Auburn 75, Tuskegee 32

OK. More basketball action coming your way from Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.

  • FINAL: Auburn 75, Tuskegee 32.
    • Tuskegee shot 19.2% (15 of 64)
    • Tuskegee hit 1 of 16 from three-point range
    • Tuskegee hit 1 of 8 from the free-throw line
    • That's the lowest Auburn opponent point total since 1948

  • @ the 3:00 mark
    Auburn leads, 62-30.

  • Frankie Sullivan just scored on a shooting foul. What can I say?

  • Lucas Hargrove just scored on a shooting foul. That breaks a long streak.

  • SECOND TO @ 11:29
    Auburn leads, 40-25.

  • FIRST TO @ 15:47
Auburn leads, 36-19. Haven't been watching. I'm writing a story about Nick Fairley for tomorrow's editions.

  • HALFTIME
    Auburn leads, 30-11.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  43. I've been looking around and wondering that too. If I hear something I will post.

    ReplyDelete

BigCat - Name the current college head coach that is in the video?

    ReplyDelete

    No takers on the question?

What head coach is in the video that AUBigCat provided?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Deals work for me. I will give you a call.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey AU1 just saw your post. I dont know who is it? Zack Dumas should be coaching DBs somewhere

    ReplyDelete
  55. can't watch video here. no clue.

Tuskegee must be REEEAAALLLLY bad. ouch.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous8:03 PM

    Answer - Bo Pelini

He is the safety for Ohio St. that comes leaping in. You see his last name briefly.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jay the email I sent you I got the info from another blog. It discussed a certain yeller fellers phone call to a coach that created all this with CTT.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh wow I never noticed that!

    ReplyDelete
  59. some talk bumping around that says Shane Wasden might coach WRs and Special Teams.

    ReplyDelete
  60. TB I think I saw a "story" about that yella fella phone call and clause in CTT's contract. Very interesting

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonymous8:06 PM

TB that is the rumor that has been flying around on why xCTT walked away with the $$

No one could call anyone representing AU on an official or unofficial capacity.

A Cowboy makes a call to a Sexton client and all whoop breaks loose.

    ReplyDelete
  62. If that is remotely true then it explains alot.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anonymous8:08 PM

It would make sense on why also if JJ would have been caught off guard if he was trying to have xCTT back.

    ReplyDelete
  64. By the way I gotta give props to whoever started the Facebook group..If I remember correctly it was Kristina..sorry if I'm wrong..pretty cool Kristan..buy a shirt...join the HABOTN..and get a decoder ring...

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ausome....I feel special and included now... Thanks Kristina

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous8:10 PM

What exactly is the role of a BOT member?

    ReplyDelete
  67. No problem, D. Sorry it took so long. Welcome!

    ReplyDelete
  68. TB: Was it like 50 inches long?

That one got the tl;dr treatment.

    I couldn't read 50 inches about my daughter ...

    ReplyDelete
  69. Kenney is a February signee from what I've read. He won't be an early enroller.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous8:14 PM

To talk AU....not to blow smoke...be kind to others...question when confused...and never, ever, ever, call out a ROF member.

    ReplyDelete
  71. oh well it was an interesting read.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Big Cat - Who? Shane Wasden?

He's a former very good AU reciever who went on to be a very, very good highschool coach and is now the assistant head coach at Troy.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks wartiger. Starting the group was a no-brainer really...

Speaking of the facebook group, we have 3 requests with no user names so if you are waiting to be admitted, shoot me or Jay G. an e-mail and let us know who you are. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  74. mr. s. season's greetings, if that is not too politically incorrect. safe travels.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I was looking for you Jay, but didn't quite see you. First row of the Lunatics, come check us out one day pregame.

Did you hear the guy with the glorified kazoo cheering for Tuskegee?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Harris Gaston still on board per Matthews at Rivals.

    ReplyDelete
  77. jgt, is your anniversary date easily modified? just kidding--go for it...

    ReplyDelete
  78. headin' to the hizzle fo chizzle. catch you boys later.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I've seen gaston play several times good looking kid but I am suspect since he played in Alabama Private school.

    ReplyDelete
  80. That Tuskegee "section" was pretty rad.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think I am going to get a tattoo that says "Baby"...

That way I never have to change the name...

    ReplyDelete
  82. Scott from T - how is your doggie?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Shayne Wasden to AU??? Jay G. True?

    http://www.selmatimesjournal.com/news/2008/dec/16/wasden-linked-position-chiziks-staff-auburn/

    ReplyDelete
  84. Didn't Stacey Danley have a lawsuit against AU from when he worked in the athletic department?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Luv - The role of the BOT is to govern. The role of the staff is to manage. That's the short answer. Here's a longer answer:

    http://www.auburn.edu/administration/trustees/statement.html

    ReplyDelete
  86. A newspaper story with "rumored" in the lead? Weak.

    Walleye Jr. ... maybe.

We're a long way from confirming stuff like that. The decision has to be made first!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Gaston was a one man wrecking crew over at Bessemer Academy. He played both sides of the ball and caught several touchdowns. Gaston has a good frame to bulk up.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I just dont remember Wasden

    ReplyDelete
  89. depressed ... Danley threatened to sue.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anonymous8:36 PM

Thanks, Monica. I was beginning to feel ignored...so, I Googled Auburn University Board of Trustees

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yeah...I read it twice... then realized that it was beyond speculative...

Sorry, having watched Troy some in recent years, I know how well their WR's have played and just know that it would be a massive upgrade...

I guess I'm a little too anxious to see the staff in place.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous8:38 PM

    http://www.auburn.edu/administration/trustees/policymanual/athletics.html

I'm not sure I like #1. It leaves A LOT of room for interpretation...

    ReplyDelete
  93. So, was there a settlement to keep it out of court, Jay? Seem to remember some ugly comments from Danley during that time. Thanks for the reply.

    ReplyDelete
  94. just watch the 89 Florida game or the 89 Bama game for Wasden. Reggie Slack hit him in the EZ for the winning TD vs. UF with seconds remaining. classic. he also had a long pass play against the Tide. those are the 2 plays that stand out.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Luv - the policy manual is where the fun stuff is - it's intentionally vague - best practices dictate that BOT's govern and leave the managing to staff. However, with this BOT (as with lots of boards) the roles and boundaries are blurred. It makes for an unhealthy organization. Sound familiar?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Anonymous8:43 PM

don't know what happened to my link. It didn't post correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wasn't Shane also the return guy that liked to run ALLLLLLLLL the way across the field trying to break free only to get about a 3 yard return? Although I must say he would make it exciting, if in fact that's who I'm thinking about. I do remember he had great hands. However the best I ever saw was Lawyer Tillman

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous8:45 PM

    thanks, Monica! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous8:48 PM

Acknowledges its constitutional and statutory obligation to “manage and control” the University

They sure do a good job at this!

    ReplyDelete
  100. huh - and it's a very diverse BOT...
    *cough*

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thomas Bailey was the best return guy that I remember. He would stand in one spot and make like 3 guys miss. Decent hands for a WR

    ReplyDelete
  102. When I grow up, I wanna be on the BOT ... then I will implement Operation Hate and unleash the plan per my manifesto.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous8:51 PM

From the picture, it looks like mostly good ol' boys with a couple token women and an African American thrown in.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Anonymous8:53 PM

In the same sentence: delegates to the President of the University the full conduct and control of Auburn’s athletics program, holds the President responsible for it, and includes this responsibility among those assessed during presidential performance reviews.

So, why didn't Gogue hire the HC? Or, did he "delgate" that to JJ?

    ReplyDelete
  106. Luv - yes

Also, look at the list of bot members since 1920. The years of service are interesting. Some stay a year, some think it's Hotel California. Another failing of the by-laws. A health BOT either has strictly enforced term limits or it has a board that self governs and sheds deadwood when needed.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Put a SACS in it, Monica!

    Eltoro's comin'!

    ReplyDelete
  108. The BOT? A lot of people would be much better off and followed my good advice and buried your head in the sand. If you bury your head, they can't see you.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Don't remember Shane Wasden? Then you owe it to yourself to check this out:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxXaWGT4lAE&feature

Wish I had a time machine - I'd go back to that night right now. Pat Dye, Pat Sullivan, Slack to Wasden, and one of the happiest nights I can remember in all my years.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Shayne Wasden?! Don't remember him?

How can you not remember his TD against Florida in 199? Or being run down from behind by Keith "Dope Fiend" McCants against the Infidels in '89?

Most recently seen in the critically acclaimed TLC series "Little Coach, Big World."

    He'd be wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anonymous9:04 PM

Yeah, Monica, it states in the Constitutional Statement that a member may serve no more than two seven-year terms.

Hotel California - I love that!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Thank you coosa - I remember watching that now. Man getting old is rough, don't remember what I remember anymore

    ReplyDelete
  113. My opinion means nothing. I like the tattoo idea, but I hate the location. Men shouldn't have tattos on wrists and ankles unless there are full sleaves that just happen to run over those points. Tattoos are really forever. I wish they weren't.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Anonymous9:11 PM

So, Monica, am I correct in assuming that everyone ignores the term limit with Lowder because he holds the purse strings?

    ReplyDelete
  115. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Thanks for the vid coosa. That was my freshman year so I should remember that. Or maybe that's why I dont remember that.

    ReplyDelete
  117. OK, I know a little about this ... the current BOT was grandfathered in when the constitutional amendment was passed ... there is an age limit that will get Lowder at the end of his term ... now when the term expires they can serve for an additional year, but then the seat becomes vacant. Previously, the holder of the seat stayed in office until a successor was confirmed.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Jet I just joined the Facebook group, and it appears I know you.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Shayne Wasden would be a good hire.

It is awfully quiet on the Rodney Gardner and Stacey Searles front.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yes, TommyD. We'll use our code names here, though.

Eddie ... I'm getting good vibes still on STacy ... mixed bag on Rodney, which concerns me.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Any confirmation on James Willis?

    ReplyDelete
  122. I'm hearing more and more than Joe Whitt, Jr., is coming, which likely bumps Willis.

While I like James, I don't see it as a dropoff at all.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Absolutely Jet, incredibly small world.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Luv - As long as the university is accepting the huge money a person doesn't have to hold a bot position to have influence.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anonymous9:20 PM

I just watched the video that coosa provided. I've only been in AL 10 years, but I love listening to recordings of Jim Fyffe calling plays. He sounds like he absolutely LOVED Auburn football.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Well, surely Rodney will come home in the end...but maybe not.

Dye sure did seem to know alot about the assistant coaches that Chizik was looking at....I wonder how???? HMMM???

    ReplyDelete
  127. Glad you enjoyed it, mrtommyd. That was a typical Pat Dye game - he played to win it 10-7 and it worked out. Well, actually he played to win it 9-7, but we missed the FG on the next to last drive and had to score a TD at the end.

And FL scored a TD early and played to try to win with 7 pts, and it almost worked.

    Those were the days.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Fyffe was the greatest ... of course, for kids of my age in MOntogmery... he used to announce YMCA pee wee football games on WCOV-TV ... sadly, he called the game when I "obomanu-ed" a sure TD in the end zone.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Anonymous9:22 PM

Monica, very true, but I still don't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Yeah - those were the days, holding your breath for 4 quarters hoping it all worked out. Which is better than holding your breath for 4 quarters waiting for the train wreck to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Given where we are at the moment, I don't see Dye as an advisor as a horrible thing ... I'm sure Chizzle is ultimately picking his staff ... but having a sounding board is not a bad idea. OF course, if Callaway becomes OC, then I will change my tune.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I will say this about Chizik. I really like the way he is recruiting right now. He is hitting the road big time. Tubs really lacked in that area.

    ReplyDelete
  133. That's a wrap from the Plains.

    Talk with you all tomorrow.

    See ya, HOTTIES.

(ps: Buy a t-shirt if you haven't already.)

    ReplyDelete
  134. Eddie ... if I've preached energy once, I've preached it a thousand times.

One thing ... the expectation bar for Chizzle is so low with recruits, I guess they're expecting Forrest Gump or Barney Fife to walk in the room. I would imagine he's knocking several of them flat.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Aubigcat - I don't remember much about some of the games from my freshman year either, so I understand. ;)

My freshman year was 1972, the year of the Amazins. And yes, I'm one of 600,000 who claim to have been at the 17-16 win over bammer, but I still have the ticket stub to prove it. Went with several friends - no date- and after it was 16-0 in the 4th Q we all decided we might as well just get drunk. No, I had no hope at all. Being drunk wasn't such a bad thing after we won it. I remember telling everybody it was the happiest day of my life; about all I remember though.

LuvAu1968 - I think that call in the 10-7 FL game was Jim Fyffe's finest moment.

    Sure do miss him.

But then I miss Buddy Rutledge too. Bet I'm the only person here who remembers his calls.

    ReplyDelete
  136. anyone just hear Barkley on HBO?
    SHUT YOUR MOUTH.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Anonymous9:31 PM

coosa, like I said, I've only been here 10 years, but I get all vaklempt EVERY time I hear him.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Give it time and Barkley will be quiet. It will blow over. It always does.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Good Night All,
I've read allcomments tonight. No need to participate, everything needed to be said was said.

    LATE

    ReplyDelete
  140. he called it a bunch of bull**** on live TV

    ReplyDelete
  141. Night ... mdaniel.

too many fyffe calls to pick a fave ... but i love the 1993 alabama calls, the 94 florida call, the '87 ga. tech call (tillman, tillman, tillman)

    ReplyDelete
  142. Barkley needs to shut more than his mouth. I think he is beginning to speak from somewhere other than his mouth. :)

    ReplyDelete
  143. Barkley needs to worry more about his so called golf swing. That is embarrasing for someone once described as an "athlete".

    ReplyDelete
  144. Don't care Jhag ...

    Barkley = lardbutt non grata

I was tired of his act years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I seldom wear tee shirts, but if the HABOTN needs to move some leftovers, I'll take one to help the cause.

How much and where do I send the money for an XL?

    ReplyDelete
  146. That's awfully generous of you, Coosa.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Hey guys,

What has been up? I've been stuck in Mobile/Pensacola again. So happy that it is my last time going down there for the year! In other news I did stay at a holiday express last night, so if Tuskegee needs another basketball coach I would be able to fill in.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Night all. Crazy day today at work and little HABOTN time...and that is never a good thing :(.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Sleep well, Eduardo.

And know that Eltoro is guarding you and your family.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Goodnight Eddie.

    ReplyDelete
  151. It may be exnay to talk about but what the heck happened on the blog yesterday to cause a "LOCK DOWN"

    ReplyDelete
  152. Cobra Commander attempted to assassinate Mr. Sensible.

    ReplyDelete
  153. If you work at an insane asylum, is it politically correct to come home and say "I had a crazy day?"

    ReplyDelete
  154. There are two institutions in Tuscaloosa and you'd have to be crazy to go to either.

    Is that politically incorrect?

    ReplyDelete
  155. JD where do you visit in Mobile? work i suppose? what are your favorite things about my lovely city on the bay..lol...:)

    ReplyDelete
  156. I'm out too. Goodnight all.

    Cruddup - show thyself.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Gotta hit the hay - Goodnight all. Sweet dreams...

    ReplyDelete
  158. Ah yeah I do sales in the mobile area that cause me to travel down there at least 2 days a week so I normally get a hotel room in daphne. I like it down there but today was soo foggy! I love the food down there. Seafood is one of my absolute favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Later, MOnica ... take a hit of Nyquil for me.

Mrs. Jet and I just got back from a whirlwind of MOB/Point Clear/Fairhope ... great seafood.

    ReplyDelete
  162. PDWT...has the ole coach been hitting you lately?

    ReplyDelete
  163. Jet you are right on about that. I ate dinner with some customers last night at Felix's. I know we had one in Montgomery a few years ago but honesly, DANG...why did we ever let it go? It was amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Felix in MGM was in bad location ... old Darryl's ... loser location ... too many different things had been there. should have waited and put it at EastChase.

Of course, I am a huge fan of Jubilee in Old Cloverdale.

  165. to all,

Yes Dye has been hitting the turkey. He is like all old people he is lonely and likes to talk, old people like to think their opinion matters.

Mobile = mardi gras, lots of traffic, high crime, lots to do, great restaurants. too many bamers

Daphne = the bay town, the tru bay city, eastern shore, good seafood, over priced houses

  168. Felix's is awesome, good view, in the summer they have bands underneath in the swamp room, good place to watch the alligators down below. Long wait there. The same people who own Ruth's Chris steakhouse in Mobile own Felix's and ahhhh they own like half of mobile. So I assume they built/bought a place where they could eat. Anything on the causeway is good and unique. Dont get caught in bad rain down there or your car wil get stuck.

  169. Its called the Grand hotel in Point Clear owned by Marriot run by RSA(Bonner). 5 star, food, drinks, 200 yrsold on the water, golf, tennis, massage, etc...the whole deal. During the sr. bowl you will see all kinds of folks over there.

  170. Senior Bowl in Mobile is the best of you are a football fan. You can meet and mingle with everyone and anyone in college or pro football.

They all are accesible. They go to all the functions, you see them in bars and restaurants. The coaches tell you this is their vacation. By the game they have already scouted everything they can about the kids. So the coaches come to game like a vacation. The team comp them and they see their buddies, party, eat out etc,. I have many stories about the coaches, they live it up and run wild.

  171. The Players they are all business because they know a good or bad week could cost them millions.

  175. Fools, don't bash Jacobs!!! Why? Well, I submit the following from one of Jay G's articles.

"Jacobs said results weren't important to him."

Now, study that sentence very closely. See if you draw the same conclusion I do. I want to work for that guy.

So, Mr. Jacobs, I would just like to take this opportunity to kiss your butt. I can see where your non-results oriented thinking is a revolutionary concept and I am on board.

I will settle for a $100K lifetime contract with a $6 Million buyout. Let me know when I should show up for work.

  176. And in other shocking developments, Carlos Rogers reveals his racist beliefs by saying that Chizik was the best choice for the job. I don't know if Carlos Rogers is qualified to make this determination because, as we all know, the best judge of college football head coaching talent is NBA has beens that are attempting to keep their names in the limelight.

Oh man, Jay, I should be a reporter, just like you. I am getting rather good at this stuff.

  177. Speaking of Causeway seafood joints, has anyone tried Oysterella's lately? My wife and I had a bad experience there not long after they opened, but I'm curious to know if they've improved at all. Out of that stretch, I'm really partial to Felix's or Ed's. The Oyster House is usually too crowded, and Bluegill has turned into little more than a Sunday afternoon destination.

Heard the rumor about Wasden late this afternoon. A competent WR coach would be a breath of fresh air on the Plains (right, Hoopie?). Great news about Freeman. I hope CGC can pull some more turnarounds like that in the future.

Fyffe's greatest call had to be Sanders in the Endzone at the Swamp in '94. Maybe it was because I had to work on Saturdays that year, so I only got to hear that year's games on the radio like in '93, but that one was just incredible

  178. This may have already played out, but for those lending credence to the "Rane called Houston Nutt" story that was making the rounds yesterday, here's a perfectly good rebuttal, written by a Michigan fan of all things.

  179. 251 ...

we went into a packed original oyster house on thursday ... actually, they all looked packed, except oysterella. OOH, although packed, was served quickly (almost 2 fast), and was a good meal.

  182. Eltoro Freeman is pretty fired up about coming to Auburn. Jet, didn't you give him a nickname yesterday? Here is Freeman's quote:

I heard Coach Chizik has coached three Thorpe Award winners, well damn, he better get ready to coach a Dick Butkus Award winner. It's on now!" Freeman said. "We're coming back. Me and the boys are coming! I'm ready! WAR DAMN EAGLE! I just can't wait to be a part of the Auburn Family."

Just Win, on rivals.com it shows that he was recruited by Al Borges and committed in '06. What happened?

  190. Evan Woodberry had an article stating Callaway had been contacted by Auburn about the OC job but was going to stay at UAB. Besides being thankful he turned AU down, I cannot believe Chizik chose him on his own. Is he having final say-so on coaches or is all of this pre-arranged?

    ReplyDelete
  191. Depressed, I am very concerned about the staff. I know a lot of people want former players or coaches back at AU and while I think that is a good idea for some, I sincerely hope that this staff is not 100% former players or coaches. If it is I guarantee you Chizik agreed to let someone pick his staff. No way is Calloway the best OC that AU can get - NO WAY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  192. Just Win, I agree that Searels, Garner, etc. are proven coaches and recruiters and would love to see them return. We are in DESPERATE need for a proven, innovative OC, and Neal Callaway is the guy? No way with the avaliable OC's out there would Chizik choose this guy. I am very concerned.

  196. Just for wondering sake - who are the available OC's? I've heard Nix's name mentioned, and Callaway (although I'm glad to see he wants to remain a HC).
