I will say this about HABOTN. I have been pretty darn busy lately and now that I have time, I see a lot of different names here. This place is exploding.
Hey Jaym Heard you talking about the impact of the PPL (Phillip Pierre-Louise) loss this season on the Roundtable.
Any idea how he's coming along rehabilitation-wise? I know with a sprinter like him, knee injuries can be a little more tricky to fully recover from. Any updates from him?
Give 'em hell, Jay! I'm so sick of hearing Longshore going on and on about how the Muschamp decision was directed at Auburn - and that it has a huge impact on what happens at Auburn.
Yes, I got my order in for the t-shirt. I only got one. I did consider getting seven so I would have one for each day of the week, but I thought that might be considered over the top.
Jim Fyffe's voice will always mean Auburn football to me. He was a class act and definitely more than just an announcer. He was obviously a huge fan too.
Scottie B ... I remember those days fondly. For me that was in the 70's and I was hearing names like William Andrews and Joe Cribbs. Lot of losing going on even though we had some great RB's. The Man's name was Barfield. Barfield = lots of losses.
I loved Jim. We had a lot of good talks. I was so scared about flying to Syracuse for that game in 2001. This was right after the 9/11 attacks. I don't like flying anyway.
He flew with me up there and back. We talked about Kentucky.
Afterward, I asked him how he was able to talk about Kentucky for so long.
He said (approximately): I knew you were scared and I figured if I talked long enough, the flight would be over before you knew it.
my best friend just scored 2 club level seats to the Titans-Jets game Sunday with a parking pass for FREE.......FREE! and i got spousal approval to boot! yeehaw!

ReplyDeleteJim Fyffe was the one thing (well, two since we didn't play in the BCS bowl) that was missing from the 2004 season.
ReplyDeleteLe sigh, I still miss hearing him.
AU Mom
Jim Fyffe......man, i'll always remember those saturday afternoons outside with my dad and the radio. good stimes.
ReplyDeleteSteve, it was good talking to ya earlier. your payment is in and you're good to go. thanks.
It was good talking to you too, Scottie. Oh. My bad. You were talking to Steve.
ReplyDeleteScottie B ... I remember those days fondly. For me that was in the 70's and I was hearing names like William Andrews and Joe Cribbs. Lot of losing going on even though we had some great RB's. The Man's name was Barfield. Barfield = lots of losses.
ReplyDeleteI was an abused child. I heard mostly Eli Gold growing up.
ReplyDeleteMonica:
ReplyDeleteIt's been five years, and I suspect we're another five years before we'll BEGIN to get over losing Jim.
A great voice that grated on the Bammers.
Ask any true Auburn fan, and they'll clicked their 5 favorite Fyffe calls. Just like that.
I'm sure Rod's a great guy, but he's no Jim. And Stan's no Charlie Trotman either.
I loved Jim. We had a lot of good talks. I was so scared about flying to Syracuse for that game in 2001. This was right after the 9/11 attacks. I don't like flying anyway.

That's just good lookin' out.
my goodness monica. i can't seem to do anything right by you today! let me try it again:
ReplyDeleteIT WAS A TREMENDOUS PLEASURE TO TALK WITH TODAY MISS MONICA. MY DAY WAS ENLIGHTENED BEYOND MEASURE BY YOUR LOVELY VOICE. :)

11 and 0, 11 and 0
ReplyDeleteAuburn's 11 and O
My personal favorite, which we all heard on radio, since Auburn was on probation that year.
AU Mom
Very cool story, Jay.
ReplyDeleteMuch better, Scottie. Just follow the script I sent you from now on and we'll be good.
ReplyDeleteNow, you hush. You know I think you're the best.
karma must be making it up to me today.
ReplyDeletemy best friend just scored 2 club level seats to the Titans-Jets game Sunday with a parking pass for FREE.......FREE! and i got spousal approval to boot! yeehaw!

Alrigjht ------ When does the radio thingy start.......
ReplyDelete[[[[ blank stare]]]]]
I'll work up a blog based on something we discussed on the radio.
ReplyDeleteNice score, Scottie! You deserve it. Have fun! (That Mrs. Scottie is a nice lady.)
ReplyDeletejet,
ReplyDeleteCP's dunk against LSU was the best I've ever seen.
I loved the way Jim would call out the hometown of the guy that dunked. Hello Dakar, Senagal.
HEY HEY HEY ----- that totally reminds me of something.
ReplyDeleteI never remember to mention it when I can T-Talk but I like the idea of using "Touchdown Auburn" as a tribute to Mr. Fyffe but.....
I would LOVE to hear Rod B use the players HOMETOWN or High School on TD's as well.
"HEEEEEEEELLO FT. SMITH ARAKANSAS!!!"
anyone?
