This one is for the players

    Always The Last To Know

    Good vids, Jay.

    ReplyDelete
  2. I watched this thing again in its entirety. I do not see much that I can call BS on in regards to Jay's posture, his replies, and his general sense of ease while addressing the media.

"Tommy's been thinking about this a long time."

    That's fact.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Good to know that much like Lebowski's doctor, Jay Jacobs is very thorough.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Thanks for the vid, Jay.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think everything was pretty straight forward and no subterfuge.

    ReplyDelete
  6. He seemed to shuffle a little bit on the buyout question.

    Hmmm....

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thanks for the video Jay

    ReplyDelete
  8. I didn't detect a shuffle. I dont think JJ is that good of an actor.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I feel the need, the need for speed,,,,,really the need for a campfire.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm buying everyone a round of anti-conspiracy juice.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I will counteract your anti-conspiracy juice with a round of I-Know-An-Insider-Who-Knows juice for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm open to a campfire later tonight.

If you're a regular poster and you're not in the Facebook group, you're wasting opportunities.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Clearly you're going to force me to administer a 24 hour, intravenous drip of nothing good can be true, everything bad must be true cocktail.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Jay - Finally you have found Facebook's value relative to the HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The i know an insider who knows the real scoop is the best. I think the people who repeat that think they know or think they are trying to get the record straight. But the fact is, unless they were in the room, they are getting fed information that puts the person doing the feeding in the best light.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes. I can relay stuff to The Inner Circle.

    Question...

Did Chris Todd play for Leach at TT???

That'd be pretty crazy if he made it back to AU to coach him again.

    ReplyDelete
  18. effin a. You bunch of facebookers in your ivory tower. Well screw you guys, me and Jaybar are going out for a drink where more scoop will be shared than you can fit in a Volkswagen beetle.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Michael why do you not get a facebook account. We can send secret messages and stuff

    ReplyDelete
  20. HABOTN + Facebook + HABOTN t-shirt = greatest thing on the planet

(well, you know what i mean, it's ausome!)

great vid. is it just me or does Jacobs look 10 years older overnite? maybe it's just the angle.

    ReplyDelete
  21. yeah michael, doesn't Jan Terri have a facebook account? what gives with you?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I didn't think we needed facebook for secret messages, Crum. What about all the World War II secret phrases we share around here?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous5:31 PM

my parole officer wont let me on facebook or myspace..

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have facebook, but I am friends with supervisors at work on facebook, and I fear one thing leading to another and the discovery that some days I may spend a little more time here on the HABOTN than is approved. How secret it all of it?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous5:32 PM

hi hotties!!!! ... hope everyone is well ... rumor has it that some of you had an issue with me earlier today ... true?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I want to continue to be part of the facebook ivory tower, but I also desire and value Jaybar's scoop. Hmmmm. Delima there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. somehow CTT leaving reminds me of the soliliqy by Tommie Lee Jones at the end of No Country For Old Men.

    ReplyDelete
  28. What must one do to become a member of this Facebook society?

    ReplyDelete
  29. DougA,

You need to come on my show sometime.

    http://www.joebanddenny.com/

Give my producer Dave Jennings an email.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Frankenbummer is right. Jaybar doesn't take very kindly to facebookers.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "If you're a regular poster and you're not in the Facebook group, you're wasting opportunities."

Jay... how can I find the facebook group? how do I get in on this campfire?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Doug - It's all in the last thread in black and white. No need to rely on rumor.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anonymous5:37 PM

have him email me at damos@faulkner.edu ...

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't know what's going on elsewhere, but me and Janis Joplin are rockin out in the middle of the everglades trying to forget about Jay Jacobs and the turmoil at Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just win - Just go to facebook.com and set yourself up an account.

Michael - Set up an account just for HABOTN! Must I always be the one to instruct y'all in the art of sneakatude???

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous5:39 PM

please share it with me in cliff notes form ... getting ready for a basketball game, and was just told by a few folks that I took a beating ... just was curious about it ...

    ReplyDelete
  37. I joined Facebook reluctantly ... but it's been pretty fun.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well I'm off to a family birthday party. If y'all Campfire before I get back have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  39. What's funny is I already have a fake account I made for an officemate I made up a few years ago. His name is Francis McMoron. He actually ran for president this last year and is somewhat obsessed with whales. Look him up!

    ReplyDelete
  40. It was all fake steve jobs, doug. That guy said something about how he hates charity and this is america, if you want something you have to work for it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. dang. I've never heard of a reporter giving a hoot or show interest in other's opinions. Amos, I don't know what you said or was said about you, but I solute your search for scoop on yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  42. whales? really? i gotz to see this.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ok, I set up an account, now will someone please let me in?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Doug,

I can't listen to your show because mine begins at roughly the same time. Next time you are in Louisville, come look me and Joe B up. We now have 21 affilites and are more popular than Sonny and Wimp ever where.

Doug, question for you. Who is going to be the next head coach at Faulkner?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ok -- I requested membership with a new facebook account ---

    "Inverness Chris"

so, I get the secret handshake or what?

    ReplyDelete
  46. You need to get Kristina. She is the zookeeper.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Good videos Jay G.

I broke down and did the Facebook thing today. Made me feel old for some reason?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anyone ever seen that show on cable "Whale Wars?" Its about a group of crazy animal rights activists whose only concern in life is to attck whaling ships in the Pacific Ocean. Pretty crazy stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have a job interview tomorrow -- Auto biz ain't what it used to be -- anyone have any suggestions?

    What to wear.

    Say?

    Look?

Either go Spud from Trainspotting or Peter from Office Space.

    ReplyDelete
  50. of course you could go dressed as Col Sanders.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Looks like we have a little football to watch tonight between Louisville and Rutgers. I guess I will watch it until the Office comes on.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What time is the campfire?

    ReplyDelete
  53. showing up naked to an interview always leaves a strong impression, chris.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Trainspotting and a video camera

    ReplyDelete
  55. definitely Trainspotting. If the questions get too personal, you don't have to answer them. I learned that today.

I think its a series on the history channel. Don't quote me in that, though.

    ReplyDelete
  56. or wear what will ferrell had on in that patriotic skit on snl

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous5:56 PM

Juco Lineman Jermaine Johnson out i hear...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh and THANKS to those who requested to be in the facebook group and actually sent me a message or e-mail with your HABOTN user name.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Kristina, what gives? u want another HABOTN tee or what? Eddie? McFly? j/k.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jay, any chance of an early % chance of the most mentioned names of potential HC? Or is it still too early for that? It was really interesting watching how the % changed on CTT being fired during the season. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  61. If you are really into percentages, we have 78% humidity where I am at right now.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah Scottie, my husband just got onto me for not calling you today. Curse Tommy Tuberville and his resignation...getting in the way of my HABOTN T.

    Will call tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I asked this earlier but no one answered so I'll ask again. Does anyone think JJ saying that money will be no object going to hurt Auburn in this search?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Probably, because coaches hate money.

    ReplyDelete
  65. JustWin, I think it depends on who it is. Obviously different people will be worth different amounts. I think they meant it from the standpoint of buying someone else out of a contract rather than a base salary number.

    ReplyDelete
  66. BTW, that was comment number 69

    ReplyDelete
  67. thanks Kristina. i was just teasing. it has been a pretty tumultuous 48 hours.

i'm going to compile a 'naughty' list tomorrow of those HOTTIES who requested a shirt but have never paid. please let me know if you have sent your payment in the past few days. christmas is just 21 days away. don't tempt fate. you know what i'm sayin'?

    ReplyDelete
  68. congrats Denny...69. you crazy old hall-of-famer you!

i heard on the radio on the way home that Lane Kiffin is getting around $2 mil from UT FWIW.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The reason I ask is because I think if we may have the man we want but because money is no object he may try to hold us hostage for more ca$h.

    ReplyDelete
  70. First, I would like to complement Jay Jacobs. He had one of the best I don't know what the heck was going on faces I have seen in recent memory. He would make Mike Shula proud.

I also feel a bit different about his after seeing it on video. I tend to believe most of what Jacobs said, which is surprising to me. I do think the the $5.1 Million had a lot more to do with getting a new coach to Auburn than it did as appreciation to Tuberville. I don't think they wanted to fire him.

I know many people seem to have issues with Jacobs, but from what I have seen, he has done a pretty good job, other than how this firing/resignation was handled. I do think they should have had some discussion during the previous off week and made sure the coaches were in house for this.

I must say, this is one of the weirdest firings/resignings that I have seen.

    ReplyDelete
  71. hey Kristina, thanks for adding me to the facebook group. I dont post much but read all of the time (during class). I know its a stretch (and kind of getting back to the "search") but Ive been big on Butch Davis. Does anyone think we have a chance there?

    ReplyDelete
  72. To get Davis, I think we would have to put him in the highest paid coach category. It is possible. I just don't see it as likely.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Jay, any idea on the time of the campfire?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous6:28 PM

Why not Charlie Strong? It would be a great PR move. It would be good for recruiting. We would know that we'd have a good defense every year. We could spend the 3 or 4 million on the entire staff instead of 1 head coach. Pay Strong 1.5 million and get good OC and DC's for $600k each.

It seems like a no-brainer to me.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous6:29 PM

    Chris,

Here is a great interviewing tip sheet. (It's a pdf download.)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Does anyone think Auburn will try to have a coach in place by the weekend? If we could get the right guy, it would be awesome to introduce him this weekend while all the national media is focused on the SEC. Just my thoughts...

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hey Scottie, I requested but I'm broke until next Friday...I guess I am on the naughty list.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think it will be a couple weeks or so before we have a new coach

    ReplyDelete
  79. One of the more interesting candidates mentioned by Marshall is Steve Spurrier. At one point I thought the guy was too arogant, but how he straightened out the South Carolina program impressed me.

Somehow I don't see it happening, but it would be very intriguing. If I had to guess, if Spurrier was looking to make a move he would have been a serious contender at Tennessee.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hey all, crazy day for me. So what is the latest. I'm here for awhile and looking forward to chatting.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Except that nobody is chatting

    ReplyDelete
  82. anyone have a time for campfire?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Watching ESPN ticker run the number of decommits out of Auburn during the Louisville game. Currently showing 5

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'll go to chatroll and see what's up

    ReplyDelete
  85. ouch. I hated losing Montex Robertson, although I am sure Auburn would have run his considerable skills into the ground

    ReplyDelete
  86. Jay will send a message thru facebook when the campfire is up so check there for the time...

    ReplyDelete
  87. he wont name time here. cant get on face book here

    ReplyDelete
  88. Charlie Strong does look interesting...defensive coach but also coached wide receivers for a time. I just think AU is looking for a big name not an up and comer.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Cool. I will check the email.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I agree we want a big name. I just don't see alot of big names out there

    ReplyDelete
  91. Jay, or whom ever,

How do I sign up for Facebook? My wife is on it but I have refused. So, now I am relenting. What do I do to sign up for the facebook group?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Thanks Mr Sense --- my wife is actual an executive recruiter for a company that specializes in Engereering/ project managers.

She sent me much of the same so I could work on my skillz during my workday.

Anyone need to buy a effin car?!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I wouldn't mind Charlie Strong. I think we would get a positive spin on the hire. I think he could recruit Florida well for us. I would like to see Willis retained and work for Strong if he came in. If Strong was hired who would you like for the OC?

    ReplyDelete
  94. So who is the Super Bowl winning coach we are coing after?

    ReplyDelete
  95. McBain, set up an account for yourself. It's very easy and straight forward. Of get your wife to do it for you ;-) Then search for HABOTN and request membership. Send me an e-mail letting me know it's you and then Jay or I will admit you to the group.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Is Chuck Knoll still alive? we should get that guy

    ReplyDelete
  97. Eddie, super bowl winning coach? More info, please.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Michael throwing me under the bus earlier....NICE....

What is it about Kristina and her superiority complex relative to male/female interaction? Arrrggghhhh.

    ReplyDelete
  99. According to wiki, yes Chuck Knoll is still alive and kicking at 76.

    ReplyDelete
  100. wow! he's younger than JoePa

    ReplyDelete
  101. Anonymous6:59 PM

How well does charlie Strong know Offense? The fans need to see some offense and we don't need to repeat CTT's skill set.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Faker, faker, faker...does the phrase quit while you're ahead mean anything to you? I already admitted we were evil, what more do you want from me?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Somebody on the bunker is swearing that Bill Cowher is a legitimate candidate. I find that funny. I don't believe there is anyway he would come to Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Kristina, how many of the rugular posters live in Auburn

    ReplyDelete
  105. Hoopie,

    You ok after yesterday's events?

    I was worried about you.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I said before he is way to scary to coach college ball. He even scares me through the tv.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm not sure Harrison. I think Montgomery and Auburn make up a big chunk but, Jay, I think can get the actual stats.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Eddie:

No way on Cower...He'll be back in the NFL soon.

What kind of guy is Jimbo Fisher? I assume you were around when he was there...

    ReplyDelete
  109. Or Cowher either.. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Hoopie, Strong's first coaching job was a wide receiver's coach at Southern Illinois during the 80's. But he is mainly a defensive guy.

    ReplyDelete
  111. No big deal. Just wondering. Thought you may know

    ReplyDelete
  112. I imagine Cowher could make some 18-22yr kids wet their pants at halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Somebody is a Charlie Strong fanboy.....errr girl.

    ReplyDelete
  114. If they're not already wet from him yelling and spitting all over them

    ReplyDelete
  115. Cowher makes me wet my pants...and I"m a man!!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. FSJ- FIsher is a good guy, but he was very tough on the QB's. Craig got along well with him, but others didn't, especially Ben Leard. Fisher is the only coach I saw get in a fight wtih a player. It happend at halftime of a game after bowden was let go. Not pretty then.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Wow,

He doesn't come across that way at all in interviews...

Obviously, you can't really tell about a coach until they are on the field.

I know a guy at Alabama that was a trainer when Stallings was there. He has lots of horror stories about him too.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Jay Jacobs is on Tiger Talk right now.

I'm listening. I'll let you know what he said.

    ReplyDelete
  119. cool. i can't hear it.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I've got it. The search firm is the same they used for the baseball coach. He says we have a list.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Baseball search went so well...

    ReplyDelete
  122. No way to know yet if that baseball hire was any good, but i suspect he is going to be a ggod hire

    ReplyDelete
  123. It was nothing if expeditious ...

    ReplyDelete
  124. Ok I will not say anything bad about JJ again...

    ReplyDelete
  125. Only took six months.

    ReplyDelete
  126. already over? Now we all love JJ?

    ReplyDelete
  127. If we have a campfire tonight, can I bring the Natural Light?

    ReplyDelete
  128. in honor of Mon

    ReplyDelete
  129. I wont say anything bad about him personally. I may criticize his work tho...

    ReplyDelete
  130. is JJ's cousin on that search firm or something?

    ReplyDelete
  131. I know this change had to take place & I as for it, I just hope Auburn can find someone like Tubs. Please let me explain what I mean. He was a class guy, he was a great spokesperson for Auburn, he was always very accomodating to the fans, he ran a clean program, etc. I just hope we can find someone that will build something great on that foundation Tub's laid.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Jay, what did he say about the players. I only caught the tail end. Something about the juniors wanting to know what they could do to help recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Yea -- juniors wanted to help with recruiting.

How about the 30-second wait for the third component of the ideal candidate?

    a.) Championships

    b.) Stability

    c.) ... c.) ... c.) ... c.) ...

    Oh yeah. c.) recruiting

    ReplyDelete
  134. has spencer pybus announced whether he was going to transfer or not?

    ReplyDelete
  135. He's been going non-stop for 36 hours. I'm just joshin with him.

Don't boo me for being hateful.

    Jacobs knows me.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Jay, do you know the meeting between JJ & the players went?

    ReplyDelete
  137. being mean is good for you sometimes. makes you feel good inside

    ReplyDelete
  138. Jay- Be gentle to Jay, he was on his knees yesterday begging Tubs to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  139. The meeting was fine; went as expected. It was more involved than Tommy's thing yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I'm just going to bite my tongue on the Spencer Pybus question.

    ReplyDelete
  141. do the players ever interact with JJ? or would they not recognize him if he came in their fron door?

    ReplyDelete
  142. i guess we will all be in suspense about s.pybus

    ReplyDelete
  143. Anonymous7:31 PM

    Jay G,

    Let it rip, man. C'mon.

    By the way, cinnamon.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Anonymous7:32 PM

FSJ...folks think I was a huge CTT supporter and I did want him to stay. My problem with all of this stuff had to do with the negative speculation and that it portrays AU in a negative light.

I'm old fashioned and feel that you should keep your disagreements quiet. For example if you want the coach fired....email the Prez....don't spew out in public. I realize that doesn't fit with the blog world, but I felt it was out of control to the point of being predatory.

On another note: Up until now, I have not been impressed with JJ. Regardless of how this event really went down, JJ, CTT and the PTB have put out a seemingly ironclad scenerio. After giving it some thought, I also think I'm buying it as very close to the truth. I can't think of an alternate scenerio wherein the parties end up being able to amicably agree to this story.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Harrison- I assure you that all players no JJ just as all players knew David Housel in 98 while I was there.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Jay G, Now that CTT has some time on his hands. He should join us for fun on the HABOTN. He could get a cool nickname like Lowder's Whipping Boy or something witty like that. Think of the insight he could offer. Extend a hearty greeting from all of us and invite him to join us. He will soon come to love us one and all.

    ReplyDelete
  147. You forget, but Tommy is all about Brevity (wasn't his comment like, "Why not just Hot Blog?" He would definitely pick Tubs4au or something.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Harrison,

Being mean is good for the soul..

    Makes me feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  149. How can Rutgers get a better QB than Auburn. Goodness Gracious Sakes alive, Rutgers has mike teel and Auburn lands a sore armed usta be and signed a 5 star QB from Ark that will never be.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Before everyone get too excited about another lady being around, "Sara" was me accidentally posting with my wife's account.

Did you guys not recognize the biting wit?

    ReplyDelete
  151. That would be good. I am tired of being the only ex coach on the HABOTN. I hope CTT joins up. This is the only site worth his time.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Good thing we didn't ask her about girl kissing and such.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Dang michael..

I was just about to ask for her number.

    ReplyDelete
  154. You obviously have never tried www.hotornot.com, crum.

    ReplyDelete
  155. LOL Denny

I almost posted that too but chickened out

    ReplyDelete
  156. I will ask her about girl kissing if you like, Denny

    ReplyDelete
  157. Denny, denny, denny

Michael, I was just thinking Sara was vying for your spot as funniest hottie. Glad you cleared that up.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Louisville's football program has gone to crap since Petrino bailed out...

    ReplyDelete
  159. I remember that site from like 8 years ago. I just keep it to things like the HABOTN or Losers with Socks. Nice one on that TN blog.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I just noticed I started paranthesis while posting as my wife. I think I will end it now, otherwise the rest of my posts from here to eternity on HABOTN might be considered merely parenthetical.)

    ReplyDelete
  161. No. that would be FSJ that would want to know. Talking about that with hot married chicks is what Fat Albert would say is like a broken air conditioner, UNCOOL.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Signed up for Facebook but when I search for HABOTN, it comes back empty.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Everybody is throwing me under the bust today.

    ReplyDelete
  164. McBain did you put it in all caps?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Course, while we are drinking beer and warming are toes by the campfire, all discussion is OPEN.

    ReplyDelete
  166. hmmm campfire, beer and a day off from work...sounds magical.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Rutgers is blowing Louisville up!

    ReplyDelete
  168. I tell you. Let me give Tom Jurich a call. That Steve Kragthorpe just might be given permission to talk to Auburn if I can work it.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Kristina,

Yes, I put it in all caps.

    ReplyDelete
  170. click on my profile here and send me an e-mail...I'll see what ic an do

    ReplyDelete
  171. did you go to groups. It is different than searching for peeps.

    ReplyDelete
  172. i find the habotn quite easily on facebook

    ReplyDelete
  173. I found it. What do I do now?

    ReplyDelete
  174. Request to be a member

    ReplyDelete
  175. Did you guys see the Rutger player tackle the Louisville player by his Dreadlocks? Ouch

    ReplyDelete
