  2. I'd say this is the ultimate SAFE FOR WORK video here, homes.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I have a man crush on Coach Chiz.

    ReplyDelete
  4. no i literally can't watch videos at work. blocked with no sound. jerky i.t. dept.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Maybe James can author a workaround. He's savvy like that.

    ReplyDelete
  6. As for Leon Hart, if he wasn't good, Elton John would have never written that song about him. You know Leon was a good man. We just didn't utilize him.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Jay, what was the official reason Chris Slaughter didn't play in the Iron Bowl?

    ReplyDelete
  8. The official reason is that he had a family medical emergency.

Good video! Chiz seems very "motivated" right now. It's exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sounds like something I shouldn't try to read anything to. I am just disappointed he won't be back.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Is the audio choppy...or stuttering for everyone or just me?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Big MikeZ16, the video stuttered for me a bit at the beginning. I assumed it was due to numerous simultaneous accesses. It cleared up pretty quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Jay,

Was that interview in the dining hall?? Notice the swinging door in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jay how tall is Chiz? Where do you typically do this interviews, the coach's office or a lobby?

    ReplyDelete
  16. MAN I like Gene Chizik's attitude!!!! I do hope it translates to success on the field. But boy I like the way he's setting the bar.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anonymous11:57 AM

Steve, I'm disappointed Slaughter won't be back too. I was at the Ole Miss game and I thought he played very well.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I thought coachs had learned not to use death references after Tubs "pinebox' fiasco.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Mon--Which ones? I think the "Don't make me go all Crazy White Girl on You" has Omnica written all over it.

I'd send Jay some flair, but he won't add me as his friend. I think he's waiting for the ESPN job when he can just have "fans".

    Sniff....

    ReplyDelete
  20. AUBIGCAT--chiz is not tall. i beleive under 6 feet. will saw him at a b-ball game and said he's not nearly as big as he looks on camera

    ReplyDelete
  21. j-z ... I haven't yet received a friend request from anyone named "jz" or who has the initials jz or who identified himself as "jz from HABOTN."

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jay...look for someone with the initials JC. Just giving you a hard time. I didn't really think you were big timing me. Ha...oh wait, you weren't big timing me were you?

    ReplyDelete
  23. So RR rescheduled his visit? Hopefully that means he really wants to visit, but couldn't get it scheduled this weekend.

I think having more time to get to know him and recruit him to AU, before he visits, and having last shot at him would be a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. JGT,
Glad to see the drink machine is still in the Rain room!

    ReplyDelete
  25. There used to be a popcorn maker in there too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am on Jay's friends list. I suck up to anyone who is going to make it big time at ESPN.

As for Chizik's hieght, it shouldn't matter. What really matter is the size of his head, and I think he has most SEC coaches beat.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Opps meant Rane room

    ReplyDelete
  28. Zteve I have always been impressed and a little scared of the size oh chiz's melon

    ReplyDelete
  29. i hit play. i watched the video. it made me happy. :)

the phrase 'saturate this state'.....me likey.

    ReplyDelete
  30. FrontRim, that is okay. Hooked on phonix worked for me too.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jay GT- GREAT video work. I had to pause Elvis Costello, but it was worth it. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm glad I'm not j-z's facebook friend. I hate flair.

    What is worse:

    Trivia Girls or Kyle?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Is it just me or does CGC sometimes get a look in his eye that makes you think he shot a man in Tucson just to watch him die? I swear I think he should have a few teardrops tattooed under his eyes.

War Kicker on a Stick! Be afraid Wes Byrum, be very afraid.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous12:22 PM

Luv, remember that Tubs was so impressed by Slaughter's Ole Miss performance that he summed it up by saying it still wasn't as good as Rod Smith's.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Is there anywhere else I can find the video? It stutters so badly for me that I can't make out a word.

    Thank you for your support.

I like the fact that he always wears a starched shirt and sport coat.

Not just warmups...I guess that will come later.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous12:28 PM

While Obama is fixing college football, he should ban place kickers (not punters). You should either go for 1 from the 3 or go for 2 from the 10. Kickoffs are punts by the punter from the 40.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You gotta like a coach that might be just a little bit killya crazy

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous12:29 PM

Not to sound like a complete idiot, but what is "flair"?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Monica-
thanks for the RR visit update on last thread. I guess that means he'll (hopefully) visit the last weekend. He's supposedly going to hell, er I mean Tuscaloser next weekend

    ReplyDelete
  43. I do like a lot of what Chizik says, but I don't get my hopes up too much. I could talk the talk, but my idea of improving the team would be to pump music into practices, primarily CCR and possibly some Sammy Hagar.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Sensi - place kicker phobia?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous12:31 PM

    Luv,

    It is either THIS

    OR

    THIS

    ReplyDelete
  46. For "Flair", see the greatest movie of all time, "Office Space". Flair is cute little decorations/buttons you wear on a uniform to express your personality.

    ReplyDelete
  47. yeah, as much as i like what chiz has done so far, i keep reminding myself that we have yet to play a snap of football with chiz as h.c.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous12:31 PM

Mr. Sensible, I was kinda ticked off at the statements Tuberville made about Slaughter's performance in the press conf. after the game.

    ReplyDelete
  49. And that's why your practices would rock Zteve

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous12:32 PM

BigMike, put me in the not a fan of the current AU PK (not Morgan Hull, the other one) for reasons I cannot disclose here.

    ReplyDelete
  51. our pk has problems for sure

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous12:33 PM

"CCR and possibly some Sammy Hagar"

'Cause nothing says I understand 18-19-20 year olds like CCR and the Red Rocker.

    LOL, SteveFC! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous12:34 PM

I promise this is the last time I'll comment on this.

Fox should stick to ruining shows like 24 and American (Sham) Idol . Just leave college football to the other networks. Except CBS – you suck too!

    ReplyDelete
  54. So, should we schedule a blanket party for Wes Byrum?

We had a kicker back in the 80s that missed a field goal that would have won the Iron Bowl. He was suppose to get a scholarship but didn't because of that kick. He transferred to Florida and beat our buts with a 90 yard field goal. Okay, well, maybe it was more like 50 yards, but it was long.

The lesson is, don't give up on your kicker.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous12:35 PM

Steve, thanks for clearing that up!

PF, I don't like flair either.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous12:35 PM

Can we even call what Florida runs "The Spread" honestly?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Zteve... Good idea, but not violent enough. We need Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemey, and maybe a little NWA thrown in to mellow everybody out.

I'd like our team to be mean enough to re-enact the opening scene in The Last Boy Scout.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous12:36 PM

    SteveFC,

I'm not on the anti-Byrum train because he tanks a few kicks. It's other stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hey, this rap music would produce thugs. Listening to a little "Fortunate Son" or possibly "Heavy Metal" would develop the proper mindset.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous12:37 PM

Mr. Sensible, youtube is blocked here at work. I'll have to check those out when I get home.

    ReplyDelete
  61. By the way, I would kick any player that listened to James Taylor off the team. We have to have our standards.

    ReplyDelete
  62. You know Chiz looks like he could listen to a little Rage, or maybe Slipknot, to get a little of the crazy goin'

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sensi, is your new avatar a picture of you? Somehow I had the impression you looked just like Sly Stallone.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Always annoyed me that we didn't mind leaving games to hang on the fate of a pk. I'd much rather more 10 point + wins and less 3-2, 14-13, 9-7, 10-9 .... makes you old before your time.

    ReplyDelete
  65. We might play some John Sebastian for Coach Dye. That Welcome Back Kotter theme seems very appropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Tar - You're welcome. Time will tell.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous12:42 PM

Nah, that was Senor Cowherd. I got tired of Stallone and I can't settle on a new one.

    This is the real me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Big MikeZ16, I don't mind close games. Actually I love them, but only if they are games where I feel like we play well. I can't stand games were the winner is determined by who makes the dumbest play.

Did any of you hit the local cinemaplex to watch the BCS game in 3-D?

    ReplyDelete
  71. any hip hop music must be on, or related to songs on the Old School Hip Hop cd available at Target.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sensi, a co-worker of mine (big Gator fan) went to the 3D showing here in Knoxville. he said it was unbelievable. better than any HD he's ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous12:48 PM

    Scottie B.,

I bet it was. I got the non-HD pre-stretched version from WCOV in Montgomery on Knology here. It was fine though because I don't think HD would have improved that terrible broadcast. I've seen better on TrojanVision from Troy University.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love the Birmingham Olympics avatar Sensi. Is it true that tractor pull will be added as an olympic sport at that olympics?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous12:52 PM

If they can Free Larry Langford in time, SteveFC.

    ReplyDelete
  76. It could also be the first olympics with a contestant wearing overalls.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anonymous12:55 PM

Birmingham will NEVER host the Olympics.

    ReplyDelete
  78. LuvAU1968, you never can tell. Winston no longer sponsor's nascar. Maybe we will have the Birmingham Winston Cup Olympics. It should make for some interesting advertising.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous12:57 PM

I can't stand La La. I still can't believe he ever got elected!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I hope birmingham gets the olympics. nobody understands synchronized swimming and rowing like bama and nascar fans

    ReplyDelete
  81. I have come to the conclusion that Oklahoma is the Denver Broncos of college football. 5 losses WOW.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Zteve, I like the close games as well, especially if we're the underdog. I wouldn't mind though seeing what it's like to beat everyone by 21...just for grins.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anonymous1:12 PM

    TB,

Wouldn't the Buffalo Bills be a better comparison?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous1:12 PM

    Luv,

I now how he got elected. I'm still not sure why either.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Probably but both went to the dance and couldn't pull it off. How many times did Elway go?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anonymous1:14 PM

Four. He lost 2 and won 2 form my recollection.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous1:15 PM

Did anybody here Tim Brando on Fbomb? I just listened to it and it is funny. The "Auburn Fan" was a moron.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Well I guess the Bills are a better comparison. I thought he had lost more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  89. The Bills 5 straight losses in the super bowl were incredible. They came so dang close so many times that it was terribly sad.

I am pleased to see Chiz listing offensive linemen as a priority. I would prefer to just list linemen, because many good offensive linemen come from the defensive side of the ball.

Receivers and a QB make sense as a priority.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Bills lost 4 straight.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Some interesting football notes:

    K. Steele bama's DC is officially a Clemson Tiger now.

Ruben Randle reschedules his visit to AU. He was suppose to be here this weekend and is now scheduled for Feb 4th. FYI that is National signing day. Dont know what that means but I take it he doesnt plan on picking a school by that day. Terrell Pryor, last years #1 player, waited until well after before he decided. Petey Smith also rescheduled.

    ReplyDelete
  92. What is the story with Steele? Why is he leaving the crapstone? Is it Saban's winning personality?

    ReplyDelete
  93. I just read where signing day is Feb. 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I think it was Feb 6th last year. It's usually the first Wednesday in Feb. Everything I have seen has said Feb 4th.

Maybe one of our resident Bama fans can tell us the deal with Steele going to Clemson.

    ReplyDelete
  95. In the second part of the video when Chzik mentioned the commits that we have had in place for a long time, did it seem like he was wishing he could get away with pulling those offers? Like maybe the Tyler Knight kid from GA?

  97. In the coming months I think it will be more and more apparent to people that under Tuberville, AU really was a program in decline heading down the back side of the bell curve. We are not near so talented as some seem to think (recruiting rankings or no recruiting rankings) and we have (BIG) holes to fill along with shallow (as in if this were a pond, it wouldn't come up to your ankles) depth in a lot of spots.

I am glad Chizik is here. I dunno if he is the next great coach at AU or not, but the Tuberville error wasn't going to get any better. That's why Tubs took the money and got out.** He knew it was going to get worse before it gets better.

**JGT says Tuberville wasn't fired and could have returned. I believe that is correct.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I also have a mancrush on Monica. Wait...I mean I'm a man and I think Monica's a hottie. Is that what I mean Omnica?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Randle now scheduled to visit on a Wednesday? I guess since they don't have "recruiting weekends" after January, it doesn't matter what day of the week it is.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Yes, that is what you meant. :-)
    ha

    ReplyDelete
  101. Roman, other than the Tony Franklin Experience, I had seen consistent improvement in the program over the years under Tuberville.

But Tuberville is gone and will not be back. We need to focus on the future.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Roman = taking thoughts from my head and posting them on HABOTN

    ReplyDelete
  103. Monica agrees with Roman.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I cannot believe I missed the Office Space discussion!
    damn work.
Monie, are you still mad at me?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Anonymous2:07 PM

Yes, I'm going to have to disagree with Steve and side with Roman. I started attending games in 1999 and, except for 2004, I have seen a steady decline.

Monica, I see the male Hotties enjoy flirting with you too. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  106. Aubie's boss: Looks like you've been missing a lot of work lately.
Aubie: I wouldn't say I've been *missing* it, Bob.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Anonymous2:09 PM

Mr. Sensible, thanks for the further explanation of "flair" with the video. At first, I thought it was an episode of Friends until she flipped the guy off! LOL (I'm not much of a movie person)

    ReplyDelete
  108. I agree wholeheartedly with Roman and not just because Monica told me to. Tuberville was on cruise control ever since 2004. He did a lot of great things while at AU that benefitted the school and the program, but he simply lost the fire and wasn't willing to try and rekindle it. Plus, he would not have endorsed Kicker on a Stick.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Aubie - I don't even remember what you're talking about so that's a no. :-)

Luv - Flair is a Facebook thing.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Anonymous2:21 PM

j-z, I agree with your assessment of Tuberville.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Luv, I'd send you flair if you were on facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Anonymous2:26 PM

Thanks, j-z, I love chatting on HABOTN, but I really have no interest in Facebook or MySpace.

    ReplyDelete
  113. This is crazy. If producive at the office, I can't keep up with the witty banter and hot new news.

Hey Omnica, how about a nightly recap? Maybe Mon's Daily Top 10 things from HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  114. We could all agree to play "Things I learned today on HABOTN" at 7 pm CT.

    ReplyDelete
  115. HA @ your avatar Big Mike

    Did you say a nightcap?

I would imagine that "What I learned today on the HABOTN" would be entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Strange, I thought the Franklin Experience was all about re-kindling the fire. We started out averaging 8 wins a season under Tuberville and gradually got to 10 wins. That is progress to me.

    ReplyDelete
  117. By the way, I use to feel different because I base my life off the movie Office Space. Discussions today have made me feel much better about it.

    ReplyDelete
