Friday chatter

Hey everyone. Welcome back to the temperate world we like to call the HABOTN.

I will be appearing on WMSP AM 740's afternoon program around 1:20 p.m. CST today. The station streams its content on the internets. Have a listen if you'd like.

FREEMAN MAKES IT OFFICIAL: Our friends at AuburnSports.com reported this morning that linebacker Eltoro Freeman has faxed his LOI to Auburn officials. He becomes the second player to sign with Gene Chizik. The first was defensive tackle Nick Fairley. Both played junior college ball and are expected to participate in spring drills.

  1. Jay G- WAR EAGLE!!! Thanks for that great news. Happy Holidays!!!

  2. I wonder who will be the HABOTN Hottie of the Week?

    It's a tough call.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Yay!!!

I am somehow liking the hire better now that I know the president made it. Jay G, what is your take on the AP article in the paper?

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's been an interesting week. Thanks for keeping us in the loop, Jay.

Glad to see Eltoro come through, too.

    ReplyDelete
  5. i didn't know there was a hottie of the week

    Hottie of the Year

    I like it!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I read "Mark Richt confirmed today that Auburn is talking with Stacy Searels for an assistant job. He did not know whether they were discussing a coordinator position." No word on Garner.

    ReplyDelete
  9. here is some info to CGC time on JOX. props to EWood

    http://blog.al.com/auburnbeat/2008/12/chizik_recruit_now_build_staff.html

As we talked about the game of chess, you've always got to have a plan, you're always staying three or four steps ahead, and I am that way right now with our staff.

The decision I had to make when I took the job is do I put all my time into creating a staff, knowing I already know basically what direction I'm headed, or do I go out there and find out who my recruits are? Obviously, one right now is much more important than the other, and that's getting out and seeing who these kids are and getting in the door.

The staff is going to be there. Many of them know the direction that I want to go. When we get done with this -- I'm going to be fighting and battling and scrapping for the next two days. When that slows down, then we'll go in the next direction and that is to start putting together the best Auburn staff that we can put together.

I feel real good about it. Obviously I can't divulge exactly what direction we're going to go in. But I can tell the Auburn people that it will be an extremely good staff.

  10. I get the vibe that "Garner" thanks Aubie :), maybe a long shot. That actually surprises me a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  11. oooooo, hottie of the week. interesting. I vote for the guy who was calling for the death penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sounds like Garner is staying in GA.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hottie of the week should be SteveFC for always seeing the positive in everything Auburn related no matter how dire the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  14. RK- I believe if Steve was going over a cliff in a car he would talk about how the general lee was always able to land safely and to not worry and give the landing a chance :).

    ReplyDelete
  15. Steve sees the glass an 1/8 full instead of 7/8 empty, and I applaud him for that.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I do too Michael. I do too. His life must be truly blessed.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Aubie is spreading lies.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Safe travels to all of you hotties who are already on the road and in the air.

I sorta heard Chizik. It was light on sports content, but a good "glimpse of Chizik, the Dude". I thought he did a nice job.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Dancing Monkeys for hottie of the week.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I doubt garner will come, i just hope it isn't nix. No offense to patrick and what he's done at AU, i like auburn chances better with him in Miami.

    ReplyDelete
  21. spreading lies?
We should be used to it by now.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Guess the Greg Davis from TX as OC rumor has already been put to bed.

Don't know any other biggies that could be a possiblity. Still hopin'...

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm used to being beat over the head with a club untl I say Mercy. That is the Auburn way.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I believe Steve might be the real Santa Claus.

Anyone not getting the streaming audio working from the link Jay provided?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anyone aside from auburnundercover pulled their advertisement from finescum?

lol, how am i supposed to know if i don't hear a bumper, classy

    ReplyDelete
  26. Whats the word on chuck long ??

    ReplyDelete
  27. Eddie,

You've had a lot of insight from your past experience....thanks for sharing it.

I read the posts quite often but seldom have the time to get in.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  32. D. Miller I feel like breaking out the glove and fungo bat and take some infield.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Weather on the gulf has been beautiful today, clouding up a lil bit now. This yankee girl fiancee of mine is loving this compared to being in central pa and being snowed in.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Brrrr Baby its cold outside up there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Josh speaks the truth on Tavaris jackson

    ReplyDelete
  36. WCOV has an article about flying cars on their website right now.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The AJC is talking about Searles to Auburn.....
    http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/uga/stories/2008/12/19/georgia_searels_auburn.html

Also for those of you who are tired of Finb-bum try Dunaway and Brown...they are on 690am in Bham. they are bamma guys, but they dont bash Auburn when they get the chance

    ReplyDelete
  38. HABOTN Hottie of the Week?

    Cobra.

    Not.

    I vote for Eltoro

    ReplyDelete
  39. somebody call josh and tell him doug is a homer and doesn't respect utah. Doug is typical good ole boy network.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I guess I'll miss Jay on the radio today. I can't get the streaming audio from their page to work.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I second the vote for el toro.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Eltoro is definitely Honorary Hottie of the Week.

    ReplyDelete
  43. For you HOTTIES that what a glimpse of the future, take a peek!

    ReplyDelete
  44. What is wrong with josh voting for change? Mr moon has won a lot of rep points with me this past week. Especially saying he'd proclaim utah at least co national champ if they beat bama.

    ReplyDelete
  45. people talk slower on alabama am radio than south florida am radio.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Moon also backed Finebaum with his "Plantation" comment about the Auburn board.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I would like to officially announce my candidacy for Hottie of the Week
    Qualifications:
    Extremely good looking -->
Never use "back door" methods when contacting candidates.
Have never danced like a monkey... while sober.
    modest.
    My record? 6-19!
I have $141 in a Colonial Bank checking account (ties to you-know-who)
I have often been told that I am "the right fit".
    Good table manners... while sober.
Have all my original fingers and most toes.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Aubie,

I'll vote for ya'....as long as you don't mention how the toes got lost.

    ReplyDelete
  49. OK heres my shot. I have doulbe sided duct tape for toupee. My man beater t-shirt has only one hole and one stain on it. I keep my suspenders on most of the time and have clean boxers on.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think josh said what he thought. Nothing wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Monica u just got a shout out.

    ReplyDelete
  52. dang,my internets are slow. monica's shoutout was already documented before I heard it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jay can you tell that crying baby in the background to quiet down?

    ReplyDelete
  54. My Roundtable won't stream today either so I'm missing everything.
    :-(

Don't talk bad about Josh Moon.

If Aubie gets Hottie of the Week I'm taking him and his toes out for cocktail.

Someone give me the transcript of my shoutout. Feel free to embelish.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jay's legitimate.
So am I. Yet another qualification for my campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 'when I was up in huntington...speaking of which, let me give a shoutout to Monica, a hottie up there."

    or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I had to download something to listen to the stream today guys

    ReplyDelete
  58. MICHAEL!!!!

    -self shout-out

    ReplyDelete
  59. TB,
I'll go throw some BP if you want to get in a few swings...
This is warmer/better weather than you ever get early in a baseball season.

I should be out playing golf right now.

    ReplyDelete
  60. thank you, Peter and thanks for the shout out, Doug! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Monie,
You are welcome to take my toes, but I may be busy.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Agreed D.Miller, there is a golf course calling my name.

    ReplyDelete
  63. He said what he thought, but I haven't heard him support it other than saying the great Turner Gill was a better choice than Gene Chizik.

Anyway, what's Jay having to say on the radio? Anything earth shattering?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I dl the starlight plugin. I think the connection is working, my non-profit connection is just really bad.

    ReplyDelete
  65. why is nobody's stream working? mine popped right up.

    ReplyDelete
  66. My stream is working also.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I could shag some fly balls, I was an outfielder back in the day. Would have be real high. Im not a fleet of foot as I used to be.

    ReplyDelete
  68. harsh - denied and rejected by Aubie

My vote is now up for auction.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm not calling in, but what's the area code if I wanted to?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mines working.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Don't feel dejected Monie.
I am holding out for this hottie
    -->

    ReplyDelete
  72. poor ol kyle.........

    ReplyDelete
  73. This streaming conversation is feeling more and more like a proctologist visit.

Peter - Call toll free at 1-800-239-9544.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yeah, Aubie - that helped a lot. Sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  75. pick me pick me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jay says he's glad Dye is back in the fold and been invited by chizik to visit the facility and practice anytime.

    ReplyDelete
  77. who are these people? so far, my exposure to the rountable has been a conversation about hospitals and trivia chicks, not exactly A+ radio...then again, I hated both Dan Lebotard and Jim Rome the first time I heard their shows.

    ReplyDelete
  78. It's not something polished PF, I heard doug chewin on the producer about the bumper music not being there. It is what it is, lol. Josh and J are theonly real reasons to listen, doug is a bammer you could meet in any feed store in alab

    ReplyDelete
  79. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I vote Mon as Hottie of the week!

    WDE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anonymous1:52 PM

Bin, where in PA is your fiance from...err...I mean from where in PA

    ReplyDelete
  82. state college, i'll be there getting married new years eve

    ReplyDelete
  83. eddie, you are wrong about the cliff thing. I would say, "What a wonderful view".

    ReplyDelete
  84. Bin, you're getting married there on New Years Eve and her guests won't all be in Pasadena? I don't know that I could marry into a family like that.

    ReplyDelete
  85. the HOTTIES are the BOMB!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. next year doesn't matter?

    ReplyDelete
  87. All the best, Bin

    ReplyDelete
  88. The next time Doug says anything meaningful about sports will be the first.

    ReplyDelete
  89. So who was the Hottie of the week?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anonymous2:02 PM

PF, not all fans travel as well as Auburn fans.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Alan,

Much like my "the next time Brad Lester rushes for 100 yards in a game, it'll be the 1st" comments when people were saying he was a great RB.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Is it me, or does the fact that the good news for Auburn is that we are keeping some of the recruits we already had sound kind of pathetic? That is like saying, breaking news, Chizik not hit by truck!!! Common, we need something more positive than that.

I hope that Garner is on his way. Searles would be cool because he is fairly young and partly responsible for Georgia kicking the crap out of us for a while. I see hires like that as dual benefits. We gottem and they don't.

    ReplyDelete
  93. By the way, someone needs to write Garner a check for $500k and tell him turn it down if he can. They said money wasn't limited, so lets see it.

    ReplyDelete
  94. PF, her father was the student admin there AT PSU for a long time so they are kinda "over" the whole rose bowl thing from what they say. Besides, everyone close to us at the wedding is going to mexico the day after the game for a week of fruity drinks and ice cream, oh and some deep sea fishing and snokeling. I'll have to check the internet stuff, maybe i can shoot some links to some stuff i'll be putting up for my parents.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Not tryin to toot psu's horn but they usually travel pretty alright, having the largest alumni assoc. in the nation doesn't hurt either.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Come on guys! Doug knows A LOT of football and I really enjoy their show. Yes, Doug's bammeritis flares up on occasion, but all in all they have my fave show.

I vote AUnMobile HOTTIE OF THE DECADE!

Gosh, there are too many hot hotties to narrow it down. That's a good problem to have.

TB - FYI I have my own glove and bat. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Dang, Steve's gettin' a little attiudinal. Slingin' the cheese at Recruitin' Rodney.

I, for one, am lovin' it.

Optimism is the expectation of accomplishing through hard work the goals set before you.

It ain't wishful thinkin' as some have been tagging SteveFC with lately.

Maybe, there's your HABOTN Hottie of the Week ... SteveFC the Optimist.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous2:11 PM

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials, BinOBA. :-) Being in Orange Beach, how did you meet someone from PA?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous2:11 PM

I wasn't bashing PSU fans. Since I'm from PA, they are second favorite team.

    ReplyDelete
  100. i second the Steve nomination

    ReplyDelete
  101. I am unfamiliar with this concept of "second favorite team."

    I have a favorite team -- Auburn.

Team that I hate above all others -- Those Guys.

And the rest I merely dismiss and/or hate to a lesser extent.

    ReplyDelete
  102. The other coach I would like to see us go after is Greg Davis at Texas since Texas stole a couple of coordinators from us. From what I have read, it isn't happening, but the right financial incentive might make him a possibility too.

    ReplyDelete
  103. AUnMobile definitely brought it more than any other hottie this week, and it took him only two posts to do it. Yep, looks like a hottie of the week to me.

    ReplyDelete
  104. What if you had more than one alma mater?

    ReplyDelete
  105. I lived there for 9 years, we've moved here because of work, of course,i'm a sous chef, she's a pastry chef, food biz here is better in that you don't have to be in philly or pittsburgh to make good money. You can be a place like orange beach and cherry pick your job if you know what you are doing and have the resume and work ethic to back it up. So, money and quality of life would be the short answer.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I think Joshua said it best ... choose this day whom ye shall serve ... as for me and my house ...

    ReplyDelete
  107. Sous chef and pastry chef?

Looking to adopt a 42 year old chick?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Yea, and besides, how many Philly Cheese Steaks can you make?

    ReplyDelete
  109. So when Jay Gizzle finally hosts HABOTN-palooza or HOTTIE-stock ... BinOBA is hereby nominated and elected by acclimation as the Executive Chef for said fiesta. Mrs. Bin will provide desserts.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Anonymous2:18 PM

well, then that's the difference between you and me, Jet. Just because I moved to AL and became an Auburn fan, I'm not going to dismiss PSU. I just don't have the opportunity to go to PSU football games like I do Auburn games. PSU also isn't on t.v. much down here - not that I'd be able to watch it anyway, since I attend all the Auburn games. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  111. LuvAU1968, isn't Penn State on the Big 10 network a lot?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Anonymous2:21 PM

I cast my vote for AUnMobile. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  113. Aunmobile brought a lot of thunder this week. If el toro doesn't get it hopefully he will.
    '

I think we should look at chuck long for oc or try to buy someone elses away from them.

I've been accepted into the penn state family and feel better off for it. State college, PA is A LOT like Auburn, AL. They got some great breweries there as well, check out Otto's if you are ever there, amazing brewmaster named charlie schnable i worked with for a few years has opened it up, good people.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Anonymous2:21 PM

Steve, I think so, but we have cable.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Waiver granted for Luv for multiple team adoration ... all other waiver requests should be submitted by Dec. 31, 2008.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Monica, sounds great. Lets play some B-Ball. Good way to forget or football issues.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anonymous2:23 PM

But, like I said, we go to all the Auburn football games, so I wouldn't be here to watch PSU play anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I like JoePa. For an old guy, he still has a lot of fire in him. Can we all agree to pull for Penn State over USC?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Anonymous2:23 PM

Thanks, for the waiver, Jet. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  120. LuvAU1968, I get the Big 10 network on Time Warner cable. I don't think Comcast had it when I had them.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Jet sure likes a good fiesta.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Anonymous2:25 PM

Yeah, JoPa is a great coach and he must be in GREAT shape for a man his age. My mom said he was up walking around without a cane a week after his hip surgery.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Anonymous2:26 PM

Steve, we have Charter. They don't offer the Big 10.

    ReplyDelete
  124. We can't just arbitrarily vote for everyone's favorite for Hottie of the Week...we have to find the best fit

    ReplyDelete
  125. Steve, there's only one real question of character in pennsylvania, slice or whiz on your cheesesteak?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Anonymous2:28 PM

    LOL, Seeker.

    ReplyDelete
  127. 71 degrees in the ham today.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Monica, we are acceptin applications for adoptees but we need the right fit, we'll need your resume and your bank statements, not that money is an issue, but money is an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'm thinking a batting cage is more like it. Otherwise that sounds a whole bunch like very strenuous exercise. I just like hitting balls. Although, I used to be a very good softball/baseball groupie.

Seeker is gettin' serious about this thang...

I just issued myself a waiver and I demoted Jet from Waiver Giver to Waiver Giver's Assistant. I just got it like that.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anonymous2:33 PM

BinOBA, is there really ever a question about what kind of cheese to use?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Bin - Nevermind. I'm out already.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Michael ...

    Fiesta for-evah.
    All night long (All night)

    ReplyDelete
  133. The only thing i miss more than cheesesteaks is the local dairies that would do the flavored milk and the homemade icecream, flippin awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I just want someone that the HABOTN family will be comfortable with

    ReplyDelete
  135. Anonymous2:35 PM

But, Monica, I think you could get accepted by your resume alone...quite impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  136. It would be my pleasure to serve under your leadership, Queen Monica.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Funniest line of the day so far!!

    MICHAEL

    Self-Shout-Out

    That makes me laugh

    ReplyDelete
  138. All hail Queen Monica a bat in one hand and a glove in another.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Michael should get consideration for Hottie of the Week for his slick I am going away, no I ain't trick. He had my snowed.

    ReplyDelete
  140. And TarHeelTiger gets my vote for Avatar of the week.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Bin - speaking of cheese...

Have you ever heard of these people?

    http://www.cowsoutside.com/

I saw them on Anthony Bordain, one of the men I love, and I ordered some of their cheese. They are in Jersey or right outside. Grass fed cattle, etc. OH MY DEAR LOWERED. You cannot imagine the flavor. Worth every penny.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Steve,
Even that picyure makes me laugh. Ha! I wonder who that really is?

    ReplyDelete
  143. Luvz me some cheez, thanks Mon.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Michael is all time funniest Hottie - without question.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Cheese for HABOTN Dairy Product of the Week!

Steve, I support your effort to have an official Hottie endorsement of JoePa over USC in Rose Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  146. you all crack me up! just precious...

    ReplyDelete
  147. You know (I know how much that has to irritate some on this board), perhaps we could sell off some "official" HABOTN designations to supplement Jay G's income.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Anonymous2:45 PM

I didn't think PSU over USC was even a question. Doesn't everone hate USC? Well, everyone but Steve. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  149. Aw, man, you gotta try the orange-cicle flavored milk. Aside from that i'll vote cheese.

    ReplyDelete
  150. You guys are on the right track. It is of utter importance that the Hottie of the Week is a HABOTN Man (or dame).

And Steve, I was just using some tricks from Attention Getting 101. It wasn't real HABOTN suicide, it was half-hearted attempt. You know, like just taking half the fatal dose of sleeping pills for some attention. We'll see if it paid off when the Hottie of the Week ballots are filled out.

    ReplyDelete
  151. So, I'm thinking that BinOBA should be bringing the Orange-cicle milk to HOTTIEStock

    ReplyDelete
  152. Jet, your choice of cheese for HABOTN Dairy Product of the Week is short-sighted and will not please the masses. Congratulations, you have alienated the entire HABOTN family. And we are a family. There is the Gold Mine Nation and Auburn Undercover Nation... we are the HABOTN FAMILY!

What's the matter? Eggnog was the obvious choice. You have something against Eggnog, Jet? Do ya?!!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Michael
    SteveFC
    AUnMobile
    Aubie

Will the three of you submit to an online debate. Moderators are:

    Monica
    Denny Crum
    Eddie4AU

Back in the HABOTN news studio, Harrison, BinOBA and I will insult each other and offer snarky commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Michael ...

If cheese is good enough for Coach Dye, it's good enough for me.

Plus Coach Dye drank all the egg nog anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  155. LOL at hottiestock

    ReplyDelete
  156. Excuse me, the "4" of you. please submit ... I added Aubie at the end because he had nominated himself.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I would be careful with what you say, Jet. Charles Barkley has always been a big eggnog fan.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I thought he was a Turner Gill fan.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Isn't a debate something two-sided in nature? How does one submit a debate? Should it be a conversation with myself?

Pro-Michael Michael: Michael should be Hottie of the Week due to his strong arms and appropriate use of punctuation?
Anti-Michael Michael - You sir are an idiot. Michael does not post nearly as much as the other candidates and is a total idiot when he does post
    Pro-Michael Michael: Duck season!
    Anti-Michael Michael: Rabbit season!

    ReplyDelete
  160. Shoot, I give up, Michael.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I say we make J-G, our fearless leader, the Hottie o the Week for guiding us through this tumultuous week without anyone jumping off a bridge.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Anonymous3:05 PM

Is Jay actually considered a Hottie since this is his blog? Aren't all of you HIS Hotties? (I don't consider myself a Hottie since I haven't been posting very long. That's why I haven't asked for a t-shirt yet.)

    ReplyDelete
  163. Kissing up won't win you hottie of the week, D-mill.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Well are you going to snarkily comment on my debate, Jet? And where are the moderators? Is anyone home?

    ReplyDelete
  165. anyone else listenin to jims call on finebum?

  166. I don't deem myself qualified at this time to deserve the title...

I'm still learning the ropes around here... i am but a mere neophyte.

I guess, my real vote would go to AUnMobile for his inspirational post putting things in persepctive the other day....

  175. Hi Hotties,

So great to read y'all's wonderful posts. They always make me happy. Almost as happy as free internet in Prague!

SteveFC gets my nomination for Hottie of the Week and not just because he nominated my avatar. Speaking of which, I think avatar of the week should be something creative, not a self-portrait. So mine will not run and will not serve or however that goes. WAR EAGLE HOTTIES!!!

    ReplyDelete
  176. If you're posting you're a hottie, right? Maybe if you're reading you're a hottie. I'm not sure. Jay is very inclusive on the hottiness issue. I think we'll have to wait for an adminstrative opinion.

    Let me just say this...
I freakin love the word "snarky".

  182. AUnMobile deserves Hottie Post of the Century Award. And Hottie Inspirational Post Award. Question is, of all the ROF Hotties, who deserves Best Supporting Hottie Award?

  183. Anonymous3:23 PM

I thought it was pretty inclusive, Monica. That's why I don't consider myself a Hottie.
