The recruiting weekend starts NOW

Hey everyone. Thanks for making Thursday a big day for HABOTN traffic. Our servers were sizzlin' all day, which makes everyone happy. You make great comments. I enjoy great comments.

It's a match made in heaven.

Auburn has several high-profile prospects headed for the Plains this weekend. Let's take a gander at the list. I'm putting them in order of how much they intrigue me:

  • QB Tyrik Rollison (Sulphur Springs, Texas)
  • DT Jamar Travis (E. Brewton)
  • LB DeDe Lattimore (Athens, Ga.)
  • LB Greg King (Memphis, Tenn.)
  • DL Myles Wade (Eugene, Ore., by way of Arizona junior college)
  • WR Travante Stallworth (Leesville, La.) **AUBURN COMMIT**
  • LB Deontae Skinner (Macon, Miss.)
  • DB Izauea Lanier (Gordo) **AUBURN COMMIT**
  • LB Joel Kight (suburban Atlanta)
  • OL Hunter Stout (Tampa, Fla.)
  • QB Robert Cooper (Daphne)

NUGGETS D'OR (couldn't think of anything clever here)

  • Tyrik Rollison told AuburnSports.com that his recruitment is down to Auburn and Kansas State. How's that for accelerated attention? Auburn wasn't recruiting him on Dec. 1. If you can check out the Rivals.com film on him, do it. His footwork leaves a lot to be desired, but it's clear he knows how to make plays.

  • Greg King is a new name to me. He's a speedy outside linebacker from Memphis who met with Tennessee last weekend. Looks like a useful weak-side guy to me.

  • I bet Jamar Travis ends up at Auburn. He's a Southern Miss commitment, but he told AuburnUndercover.com that he's basically waiting on an offer from the Tigers. Then everything will change. What I hear about him -- smaller than ideal but plays with unusual fervor -- is exactly what we heard about Sen'Derrick Marks back in the day.

TO PLACATE MYSELF

Video that has nothing to do with recruiting, but makes me laugh. May make you laugh as well if you're not already familiar. They definitely got the 1980s Rod Stewart vibe with this one.

  3. Hey,
Looks like we got ourselves some great recruits this weekend coming... i'm looking forward to it!

  4. Anon,
can you log in and get a real name so we can properly chastize you on the H.A.B.O.T.N.?

  5. posted this on the other thread.

I really was looking over the recruiting board last night and I am not sure why folks think we can't have a solid recruiting class. Here is how I could see defensive side going down.

I think DT we should be good, and it was a big need for us, with 4* Myles Wade, 4* Jamar Travis (He is just waiting on a AU offer, 3* Nick Fairley and I think we have a chance at picking up 4* Corey Gaines after this weekend.

LB seems pretty good as well no superstars besides 5* The Bull. I think 3* Lattimore would be a good one, 3* Greg King looks good and when AU paid him some attention he canceled his Miami trip to visit AU, Johnathan Evans and Harris Gaston will be good as well. Then rounding it out this new kid Bamfo (LB, TX) looks pretty good and is eerily similar to Tray Blackmon

On the ends, looks like 3* Dee Ford will be great, once he bulks up. 4* Nosa Eguae I think he signs as well. That could be it but with the guys we have there now should not be an issue. Especially with our major recruit A. Coleman coming back for his Sr. Season.

Then in the secondary 4* DB Reggie Taylor looks like he will be a difference make. I think next weekend we get 4* DB Taikwon Paige when he is officially offered. Other than those 2 not sure who else.

Over all Defense seems like it will be solid.

Any one else care to chime in or perhaps disect our potential offensive class?

  6. TGIF!!!!!!!

What a long week. I bet the weekend flies by.

  7. Anon's name is Tim, aunmobilz.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Anon- drink a cup of coffee (or in my case a diet coke); it will improve your reaction tmies.

Jay GT- it's a shame recruiting isn't your "thing". Your awful good at it. Thanks so much! Nuggets d'or est tres magnifique!

    ReplyDelete
  9. -but not your spelling... *times

    ReplyDelete
  10. I get by with a LOT of help from my friends on recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Who is going to the Au Women's game against Tennessee? That is a huge game. I wish I could go.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think Taylor is very small but as I understand it he has very good cover skills

    ReplyDelete
  13. will the game be on the tube.....i'm sure the SEC will have it on to market their product!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Defending National Champion vs undefeated highest ranked SEC women's team..... AU vs Tenn...oh yeah its Game On!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anonymous8:52 AM

we have to win this game this weekend!!

    ReplyDelete

Michael - is that Tim? He has not been around for awhile.

    Tim is that you?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'll be watching the ladies this weekend, thanks to scoring a free ticket from fellow HABOTN contributor, Shesaid. Thanks shesaid!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Auburn/Tennessee will be on CSS.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah, I think Tim got banned for awhile. Hopefully he learned his lesson.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Go Lady Tigers.

I will enjoy also watching the Winter X games this weekend. I love the Winter X games.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Eddie, I'm gonna be in the house for the women's game Sunday. Can't wait to scream myself hoarse. I hope maintenance was able to clean up that mud hole Auburn stomped in UAT last night.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You're welcome, Will. We HABOTN Hotties (and Tiger Tailgaters) have to look out for one another.

    ReplyDelete
  23. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  24. shesaid- I heard they were able to clean up but having difficulty getting the stench out.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well the Lady Tigers were clearly looking ahead last night until they dropped their foot on UAT's neck and the gas and pulled away!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I for one will be watching the Game on Sunday, to see the REAL SEC power step up!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I know Bonner, Boddie, and Smalley are the ones who get the headlines for this team, but I'm diggin that one lady Tiger (can't recall her name) who plays underneath. She's gotta be 6'5 260.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Will, she didn't even take her shooting shirt off last night. When does she play?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Eddie I will be at the AU/Tenn game! Look for the Big Cat in the HABOTN shirt.

DoWhat- Good assessment of our potential. Personally I would like to see a few more bigger LBs like D.T Shackleford and Tana Patrick. Both are probably long shots but I can wish.

Taikwon Paige would be great at corner and if we can get Wade and Travis at DT then we increase our depth. I'm was suprised that xCTT didnt offer Travis earlier. He was always high on AU.

The lack of OL scare me a bit especially with Ramsey gone for good. WRs will be ok if we can coach them up a bit. Most seemed to make some ok progress last year as the season progressed.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Keshonda "KeKe" Carrier?

    Also known as "Keek."

She played last night for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I need to make a Keek shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Added "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)" to the main blog.

Searching for a YouTube laugh this morning and found it there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "Geeked for Keek!" or "Keek Squad"

    ReplyDelete
  34. Keek Squad is brilliant.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Best part of being in the Keek Squad ... you only have to cheer for 10 minutes per game.

    ReplyDelete
  36. She played alright. She played like a beast. She had one trip down the floor on D and almost had back to back blocks...the first was clean, but she put a little something extra into the 2nd and got the whistle.

Would you rather fight her or Sen'Derrick Marks?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Both of them are exceedingly nice people. I don't think they'd fight anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Artile on Kight in the Atlanta paper this morning. He wants to play near home (Atlanta), but not at home. He dropped Georgia Tech from consideration when he got an offer from us. Competition is now Ole Miss. I wouldn't be surprised if he commits.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Kight's an interesting case. OM and GT want him at running back, but he wants to play defense. That's unusual. He's 5'9" and 199. AJC says he a DB, but the recruiting services say he's a linebacker. Looks like a db body to me. He was Geaorgia's largest high school classification defensive player of the year as a junior. I think he only has two stars may be because his high school made him play running back as a senior, and he's a defender.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow...Forty someodd posts and no mention of James Willis yet. Wait...What? crap. My bad.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think the best screen villain comparable for James Willis is Pat Healy in Something About Mary.

Michael, please explain how this analogy works and be sure to use the word "retards" in your discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm clueless as to how we have become one of T. Rollinson's top two.

    ReplyDelete
  43. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WARTIGER!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. That video could be retitled "Ode to a Stalker"

    ReplyDelete
  45. Phred,

it's all about his grades. Since us and K-State are the people that are recruiting him the most it tells me there is very little shot of getting him in school next year. So we will probably sign and when he gets qualified he will go somewhere else ala enrique davis and jermaine johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  46. also, do names get any cooler than george bamfo nicknamed "black smoke". He looks like tray blackmon to me.

    ReplyDelete
  47. with a name like BAMFO....he needs to come to Auburn for sure, then he's in "BAMma FOsure"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. this is what black smoke does to people....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buZdqMP4Tuo

    ReplyDelete
  49. He is very close to Coach Luper and Coach Luper coached his uncle or brother I believe. Plus he and his family are driving to Auburn from Sulphur Springs after his basketball game tonight. I would say he is serious about giving Auburn a look.

    ReplyDelete
  50. DAMN Ron!
I like that if he does to RB's and WR's!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Wow - I have found a home.

Jay Tate, this is an awesome blog. It's actually Auburn folks talking Auburn stuff. I am so fed up with the blather and drivel on al.com I could puke.

    War Friggin' Eagle!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Charles from Reeltown is giving it to old John Longshore, what a trip!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Charles from Reeltown just told Longshore he was going to get some medicine alright, a country boy A*% Whoopin! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  54. Charles from Reeltown is an embarrasement. I hate fans like him.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I don't know me makes me and the wife laugh every time we hear him come on any of the sports shows. For those who do not get to listen to the sports shows here is a clip with Charles on youtube

It is Finebaum but go to "Charles from Reeltown" and listen http://www.finebaum.com/audio2_2008.html

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anybody else think that guy in the video looks like Stephen Colbert?

    ReplyDelete
  57. You guys see Terrance Coleman's comments on Willis leaving?

"He told me that he was going to be at Auburn when I came there. He was sitting in my living room two nights ago and told me that. He also told me some not-so-nice things about Alabama, so I am not happy about this. I didn't know he was like that. I am going to stay committed to Auburn, but I don't know for sure what I am going to do."

Willis will fit right in with Saban and that crew. I'm angry about this. Like, punch-a-baby angry!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ah, now your gonna have me doing that funky dance in the video. How cruel.

I am pleased to see we are getting some new recruits on campus. The perception of Auburn could change a lot if we are able to land some of the higher profile athletes. This won't turn into a great recruiting class, but it could become decent.

    ReplyDelete
  59. EHYOU-

    Welcome aboard!!! and War Eagle!!!

We're not all AU folks here, but we're all nice folks. Fake Steve Jobs (FSJ) is, if you'll excuse the oxymoron, a classy bammer.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Uh oh...Did Steve just smile a little bit when he talked about the recruiting class?

    ReplyDelete
  61. The guy in the video has some serious moves. The kind I can only dream of one day learning....classic!

    ReplyDelete
  62. EHYOU-

    Welcome to the HABOTN!
The HOTTIES send a HOT welcome to you!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Now we can upgrade at another asst coach position.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Tony Franklin reportedly interviewed for OC at Middle Tenn, not that we care anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  65. j-z, I am up in the air when it comes to recruiting. If Chiz and company can land a few of these high profile recruits, they have done well. If they can't, they wasted a lot of time chasing dreams. This is kind of a test of their ability to choose who to recruit. You don't expect to get a lot of them, but you expect to get some.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Welcome to the HABOTN, ehyoutiger.

    War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Tony Franklin going to MTSU is interesting. MTSU is in Murfreesboro, TN, which is basically the armpit of Tennessee. Tennessee is a beautiful state, except for Murfreesboro. I worked there for about 3 years.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anyone seen this?

DALLAS -- A Texas high school girls basketball team on the winning end of a 100-0 game has a case of blowout remorse.

School seeks to forfeit 100-0 win

    ReplyDelete
  69. I saw that on Sportscenter this morning Monica. Mark Cuban offered the loosing team to come watch a Mavericks game from his box. 100-0 is absolutely no class. You can at least let them score. That is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anyone else get mad/frustrated by Petey Smith's comments about bama/Auburn?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Petey who?

Actually, who cares what a recruit says. They are kids with huge egos. They are bound to say something crazy, good or bad.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous10:54 AM

That winning high school is probably represented by Bendini, Lambert, & Locke.

Who coaches those girls? Wayne Grant?

What a sorry thing to do?

    ReplyDelete
  73. That women's basketball team should earn the right to play against a men's pro team. Then, they can get decimated 150 - 0.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Somebody has been reading some John Grisham...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous11:00 AM

As far as Petey and the rest of the funky bunch of recruits go, I'll believe their hype when the actually produce on the field.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Wow, I can't believe there is a coach that would allow a game like that to happen. I know we had a football game against one of the Kansas schools in the 80s. The game was decided by halftime. Coach Dye agreed with the opposing coach to not stop the clock in the second half. I always admired Dye for that.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Wow - I heard Collin Cowherd talking about this - did they taunt the losing team as well as drop a hunnerd on 'em?

Hate to say it, but look at what happened the other night in the UConn/Syr women's game.

They won by 50 something and the HC at UConn had words with a Syr player.

Women's college BBall seems to have a bunch of those type of blowouts.

    ReplyDelete
  78. How does one email mr jay g tate, couldn't find a linky on front page. Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Check out this story:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3854081&campaign=rss&source=NCFHeadlines

It is about some lawmakers voting not to honor Florida as a swipe at the BCS system. The last paragraph is awesome:

"A spokesman for Rep. Bobby Bright, an Alabama Democrat and Auburn University graduate, said his reasons for not supporting the measure were simpler: He simply couldn't bring himself to support a school that is such a bitter rival of his state's universities."

Make Bobby Bright representative for life!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I can't believe congress would get involved in the way the NCAA determines a championship. I would ask that any congressman participating please refund his salary and resign.

    ReplyDelete
  81. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  82. After being locked out all morning long, I chugging in all the HABOTN my body can handle.

    Gimme 'nother.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I used to officiate HS football, and I will tell you that:

    a. I ran the clock even when the coaches wouldn't agree with it.

    b. I told an offense while they were in their huddle that if they ran for more than 5 yards on a play, it was coming back. And I flagged 'em when they did. No need for a team to score more than 70 in high school ball.

    And I'd do it again.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous11:33 AM

Hope Greg Brewer doesn't read that, Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  85. ZteveFC- I assume you meant the BCS, which has nothing to do with the NCAA

    ReplyDelete
  86. The NCAA doesn't determine a champion in Div 1-A football, much to the consternation of most college football fans.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I have been locked out all morning too, Jet.

    What did we do?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Anybody hearing the rumors that Jay Jacobs is going to be fired today? Where is this coming from?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Didn't Lisa Leslie drop a 100 on a team all by herself in HS...like in a half??!!! I think the other team refused to come out for the second half.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anonymous11:38 AM

Eddie - Where did you hear that one?!

    ReplyDelete
  91. That rumor is floating around the Rivals site. It seems to be picking up steam. I wouldn't understand why, especially when you would only replace one puppet with another puppet.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jet...that's just awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I carry a yellow flag around at all times and throw it out when being wronged.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Anonymous11:47 AM

Where's Monica? I wonder if she's read this too, Eddie.

(let's see how long it takes for her to appear...)

    ReplyDelete
  95. For you recruiting junkies, there is an article on rivals saying that David Oku will be visiting next weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  96. HAHAHAHA Eddie! That made me laugh out loud right here in my office. I'm getting a yellow flag today!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Monica- That would constitute a 15 yard penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I will be at the women's game Sunday. I spoek with the ticket office and they say @11,000 tickets have been sold.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous11:58 AM

wtc, that place will be rockin'! I'll be there too. It will be my first!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Man David Oku would be big, he is versatile like Bryce Brown

    ReplyDelete
  101. I just see the same rumors Eddie is talking about. I think it's just goober talk.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Eddie, that is good news about David Oku. I've heard a lot of great things about him, and I'm glad to see that we have a shot at him.

    ReplyDelete
  103. quick blurb on Oku, please. Swamped at work & don't have time to go diggind

    ReplyDelete
  104. "It looks like I'll visit Auburn next week," he said. "I'm still committed to Tennessee, but I'm taking all of my visits to make sure of my choice. I haven't de-committed or anything."

As a senior, Oku had his best season, rushing 286 times for 1,905 yards and 23 touchdowns as Carl Albert advanced to the Class 5A championship game.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oku is 4-star rivals rated back, 97th overall prospect. He was heavily recruited by Tubs and now he is again insterested. He would be a great pickup if we were lucky enough to get him.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Also he camped at AU a couple of years ago. Here is a youtube clip maybe we can rekindle some of those feelings he had about Auburn.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp6KdmbWymw

    ReplyDelete
  107. Mon, I could see something happening in terms of athletic administration.

I don't think Jacobs is involved, though.

Some situations have, in my opinion, been mishandled lately. We'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  108. THANKS! i'll youtube when I get home.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Jay- Are you referring to Tim Jackson?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Anonymous12:12 PM

    Just a note...

I noticed that PM made mention that no one has contacted Coleman since the Willis departure.

    ReplyDelete
  111. On Coleman- maybe Auburn is tired of getting played by him?

    ReplyDelete
  112. There's a lot of people in athletic administration. In this situation, I heard about the problems ... not the perpetrator.

    ReplyDelete
  113. could it be tim jackson

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'll be on WMSP again here in a bit. Aiming to get over there around 1.

Listen in if you dare: WMSP linkage

    ReplyDelete
  115. Jay GT- I agreed with your comments, but more importantly, I just wanted to say "spot on."

And as a favor to Monica, snarky, snarky snarky

    Now back to work. SeizureL8r

    ReplyDelete
  116. Jay, do you mean nuggets du jour ?? D'or is a french name for girls. Although i'm behind on my pop culture and it could be something i know nothing about but just thought i'd let ya know what my perception was upon reading. Fill me in if i'm not " in the know". Thanks, and 'preciate the recruiting coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  117. BTW, Binoba
I have more dental cavities than you.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Mr. Gnome ...

Mr. Brewer and I are positively acquainted with each other ... plus, I am retired and the statute of limitations has passed on my sins.

And ... I had Montevallo plus-64 in the game, so I cleaned up.

    ReplyDelete
  119. If we somehow get past the dicussion stage and have a tailgating event at a game this fall ... we need a good name for it.

    Suggestions?

    Here are a few.

    SnarkStock
    HABOTNy Lab
    Michael and 200 Normal People
    Monica and the Brother Husbands

    ReplyDelete
  120. Anonymous12:35 PM

Sterling Griffin, WR Miami decided not to come visit this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  121. D'or, I think, means "of gold".

    ReplyDelete
  122. Binoba-
    besides, girls don't have nuggets.

which reminds me of the cartoon of the chicken on the examining table in doc's offc. Doc looking over the med chart says, "I'm afraid we're going to have to remove your nuggets."

    ReplyDelete
  123. Which reminds me of the greeting card of a very happy chicken and a very exasperated egg lying in bed ... with the caption

I guess that answers that question.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Tar - thanks for gettin snarky with it! WOOP WOOP

Jet - Snark Stock make me snort - for real - laughing that let to a snort.
"Michael and 200 Normal People" is also good, but where are we going to find 200 normal people?
"Monica and the Brother Husbands" I love, but don't see anyone else going for that.

    good stuff

    ReplyDelete
  125. JET! You're on fire today. Stop! Bosslady is going to come in here and want to share in my laughter.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Anonymous12:51 PM

Jet, what's a Brother Husband? I must have missed out on that conversation.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Jet: Me and 200 normal people? Are you really not going to invite the others in the League of Hottie Hooligans? (of which you are a member)

    ReplyDelete
  128. Hope we get the final visit for Bryce Brown. That would be huge seeing how has not taken another official visit since Nov 28th

    ReplyDelete
  129. If we get Oku, Brown and Randle to visit on the same weekend , that seems to be quite a recruiting coup in itself.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Luv, In Monica's favorite show ... "Big Love," which is about a polygamous family. The wives are refer to each other as "Sister Wives."

I have started referring to myself as a "Brother Husband" since I have been accused of having multiple personalities.

Also, because Omnica has such power over many of the men here, we could be identified as her HABOTN "brother husbands."

Forgive the inside jokey jokemaker of it.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Michael - I had your back on that one! Just let the record reflect that please and thank you.

Luv - it's a Facebook reference - I commented how much I love the show Big Love and a whole multiple wives/husbands thing ensued.

When you're married to a man with many wives, the other wives are called your "sister wives".

    ReplyDelete
  132. Michael ... it's been a good 20 years since I've been called a "hooligan."

    Man, memories. Sweet memories.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Sorry for echoing the explanation. Jet, are you trying to have me voted off the island with comments like that "power over" one? grrrr

    ReplyDelete
  134. Anonymous1:00 PM

Is anyone wondering why we're not recruiting more OL? I know we dropped Moore and there are one or two here and there, but OL is a MAJOR issue for Auburn.

In fact, I would much rather see us signing a bunch of top quality OL than 4 star/5 star RB's and WR's. If you ain't got the blocking, you don't have squat!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Anonymous1:01 PM

You have power, Monica, and you love it. You know you do!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Well Chizzle you are the Head Coach so make it happen!

    ReplyDelete
  137. No, Moneeeca.

    Mi isla es su isla.

    Su Amigo,

    Jet

    ReplyDelete
  138. Chizzle - We won't know who has signed until signing day. It's gonna be okie dokie.

Luv! You're supposed to be on my team! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  139. I am a bit concerned with the number of linemen we are recruiting, although I don't tend to distinguish offensive linemen from defensive linemen. We have been known to turn DLs into OLs.

    ReplyDelete

  141. We have also been known to turn promising receivers into decoys who run around the field.

    Auburn! Yeehaw!

  142. Terrence Coleman and Petey Smith have both become irritating to me. I am starting to feel they should just move along. If they visit again, let Ziemba escort them. If they make an offending remark, let the head ripping begin.

Ha. Very funny! It's just hard for me to get too excited about this recruiting class without some solid OL. I think it's one of the most underperforming areas of Auburn's team in the last decade, barring some standout players who anchored the unit.

Yeah, I agree things will be okay and that we probably will turn some DL's into OL's. Just general concern and hoping we start getting tougher up front.

  150. I will be happy if we can just get some offensive linemen that can understand one simple concept. Ball moves, you moves. Ball don't move, you don't move. Lets get guys that can handle that concept and work from there.

  156. The continuity on the staff that is being discussed now is a concern I have. If you want me to define continuity, take a look at our offensive staff this last season. That is what that staff didn't have.

It isn't enough to get good coaches. If they can't work well together, it doesn't matter.

  172. AUnMobilz, Auburn's problems in the coaching community really began with Terry Bowden and how he left. Jetgate added to the problems. The way Muschamp left added to it. The way Tuberville left also added to it. Apparently what happened with Willis was also another indicator.

I had hoped our issues with coaches would go away when Housel was replaced. It doesn't seem like that is the case.

Among the coaching community, Tuberville is viewed as a top notch coach that was mistreated by Auburn.

What went on with Muschamp was even more ridiculous. If he asked for ticket to the bowl game, there should have been no issue with it. When you pay a guy hundreds of thousands a year, you make sure minor things like that don't get in the way.

I really don't know enough about how the athletic department functions to know the root cause of these issues, but there is an issue that needs to be addressed.

This isn't to say that Chizik and company won't be successful. It is about whether Auburn is view as a final destination for a coach or a jumping off point.

A good example of this was Coach Fraud at Alabama and his move to Texas A&M, which was definitely a lateral move at best. Bama has had the problem with this reputation ever since Bear Bryant left. It is part of why Stallings left.

I am hoping to get back to the reputation we had with Shug through Dye. Whether they would be around next season was not a constant topic. Even with Barfield, he was given a decent shot.

    We have a bad rep.

Started w/ Bowden departure, then JetGate, then Muschamp, then Tuberville

    Coaches know this.

    Problem must be fixed.

    Alabama has had same rep.

    - My head hurts now from trying to read multiple languages. The Official Language of the HABOTN is English! Learn it. Live it. Love it.

Jet, what's Rollison's FB status say today? Inquiring minds gotta know.
    Oh, and TGIF!

  187. My take ...

This bad rep business may be true, may not.

I think we hired the No. 2 guy on our list. The rest was just show.

A former player turned us down to be an assistant coach? We hired a coach in that guy's slot who has been with successful programs -- BYU and Boise State.

An assistant coach has left us to go to our archrival? I don't think he can sway many players, and the signals to last season's offensive plays are, well, no longer being used.

I don't see where we've been that hurt badly -- so the media got wound up a while, but January still has a week left in it and it's over.

Face it, the first two words you think of when you think of Charles Barkley ain't "Turner Gill."
