Third quarter, Ala leads 29-0

We're discussing the third quarter of Auburn's game at Alabama.

  • Alabama's first possession of the second half: Four and out.

  • Auburn's first possession: Brad Lester loses the ball on the drive's second play. Alabama recovers.

  • Alabama's second possession: Wilson to Nikita Stover for a 39-yard touchdown pass. Leigh Tiffin's PAT kick was blocked.

    • ALABAMA 16, AUBURN 0

  • Auburn's second possession: Ends on a fumble. Kodi Burns dropped a poor snap from Jason Bosley.

  • Alabama's third possession: Mark Ingram 1 run. Auburn had Alabama held on a 3rd-and-14. Wilson hit Ingram on a short pass and the tailback turned that into a 27-yard gain.

    • ALABAMA 22, AUBURN 0

  • Auburn's third possession: Three and out. Nothing doing.

  • Alabama's fourth possession: Ingram scores on a 15-yard run. It's getting ugly. All seven plays on that drive were runs. Alabama covered 50 yards. That's a wrap, kids.

    • ALABAMA 29, AUBURN 0

  • Auburn's fourth possession: Three and out. Nothing.

  • Alabama's fifth possession: In progress.

  11. I wonder what the Tubs watch will be after the game. I bet it is reinstated with this sorry performance.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I liked it better when our 1st drives of the 2nd half were 3 & outs

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anonymous4:54 PM

My god, even a FG holder can complete a TD pass and we cannot

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sen'Derrick ... can you kick a FG?

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Defense is still fighting..

    ReplyDelete
  16. Defense has to create a play.

    ReplyDelete

    3rd & 14. pass for 27.. that is AU 2008 in a nutshell

    ReplyDelete
  20. The Defense is throwing the towel in Reynolds. I disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Danielson: "Only so long that a defense can hang in a football game."

Yep. That moment passed at halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Funny.

Screen passes NEVER work for us.

    Funnier:

    They ALWAYS work against us.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Of course that hold on Bynes helped a little.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Defense is about to create a play ... mayue ... Hello Dolly?

    ReplyDelete
  25. A screen pass, that makes it even worse.

    ReplyDelete

  29. Not Powers best game

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not to pile on Tommy, but Danielson nailed it ...

Some of them get it a little better than others.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I bet we see what I have always wanted Tubs to do to bama and that is step on the throat and not let us back up.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The stupid thing is that 1 through 85 ... Alabama is not any better than we are.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anonymous4:58 PM

only a matter of time before 23-0. i hear the fat lady warming up and the fat guy coming onto the field

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't care what anyone says, if this ends up something like 37-0 or so, Tub might not be around next year.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous4:58 PM

    Well, that'll do it.

    War Eagle anyway!

Thanks for the memories. Good-bye 2008.

    ReplyDelete
  36. They aren't better...they are just better coached, don't make mistakes and playing with confidence.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous4:59 PM

sorry, 22-0. you are right. we never put our foot on someone's throat and finish them off

    ReplyDelete
  38. I told friends this week ... i hope this game doesn't drive the decision ... if they've decided to make a move and have someone ready, that's fine with me ... but if they are making a decision based on emotion, then that's bad news

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lets predict the final score, I say 43-0.

    ReplyDelete
  40. if this gets to 45-0, we might get a croom like resignation.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 3rd-and-14. Then 1st-and-10.

    Can't do that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah Right, No way Tubs says goodbye to his buyout. He stays or is fired.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Remember when Brad Lester said we would win these games by a good amount?

We'll he didn't touch the field vs UGA and was so scared of getting hit he layed the ball down in this game.

Not the legacy you want to leave a as a senior RB.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous5:01 PM

    29-0

    ReplyDelete
  45. thats just bad luck. This year just wasn't ours.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nothing is going right for us. NOT ONE FREAKING THING.

    ReplyDelete
  47. We have the #@$%#43 luck ever

    ReplyDelete
  48. Seriously..has ANYONE ever seen a team this snakebit?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous5:02 PM

Mario came to play at least. Along with SMarks, AC, Tez, and a few others. Hey, they played...just not well in terms of discipline and assignments.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well that kickoff return sucked.

Looks like a lot of demons are going to be exercised today for Alabama.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous5:03 PM

run kodi... we are not even trying to win now....run kodi twice???

    ReplyDelete
  52. We always beat them by 10 or less...when they beat us it's always ugly.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't care if we lose by 100.

    We need Tubs to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anonymous5:04 PM

if we punt, Arenas will most likely run it back for a TD

    ReplyDelete
  55. You think that they are spying Kodi? I hope Ensminger / Nall and Knox are gone. NOT A FAN.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lundquist- 2 defenders on one WR does not qual man coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Malpractice Moore

    ReplyDelete
  58. Kodi has a very high release point again.

He got his mechanics better for a couple of weeks, but oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous5:05 PM

    even a punt is scary....

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous5:06 PM

    Getting gashed

    ReplyDelete
  61. Bama paid Saban SIX MILLION DOLLARS to win this game.

Looks like they got their $$$$$ worth.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I can almost guarantee Saban isn't going to do like Tub would do in this situation and sit on the lead.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Reynolds ... I disagree ... we need new energy ... but I'm afraid we've entered a bad marketplace, so we're stuck with what we have ... which is someone who was a good coach 4 years ago who is getting out worked, out coached and embarrassed on national TV.

    ReplyDelete
  64. No one can convince me that this team is playing hard. They have quit. This is embarrassing.

I apologize in advance for my rumblings, but I don't take this very well. I can stand losing, but losing like this is unacceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anonymous5:08 PM

Reynolds - They pay him the $$$$$$ to win and build a program.

I'd say he's well on his way.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I've said it all day.

You give Saban and Tuberville two weeks to prepare for each other and see what you have. I'll take Saban every time.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I say can Rhoads. NOT A FAN.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anonymous5:09 PM

    Better come up with something.

Most of these dudes are underclassmen for UAT.

They'll be back like the Terminator.

And not the sorry T3 or TV show

    ReplyDelete
  69. This may be enough to end Tuberville's reign. Seriously. This is a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous5:10 PM

    Agreed, Jay G.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm gonna step away from the computer for a while ...

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous5:10 PM

    See ya, Tubs.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous5:10 PM

well, I hate that rammer jammer song just like everyone else, but after this performance, they really did beat the hell out of us.... you cannot convince me or others of anything else, or else you did not watch this game. WE HAVE QUIT... no passion or fire or desire...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hey Sensible...

The Terminator TV show wasn't that bad...

(trying to chat about ANYTHING other than this game)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Most of our guys are underclassman too, and boy what a bad taste this year should leave in their mouths.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jay- I could care less at this very minute if Tubs returns. This is a sorry piece of crap product he has produced today and all of this season. If it is, then he deserves it. I've had it.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Well save this game, Tubs' record against Saban was 4-2. He is completely overmatched in this game. There wasn't much he could do.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anonymous5:12 PM

Jay, updated % ? Any rumblings in pressbox? what are other saying, or is it just mostly shock?

    ReplyDelete
  79. our d can't generate turnovers...we lose

    ReplyDelete
  80. Anonymous5:12 PM

Terminator TV show - cheap knock off

    Just like this mess

    ReplyDelete
  81. Eddie, you're going to have a lot of support for that position.

This may the home run the Tubs haters wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Two of Tub's 4 wins vs Saban were over him in the 1st year he was at LSU and Bama.

Q just stated that the LB's are out of position on every play.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Bear ... I'm trying to understand why my internet connection comes and goes.

Can't really assess the feeling around the press box yet.

    ReplyDelete
  84. It's time for a change. We had 2 weeks to get ready and have everything in order for this game and we look even worse than we have most of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Anonymous5:14 PM

    Good grief...everyone jumped on that

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anonymous5:14 PM

our boys are lost, scared, don't care, ready for the season to end, non-inspired, god, the list could go on and on

    ReplyDelete
  87. I'm surprised Lester is in the game

    ReplyDelete
  88. Anonymous5:15 PM

Hope Lester makes the most of his degree

    ReplyDelete
  89. I just don't think we should fire someone in response to a down year and Nick Saban.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anonymous5:15 PM

I don't blame the players...that's not fair to them.

I do blame the coaching. Without reservation

    ReplyDelete
  91. I know Burns gets rattled easily, but does he even have the balls to try to throw beyond 5 yards downfield?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous5:16 PM

except for Arena League, no more football for Lester after this

    ReplyDelete
  93. I blame Kodi for not being willing to make any plays beyond the 1st down marker.

He's scared to death to stretch the field...everything is underneath and we can't have that right now.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Anonymous5:17 PM

CCR- this showing is pathetic, and we have not improved at all from game to game. CTT needs to go

    ReplyDelete
  95. You know what I REALLY like?

The GREAT halftime adjustments we made!!!

    (extreme sarcasm added)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Anonymous5:17 PM

its his fault we are down..... and in the process of being shutout by our rival. Something he was never able to do in 6 years.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I agree Mr. S. I don't blame the players, I blame the Coach. Count me off the Tubs support and now a supporter of Change.

    ReplyDelete
  98. nick saban's new nick name is LITTLE DEBBIE!

    Do i smell a sponshorship?
"Little Debbie oatmeal pies and Coke! A great pair for saban and alabama football!"

    ReplyDelete
  99. COACHING? (sorry did i already say that?)

    ReplyDelete
  100. Anonymous5:20 PM

Roll that Ford to the farm TUBS!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Anonymous5:21 PM

Could this thing hurry up and just end.

    ReplyDelete
  102. goodness. i need to drink more. i'm sober and i can't handle it anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  103. People who want to defend Tuberville after this...fiasco...can just flat suck my...lollipop.

If I were a betting man (and I'm not), I'd have readily taken AU and the 14.5 points before kickoff.

This is just a ******* beatdown. One of these teams is well coached. One is not.

Tommy, don't let the door hit ya where Gawd split ya! JUST GET OUT!

    ReplyDelete
  104. To get who Bear? Who could we bring in, in this coaching market, that would be a surefire improvement over CTT?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Anonymous5:23 PM

I know we beat them 6 tiimes in a row, but never like this. we are getting thoroughly outmanned, beat, whooped, embarrased, and basically taken behind a woodshed, and our HC seeems to be taking it in stride. no emotion

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous5:24 PM

Saban= intensity for a bad punt up 28 points. CTT= arms folded and a smirk, knowing he has that $6 million lotto tix.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I HATE Saban.

    The man is evil.

    ReplyDelete
  108. CCR4Au- Is really hard to improve over this year? This year is totally Tubs fault. NOBODY elses.

    ReplyDelete
  109. If you're blaming this on Kodi Burns, you're none too smart. This is coaching, coaching, coaching (and recruting, recruiting, recruiting.)

Tuberville had his glory years. Keeping him on is just giving him his gory years. TIME TO GO!

    ReplyDelete
  110. this is beyond embarrassing. i don't know what else to say.

    ReplyDelete
  111. 2.9 yards per play so far in this game.

    2.7 per rush.

    3.2 yards per pass attempt.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Seriously, WHAT ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE AT HALFTIME???

    ReplyDelete
  113. Anonymous5:26 PM

No surefire names now, season not 100% over; there will be more firings. AFter 10 years, many things get stagnent, and changes are needed. Jobs, teams, etc...

    ReplyDelete
  114. Anonymous5:26 PM

My Gridiron Breakdown partner sends his regards.

and says RTR...he's been waiting on that

    ReplyDelete
  115. Anonymous5:26 PM

    nice blocking on the screen

    ReplyDelete
  116. Wow, look a screen that doesn't work for us.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Again....SCREEN PASSES NEVER WORK FOR US...

    ONLY AGAINST US..

    ReplyDelete
  118. Anonymous5:27 PM

Derek Winter getting some serious PT today

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'm not blaming the game on Burns, I'm blaming the lack of offense. He's had several times back there where he could have taken a chance but wouldn't pull the trigger.

We don't need 3-5 yard passes.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Who is number 87 for Auburn?

    He is awful..

    ReplyDelete
  121. Anonymous5:27 PM

    well, let's avoid the shutout....

    ReplyDelete
  122. If Auburn starts making coaching decisions based on emotion, then it does not spell well for our stability as a program. Recruits will leave in droves.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Anonymous5:28 PM

nice attempt of a middle screen. GEEEZUS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Wow, a screen pass set up that was a disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anonymous5:28 PM

Last time Bama shut out AU - coaching change

    ReplyDelete
  126. Kodi again throws the worlds longest spike.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Who could we bring in, in this coaching market, that would be a surefire improvement over CTT?

Paul Johnson. And as far as "surefire improvement" goes, I'd gladly roll the dice. Tuberville is a four+ loss coach. Period. AU fans that feel otherwise need merely consult the record books before apologizing.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Last time Alabama shut us out, the coaching change was already decided before kickoff.

    ReplyDelete
  129. CCR4AU- It worked well for bama last coaching change.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anonymous5:29 PM

if recruit watch this game, they will decomitt in droves...

    ReplyDelete
  131. Anonymous5:30 PM

Clinton Durst is the Anders Book Store player of the game

    ReplyDelete
  132. Can WE NOT GET A FLAG???

IS BAMA ABOVE A PASS INTERFERENCE CALL?

    ReplyDelete
  133. What about the 4 coaching changes before they landed on Saban?

    ReplyDelete
  134. How well did that work for them?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Anonymous5:33 PM

with Bama getting Satan out of the NFL, that shows just about ANYTHING is possible when it comes to getting a HC at a major SEC school, if that school is wiling to pay. It was Satan saying "I'm not gonna be the next coach at Alabama" then, boom, 12-0 after 1 full year. (meaning the 2nd year). Who say UM getting RR from WVU? Anything can happen in the world of coaching. and we need, no MUST have some of that anything to happen on the plains...

    ReplyDelete
  136. CCR4AU- WE can agree to disagree. I can say that I was on the bring Tubs back bandwagon until this game. I promise you I am not the only person that feels this way right now.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Isn't it true on every play that if you can shake your last tackle then you can score?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Anonymous5:34 PM

They are mashing us now. Our D line is worn down totally.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Take 2004 out of the equation. Is Tubs record good enough year in and out to keep at Auburn?

    ReplyDelete
  140. Anonymous5:35 PM

Saban says screams at his players, "Don't you know how much I hate these guys?"

If Tubs did that, he'd be called classless.

Saban does it and they give him a medal.

    ReplyDelete
  141. New thread up.

(Internet connection pooped out on me again. Sorry.)

    ReplyDelete
  142. So we get killed by one of the best teams in the country during a year where we haven't done anything and you expected more? I guess I will be in the minority on this. I just fear that a coaching change would spell a dark period for Auburn. I really hope I am wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  143. What about the 4 coaching changes before they landed on Saban?

What about 'em? Are you satisfied with mediocrity? AU under Tuberville is an underachieving program in decline. WHAT IT IS WITH YOU PEOPLE?

Bama has been subpar for years. Now they aren't. AU has how many SECCG appearances (not to mention trophies) under Tubs? Thats right. Two appearance. One SECCG championship. And since 2004...nothing but rolling (at an ever increasing rate) downhill.

Tubs couldn't even bring himself to step in and demand that the offensive staff give the starting nod to a future NFL first round draft pick at QB i n 2003. (Quote: If I wanted to run a high school offense, I'd start Jason Campnbell.) Against UGA this year, Fannin gets hot, scores both offensive TD's...and then sits with the game on the line? Are you kidding me?

Tommy Tuberville needs to cash his lotto ticket and leave. Do people here realize just how much 6 million dollars is? If you make 50 grand a year, you'd have to work 120 YEARS to make 6 mil. Feel bad for Tubs? NOT!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Anonymous5:43 PM

I agree roman and have all year. Some people on this board either don't love auburn like they say or they don't understand football at all.

    ReplyDelete
  145. It isn't you people, It seems I am the only one defending him here. I am not satisfied with mediocre. I do not, however, want to see us go through what Bama just went through. Win lose or draw I want a program with class. Bama's program was filled with kids with criminal records and paid off recruits. I am going to enter the work force soon outside of Alabama and I don't want my colleagues to hear about the things that have gone on during the shuffling coaches period at Bama.

    ReplyDelete
  146. What I meant to say was that I don't want Auburn to have national headlines with players getting arrested, or paid off, or coaches that are acting immorally. I know that just because it happened to Bama that it doesn't mean it will happen to us, but I don't want to make coaching changes on emotions. That is would could happen.

    ReplyDelete
