MONDAY MORNING
Post No. 1,002
Hey everyone.
My guess is this could be a significant day in the world of Auburn recruiting. QB Tyrik Rollison of Sulphur Springs, Texas, is expected to make a commitment to the Tigers. He is listed by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 2 "dual-threat" quarterback, which certainly will add some luster to Auburn's collection of recruits.
DB Izauea Lanier said yesterday that Rollison committed during the weekend. Also, some undercover HOTTIES have indicated that Rollison made his Auburn intentions known on his Facebook page yesterday.
Rollison didn't begin his official visit until Saturday because of a Friday night basketball game. Since he started a day late, he'll be leaving a day late ... ie this morning. That explains why you haven't heard from Rollison just yet.
I have no doubt he'll pick Auburn.
1? really?
ReplyDeletedos...new thread ...doesnt say how your better than everyone else though jay..u gotta fix that
ReplyDeleteBetter than everyone else?
ReplyDeleteway to go wade
ReplyDeleteJay have you heard anything about Willis (prior to his departure) misleading the Gulley family concerning Anthony Gulley's AU offer status? SIAP, but that seems to be the new hotness on the beaten dead horse that is James Willis.
ReplyDeleteJay G. - will Rollison be elgible? On Scout he says he got a 13 on the ACt and he 'doesn't know' his GPA. That doesn't sound too good . . .do you know anything about his status? he'd be important IF he can play this year.
ReplyDeleteJay I believe that our Hotties could find Bin Laden if we were asked to. We snoop pretty good!
ReplyDeleteDo you think there is any way possible for Rollison to qualify? A jump from a 13 ACT score to a 17 or 18 would surely trigger an NCAA clearinghouse investigation right? Maybe someone with more knowledge on the specifics of this sort of thing can enlighten us.
did toomers get rolled yesterday?
ReplyDeleteI heard the 13 was in his sophomore year and that the last time he took the ACT he scored a 15. He will retake again soon. He needs to hit those studying guides.
ReplyDeleteAnd welcome Nooj4AU!
Looks like it, Scott:

Yes JayG....you are my favorite source for Auburn info...hence ...you are better than everyone else
ReplyDeleteDissapointed in the hotties...I only get welcomed from an anon poster...j/k...and thank you
ReplyDeleteI think Rollison is a good recruit, and I think he might be a good deal better than Cotton. But when I noticed that Oklahoma, Texas, and A&M weren't on his list I wondered if there might be elgibility issues. I think the 13 first-time score on the ACT explains why they aren't on his list. I'd like to know what his actual GPA is too. That is troublesome.
ReplyDeleteIf he gets elegible I think he could play this fall.
How rude of us...

ReplyDeleteExcellent work over the weekend. I've just read everything and got caught up. I was in the NC mountains this weekend visiting friends who don't even have a TV.
Congrats to the women's hoops team. That's great to see.
Nothing says "welcome" like a picture of a almost-nude Korean dictator.
ReplyDeletewelcome to the habotn, home of kicker on a stick.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the HABOTN, Nooj4AU.
ReplyDeleteScott - I just realized what your avatar is and ewwwww...
vlad the impaler....
ReplyDeleteWelcome Nooj4AU! There are so many newbies these days and threads get so long that it's hard to keep up with people.
ReplyDeleteEither Cotton or Rollison would be good additions. Rollison seems to be the more accurate of the two but I doubt we would have to worry about grade problems out of Cotton, plus he is the bigger, stronger athlete and seems to possess good leadership characteristics based on articles and interviews with teammates.
If Rollison's last ACT was a 15 then he might not be as big of a risk as I thought. War Eagle!!
Cotton's dad is a freaking headcase along the lines of Mitch Mustain's mother from all the meddeling stuff I've read on him.
ReplyDeleteNo thank you.
Malzahn seems to like OL that are300+ lbs! The only comment I heard about the recent OL visitor (6-4, 265lbs) was that AU was off of his list. We have another visitor this weekend Aubrey Phillips, 6-4 345lbs soft UT commit.
ReplyDeleteI doubt Cotton's dad is anywhere near the headcase of Mustain's mom.
ReplyDeleteIf Rollison commits, then I'm sure Cotton will take Auburn of the list altogether. That is if his dad hasn't done it for him yet.
ReplyDeleteRollison's GPA may be a bigger prob than his ACT. That comment about "should be on track to graduate" is not encouraging. He's only got one term left and isn't sure about graduating?
ReplyDeleteI doubt we will see Cotton at Auburn except when Ole Miss comes to town.
ReplyDeleteHey - the poster above who said Rollikson scored a 15 the last time on the ACT is correct. I just read a post confirming that. That post was in December 2008. Still a ways to go. He'll probably have only one more shot at it, and to improve 3 points when his first jump was 2 may be daunting.
ReplyDeleteHe MIGHT make it, but odds probably a bit against him.
Maybe the football team can secede from the university. Just to get some good recruits. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAubigcat,
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't bother me one bit. Cotton is a good athlete, but from the films I saw, very raw. He's got potential, but that could go either way. Losing out on Cotton will not cause me to lose any sleep. I'd take Rollison over Cotton any day based on films I have seen.
Rollison has a cannon, is acurate, has a quick release, and can also put good touch on the ball when needed. I think he's a much better QB.
Nooj - Monica, to me, is the official greeter and hence why others may not respond to you. It has become a challenge with all the "newbies"
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I am getting a kick at seeing other sites mention the HABOTN to get there information.
And people were wondering what we would do in the offseason.
there = their
ReplyDeleteDear leader ...do i get any lunch for my money...if not...you cant have my money...im hungry!rollison will qualify...i know he will...i can feel it. he will win the job this spring and take us to an undefeated season.hows that for drinkin the koolaid.
ReplyDeleteMonica is awesome. Ive always loved her comments...(been readin this blog since it started almost)..
ReplyDeleteMT I wasnt really impressed with Rollison's footwork. Actually, Clint Moseley looked better than Rollison to me. Both Rollison and Cotton are raw but only one seems to be a student-athlete. And that's the thing that gets/keeps you on the field. Either way, I wont lose sleep over either one. It would be at least 2 years before either saw the field at AU. I do hate to see our recruits beat us with rival teams and Ole Miss may be the thorn in our side for years to come.
ReplyDeleteNooj...i think you're drinking more than kool-aid! I think that's spiked Toomer's lemonade you're sippin' on! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, to go back to the days of being a newbie.
ReplyDeleteI believe the official offseason will start after spring practice. Maybe baseball can carry us a little longer. Recruiting is hot and heavy right now and spring practice should bring some good banter with everything being so "new".
Welcome, Nooj. Why did you wait so long to start posting?
ReplyDeleteRollison (if he qualifies)would be the best QB we have on our team by far. Fact is...we dont have one quality QB that is capable of leading the team. And im not sayin that to be mean..I was the Kodi burns fan club president..its just a fact ..watch his film . he is wayyyy better than any of our current QBS
ReplyDeleteJamar Travis just committed
ReplyDeleteWell, Jamar Travis out of BREWTON, committed to us.
ReplyDeleteDont know y i waited so long to post...guess i was intimidated by the supreme knowledge of the hotties!I do loveee me some Orange koolaid dont I. Its my favorite drank!
ReplyDeleteNoooj,
ReplyDeleteHow can you say that based on his film against high school teams, that he is better than guys who have faced SEC defenses? I'm not an apologist for any of the current QBs, but your argument doesn't make sense.
Please explain.
Where the heck is Brewton anyways :)?
ReplyDeleteThat's some strong koolaid there.
ReplyDeleteWhether Rollison commits/qualifies or not, I hope our QB play in the Spring is good enough so that TR isn't winning the job in the Spring... Especially since he wouldn't report until sometime this Summer and his first practice wouldn't be until this fall.
Btw, welcome to the ever-expanding HABOTN Universe.
Travis is a huge pickup for us IMO ...300 pounder...we need big boys desperatly
ReplyDeleteNoo,
ReplyDeleteWelcome the the HABOTN!!!!
"We don't just report the news we make it"
Did you watch our QBS last season.
ReplyDeleteI think he is better than our current
ReplyDeleteQBS..that better....just my opinion
I have a feeling that either Trotter or Burns will be the only two QB's playing next fall. I could be wrong, but that is my gut feeling. I just hope we don't have the Tony Franklin Project problem of which great QB should be starting.
ReplyDeleteMorning Hotties.
ReplyDeleteMorning FSJ. Are you recovering now that an Auburn Fan is running your company :).
ReplyDeleteTrotter or burns will probably be the guy, I dont care personally, just wanna see an offense myself. It has been so painful lately to watch our offense attempt to play.
ReplyDeleteYes, Nooj, I watched the pitiful QB play last year. I even commented on the pitiful QB coaching as well.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I've yet to see a frosh QB that can come in and have major impact at Auburn. Some of these guys are interesting, no doubt. But they have a long way to go to being named starter and winning SEC games.
I just heard on ESPN that CTT will be doing commentary for their show on National Signing day!
ReplyDeleteGo get 'em Tubs!
Eddie,
ReplyDeleteBe Careful what and how you ask that Question! Mon is from Brewton, "and them's fightn words pardner"
Tubs on signing day? Really?
ReplyDeleteLast time he recruited anything was 2003.
Apparently the Mountain West conference thinks they should be granted an automatic BCS berth.
ReplyDeleteThe best way to bring down the BCS is for the little guys (MWAC, WAC, MAC, CUSA, ect) to rise up.
Nooj, watch the Rollison film again and pay attention to his footwork. He's at least 2 years away from seeing the field. He might make the scout team pretty good though.
ReplyDeleteEddie I agree with the Kodi/Trotter assessment.
HOTTIES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNEWS of the Morning!
"Jamar Travis Commits to Auburn"
MillerTime,
ReplyDeleteTaking down the BCS is like taking out the Matrix.
Impossible.
agreed sensi
ReplyDeleteMaybe someone can ask Tubs why AU signed 0 offensive lineman last year. Good news on Travis, lineman on both sides are a MUST this year.
ReplyDeleteMiller,
ReplyDeleteThis years true national champion came out of the MWC. They had three teams that could have won the ACC this year, and all three could have at least challenged for the Big East. Yep, they deserve an auto bid.
Footwork does need some work...but its not like kodi has any better footwork..might be a little worse in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI never said it would work, sensi. But, so far, that's the best shot we have. Worth a try.
ReplyDeletedepressed makes a good point
ReplyDeleteAll the skill players in the world won't mean jack if the line isn't strong and deep.
Auburn is neither right now.
i look forward to spring practice to see what positions get filled by newcomers...or last years class even.
ReplyDeleteShould be an interesting Spring as far as position battles are concerned. I don't expect them all to decided until 2-a-days though.
ReplyDeleteI have pretty good footwork. I think I will try out for QB this year.
ReplyDeleteDon't underestimate what good coaching for QBs can do. No QB on the Auburn roster has seen any for some time, as our last Off coach (Borges) had Cox and treated Kodi like a RB. All the exagerated criticisms of Kodi (a) do not take the absence of coaching into account and (b) reflect the tired old mindset of saddling the QB with all the problems of the team during a losing season.
ReplyDeleteAuburn fans should know better, at least those who watched and learned from the pre-2004 vs. 2004 Jason Campbell years.
Didn't CGM recruit Kodi pretty heavily at Arky? I'd think that gives him KB a head start in the spring QB battle.
ReplyDeleteThey should ask Tuberville what is the benefit of signing 7 2* like he did last year.
ReplyDeleteAuburn signed 2 OL last year. Two very good ones. The problem was neither got in school.
ReplyDeleteWere Thorpe and Spencer "Wrong-way" Pybus two stars? If so, he got some contributors out of two star athletes, so that is something. Maybe if he had recruited exclusively two star athletes, we would have had a better freshman class.
ReplyDeleteAUNMobilz- I knew that and was prompting a Monica response. She must be busy this morning.
ReplyDeleteWhachoo,
ReplyDeleteBig difference is none of AU's QBs have a Caddy or Ronnie or Devon or Courtney, or Ben to work with on offense.
Y'all thought I was just running my mouth again about Travis didn't you? What I couldn't reveal was that I flew the HOTmobile to Brewton this weekend and had a lil come to Jesus meeting with Travis. And, well, you see the results. You're welcome.
ReplyDelete(Mobile, Eddie KNOWS I'm from Brewton. He's just cruisin' for a floggin'.)
I read this am that the Rollison word isn't expected until Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteAnybody hearing the same?
Off topic: Who do you think will win the Super Bowl? Please include score.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Cory- That is correct. He is wanting to let KSU know in person out of respecct when they come meet with him this week.
ReplyDeleteCards over Steelers- 27-24
ReplyDeleteWAR EAGLE JAMAL TRAVIS!
ReplyDeleteReminds be of Tommy Jackson. Anyway....
If the weather is fine - no wind or rain - AZ wins.
AZ 28
PITT 24
Steelers over Cards 33-27
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how Tyrick is "letting KSU know in person" when he's told the world he's going to Auburn on FB. Maybe they have no computers in KS.
ReplyDeletePitt - 35
ReplyDeleteCards - 14
"They didn't believe in us" can only carry you so far.
whachoo...the qb coaching was bad...but the criticisms of kodi are completly warranted imo..take the bama game..he didnt know what was goin on at all..i like the kid ...but dont think he is the answer.
ReplyDeleteAnd JG - What's it about the kod from Gordo that makes him a "trip" from your comments on Facebook?
ReplyDeleteMon, next time you fly the HOTmobile please by the Willis residence in Tuscaloosa and send my regards!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
I'll take Steelers 24-17.
ReplyDeletedid anyone else see houston's aubrey coleman stomp arizona's chase budinger in the face on saturday? guy should be banned from the game.
ReplyDeleteCards......28-17...mark it down.
ReplyDeletethere gonna suprise the worl..dansby will have a forced fumble and hood a pick six...mmmmm koolaid is sooooo good.
Michael: Thorpe was a heralded recruit. I don't know how many *s he had but it was more than two.
ReplyDeleteSensi: Auburn's overall offensive production in 2004 obviously had much to do with Caddy and Ronnie. But that does not mean that Campbell did not show dramatic improvement as a QB in 2004 under Borges; he did.
And I disagree that was attributable to just Caddy and Roonie. I think you can make a much better case for the opposite, as the threat of a passing game kept the defenses from focuing exclusively on our run game in the years prior (and particularly under the NALLSMINGER nightmare).
Gnome - While I appreciate your sentiment, the HOTmobile can only be used acts of good*. Also, Emily Post would not approve.
ReplyDelete*good as defined by Monica
Anon, I remember Jermaine Johnson but excluded him when he signed with Miami. Who was the other o-lineman?
ReplyDeleteOther lineman was freddie smooth...
ReplyDeleteThorpe was a 3 star...but really good imo
ReplyDeleteWhachoo - How old are you?
ReplyDeleteAuburn.sports reporting that Jamar Travis committed to AU today (4*s if that nonsense matters to anyone).
ReplyDeleteOn the lack of offensive linemen: One thing that Tubs/Nall did that was smart is take some of the defensive lineman and convert them to Offense. Judging by NFL rosters full of them, that was a pretty effective strategy.
I think t sharvan bell , harry adams and the other adams(speedsters) will crack the rotation next season. Also look for PPL to play alot... (if he stays healthy)
ReplyDeleteDo you want to know my zodiac sign too?
ReplyDeleteFreddie Smooth. He was a 300 lb. lineman from Baton Rouge. Here's the 2008 commit list:
ReplyDeletehttp://auburn.rivals.com/commitlist.asp
I seriously doubt that Rollison would be an impact player this coming season, at least I hope not. We have made that mistake with too many QBs.
ReplyDeleteLykes and savage(DL) will also be a factor
ReplyDeleteWhachoo, you are correct. I wouldn't worry too much about how many offensive linemen we have. The total number of linemen is the important thing.
ReplyDeleteI was just reading over the ESPN site and they rate Jamar Travis as one of the best commits for Auburn.
ReplyDeleteI think our team will be much improved next season
ReplyDeleteYou shoulda swung the HOTmobile into Prattville. I'da bought you a beer or 12.
ReplyDeleteThats because he is a beast...seen him play..he is a load...big motor
ReplyDeleteif the cards win, i will need some instructions on how to riot effectively. do you set the car on fire, then flip it? or is it vice versa?
ReplyDeleteI think there is no question we will be much improved. Last season we had the worst offense I can remember, and we were still in most games. If the defense doesn't regress, we should have a decent season with likely around 8 wins.
ReplyDeleteFlip it, pee on it, then set it on fire.
ReplyDeletei say 8 wins to include an iron bowl victory i will be happy....worst case i say we win 6.
ReplyDeleteGotcha, anon.I didn't include Smooth as he was classified as a d-lineman coming out of high school. The converting lineman strategy works well as long as there is adequate depth to allow time for the conversion. Injuries and non-qualifiers have taken that luxury away for the time-being in my opinion.
ReplyDeletePrattville for a beer or 12 with JZ is a good* use of the HOTmobile.
ReplyDeleteWhachoo - Sorry I asked. Didn't mean to offend you.
Luv - I've decided you're the Hottie Sociologist. That's a good thing.
JZ - That sounds like a chant from WVU.
ReplyDeleteJay, have you heard anything bout Savages (CB) rehab..will he start , also what do you think our chances are with any of the good to great recievers we are targeting...we need a few good receivers IMO.
ReplyDeleteexcellent, i had forgotten about step two.
ReplyDeleteWhachoo, Mon's been hung up on age lately.
ReplyDeleteMonica, Hottie Sociologist??? Why???
ReplyDeleteHi Hotties! I work one night shift and com back to comment explosion.
ReplyDeleteMy pick Cards 27-21
Mon: I like the idea of a HOTmobile
NOOJ: Welcome!!!
Last thought: Can you not just answer "c" and score a 15 on the ACT
Sorry about the spelling, it is hard after only 2hrs sleep
ReplyDeleteI heard this morning that bamas All world running back commit ..richardson..was either going to LSU or florida...my source says hes gonna wait till the 4th and pull the bama hat out then throw it down ...to be replaced with LSU hat
ReplyDeleteKirkpatrick to Texas also
ReplyDeleteThorpe was well thought of.
ReplyDeleteAlso, is Smooth in school or JUCO?
Also, what about the biggun that didn't qualify -- the kid who originally signed withg LSU and wore the purple suit to the presser?
He pledged to AU but didn't make the grade.
His presence would me Gynormous.
DUDE!
ReplyDeleteTaboo is on NatGeo - "Body Modifications" like neck rings, piercing and Nick Saban's HAIR.
We'll probably convert him to safety.
ReplyDeleteSorry. Couldn't resist.
