Merry Christmas Ye Hottie

Big Christmas ups to all HOTTIES for making this the aptly named haven for intelligent and rational Auburn discussion. I'm mighty thankful for the HOTTIES, who make my life better every single day.

Keep it real like I know you do.

Here's a little gift: Run-DMC's holiday hit from 1987.

And for you afficianados of fine Christmas music, check out the original holiday fave from which Run-DMC took that riff: the incomparable Clarence "Patches" Carter's 1969 classic, "Backdoor Santa". . .

  9. Ho ho ho!!!!! Ho!

Nothing like staying up until 1:30 getting ready for Christmas and having the kids wake you up at 6:30 to open presents. I had a good mind to blow the whole Santa Clause ruse right there.

  10. merry christmas hotties. peace on earth ... good will toward men

  11. merry christmas folks. tiger fan 44, i've learned that potty training for puppies can be easy. after they've eaten, give them 5 minutes or so then take them outside. their digestive tracts work fast. when they do the deed, give tons of praise. even a treat. they will learn. keep them active during the day and they will sleep longer at night--but, their like babies, so they might actually be wanting food at night...good luck. jgt, whatever happened to the meerkatau poster. that was some funny stuff--then he took it all down....

  12. Thats a classic Jay! Merry Christmas Hot Ones!! Love somebody extra hard today and see if you can maintain it throughout 2009. War Eagle

  13. merry christmas to JGT and to hotties all over the world.

    michael,
my father-in-law spilled the beans earlier and said he used to sip jack and coke while he stayed up late putting together bicycles and such for the kids when they were younger. he said it was his incentive to get the kids big expensive presents he had to assemble each year. to each his own. ha!

  24. Hi Hotties! We've had a wonderful Christmas and I hope each and every one of you has also. I'm so thankful that, after 48 hours sans 'net, getting back to the HABOTN this evening is the best Christmas present ever! Ok, maybe not, but darn close.

I hope everyone is having a great one and spending it with the ones they love.

    Peace hotties.

  26. Kinda bummed, no jeff bower in my stocking with an AU coaches shirt on. Sniff, sniff.

    ReplyDelete
  27. BinOBA, glad to hear I was not the only the one who struck out. I think I pushed Santa over his limit by asking for Malzahn, Searels and R Garner. I got an electric blower instead.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Merry Christmas Hotties!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for advice Scott, it is getting better. I am learning a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  30. WTC

Reggie Hunt-Juco freshman 1 more year
Frddie Smooth-Juco freshman 1 more year
    Branden Smith-DITO
    Jamarcus Savage-On roster
Marcus Jemison-On roster injured before season
Christian Thompson-on roster and played limited role this season
DaShaun Barnes-I think on roster injured

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK, Christmas is over. Now I'm ready for some assistants to be hired!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am with you monica. Chuck Long come on down.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Antonio Coleman set to announce the 3rd...whats it gonna be>?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gone... 4th round if he is lucky.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I told Santa to get his fat butt home to the shop and build us a coaching staff.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 44 ... my son said it best.

"Antonio, meet Stanley McClover. Stanley, meet Antonio Coleman. You two have a lot in common."

    ReplyDelete
  37. I know several posters here feel otherwise, but I still say losing Coleman AND Marks leaves huge holes on the d-line for next year. I don't think it is that easy to just plug in two play-making defensive lineman. From things Jay said about AC, I think he was disgusted with the state of the program and evidently saw little hope for improvment for next season. Will this influence T Coleman and his decision also?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks guys for the update. There were some guys that were recruited but I never saw them play nor heard them from them the entire year. So the ones in JUCO have another year in JUCO before coming on campus? Not sure how it all works.

To me I would rather have no more than 2 go the JUCO route and the others need to qualify. I am also ready to go after the best athletes at their position.

What about the Robinson kid from IN? Any chance on him coming abck to AU? Also the DB that went to MS St.?

    ReplyDelete
  39. War Eagle and Merry Christmas Everyone!! Back from the CCCCCOOOOLLLDDD New York City! Now I remember why I live in the south! Also flying is the pits...lost luggage and 4 hour delays are for the birds!

    ReplyDelete
  40. wtc- last I heard on Robinson he had eliminated AU and was down to Bama and UGA. Not sure on the DB.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I beleive the DB was David Conner.

Do you see anyone out there that GC may get (better than 50/50 chance) that would help AU?

    ReplyDelete
  42. wtc- I am not a big help on that question, Monica seems to have good recruiting info. My personal observation is GC has done a nice job holding onto the re-signs(Eltoro, Fairley and McCalleb), but it has been a mixed bag otherwise. Some seem to think it is a long-shot, but I hope AU throws some serious cash at Rodney Garner and makes him an offer he can't refuse to return. That is the one guy I can think of who would make a HUGE difference in AU recruiting. Wish I had more info.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks for the info. monica does have the goods on the recruiting. I will check in later.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good morning Hotties! Rise and shine.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous7:11 AM

Who is the one recruit you think Auburn needs to have sign on the dotted line on February 4, 2009? Who is "the guy" in this recruiting class?

Your answers may appear on an upcoming segment of The Gridiron Breakdown.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jermaine Johnson (5* 6'6" 300+ OL)would be that guy but it looks like he will be a Cane.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Petey Smith would be another and someone that GC has a solid chance to sign. 50/50 us and the bama

    ReplyDelete
  48. Happy Holidays HABOTN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Seems to me a big time WR or OL would be 'the guy' to get.

I do not follwo recruiting enough to know the names, but either of those positions are a huge need and I would probably take the OL over the WR since we are going back to a traditional offense.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would say Clint Mosley (Leroy Alabama ) QB. 6-4 195. Lead Leroy to 3 state championships. Recently awarded Alabama's Mr. Football award. It is understood the Leroy is a 2A school and does not have the flash, or publicity like the Cotton kid, but he has proven on the field he can win. He made a 24 on his ACT so he smart also.

Moseley threw for 3,749 yards this season on 209-of-315 passing with 35 touchdowns and five interceptions - including a 272-yard performance against Sulligent in a 41-8 Class 2A title game win.

He also ran for 693 yards and 15 touchdowns. For his career, he has thrown for more than 8,100 yards and 79 touchdowns. He also ended his football career on a 25-game winning streak.

We are looking for a big signee on offense that would be my pick at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yea that's why I didnt go with a WR pick. If we can hold on to Kenney we will be ok at that position a least for next season. From all accounts we are going back to a more traditional AU offense. OL are going to be a huge need. LBs are a need since there were 3 SRs and Blackmon is questionable for next season.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think Mosley is a good pick-up if we get him but it could be 2+ years before he gets a chance to make an impact.

    ReplyDelete
  53. We're not the only ones anxious to hear who the Assistants will be. Coleman wants to know who will be coaching him before he decides if he stays or jumps in the draft.

    From Jeff at Rivals:

"He really does want to come back. He loves playing there at Auburn," said Jackson. "He really does want to come back, but he wants to know who's going to be coaching him. With all the defensive coordinators he's had, he's only had one position coach (Terry Price).

"They've told him what they plan to do with the staff, but there's still that unknown. He hopes they have someone in place before he makes his decision."

    ReplyDelete
  54. Good Morning HOTTIES,
I agree Mon... i talk to his coach all the time and he said the same thing... he is just wanting to see if it's someone he likes and wants as a position coach....

The kid is gonna make some money, i just hopes he waits a year to make his stock go through the roof.

  55. Morning and Happy Christmas Hotties!!

How'd the turkey work out AU?

I'm getting restless but trying to stay patient with the staff announcements. All in due time I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Morning Mobile - Hope you had a good Christmas.

I didn't realize that Coleman got his Criminology degree last Friday. When they already have their degree do they keep taking a minimum number of classes or how does that work?

  69. Turbo Prop's loving his new HD. Now, the HALO parties will be in his room.

Stewardess is all over laptop, which I didn't realize had a web cam.

As a father, should I be concerned that my 15 year old daughter has a web cam?

Don't answer that. I think I already know.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Alright then Jet, Let's do this!

    ReplyDelete
  71. she's a big penn st mark so i'm pretty sure she won't get too miffed.

  72. By the way, what has Jeff Bower been doing the past year? Sitting and waiting?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I am a member of a secret Jihad ... not really secret ... and we compared notes yesterday.

    1. we believe Searels and Joe Whitt Jr., are lead pipe cinches.
    2. Herring seems to be getting a lot of love, but we're not sure about that.
    3. We're still a few days away from any revelations.

  75. Bin ... nice.

The Jet family did Punta Cana two summers ago ... good value, good times.

    ReplyDelete
  76. My sources told me the jeff bower lead was strong, possible we are waiting for nfl regular season to finish and the entire coaching staff will be named all at once, all the same day, all at same press conference. My sources tell me we'll be sitting prettier than many think.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Bower makes sense in that provides a "consigliere" type on the staff -- an ex head coach, who isn't looking to be the head coach.

Plus, I love the word "consligiere."

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jet,
totally agree with you on your thoughts except i think Rocker is in the mix also as d-line coach..... still don't have a handle on OC yet... but I'm gonna do some more smoke signals and peace pipe and see what gives!!!!

P.S. I have a 14 year old daughter, so I understand and just recently I bought a hand gun, shot gun and just in case I need to go stealth.... you'll like this i got a 7' long blow dart gun...he want even hear me coming or know what hits him.....

    ReplyDelete
  79. Days away from revelations ... absolutely.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Jay G!
Hey man how was Christmas?....you know the HOTTIES can't stay away from a discussion to long!

  82. Not to start any anti-Catholic accusations ... but aren't there too many bowls when Notre Dame can beat a team by 28 and Jimmy Clausen look like Peyton Manning?

Also, Charlie Weis, I didn't realize until that game, is the father of the kid on Two and a Half Men.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Web cam + 14 year old = Me happy YET AGAIN I'm not a parent.

    ReplyDelete
  84. No fair Jay, we want to know now!! Really I am trying to be patient.

    ReplyDelete
  85. AUBigCat, I don't know how to link, but the Atlanta Journal had an update on Kenney and he pretty much said he was waiting to see what Stafford was doing to do regarding the NFL. If he comes back(which I doubt) Kenney will be a Dawg. If not I don't know what our chances our. I have to think after watching our QB play last year, AU is a tough sell for a JUCO WR looking to make a splash. Maybe Chizik can convince him otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Jay G ...

Admit it, you were kinda looking forward to covering the Blue-Gray Game yesterday ... you could have hung out with Rod Smith, Boz, Chris Evans, Tez.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Monica,
That was just soooooo wrong to tell Jet!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Mobile ... AU lives to punt. Monica lives to make us miserable.

  89. Sorry, ten years as a child advocate and four years as a therapist treating juvenile and adult sex offenders.

    Just saying...

Besides, I didn't tell Jet anything he didn't already know.
