Gulley commits ... for real this time

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
Post No. 1,010

Our friend Phillip Marshall at AuburnUndercover.com is reporting that ATH Anthony Gulley of Brantley High really has committed to the Tigers. If you'll recall, he promised to commit after meeting taking his official visit on Jan. 18.

He visited Troy last weekend. Now he's sure: Gulley wants to play at Auburn.

I expect him to play wideout.

  2. michael, your bare head reminds me of Darth Vader coming out of the mask

  3. Sorry to repost, but does this mean another WR decided to go elsewhere, or did the coaches decide to sign an additional WR? Congratulations to Gulley.

  4. Depressed ... not sure how to read this in that context. I don't think this means Emory Blake is out of the picture or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  5. MT, does that answer your question!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Gulley may end up as a return man on special teams

  7. Depressed,
I am hearing that Kendall Kelly may have dropped AU and some feel that Blake is headed to TX Tech. Sucks, I would love to land both of these guys, and we may still be in it, I dunno. But, either they decided they wanted Gulley regardless or they have heard that some of the upper tier WR guys they were in on have decided to go elswhere.
I would like to get some clarification on this as well.

  8. Guys, this happened an hour ago.

  9. Moblz,
I will take it as officially official now that JGT has posted it such. Hard for me to believe anything these days until I read it here.

  10. By my kakulashuns... This should bring AU's commit list to 23 with 3 counting towards last year (EF, NF, & OM) and 1 a definite sign and place (TK) leaving 6 spots that can still be filled in this class.

    ReplyDelete
  11. MT,
Calm down it does not mean that we have lost Blake at all. where are you hearing this information?

I agree, i verify before I post, sometimes Jay G. is doing things and not able to get it posted on here...

  12. missed the campfire...out there doing appraisals for the people. brutal r.e. market out here.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I aint freakin out.
Just saying I had heard speculation. It may or may not have any truth to it at all. I'm still holding out hope that KK makes it in this weekend for a visit and that we land Blake.

I wasn't doubting you were telling the truth... I just thought the on, off, on again, on hold, on for sure now committment of Gulley was kinda funny.

  14. this is when 'crutin talk makes me queasy

  15. In the end we will play with the team we have....

    They will be good....

I have full faith our coaches will coach player up....

and for those of you who missed it ... Jay bitch slaped me on the last thread.

  16. Anyone know the best way to get a 5yr old's finger print of my 50" Vizio screen????

Manual says "neutral" cleaner. What's that?

    Thanks in advance.

What do we know about Gulley? And speaking of Brantley, I hope #81 Zachery & #13 Hawthorne are the breakout players in CGM's offense.

  17. Did you deserve it, DL?

    ReplyDelete
  18. i saw that leader. I'm sure that won't go unpunished from a man with your power

    ReplyDelete

Gulley average 31.9 yards per catch and accounted for 33 TD's rushing and catching. Not too sure about the competition, but none the less, those are great stats.

    ReplyDelete
  20. DL's abuse of that power is what got him in trouble in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Harrison.,..

Do you take me for a fool I will not fall victim to
one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a
land war in Asia; and only slightly less well known is this: Never go
in against a BLOG OWNER, when death is on the line!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well played DL, well played sir.

    ReplyDelete
  23. we live by different rules DL

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's about time for Hawthorne to earn that scholly.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'll take him, based on our current options at WR, we need all the help we can get. It's a #'s thing, maybe one of these guys will blossom into a breakout player.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Him being Gulley of course.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like the sound of this kid... he seems to be the definition of an athlete. If he doesn't work out on offense he could always end up in the defensive backfield ala Tavaris Robinson... those kind of kids are always good to have when injuries start to occur during a season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm certainly glad to have Gulley.
Would also like to get Blake, Kelly, and/or Randle

    ReplyDelete
  29. Jay,

any word on brandon heavens and why he still has not made his official visit?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Gulley gives you versatility. Beef him up a little and he could even be a RB. He's already bigger than lester when he got here. He could even play DB too. Good type of player to get even if wr doesn't work out.

    ReplyDelete
  31. NoAL, the poor play at WR combined with poor QB development has resulted in an offense inept beyond words. It will be interesting to see what a proven top-notch OC can do with these players. My feeling is they are nowhere near as bad as they have looked, but not all-conference type players either. Recruiting has got to pick up, and I think these coaches know it. Next year is crucial to re-establish AU in the recruiting battles.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Did he really average 20 yds a carry or is that a typo

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can't stand when a kid is not given enough credit just because he plays at a small school. If you can catch, run fast, jump high, have a good attitude and have the grades, it doesn't matter to me where you went to H.S.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I couldn't put up those numbers against a pee wee team

    ReplyDelete
  35. No doubt depressed, the WR's will be getting better coaching this year with Trooper. They obviously do have some talent. Should be exciting.

  36. found this on a news site:

AP-Multiple single car wrecks were reported throughout the country this afternoon. Most were concentrated in the Southeast. What makes this noteworthy are the eerily similar circumstances associated with these mishaps. Officers at all sites report DUI infractions. The victims were all under the influence of a crack, specifically HABOTN blog crack. This form of crack is pure, uncut, and highly addictive. Witnesses report that conscious victims at all sites refused medical care, but instead frantically asked paramedics to assist them in locating their cell phones amongst the wreckage. Many victims were heard murmuring unintelligibly about "the campfire" with hopes that it "wasn't yet extinguished."
Thankfully no serious injuries were reported.
    * * * *

I figured it was better to let my mind wander like that on the way home than actually try to get near the campfire. Did I miss any earth-shattering recruiting news?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't see the talent everyone keeps talking about in our WR's. I think Billings is useful, but beyond him we are going to be seriously hurting next year.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nothing earth shattering. We did land R. Randle and Emory Blake though. Good times.

    ReplyDelete
  39. hey, you guys remember the movie Fern Gulley? yep.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Of course, I could be wrong...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ron Mexico...
Heavens is scheduled for an official visit to Miss St. this coming weekend. Coincidentally, Harris Gaston is on that list as well.

    ReplyDelete
  42. doesn't sound like heavens is signing with us then... someone should explain to him how good of a coach greg knox will be at miss. st.

    ReplyDelete
  43. RM, I'm not saying they are THAT good, I just think they can be better than shown so far. I really think a good OC and a coach who puts more priority on offense can get more out of them. I could be dead wrong. For all the talk CTT had about recruiting speed, our skill players seem to be unable to break big plays. Hopefully, Malzahn can turn that trend around.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I asked the Bryce Brown's "mentor" how he felt his pay site squared with NCAA reg's and he said, "If this was against NCAA regulations I wouldn't be doing it. I work with some of the most high profile athletes in the country so staying within the rules is very important to me. Their [sic] not getting paid. Having a website is not against the rules. Thanks for asking, Proverbs 10:19-20"

    So, there ya go.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mon,
The fact that he is profiting by marketing those amateur athletes is against the rules.
Having a website is not against the rules, true... But, making money from that website is. If he wasn't charging for access it would all be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well, that seemed like a practiced response to me.

    ReplyDelete
  47. They can figure how to keep it 'within the rules'.... and they keep the money, too.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm excited about this recruiting class!

    Monica,
I like your style. Did you email the "non-agent" agent for BB?

    ReplyDelete
  49. This McElwain leaving thing is growing legs...

    ReplyDelete
  50. The internet is the equivalent of miracle growth for growing legs.

    ReplyDelete
  51. FWIW, I think the new staff needs to step up recruiting next year in Georgia (and obviously AL)- did a roster check during the season, AU had 21 players on the roster from GA. Small school down the road about 75 miles away had 34 from GA. No way AU should have less than Troy.

    ReplyDelete
  52. D.Miller, if I am not mistaken, Jay mentioned him looking around when the story broke about Lance Thompson leaving for UT. Maybe he had already heard whispers about him looking to bolt.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I heard on Finebaum today that Lance Thompson is the one telling people that McElwain is leaving

    ReplyDelete
  54. PC, just wondering does that mean he IS leaving or that Thompson is spreading a lie to hurt their recruiting?

Someone had a list of AU QB's yesterday - was Ralph Spry, Jr. on it? I believe Spry has to wait until 2010, is that right?

    ReplyDelete
  59. D. Miller - I'm sorry, but you are wrong because he wouldn't do it if it was against regulations. He just said so.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anon,
If I'm not mistaken Spry Jr. is a WR...

    ReplyDelete
  61. hahaha... you're right Mon... my bad. How dare I doubt the non-agent agent.

    ReplyDelete
  62. ;-) Miller

    Thanks, NoAl.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Looks like another solid player. His stats from his senior season seem unreal. Averaging 20 yards a rush and 32 yards per pass reception seems unreal. He wasn't being recruited by other SEC schools. I wonder what his story is.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Plane is in Tallahassee. Must be visiting Corey Gaines.

Hate that I missed the campfire. Work prevents me from participating during the day.

    ReplyDelete
  65. We already do have a lot of talent at wide receiver, although they haven't shown it. Zachary and Hawthorne were suppose to be great. We likely won't see a lot of playing time for many incoming freshman, maybe 2 or 3 will play.
