Auburn adds a cornerback

Hey everyone. Our friends at AuburnSports.com are reporting that Georgia DB Taikwon Paige has received a scholarship offer and will sign with the Tigers tomorrow morning.

He wasn't recruited by many BCS-conference schools. Not sure why.

Auburn now has commitments from 21 high-school players and two junior-college guys.

  1. Blatant repost from previous thread.

Well, a great philosopher once said "I get paid for doing this"!!! Okay, maybe not a great philosopher, but it was a famous guy. Okay, I admit it, it was Steve Martin, but it is still valid.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Ron and Phred hatin on Taikwon. He does have a cool name.

    ReplyDelete
  3. move the convo over here.

    ReplyDelete
  4. i couldnt stay away.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Jay G., you going to have one thread that you revise tomorrow, or are you going to create a new thread for every signed letter? Just need to know if I need to take my Antivert in the morning for the dizziness.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Taikwon Paige was not heavily recruited because nobody could remember how to spell his first name. Is that Chinese or Japanese?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I am not hatin' on Taikwon. I like him. Ron is hatin' on Taikwon.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Kathy, I think I'm going to create one thread for confirmed signings.

I'll have another entry for Chizik's comments. I'm aiming to live blog that. I think it begins at 2 p.m. CST.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sorry Phred, when you started taking away his stars, I thought you didn't think he deserve them. Glad you like TP!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I love how everyone thinks they can assess how good a high school football player is better than both the coaching staff and Rivals. If player gets 4 stars from rivals or scout, and our coaching staff believes he can play. I'm going to believe he can play ball until I see otherwise on Auburns football team. Both of those sources have seen alot of tape, and talked to alot of coaches and such. Lets trust them.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Jay G, what time are you heading over to Auburn tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I WAS giving grief to Mon to which she replied "you're a meanie." But I WAS NOT hatin' me some Taikwon.

    ReplyDelete
  13. SteveFC,
I like the wacky fonts. Reminds me of the artist formerly known as Prince. Is that where you are headed with this?
    In my opinion,
    nothing compares 2 u

    ReplyDelete
  14. Taikwon Paige should end up being good. As I understand it, he is the number one player in the nation coming out of highschool that is named Taikwon.

Also, I hear he is Sachel Paige's grandson. Oh wait, I didn't hear that, I made it up, but it sounds like a great rumor.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wakerider, watch how fast Rivals starts removing stars from Taikwon now that he has committed to Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have big goals for revolutionizing chat with creative nicknames. I also hope it will also fix the economy and cure cancer. Yes, I have big goals, but from what I understand, it is the road to success.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I did not say "you're a meanie" I said you are too mean to talk to, anymore.

Did Dansby actually call Fbaum today? If so was it late in the show? I want to hear it.

no fear everyone.. bear is in the hizzle. crutin crutin crutin. jay, i deem you need 2 weeks paid vacation after all this. haven't posted in a while, but i have tried to read as much as i could. great, great journalism, jay

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'd like to hear the Dansby call as well! I like Karlos even more now for handing it to Slimebaum.

    ReplyDelete
  20. These rivals guys ain't too bright. Check out the latest news on Auburn. I wonder who that could be about?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Don't get me wrong, I'm by no means a star hound. I don't get ridiculously excited when we get a 4 or 5 star, and I dont' assume the world is ending when we sign a 2 star. But since I don't have the time to attend the games of all of our recruits, I tend to trust that if our staff wants them, and the recruiting services are high on them, they have a real shot at being successful on the plains.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Finebaum has recordings of his show available on the net somewhere. I saw it once. I would have listened, but I had something better to do, like an elective root canal or something.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dansby called the roundtable with ian and lance. you can go to their website and listen to it mon, it was pretty good.

    roundtableradio.com

    ReplyDelete
  24. I feel the same way Steve. No Finebaum for me. Haven't listened in years, but I did read where Dansby set him straight today. Good for Karlos.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I often say stars don't matter. Now, if we signed only one and two star players, I would say it matters, but it general, I am not overly concerned. You often here of players suddenly becoming hot commodities. Did they suddenly get better? No. I suspect someone just suddenly wised up.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'll probably get over there around 9 a.m. I'm working late tonight and, really, I need to get a little sleep before this marathon.

The good news for YOU ALL is that I'll be on WMSP for two hours on Thursday and Friday breakin' all this down.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jay, don't forget to ask Chizik about how big of an idiot a coach would be to lose one of the better kickers in the SEC over a scholarship. Well, okay, maybe you could paraphrase it a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh well, I can't find the recording of it. If any of you find a link to the actual clip share it with us please.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Where can i find the Karlos, Paul Finebaum story at?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jay GT- I hate I won't be able to listen on Thursday, but I'll sure hope to be tuned in on Friday. Intelligent radio is so hard to find.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Clinton Durst is back on team. No info on scholly status. Is this old news?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good interview with Bo:

    Bo Jackson

    ReplyDelete
  33. lol @ Lemming saying AJ McCarron is another John Parker Wilson. I'm sure the mullet nation is thrilled to hear that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. bowden - I'm looking for it too

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mon-i think you have to wait until Wednesday to get today's audio. You might try this site:

    http://www.finebaum.com/audio_current.html

Sorry,I haven't learned to post a direct link yet.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I gave you the address monnie, go to the bottom left of that website and it says "what's hot from the roundtable" and you see dansby's name. just click and listen.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Monica, try this:
Go to roundtableradio.com and look for the area listed "What's Hot From The Roundtable" then click on Arizona Cardinal Karlos Dansby.

    ReplyDelete
  38. From up this way....

    Dre= Bama
    KK= Clemson or AU, IMO

    ReplyDelete
  39. it wasn't on finebaum's show, finebaum was a guest on lance and ian's show.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks for the link, Barkley!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I wish Dre would go play for Muschamp.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Mon this is what Dansby said:

    - he could have said Auburn, or Woodlawn High when he was introduced
    - chose to say Woodlawn to inspire the kids from where he's from
    - said he has nothing but love for Auburn
    - said if it wasn't for Woodlawn, he wouldn't have gotten to AU in the first place
    - said he wanted to "give back" to the community where he's from
    - said in future opportunities, he will alternate between saying Auburn and Woodlawn

    ReplyDelete
  43. wtc, to post that as a link, all you got to do is this.

    <a href="http://www.finebaum.com/audio_current.html">link</a>

    ReplyDelete
  44. Has anybody read where Cotton is going to land?

Also I read where Coleman will sign in the am tomorrow so I am assuming Uncle AC told him to settle down.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mon-Is that a compliment for AJ or a dig?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Kathy-
Thanks for the Bo interview link. That was great!

    ReplyDelete
  50. The naked lady threw me off, but I finally found it and it was a pleasure hearing Fbaum sound so ill at ease.

    ReplyDelete
  51. So has Aubie joined FB or not?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ummm, did someone say naked lady?

    ReplyDelete
  53. The naked lady got me off for a minute too Mon.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, I guess I must come out with my official position on naked ladies. I am for it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. wtc - Lemming was just stating it as a fact. Fbaum meant it as a dig at JPW.

Thanks hotties for the group effort at getting me to the Dansby interview. I really like him.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Half naked lady really. There are some rather interesting photos on the roundtable site.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I still haven't heard Tubs on that Miami station. Did I miss him?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hey GA you were diggin my music, huh?

Barkley - ya perv - I take it this means you haven't found a new girlfriend.

    Steve - that's a real shocker

    ReplyDelete
  59. THT, liked that he said coaching change was a great hire!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anyone think that UA or UGA will end up with Bobby Knightmare as coach?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I hate that Roundtable. I hate what a bunch of freakin hypocrites they are staring King Hypocrite Mr. Sara Evans.

    ReplyDelete
  62. barkley. they said next, but meant coming up in 3 segments...still hasn't come on yet.

    ReplyDelete
  63. HAHA You are correct, Mon.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Good Morning Hotties!!! Just thought I'd get that out of the way so tomorrow I can go right into 'cruit talkin. :)

Here is my Toomer's lemon-aide inducted assessment of all of our goings on:

Last year was an anomoly! Throw it out of the books. Our OL didnt really forget how to play football. Our roster of OL is full of incoming SOs and JRs. If we dont get another OL commit in this class it will be fine and we will have our pick of who we want next year since bama is taking 6-7 this year.

Our DBs were mostly young but many got PT. Taikwon should provide some immediate veteran leadership and help.

Our LB corp should be fine with the incoming help and some coaching up.

WRs are serviceable. Malzahn's system should make them seem great next year.

We got a ton of RBs. That should be an interesting development. A good problem to have. lol Just trying to keep the Franklin reference streak alive

DL gets some good young talent and some veteran help with Fairley. If we stay away from the injury bug, we should be fine here.

QBs should be fine depending on how they respond to coaching. We are set for the next 3 years with or without Tyrik.

All in all, this recruiting class is just gravy. We already have the meat and potatos! How's that for homerism?

    ReplyDelete
  65. KY lost their 3rd straight to Miss State

    ReplyDelete
  66. they are fake; I don't give a hoot about fake, except for our good friend FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  67. BigCat, where have you been all night? I needed your optimism!

    ReplyDelete
  68. "WRs are serviceable" lol I like it, BigCat.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I loved the Bo interview also

"I just let Charles be Charles"

    ReplyDelete
  70. What else can you do with Charles?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jay with all these RB commitments and possible commits (Aycock.Oku). Do you think current staff thinks all our RB's suck.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Y'all are missing the Caribbean World Series: Mexico vs Venezuela

    ReplyDelete
  73. I like the Paige pick up, he was big-time coming out of high school and is still a player. Could take Powers spot right off the bat.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Watching Independence Day Monica, waiting on Leverage.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Has Emmitt Smith announced his decision yet?

    ReplyDelete
  76. how many of you saw the half naked girl with the auburn stuff on. on the roundtableradio

    ReplyDelete
  77. Good stuff Big Cat.

    ReplyDelete
  78. the half naked pics offended me..

    ReplyDelete
  79. Kathy - what is leverage?

    ReplyDelete
  80. AUBigCat, we have the makings for a decent team next season. The problem is, the rest of the west, other than Mississippi State, have the makings of decent teams. This next season will likely be the most competitive the SEC West has ever been. I expect LSU to be improved. I suspect Arkansas will be the most improved. Ole Miss will be tough and legit candidates to win the west. Bama should be pretty solid, although I don't think they will be the clear leader. It is going to be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Jet all RB's will commit to AU.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yes, he wants to sit on the other side of Hannah Storm next season, Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  83. cleverage without the c?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous8:42 PM

Will Aaron Savage be rehabbed from the knee surgery? If so, we are good at CB.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Steve where is that funky key to make registered symbol?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Steve I think Ole Miss will be favored to win west next year. I forget who was favored this year.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Hello Hotties!! Had the Free Grand Slam @ dennys today....felt like there was a brick in my belly all day! i have been glued to wnsp (mobile) all day....bunch of bama homers. give me a couple to catch up.

    ReplyDelete
  88. My guess is the weak spot on defense may end up being the linebackers. I like our secondary, and the line should be pretty solid.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Slim,

    Were they crowded?

I bet there was a line out the door..

    ReplyDelete
  90. To make a ® just type &reg and add a semi-colon.

    ReplyDelete

Is Demond Washington set at corner? Or does he want to be at RB also?

    ReplyDelete
  99. How about now Aubie?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Monica, the first symbols is shift 7.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Kat it was a looong day at the office! lol

Steve I agree with your assessment of the west. I am still worried about MSU. This class they are bring in is nice and fast! The West will come down to who has the best coaching. AU and MSU are the two question marks.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Anonymous8:51 PM

    Mon...It is the "and" symbol..or "shift-7"

    ReplyDelete
  103. LOL

y'all are making me feel very blonde!!!!!!

the letter that looks like a G - what is IT??????????????

    ReplyDelete
  104. Fsj- Yeah real busy...first time I ever waited for a table. Fifteen minutes. Got my Slam for Slim quick though. Gotta hear Dansby rip Fartbaum a new one.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Mato those shirts are sacred. Im telling you, once you have one your in.

    ReplyDelete
  106. So that means Frank Gore and Willis McGahee are coming too?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Ummm, it is what is technically referred to as a lower case G.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Atlantatiger...Andy Bitter is a pretty good blogger. He's not as prolific as JGT yet but he if he keeps it up, he'll have his own following soon.

    ReplyDelete
  109. hmmmmm....I'll have to check out cleverage, Kathy.

Mate - Scottie has some L, XL and 2XL's left I do believe

    ReplyDelete
  110. Aubrey Phillips to FSU. Goddaangit.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Im saying we do have a suprise to tomorrow. Im just not sure who it is. I think Tana P is not a lost cause. On the running backs I think we land Oku. I really think he had a nice time in Auburn and that kid with Orange hair and the Auburn Bball game last saturday made a hell of a impression.

    ReplyDelete
  112. PLEASE GET ME SOME OL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  113. ampersand. seriously? someone has hacked monicas account. I refuse to believe she doesn't know what an ampersand is.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Monica, the first character is called an ampersand. Then it is just "reg" as in registered trademark, followed by a semi-colon, which is the result of a comma getting it on with a colon.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Anonymous8:57 PM

Big Cat/Steve....Sometimes a team lacks chemistry for unexplanable reasons. Well...Franklin may have been one reason. I agree that our OL presently on campus are better than what we saw this past season.

Now if we can just finally coach up the WRs. If not, hopefully CGM's playbook can get even our WRs open deep.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Monica, copy this "& r e g ;" and take out the spaces and you will get ®.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Well, I'm too stupid to live.

    ReplyDelete
  118. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  119. PRAISE THE LOWERED!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Almost, you just need a semi-colon ";" instead of a colon ":".

    ReplyDelete
  121. Mon- you make me laugh!!! Brilliant minds occasionally have hiccoughs

    ReplyDelete
  122. Omnica, you is healed!!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. How is FSU pulling this off?
    Greg Reid, Aubrey Phillips...damn damn..
    BREAKING NEWS:
Aubrey announced at olive branch high school bball game at halftime

    ReplyDelete
  124. Phillips to FSU really?

    ReplyDelete
  125. This stuff is very easy once you know how to do it. If you don't, it seems impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  126. LMAO SNORT! man! that was frustrating! Thank you for your patience, Steve.

    ReplyDelete
  127. jhag-
    it's $$$$$$$$$$$$ (that's 3 keys down from the "shift 7", aka ampersand)

    ReplyDelete
  128. Tar - Greg just said, "____ is having ice cream again"

    ReplyDelete
  129. How are we supposed to get excited about tomorrow if these prospects keep signing with other schools tonight?????

    ReplyDelete
  130. There you go Ron, Phillips said "No".

    ReplyDelete
  131. hag I take it you're shocked

    ReplyDelete
  132. Another way to do this is just to copy and paste the html name or html number columns from this table.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Yep, Monica, we're talking a HUGE bowl to make up for last night's ice cream drought.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Don't worry, kids.

Tracy Rocker is going to sign with us tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Our O-line class is screwed

    ReplyDelete
  136. Who was the school who had 9 decommits? Cuse? Anyway, Lemming advocates a Sept 1 sign date and letting players out of their LOI only if the head coach leaves.

    ReplyDelete
  137. You are welcome Monica.

    ReplyDelete
  138. oooo thanks for the cool table, Steve

    ReplyDelete
  139. Deja Vu

Not getting Phillips is a huge blow. Two years in a row to sign a true OT. That will catch up with us.

    ReplyDelete
  140. jhag, I am not overly concerned with the offensive line. Defensive guys will move over if need be.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I am...Aubrey Phillips visits Auburn, says hes gonna suprise people after that...damn kids

    ReplyDelete
  142. Steve i think we are set on the d-line...it's the o-line we need in most peoples eyes, peoples let me know if im wrong

    ReplyDelete
  143. Anonymous9:06 PM

    Well.....that's it for OL.

THINK WRs.......just like when the plane has landed in Colorado and realize that there is no snow and it is time to THINK SNOW

    ReplyDelete
  144. ahhhh, is he the one that told us to expect a shocker??

    ReplyDelete
  145. unfortunately i meant two years in a row NOT to sign a true OT

    ReplyDelete
  146. lol @ damn kids - now that's funny, Mr Hag

    ReplyDelete
  147. Well looks like this class hasnt turned out quite yet. Why??? Dont these kids understand they come to auburn they play quickly. Rueban Randle will not sign tomorow either. Deangelo Benton committed AGAIN...so RR is pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I am going to be away from computer tomorrow. Is there any way I can get updates on commitments sent to my cell phone by one of the recruiting sites. Or Twitter .

    ReplyDelete
  149. If you guys are taking orders, no shockers for me tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  150. 44 - Jay twitter's some, but I'm not sure how much. I'll send you updates if you want me to.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Too late, Will. Your order has been placed.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Well, what you say we get Durst to put on 150 more pounds and see how he does playing on the line?

    ReplyDelete
  153. We always get out hopes up to to high fellow tigers.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Dang...just a few mins too late. How much do I owe? What's the going rate on shockers?

    ReplyDelete
  155. B.Matthews talked to Bates who talked to Phillips. Said he did not commit at halftime. Bates didn't know who Phillips would sign with.

    ReplyDelete
  156. What about KeKe Carrier? She could fill in on O-line.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Thanks Monica I don't want to trouble you. I will trouble one of my peeps I don't like so well. But thanks anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Look, people! Get hold of yourselves! Take deep, soothing breaths and Let It Be

    ReplyDelete
  159. jhag where are you getting your info from?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Phred, that sounds like sound first, I mean fourth or fifth hand reporting:)

    ReplyDelete
  161. Anonymous9:12 PM

We are Ok with OL this coming and next season, then the cupboard is bare. We needed more OL recuits this session.

    ReplyDelete
  162. THERE IS HOPE! my source that goes to FSU told me this...my sincere appologies if I am wrong but i think it's true.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Still hope Phred. We need an OT.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Steve - it's what B. Matthews typed with his fingers on the bunker.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Mon- better than a deep breath is the hot Ghiardelli chocolate sauce on my ice cream.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Night hotties ya'll have fun tomorrow. May we get everyone we need.

    ReplyDelete
  167. This my buddy said this stuff is making me too nervous. I'm just ready for tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Hoopie,

    Who plays RT next season?

    ReplyDelete
  169. TarHeel ... may I suggest a batch of Ghiardelli brownies to accompany your ice cream and syrup?

    ReplyDelete
  170. Tar - for my desert i had organic ricotta cheese, organic blueberries, organic honey and raw pecans!

    ReplyDelete
  171. A few recruits one way or the other won't make a huge impact. We will be fine regardless. I expect to see a significantly improved Auburn team next season, regardless. The only concern is that I also see our level of competition increasing.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Let's sign Bo to play RT. He hasn't used up any of his OL eligibility. He's just about got the weight up to speed.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Of course, on sweep rights, he'll be heading left

    ReplyDelete
  174. We better sign a huge OL class next year.... and that's all I gots to say about that.

    Oh... and LB's too...

    ReplyDelete
  175. we were 5-7 people 5-7..and ranked 13th by scout...all new coaches...damn good work.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Monica ... what happened?

You taping another episode of Survivorwoman with that diet?

    ReplyDelete
  177. "A few recruits one way or the other won't make a huge impact."

    Julio Jones disagrees.

    ReplyDelete
  178. we have five ol spots this year and two for next year.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Ron ... Julio was not a recruit; he was an acquisition.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Miller that is how the ol staff did it five one year and two the next no matter what

    ReplyDelete
  181. ron mexico, you took the words right off of my keyboard.

tim tebow also might disagree a

    ReplyDelete
