The recruiting weekend starts NOW
Hey everyone. Thanks for making Thursday a big day for HABOTN traffic. Our servers were sizzlin' all day, which makes everyone happy. You make great comments. I enjoy great comments.
It's a match made in heaven.
Auburn has several high-profile prospects headed for the Plains this weekend. Let's take a gander at the list. I'm putting them in order of how much they intrigue me:
NUGGETS D'OR (couldn't think of anything clever here)
TO PLACATE MYSELF
Video that has nothing to do with recruiting, but makes me laugh. May make you laugh as well if you're not already familiar. They definitely got the 1980s Rod Stewart vibe with this one.

Auburn has several high-profile prospects headed for the Plains this weekend. Let's take a gander at the list. I'm putting them in order of how much they intrigue me:
- QB Tyrik Rollison (Sulphur Springs, Texas)
- DT Jamar Travis (E. Brewton)
- LB DeDe Lattimore (Athens, Ga.)
- LB Greg King (Memphis, Tenn.)
- DL Myles Wade (Eugene, Ore., by way of Arizona junior college)
- WR Travante Stallworth (Leesville, La.) **AUBURN COMMIT**
LB Deontae Skinner (Macon, Miss.)- DB Izauea Lanier (Gordo) **AUBURN COMMIT**
- LB Joel Kight (suburban Atlanta)
- OL Hunter Stout (Tampa, Fla.)
- QB Robert Cooper (Daphne)
NUGGETS D'OR (couldn't think of anything clever here)
- Tyrik Rollison told AuburnSports.com that his recruitment is down to Auburn and Kansas State. How's that for accelerated attention? Auburn wasn't recruiting him on Dec. 1. If you can check out the Rivals.com film on him, do it. His footwork leaves a lot to be desired, but it's clear he knows how to make plays.
- Greg King is a new name to me. He's a speedy outside linebacker from Memphis who met with Tennessee last weekend. Looks like a useful weak-side guy to me.
- I bet Jamar Travis ends up at Auburn. He's a Southern Miss commitment, but he told AuburnUndercover.com that he's basically waiting on an offer from the Tigers. Then everything will change. What I hear about him -- smaller than ideal but plays with unusual fervor -- is exactly what we heard about Sen'Derrick Marks back in the day.
TO PLACATE MYSELF

re: the 100-0 girls game. coolest sportsmanship i've ever seen was at texas a & m in the early 70's. the aggies weren't very good and they had this guy named gene stallings as coach. they had wich. state on their schedule the year that most of that tam's varsity got killed in a plane crash. wich. st. showed up for the game with their jv. stallings started substituting after the 1st series. there were aggies playing in the fourth quarter that would probably never see the filed again. still, it was a drubbing. finally, near the end of the game, wich. state scored. the crowd went wild, aggie players were mobbing the wich. state guys. the celebration went on for about 15 minutes. very cool thing to have seen.
Peter - I liked the "hardy har har" comment that you deleted much better than the nursing home one. Always go with first instinct, shugah. ;-)
meant "team's" and "field"
That is very cool, indeed, Scott.
YMCA basketball ... I was 13 or 14.
We were down 18-0 at the end of the first quarter ... I made a jumper in the lane to make it 26-2, and it was 32-2 at the half.
Second half tip, I somehow end up with the ball and head in for an easy layup -- it hits me ... WRONG GOAL, IDIOT!
I intentionally brick it, but my buddy tips it in for them.
Eventually, we get three free throws, including one from my friend and we lose 59-5.
We still argue who was our leading scorer that day. I am because I had the lone basket for us. He says he was because he had three points ... but I say his two is credited someone else on the other team.
I don't trust my instinct. It's betrayed me before. I thought Tony Franklin was a good idea, initially.
Jet N. Fuego said, "Omnica has such power over many of the men here"
Monica, this is the power to which I was referring.
Thanks for the drive-by inboxing Mon.
David Oku visiting huh...nice
Just to let you know ... I'm listening to "Dazz (Disco Jazz)" by Brick.
Sorry Big MikeZ16, but yesterday it seemed that some misunderstood what I was saying. It wasn't a criticism of Chizik or his hire. It is an issue with how the coaching community views Auburn.
"Don't Go Back to Rockville."
I am not convinced that Franklin was a bad idea. It is very possible it was a good idea, with a bad implementation. Needless to say, I do think Franklin had personality issues that made it difficult for him to fit in.
Anybody else hearing rumblings of "Big News" coming out of Auburn this weekend?
To quote Led Zeppelin ...
"Rumble on," Aubie.
Whatcha hearin'?
funny story, jet.
I have heard a rumble or 3, but no one has yet to expound on what they are rumbling.
Is Greg Smith running windsprints? Or did Charles Deas eat a chili dog? What exactly is rumbling?
The rumbling is expanding, but will someone expound on it?
Not sure. Two of my friends close to the University have said there is something big brewing.
Something big brewing? We need to get our ace reporter on it.
223
dang it!
It is not only coffee that is brewing?
I still don't have anything substantive. It's difficult at times distinguishing between rumor and fact.
just give hints on what it might be
It seems like since the coaching change, most of the rumors have turned out to be true. At least at a much higher rate than during the coaching search.
Could we at least here one of the rumors or are we trying to ignore those.
The rumor is that Willis just hired on at bama so he could take a dump in Saban's office, and now he is back at AU.
Is it the "Jay Jacobs is fired" thing? Because that is pretty yawn inducing to me at this point.
I could live with that michael
Seriously- what could the rumor be? Unless it is cleaning house in the Ath Admin dept.
If it's still kosher to discuss T.Franklin, then....
What about the story (rumor) from Melick that Willis approached Saban through an "intermediary" (hint: Tuberville).
Also, this was posted below the story: SPUAT fan predicting last fall that Willis would be hired in January. What the $%*&@!@## is going on??? This is all too bizarre.
http://www.tiderinsider.com/mb/msg/4332590.html
No clue as to what it is...
It's just big.
(That's what she said)
WHAT!!!!!
Tuberville is supposedly an "ambassador" for the University, but he called Sabin to get Willis a job?
THE WHAT?
Just to let you know ... I'm listening to "Dazz (Disco Jazz)" by Brick
That's coo lJet - I'm listening to Rick Dee's Disco Duck.
That's the one, WDE.
New thread up. Not exactly substantial, but it's up nonetheless.
nice "that's what she said" aubie
Ok, I will answer in ROCK SONGS QUOTES from here on -- "Rumble on"
Bitchin'
Tommy Tuberville to be hired as Athletic Director. Ummm, how is that for a rumor? Someone on another blog needs to quote me as a very reliable source. Of course, I have not guess, but that is my wag.
It a related story, Patrick Fain Dye jumps off bridge and loses pants.
I had a feeling about David Conner. He de-committed immediately after Tubs left, dis'd us, and voiced a preference for OM. (Nutt's like that friend who would only call girls after you date them.) And then he went quiet, but Auburn stayed quiet. It just felt like the new staff didn't want him.
He committed to UAB today - lesson learned, don't break commitments.
