Charles Barkley to Take Leave of Absence From TNT Network
Jan. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Charles Barkley will take a leave of absence from Time Warner Inc.’s TNT network after the basketball analyst was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol last week.
“When I spoke with Charles, he was apologetic for the events that transpired and it was obvious he understood the significance of this situation,” David Levy, president of Turner Sports, said in an e-mail.

Bin and JD - Happy New Year!!
Big day today!!
=================================>
Go Ravens!!
Scott ...
12 is my limit.
If there's any BIG news that breaks today, somebody let me know... I'm off to B'ham to look at houses. Fun Fun!
will the titans even score?
quoth the raven "nevermore".
Is it ok for a current Auburn player to help recruit potential players?
Omnica ...
I'm not sure "OK" qualifies as a legal term.
But if they don't get caught ... I'm all for it :)
Jet - just read it was Blazing Saddles night. It's great that you are introducing here to one of the finest films ever made. I hope she enjoys. My wife thinks its "silly".
j-z until you posted the note about Peter O'Toole, I have to honestly say I had never thought of that until you just mentioned it. I'm slightly embarrassed about not noticing.
i don't think there are any rules against Auburn students contacting high school students. what does your ncaa web site say about it? i'm sure the same rules apply about free rides, meals, and all that other stuff
anybody else watching West Ham try to give away their match against Newcastle.
I'm not motivated to look it up just yet. I'm watching NFL Countdown on ESPN, doing laundry and reading about recruiting.
Omnica the Queen of multitasking! I can barely "half-task", much less multitask.
Mrs THT wants to try a new place for lunch and then a few errands. Y'all get us some top notch coaches and players while we're gone.
How do y'all feel about recruiting a kid who has been found guilty by a jury of committing "the adult offenses of kidnapping and aggravated rape"?
Who is that Mon?
I like winning football games, but I like being an alumnus of a university associated with high character people more. I'd pass on all felons in the recruiting process.
The guy has paidhis debt to society. maybe he is a changed person.
I'm for giving a kid a chance if he sincerely wants to try to turn it around. But Chiz should make it clear that there is zero tolerance with something like that. One screw up and he's out.
AU1N04:
Thanks for the new year wishes. Hate to say it but you know I am going to be hoping your ravins lose today against my tennessee titans
JD - It's Daniel Hood.
I'm with you AStatguy. Especially considering the circumstances of his crime. It's a risk our program should not take.
I really like the he without sin aproach. Maybe getting Hood around a guy like Brother Chette will help direct his life in a much more positive direction.
Mon, Is he the guy that graduated from Knoxville Catholic HS?
The 2 sentence blurb that I can see sounds like that is still in process and he won't be going anywhere right now.
Looks like he was 13. How pitiful.
Yes, Kathy. Obviously, I don't know this kid personally, but I read his appeal that has the details of his crime. Also, I've spent a few years a therapist treating juvenile sex offenders. There's no bigger child advocate than me. These are very complex cases. It very well could be a good thing for Hood if ALL the circumstances, treatment and safety plan are just so. BUT in this case I'm looking at it from the perspective of Auburn University and from that vantage point I think it's a risk we should not take. Most importantly my opinion matters zilcho. :-)
It looks like he was recruited on CTT's watch. That group was pretty good at screening out trouble makers and must have seen good reason to give him the chance.
Yall see this story on Ralph Spry?
I know what you mean Mon. Thirteen yr-olds do stupid things, but I don't think AU is ready for that risk. Wouldn't he have to register as a sex offender?
What story JD?
The track and field coach's son Ralph Spry is transferring to Auburn from Minnesota after being suspended for the last two games of their season for "a violation of team rules"
So we add another WR to the team, a guy who has some previous slips and falls but maybe coming home and being close to his parents can get him in the right directions.
As a true freshman last year Spry played in all 12 games had 23 catches for 226 yards.
I love the "He who has not sinned" argument. Let's apply it. Everyone who has committed aggravated rape and kidnapping vote "Yes" and everyone else vote "No", and let's see if he's recruited. If that argument were applied to all crimes nobody would ever get convicted of anything.

I'm not saying that astat. All marks against society require some sort of punitive damages. However, this guy has satisfied those and should be judged accordingly. I chose to look at it as that happened when he was 13 now he is at least 4-5 years older. Has not had any other violations and should be judged accordingly. I do believe in rehabilitation. Sometimes people just make mistakes
Allright I am AUDI 5000. Gone to get some lunch then hopefully watch my Tennssee Titans take the Baltimore Ravens behind the woodshed...
Mrs. Jet and I are about to leave for Auburn to apartment hunt for Turbo Prop. Good times.
Unless you've been a victim of rape or know someone close to you that was, it's easy to say, "Let's give this guy another chance." I would rather not have someone like that on the AU football team, but in the words of Monica, "my opinion means zilcho."
Jet, We need to schedule movie night. I have Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein in my collection. We can always throw in Slapshot too. My wife has seen both, but she isn't a huge fan of Blazing Saddles. She's five years younger, so it's a little poltically incorrect for her at times. You and Mrs. Jet are welcome to come up any time for a "Laurel and Hearty Handshake".
Heck, maybe we need to schedule a backyard HABOTN movie night this spring. Anybody else up for it?
I'm here in Tallahassee at the fsu duke game and there are about 11,000 on hand makes us look like a middle school
