedly have the talent. When you have a few players underachieve, it is the players fault. When you have the number of offensive players we have underachieve, it is purely the coaches fault.

Whether it ends up being CTT and a new OC, or a new HC, this team must look much better prepared next season. We owe it to the players to ensure they have the coaching they need.

    next years athlons.

    SEC WEST

    1. Bama- based on this years results and returning starters.

    2. Ole Miss- Jevan Snead, Rb's, passing defense,

    3. LSU-athletes, jarrett lee, qb problems, young team

    4. Auburn/Arkansas - Arkansas will have Ryan Mallett next year, Michigans qb, Petrino can coach, Auburn will have starters back, dont know if it helps

    5. MSU- They will be last until they find a qb over 5'11.

  159. wildturkey: Already makinG preseason picks before the season is over? I'm sorry but you just can't do that. Look at UGA this year and that proves pre-season is ridiculous , much less making predictions about next season before this season is finished.

Has this Winter kid played any this year? And why was he in so much tonight? Was one of the other receivers hurt?

    ReplyDelete
  162. Kris and Steve, time may prove both of you right. I just think CTT has ran his course at AU and a new direction with fresh ideas is needed. Fans now hope to not be embarassed against teams we used to expect to beat or at least be competitive against. And what happens next year if AU struggles mightily again? Do we hear Tubs needs more time to give his new coaches and new recruits time to adjust to changes? In year 11 of his tenure? Then you end up losing a year of transition to the new coach. I have said I don't see a slam-dunk coach out there, but behind the scenes it may be a different story of who is avaliable. Maybe not.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I agree that making predictions about next season is foolish. I do think both Ole Miss and Bama will be good. As for the rest, who knows? We aren't even sure who will coach Auburn and we definitely don't know about MSU. LSU could be in a steady decline. They have got worse, not better, as the season went on. Their troubles are more than just a QB.

    ReplyDelete
  164. depressedAUfan, as for next season, I haven't really looked at the schedule, but my guess is that we would have to win at least 8 games for Tuberville to remain. That is purely off my head and I am against the number of wins determining a coaches future. A lot depends upon how good your opponents are. If we loose to UA, WV, UGA, and LSU next season, I would see Tuberville staying. If we only lose to MSU, ARK, Ole Miss, and Vandy, I would expect Tuberville to be run out of town on a rail.

Saying that they are going to have a bad season, before you know who the Cord. is or how spring goes is foolish. Au is not is not losing any big time seniors so I think chances are they will have a better season. But, hey! why don't you just check your crystal ball since you can see that far into the future...

First, WDE. 5-7 or 13-0, I still love my Auburn Tigers.

What I hope doesn't happen during the off season is a Tuscaloosa-esque freak out where we have to sacrifice our coach because "blood must be spilled." I know that many folks don't like to look back (or admit this), but this program is on a different level than when CTT assumed the helm. One very poor season shouldn't condemn him.

    ReplyDelete
  184. What I like about our defense is how many different looks we give other team . I don't mind playing sound fundamental ball. But in sec if you don't scheme a little you get 36 points hung on you. Defense looks same before every snap.

all i am saying is the west next year is not your typical west, bama will be better, not great, so will ole miss, ark and lsu...so auburn caznt just be good, they need to be real good to compete...i am die hard, if auburn is not 1st or 2nd in the west, tubbs is gone as much as i hate it, this year is his mulligan...

NT-Tez doolittle, thank god the ncaa gave hime a 6th year, he has given his all this year, 300 lbs of heart, he will be missed. Zach Clayton has a motor, but has to put on weight to be a true nose tackle, i think is more a DE.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Predictions for next year are is that by Spring Practice we will all be giddy AGAIN. So, everybody, go ahead and vent. Even though many of you want CTT to drink a cup of hemlock, the best thing is to get our Army back from the gates of Moscow and regroup.

Other predictions for this season were way off. LSU and us, well, you saw what happened. The turds were picked to finish 4th or 3rd. Ol Miss was picked to not do so well. TN was thought to be ready to break out.

Now my critique of CTT. He has chickens that have come home to roost. For one, he had ample opportunity to put a boot to the throat to bammer at least 2 times during the 6 year run, but didn't. I am not for running up the score just to do it. But taking your foot off the gas over and over sends a bad message to the players. They won't play to their full potential the whole game. Second, CTT is charged with putting out a quality product out there for the public. Last I checked, the fans pay money to see a good product. When you pay Mercedez Benz prices, you shouldn't get a Chevy. Same goes for beating Bammer. I don't want to hear anymore about how "Vanilla" we were on offense or defense or how we aren't trying to show anything. Innovative play calling means teams can know what you run, but they don't know when you run it.

I wasn't ready to play Borges all that much. It seemed he was doing what the HC wanted and the assistants were not able to bring in the wideouts needed to run any type of complex offense.

Getting back to the lack of production. I think years of 'letting off the gas' after a lead and letting the defense win it gets us to right where we are. Its like a car engine, if a team constantly scores only 3 or 4 touchdowns, then just by drift, they start scoring less and less. It is like playing down to your opponent all the time. Scoring lots of points gives the offense CONFIDENCE. THat point seems messed by CTT.

Beating a bammer team by 10 when it should have been 28. Well, it is not an objective measure but the following is how I look at it.

Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.- John Wooden

I hope I made my point. I like CTT and support him. But unless he changes his offensive outlook and starts going for jugulars, he is going to continue to have problems.

  192. Jason Bosley:

"For what Coach Tuberville has accomplished since he’s been here, to go through a season like we’ve had this year with the adversity. For there to be any discussion about his job security, I think is absolutely ridiculous. It’s absurd. If you’re going to do that to a man who’s done what he’s done for Auburn University, that’s ridiculous. That’s stupid. I don’t know where it comes from. When you have adversity, the cream of the crop rises to the top. So do the turds. That’s the way it is. People start pointing fingers real quick and it’s easy to point fingers at the head coach. But that shouldn’t even be a topic of discussion, in my opinion."

  194. Anonymous8:57 PM

I agree with Jason Bosley, Tubbs didnt miss tackles, or underthrow wr's or on Boz's case get blown off the ball, however, being a defensive man than tubbs is, he cant be happy with that weak weak performance, or that weak weak offensive performance, plus we got outcoached, not 1 trick play, no flea flickers, no reverses, nothing, vanilla as a D3 team, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..excuse me i just threw up again...
