Video report, 11/23

New closing music. Something went wrong during the final 2 seconds of that, but I'm tired and it'll just have to stay wrong.

Enjoy.

  3. Another good vid, Jay. G. Thanks.

    It's all Gran's fault. Glad that's settled.

    Living on a Prayer, eh?

I look forward to the clean version of the new music. Heard a little harmonica action with a Blues Traveler feel.

  12. Ensminger and Gran ... what a collection of idiots. There's nothing sarcastic to say that will make any of that any better.

  13. "Live to punt."

Has that been our team slogan for the year? Gooooood night Ms. Agnes! That makes me want to say every curse word I have ever heard plus any that I could make up on the fly. Good grief Charlie Brown. That's pitiful.

    "Live to punt"

Unfortuntely Javier Arenas will be the recipients of said punts. Is it wrong to hope for a shank out of bounds?

  16. So, when will the "Live To Punt" t-shirts be ready?

  17. Reverse psychology day:

    Any other suggestions?

  19. just heard Mr. Sensible on 740. good morning.

  20. I second the motion for the "Live To Punt" T-shirts. That sounds like our offensive slogan the last two years.

I hear punters are knocking down our doors for a chance to sign here.

  21. if you're hell-bent on the 'punt' shirts eddie i may be able to manafacture a few out the back of my saturn. i have peeps. ;)

I'm all over the "Live to Punt" stuff. That's classic. How about a picture of all the coaches pointing at one another? That's appropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Live to punt ... didn't realize how awkward that sounds.

    ReplyDelete
  24. live to punt is a great philosophy. if you think about it, there are always 11 tacklers on defense and 9 blockers (excluding the qb) on offense. statistically, every offensive play should fail. just punt and avoid the inevitable.

    ReplyDelete
  25. punt to live would be more accurate

  26. Anyone else wish that the Iron bowl was this past weekend. I am not a big fan of the Iron Bowl being on Thanksgiving weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Eddie ...

I'm absolutely with you. Having the game before T-Day reminds of me of family discussions of the game ... like in 2001, when I grabbed my nephew by the throat when he pointed out that we could still go to Atlanta if we beat LSU in the make up game.

    Good times.

  28. it's tough trying to fly in on the busiest air traffic day of the year. spread opened up at 14 points.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i don't usually like the idea of having the week off before the iron bowl but i think that this year it is great. we obviously needed the extra practice and rest time.

  30. First time in 13 years I'm happy I'll be in West Virginia for Thanksgiving.

  31. maybe it's the fact that i'm nursing a titans-jets hangover this morning but i don't have a feeling of gloom & doom about this weekend's game. am i the only one?

  33. 1st time in 3 years that I am depressed about spending Thanksgiving in Tuscaloosa with the in-laws. Well...that may not be entirely true but I'm not looking forward to the high probability of watching the IB with my bama-loving father & grandfather in-law while the wife goes to a wedding.

Any suggestions on how I can save my marriage this weekend??

  34. Fain illness.
Surprise her with a 3 day cruise.
Surprise her with a trip to (anywhere).

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'd love to help, but I don't handle my own in-laws situation well.

I'd just be gracious and hope for Gus Malzahn.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Feel for you AUBigcat. I actually wish I was going to the game. Due to financial reasons, I will be saving my money for my vacation in a couple of weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ordinarily, I'd suggest the air tank special from No Country for Old Men, but Jay G. has the better advice.

Amazing Grace and Amazing Gus, how sweet the sound.

If that doesn't work, then the air tank.

OK. With all the punting talk. How is this possible. Robert Dunn, with all his running backwards, and fielding punts in the endzone over his shoulder, etc., etc., it is amazing that Dunn ranks ahead of the much heralded Javier Arenas in punt returning. Thru Nov 22 Dunn is ranked 4th in the NCAA, Arenas is 8th. Dunn's avg/return is 17.00 while Arenas's is 14.92.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That's an average per return, right? How many has Arenas returned for points?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Marcellus,

As my Spanish friend Pablo Cruise says:

    Las statisticas es por chumpos.

Here's the question: which one do you want to return kicks for you?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous10:06 AM

Hey do we have a Malzahn sigthing? Watch out Jay, some od the HOTTIES think he doesn't have enough experience to coach at an SEC team.

BTW, I was thinking that Franklin would be better fitted, with his unshaved, shirt hanging out, ill fitting clothes self, for selling pine straw out of the back of hoop'd truck in my neighborhood in the coming weeks.

  42. Anonymous10:08 AM

Arenas's approach is, Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead.

DUnn's approach is, Damn torpedos are coming.

    ReplyDelete
  43. We need Dunn to return to his fundamentals: run as if the cops are chasing him.

OK, I'm sorry. That was mean.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous10:09 AM

I wasn't trying to make the case that Dunn is a better punt returner. Just trying to show how catastrophically wacky this year has been for Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Understand ... not sure that you had to use the word "wacky."

    This year has been "catastrophically."

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anonymous10:11 AM

..and don't call me a chump.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Marcellas - I figured as much. I was just wondering if you happened to actually know how many points Arenas had on returns.

    ReplyDelete
  48. a la bruce springsteen, "baby we were born to punt"

    ReplyDelete
  49. You're no chump, M to 2nd power.

    You're a linebacker.

  51. Anonymous10:14 AM

Dunn 1 TD, Arenas 2--but he got one down to the one or two the other week I think

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh well thanks for the advice/non-advice guys. Monica I like the 'fain illness' idea. I'm seriously considering that one.

On the OC front, I'm hearing the name Chuck Long come up. Former OC at OU and immediate past HC for SDSU. Any thoughts on that Jay?
