@ 0:51:
Auburn leads, 83-71.
@ 1:52:
Auburn leads, 76-69.
FOURTH TO @ 3:46:
Auburn leads, 68-62. They're still playing well -- particularly in transition. Frankie Sullivan is really good in chaotic situations. He's quick and has a refined idea of how to distribute. He'll be a good one.
@ 6:07:
Auburn leads, 64-57. Wow. Auburn actually is rolling along on the fast break and hitting shots from the perimeter. Everything is working right now.
THIRD TO @ 7:58:
GW leads, 57-56. Auburn still working much harder than it did during the first half. Much more energy directed toward rebounding. GW isn't getting good shots from the outside. Auburn has the momentum right now.
@10:19:
Auburn leads, 54-53, on a 3-point shot from Waller.
SECOND TO @ 11:33:
GW leads, 51-49. Auburn has made some nice defensive adjustments. They're still in man-to-man, but I'm seeing less switching. It's a true man defense and GW isn't getting any shots from the perimeter. Meanwhile, the Tigers are playing more competently on offense.
@ 14:58:
GW leads, 48-41. GW had to call timeout. Auburn has scored on four of its last five possessions. The Tigers are playing with significantly more effort now.
FIRST TO @ 15:53:
GW leads, 48-36. Auburn is hustling more on the offensive glass. The team already has two put-backs this half after getting none in the first half.
HALFTIME SCORE: GW leads, 44-29
Interesting halftime numbers...
- GW is 10-of-17 from 3-point range
- Auburn is 8-of-22 from the floor.
- GW didn't attempt a free throw in the first half.
- GW's bench players are out-scoring AU's bench players 23-9.

Jay G, Who has the better athletes? Or is this a case of better athletes being beat by a bunch of basketball savvy players. Probably a combination of both I would say.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm a little premature on this, but what are the chances Lebo makes it through the season?
ReplyDelete100%.
ReplyDeleteOkay.Thought that would be the case.
ReplyDeleteDoes he just need more time?
Auburn has better athletes; they are not nearly as skilled or aware.
ReplyDeletewho ever would want to come play for auburn when we have middle school crowds?
ReplyDeletethe crowds may be "middle school", but the coach is at least junior college level
ReplyDeleteWaller is pretty damn cold today.
ReplyDeleteTINSTAFT
ReplyDeleteI don't think Lebo needs more time. Five years ought to be enough.
ReplyDeleteWe want Barkley!
ReplyDeleteSo is that 100% he won't make it through or will?
ReplyDeleteWill make it.
ReplyDeleteFire a basketball coach? Damn near impossible.
(There Is No Such Thing As a Free Throw)
ReplyDeleteTubberville said "nothing is decided" after his Friday meeting with AD per the dude on CBS?
ReplyDeleteWhat are the expectations? I agree with Jay G.
ReplyDeleteUntil there is a change in the recruiting philosophy I don't see a change in the situation at Auburn. I think Lebo can coach but I don't if what he is trying to accomplish is going to work. I really question the type of players he goes after. Maybe they will develop as the season goes on. But right now I see a lot of players that don't know the game of basketball like they should.
ok
ReplyDeletethanks for clarifying
Gogue has said several times that nothing will be decided until after the season ends.
ReplyDeleteif lebo doesn't make the NCAA tourney before the new stadium is ready, he is gone. They won't go into a new stadium with guy that has gone six or seven years with no tourney.
ReplyDeleteYou can't polish a turd, but you can overspend on a new building for a turd
ReplyDeleteIs Ensminger calling plays for the basketball team?
ReplyDeletebarber has to have the highest fouls per game average in auburn history.
ReplyDeleteIn Lebo's favor, I don't think the PTB really care or know too much about basketball.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if a coach like Jimmy Tillette or similiar in style could do better at Auburn.
In regards to recruiting, the only things that I believe are in Auburn's favor are the ability for a freshman to play right away and Auburn plays in the SEC.
Would have to be Chris Brandt or Zane Arnold, both 6-6 and trying to guard Shaq on the blocks
ReplyDeleteVot has three offensive fouls today.
ReplyDeleteD ... you're aiming for the One-Liner HoF today, huh?
skinny shaq was a bad dude
ReplyDeleteAuburn as need a new basketball arena/coliseum since Beard Eaves was first built.
ReplyDeleteBig Shaq is a bad rapper
ReplyDeletewatching this game on the computer those trumpets sound like that elephant at alabama games
ReplyDeletehow tall is lett?
ReplyDeleteLett is 6-8.
ReplyDeleteWell, here's to hoping for a comeback.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...Thanks for talking me and Rachel Maddows down, Jay.
ReplyDeleteThe GW dude just missed everything (net included) on that free throw. Holy cow.
ReplyDeleteHow did I affect you and Rachel Maddow?
ReplyDeleteToday's "every fan gets their own section" promotion looks like it has drawn a crowd of dozens
ReplyDeleteWell no one is on campus. Not that having school in session makes it much better
ReplyDeleteholy cow what a shot
ReplyDeletehargrove with his typical hail mary
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say there is nobody on campus. From the video feed, it looks like the chess club is still on campus, representin' in the stands
ReplyDeleted ... are you reading out of a book or what?
ReplyDeleteTD Ole Miss 7-0
ReplyDeletevandy lost to tenn. michigan got owned by ohio state.
ReplyDeleteAn 8 point run is pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteAU Mom
I wish I could see some SEC stuff. Living in SC means I see far more of the ACC than I would like.
ESPN 360 has not yet been embraced by the Charter here either.
Thanks, guys, for keeping me up to date.
No, JGT - I am a role player, just playing my role
ReplyDeleteYou do good work, d.
ReplyDeletethese graphics on the screen are killing me
ReplyDeleteLike Scottie Pohlman spotting up in the corner ...
ReplyDeleteThe HABOTN screen?
ReplyDeleteI hate alternating possession. I wish they would bring back the jump ball.
ReplyDeletei guess we are watching the screen that is in the arena
ReplyDeletegood pass right there
ReplyDeleteOhhh. That screen.
ReplyDeleteIt looks Auburn is settling down and playing much better.
ReplyDeleteno the game feed on the internet.
ReplyDeleteWin or not, this team came to play in the 2nd half. Impressive!
ReplyDeleteAt the break, I could feel the electricity through my computer. Those fans, with those pompoms, I want to party with them.
ReplyDeleteSmart play spotting for the 3 on the break
ReplyDeletewho'dve thought we could actually play basketball?!?
ReplyDeletedid rod bramlett just say someone's hometown? I think he reads the HABOTN
ReplyDeleteGW hasn't had many good shots at all this half. Lebo adjusted something in there. It's still man defense ...
ReplyDelete30 to 19 rebounding edge for Auburn. Good job.
ReplyDeleteAuburn was down 16-13 (rebounding) at the half, so that's really remarkable.
ReplyDeleteThis team looks much better in the second than they did in the first...
ReplyDeleteFinding themselves it looks like to me. Also hitting free-throws.
Jay it appears to me that they are doubling down on the ball and causing ball pressure. Makes it hard to find the open man.
ReplyDeleteMuch better watching the screen on the computer than being there. For one thing, you don't need a jacket (or pants for that matter). Besides, you can't really crowd-watch during the breaks with that few people around - gets kind of creepy, and creepy is more James' style.
ReplyDeletethe double appears to happen on the wing
ReplyDeleteSmart move by the GW coach ... make it a FT contest.
ReplyDeleteget reed off the floor for the contest.
ReplyDeleteThey've been trapping a whole lot more. They really weren't even trying that in the first half.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Jeff and his staff have picked out who they want to double down on.
ReplyDeleteSmart like foxes, they are.
ReplyDeletesullivan will be a stud
ReplyDeleteRest of the game will be those unintentional intentional fouls.
ReplyDeleteSullivan looks pretty studly right now, honestly.
ReplyDeleteJGT - I thought I just saw one of the yellow-jacket security folks by the edge of the court on the video feed. If all three students at the game walk across the floor to exit after the game, does that count as "storming the court"?
ReplyDeleteStat padding time.
ReplyDeleteThey'll work quickly to get the backboards down.
ReplyDeleteNice work by Auburn.
ReplyDeleteDefense wins this one.
Thank you GW for not fouling anymore.
ReplyDeleteGreat win. That was fun!
ReplyDeleteHere comes the crowd. Oh the humanity.
ReplyDeleteTurned up the defensive intensity and found the weak links on GW's team.
Tigers win, Tigers win, Tigers win, Tigers win, Tigers win.
ReplyDeleteGreat win. This game should build some confidence. What did u think Jay G?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your efforts, JGT - be safe in all that madness and frivolity. We shocked the world!
ReplyDeleteWashington is in danger of losing their perfect season against Washington State.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of padding the stats, didn't JGT affect the attendance count by bringing the family today? Hope you didn't have to pay too much to the scalpers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing the url. Enjoyed watching that game.
ReplyDeleteLOL denny

Very impressive comeback. Maybe we should just become a basketball school. That might work.
ReplyDeleteMSU beating Arkansas, Ole Miss beating LSU. Hmmmm, I have no clue.
I was pretty impressed with what they did during the second half.
ReplyDeleteOne major issue: They still have no low-post presence. Barber isn't going to be that guy. He's not really a banger.
I don't understand the inadvertent fair catch call. If the guy called for a fair catch, then the LSU players should be penalized for interference and attempting to tackle.
ReplyDeleteOh well...We have no dog in that fight.
OM is playing much better than LSU
Snead looks good right now.
ReplyDeleteThis Ole Miss game is fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteJay, thanks for turning me back on to basketball. Been a few years since I had any interest.
Oh Lee. Oh oh Lee.
ReplyDeleteShould Ole Miss win today, they will take over second place in the West. Last year they didn't win an SEC game. This year they come in second in the West. Maybe the people telling me how bad Nutt was last year are having a revelation.
ReplyDeleteHoopie - I think the penalty on Ole Miss was an invalid fair catch signal = dead ball.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an inadvertant fair catch signal called yet alone twice.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the rule book there's no such call - it's an invalid signal
ReplyDeleteAND it is defined as
Valid Signal
ARTICLE 2. A valid signal is a signal given by a player of Team B who has obviously signaled his intention by extending one hand only clearly above his head and waving that hand from side to side of his body more than once.
Invalid Signal
ARTICLE 3. An invalid signal is any signal by a player of Team B that does not meet the requirements of a valid signal (Rule 6-5-3).
Which would mean that 2nd call was a bad call. Big shocker. This year seems to have been filled with more bad calls than usual.
Mercer took Georgia Tech into OT today so maybe we can't say were that bad just yet.
ReplyDeleteI have filed my story.
ReplyDeleteI now will head back to the Gizump for some dinner with the fam. We will use a miniscule portion of out yard-sale riches to pay for our feast.
We'll at least start a campfire at 7 for The Big Football Game.
Not sure how long I'll last. I'm but one spoke in the HABOTN wheel.
How about Kent Austin for our new OC?
ReplyDelete(P.S. I always like Jay G.'s comment posts immediately after he's filed a story. He's extra poetic.)
The Cuse beats ND.
ReplyDeleteWashington and Washington State in Overtime. Don't blow it Washington, keep your perfection alive.
ReplyDeleteOh the drama in the Apple Cup.
ReplyDeleteArk is a tuff recruiting gig. The Arkansas fans didn't appreciate what they had.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the recruiting services, ND should have a lot of talent now. I haven't seen player talent, commitment or good coaching during the few short surfing stops on their games. ND has some valid reasons to make a coaching change.
Mon, thanks for digging up those rules. Is that a new rule this year? I can't ever remember seeing "invalid signal" called.
ReplyDeleteWashington, Ty Willingham, and the perfect season. It is a epic movie in the making along the gigli or santa clause conquers the martians.
ReplyDeleteOL' Les Miles will gamble at the drop of "THE HAT".
ReplyDeleteOle Miss 31 to 13
ReplyDeleteNutt better hope for a warm New Years in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to make the 7 p.m. deadline. Dinner will be on-going.
ReplyDeleteI will pre-load a campfire. I can fire it up remotely, but I cannot participate until I get home.
I'm adding Monica to the list of approved moderators. That means Monica, Sensi and James will have BANHAMMER power.
(I hope one of them plans to attend at 7 p.m.)
Hotty toddy gosh almighty
ReplyDeleteGood, their not a sensitive about UK as you are.
ReplyDeleteHoopie - It's not listed as one of the new rules.
ReplyDeleteJay - I'll be at Le Campfire.
Jay - Can you make "MonD" an admin - "Monica" is a Chatroll account I haven't been able to sign in to since the day I opened it.
ReplyDeleteOle Miss beats LSU. Mississippi State bears Arkansas. What comes next, dogs sleeping with cats?
ReplyDeleteI believe will have monkeys having sex with goats and goats sexually abusing footballs.
ReplyDeleteThat is the PG 13 version.
My family and I went to the game today. Very concerned at the half. Much better defense in the 2nd half, plus Auburn got hot from behind the arc. Very enjoyable day. The crowd, however, was beyond pitiful...
ReplyDeleteCTF ... I got bumped off the campfire ... and it's closed, so I think we're probably alone over here
ReplyDeleteSo who else is excited about the Florida-Oklahoma National Championship Game? Should be pretty good.
ReplyDeleteMichael ... that would be a heck of a game
ReplyDeleteBoth teams are clearly playing good football ... Oregon State cuold mess up Bama's BCS hopes
ReplyDeleteThen again, probably not.
ReplyDeletebama will be riding a two game losing streak. It might be hard to get in the BCS on that sort of run.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure OK will get major style points for this trouncing and probably pass Texas. I still think Texas is the best in the Big12. Texas played 4 top ten teams in a row. TT was the last one, in Lubbock and Texas almost won. I think Texas wins most any other scenerio.
ReplyDeleteTT is probably drained from the 2 games prior to this.
Michael ... love your optimism ... wish I believed it.
ReplyDeletePolls are 2/3 of the equations ... so my guess is here comes Oklahoma.
ReplyDeleteIf y'all sign in at www.chatroll.com then you won't get bumped off the chat when Jay takes it off the blog.
ReplyDeleteWhen you know a Campfire is scheduled just go to http://chatroll.com/habotn-campfire and chat away.
You could even go there now and there are a couple of people still in the room.
What a beat down.
ReplyDeleteOklahoma is doing to the number 2 team in the country, what UF did to Citadel. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteLOL...I just noticed that I have the lead quote on the blog..I feel so honored...
ReplyDeleteI love this headline:
ReplyDeleteGather Up Your Flock, Here Comes BCS Armageddon
it is shaping up to be a mess.
ReplyDeleteWould like to motion that we remove FSJ's quote.
ReplyDeleteLOL...Thanks for your support Crudup.
ReplyDeleteThe BCSBSNC is going to be hilarious this season. Even if Bama wins out, who should play them for the BCSBCNC? There are a crap load of one loss teams.
ReplyDeleteIt is another great example why the BCS is BS.
Billy Gillispie looks very unhealthy. I can't believe he just turned 49. Considering his job, work habits and well documented over-imbibing I don't know how long this poor guy is going to make it.
ReplyDeleteHere's a little UK trivia for you, Jay: Jared Carter's video game controllers are pink.
It took me a while to warm up to the idea of playoffs...you know...hate to cheapen the reg. season and cause CFB to feel like the pros.
ReplyDeleteIn the past, the plus one has seemed to be a good solution. After Bama loses, arguments could be made for more than an 8 team playoff this season.
ESPN will get a lot of opinion filler airtime out of this situation.
No more than a four team playoff. I love the regular season the way it is. A four team playoff will steal a little bit from it, but not everything.
ReplyDeleteI like the plus one system, or the 4 team playoff. That is all you need. You will always have the best within those 4 teams in my opinion. There is no excuse for not having this.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everybody call it the Auburn-Alabama game instead of the Alabama-Auburn game?
ReplyDeleteThis is on that surely deserves to be placed under the scope.
"...a refined idea of how to distribute."
After that quote Jay sprung upon us I decided to go make a spot of black spiced tea. Extravagantif I must say.
ReplyDeleteCrud, When I grew up in Prattville(Bammer territory), we called it the Ala-AU game. Maybe you are primarily around AU fans that say AU-Ala b/c of preference.
ReplyDeleteAnother theory might be that Auburn is a city name and Alabama is a state name and it verbally flows better.
OK...that's enuff, Denny has already tagged me as the most wordy on here.
Yeah, that comment by FSJ is pretty much TMI.
ReplyDeleteWatching NFL ball on CBS and they previewed the "Auburn-Alabama" game. Guess it just rolls off the tongue better.
ReplyDeleteplus everyone likes us more so they put Auburn first.
ReplyDeleteNew thread up.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late start today.
