Auburn def. Ole Miss (women), 72-65.

Hey everyone. Your No. 6 Auburn Tigers are playing host to Ole Miss tonight in Beard-Eaves.

  • FINAL
    Auburn wins, 72-65

  • FOURTH TO @ 4:09, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 64-61. The Tigers still making careless mistakes on both ends of the floor. I don't see much intensity.

  • THIRD TO @ 6:22, 2nd half (media timeout)
Game tied at 59. Auburn built a 12-point lead, lost it in a span of three minutes. Ole Miss has hit four consecutive shots from the perimeter. That'll change a game quickly.

  • SECOND TO @ 12:33, 2nd half (Ole Miss timeout)
Auburn leads, 51-43. The Tigers are on a 14-3 run right now: a pair of threes from Alli Smalley and some great passes from Whitney Boddie. Ole Miss is getting worked on the boards, too.

  • FIRST TO @ 15:39, 2nd half (media timeout)
Ole Miss leads, 40-37. It's a sluggish game. Sloppy game. Auburn will get beat playing like this.

  • HALFTIME: Auburn 30, Ole Miss 29.

  7. I need to figure out if I'll be at A-Day, but I support any HABOTN get-together.

  8. Great job on the Roundtable today. You seem like a natural. Did Kyle call in today? If so, I missed it.

  9. You do realize that I've got lots of work to do and am having trouble doing it because you are live blogging AU bball updates?

I'm going to have to try methadone.

  10. Smalley hit back-to-back threes ... Auburn now leads 47-43.

  22. Mac, can't you access that bio from any Rivals.com portal?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jay,

Does this look like a SEC champ team? Sometimes they are unstoppable (Tennessee) and sometimes sloppy (tonight). This lack of consistency makes me nervous.

There are 3 teams with 1 loss, right?

    ReplyDelete
  24. come on ladies!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. How good is this team? Do they have what it takes to win out, take the SEC, and a 1 or 2 seed?If so, do they go deep in the tourney?

    ReplyDelete
  26. AU wins, 72-65.

    Team now 22-1, 7-1.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's a win; therefore it's a GREAT WIN!!!

Way to go AU Ladies. War Eagle!!!

JGT - as always, you da man!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Whew! Glad we didn't lose to Ole Piss!

    ReplyDelete
  29. also, i think they go deep in the tourney.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anyways back to football...

    ReplyDelete
  31. nice. just what i like seeing....auburn victories. wde!

    thanks JGT.

  32. Bama is expanding their stadium...omg

    ReplyDelete
  33. Auburn is a tough team to assess in the post-season.

Three great starters. Two good starters. One reliable reserve.

If this team gets tired or hurt, that's a wrap. Fortner used some of her reserves tonight in an effort to limit minutes for some main players.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hey jhag, news flash ...

General R.E. Lee has surrendered at Appamattox Court House. Civil War has ended.

    More to come.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The University of Alabama will ask the UA System Board of Trustees this week for final approval to begin $80.6 million construction on the south end zone of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The project will enclose the stadium, adding more than 9,000 seats to bring the capacity to more than 101,000 in time for the 2010 football season. The south end zone expansion will mirror recent north end zone expansion, with video scoreboards in the corners of the end zones.

    shoot me now

  36. Sorry Jay, I usually disregaurd Bama stuff so i'm the last on the earth to hear about this so what...i do live in Guam okay

    ReplyDelete
  37. Say hello to the snakes!

    ReplyDelete
  38. wait your telling me the civil war is over? The south has lost?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Don't worry jhag, the South got it's revenge by dominating the BCS.

    ReplyDelete
  40. What's all this talk about silver walls?

    ReplyDelete
  41. S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C! total domination.

    ReplyDelete
  42. jhag...

Saban's $4 million a year has been a great investment. No way we are expanding if Shula were still the coach.

    ReplyDelete
  43. BDS expanding to over 100k? never going back. yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Next time AU goes to tuscaloosa they will have 101k there

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous8:33 PM

    Yah! for the women!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yep..It will be ready for 2010. We open the season with Penn State.

Hopefully JoePa will still be around.

    ReplyDelete
  47. wow that is going to be insane

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous8:35 PM

Thanks for blogging the game Jay..I can't tell you how great it is to be able to keep up with ALL AU sports through your blog!

Also, congrats on being called "bumper music leading up to Finebaum" by that winner on the radio! You and Josh did a mighty nice job today!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous8:36 PM

Bama better schedule some more home games like Penn State to fill that stadium. No way even the Bammer nation will fill 'er up for Northern Wisconsin State.

Same can be said for Auburn as well.

    ReplyDelete
  50. So, if after learning of the brilliant move by Mr. Kiffin, I wonder if Oku maybe be influenced. I mean, my advise for head coaches is the same advice I give quarterbacks: try and go out there and not do something stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sensi:

    I agree..

I hope that Bama and Auburn will continue to work on upgrading the OOC schedules...

I understand one bad game per year, but three is a little much.

    ReplyDelete
  52. On another note... Pat Summitt won her 1000th game tonight. That is very impressive..

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous8:39 PM

Yeah, I'm with you, FSJ. Three cupcakes is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anonymous8:43 PM

They gave Pat some nice gifts after the game! Thought the star on the new river walk was a groovy idea.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Well, in terms of us, Ball State is not a cupcake anymore, although they were suppose to be. It is actually one of the reasons I don't believe in scheduling cupcakes. Win and you prove nothing. Lose and the head coach is out quicker than Blackmon to the CFL.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I lost my voice cheering for the ladies tonight. Scary game but very entertaining. My son caught two towels and a hot dog. Aubie sat in both my friend's laps. We were on the floor seats. My 12-year old thinks I'm a rock star for getting seats that close lol

    ReplyDelete
  57. If your 12 year old thinks you are a rock star, you ARE a rock star. Sounds like fun, B.

    ReplyDelete
  58. What is the last word on Raven Gray? Last I heard I think he had left the team and is likely pursuing a career in the food service industry.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Cause the USC series worked out so well for us. ;-)

I think 1 not so cupcakey toward the beginning of the season and the actual cupcake for homecoming. It would be very embarassing to lose your homecoming game to let's say...someone like LaMonroe. But then the 3rd one should actually be someone good.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I got to meet BigCat tonight.

That makes eight consecutive Auburn basketball games where I have met a HOTTIE. Nice work, peops.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Zookeeper...

    Nice LaMonroe reference....

    Not.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Whatcha worried about jhag?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Zookeeper has offered her home as a broadcast hub for HABOTN Radio ... I mean The Max Roundtable.

    So generous, that gal is.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Is jhag not the best?

    ReplyDelete
  65. JG my son is pretty impressed with your work! He does some blogging on this cartoon site and now wants to meet the creator.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Monica if I can only remain a Rock Star in his eyes when he's 16!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anyways we sure do have nice depth at Runningback for the Guser.

    ReplyDelete
  68. My bad, faker. I totally forgot about that. But that was before your man, NMFS, got there so....oh. Wait a minute. Never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ummm I'm petrified of the rise of that team across the state...after hearing the stadium to 101k

    ReplyDelete
  70. Jay G...now who's being forward? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  71. LOL jhag..

Nothing to worry about at all..

    Just ask zookeeper...

    ReplyDelete
  72. I like how we have ended up so far at runningback. Add Oku to the mix and it will really look great. I am wondering if Fannin will be ready to step up and become a more consistent presence in the backfield. I am sure Tate will get his carries, but I am sure Luper/Malzahn will want to bring in some quickness too.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I am also thinking Brandon Jacobs eventually becomes a linebacker.

    ReplyDelete
  74. jhag - don't be petrified..... be Chizzed

    ReplyDelete
  75. I like the idea of Bammer Math.

    Here's one for you.

    36 - 0 = x

    Define "x".

    ReplyDelete
  76. OK. I'll go first.

x = new coach, better recruiting, more internal harmony.

    ReplyDelete
  77. x= One happy Faker..

    ReplyDelete
  78. Is that minus dumbass?

    ReplyDelete
  79. So I hear Raymond Cotton used in Wild Rebel, I do not see him beeing effective in this...any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  80. There is a Oku rumor?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oku isn't doing anything yet.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Cotton could be as effective running the ball as Tebow. He's a big strong guy.

    ReplyDelete
  83. negative any OC really...not just the slightly unstable one.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Bryce Brown's mentor is "threatening" to ship him off to the CFL because he's not afraid!

“We’re not playing around. I can promise you that. I’m not scared at all to do anything, and Bryce isn’t either. Hey, he’ll hurt your feelings. He’s not worried about your feelings. He’s worried about what’s right and what’s wrong.”

    Bryce Brown to CFL?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Why is this guy allowed to be around minors?

    ReplyDelete
  86. "he’ll hurt your feelings. He’s not worried about your feelings. He’s worried about what’s right and what’s wrong.”

Uh...anyone else fail to see how that makes sense?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Did someone just compare Raymond Cotton to The Timothy Tebow? Someone pass the Michael Phelps bong,

    ReplyDelete
  88. Running the ball behind that huge Ole Miss line...Cotton could be just as effective as Superman! Do I need to sign my name by this coment?
    ~AUBigCat

    ReplyDelete
  89. Bigcat do not do this to yourself

    ReplyDelete
  90. Hag you're on fire tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I suspect there's a new crop somewhere in British Columbia being named after Mr.Phelps

...I hate Tebow, but there's no way Cotton has the drive that kid does. Cotton doesn't seem completely insane. You have to be insane to play like Tebow does.

    ReplyDelete
  92. top 25 recruiters for 2009 Troop Taylor and Curtis not on there im sure next year will be different

    ReplyDelete
  93. Monica is this good or bad?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Monica,

That's crazy. Randy Shannon is going to regret recruiting that kid (I still hold that he's going to the U).

    ReplyDelete
  95. An Auburn blog that doesn't degrade into a pissing match is so refreshing. You are to be commended FSJ and your like.

    ReplyDelete
  96. And thus begins the portion of the evening where we debate the merits/over exposure of Tim Tebow...

    ReplyDelete
  97. What is your pic, jhag?

    Is that a shoe?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Me no likey pissing matches.

    ReplyDelete
  99. jhag - a bammer visor?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I hope Eltoro doesn't screw up Fannin's shoulder in spring ball.

    ReplyDelete
  101. jhag's grilling some jimmy choos.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Hag I think you being on fire is great.

Peter/J - He certainly seems to come with an interesting and intense entourage.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Now true I dont think anyone is quite as insane as Tebow, but Cotton is big and fast. In that OM system he will be just as effective running the ball. Especially with Patterson on one side and any one of those other 6.3 4.4/40 WRs on the other.

    ReplyDelete
  104. It's an Alabama hat burning in my firepit. Look closely at the A...not to be confused with an Atlanta Braves hat.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I walked into my closet tonight, and there were no jerseys.

    ReplyDelete
  106. bigcat,

    but can he jump pass?

    ReplyDelete
  107. no the comparison is limited to effective running behind 6-5+ 300+lb OL. On a side note, I think I could be effective under those circumstances...for about 2 plays.

    ReplyDelete
  108. YOu mean Massie at 6'8 340?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Dang it.....

Which one of you was it again that talked me into putting together my WAY too early pre-spring depth chart?

    ReplyDelete
  110. I do think Ole Miss will be a power in the SEC West for a while. Nutt is for real. Nutt with a passing game is scary. Ole Miss could be the team to beat next season in the West.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Miller, I would love to see a depth chart. I am already dreaming of next season.

    ReplyDelete
  112. almost got it finished...

took a lil longer than I expected...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Of course, if after the first game Malzahn says that he is a dumbass and tells Jay to talk to Roof because he is the smart one, I will pound my head into the closest cement wall.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Ole Miss scares me as much as bama does.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I can only take so much Tigger and Pooh for one night..

    Somebody entertain me..

    ReplyDelete
  116. Did I hear that Oku was down to us and Srycuse now?

    ReplyDelete
  117. By the way, isn't it funny when you take the actions of the Franklin Experience and apply it to different individuals? It seems even funnier if it weren't so close to reality.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I can't see Oku going to Syracuse. I am not sure where the logic would be there unless they have a school that is famous for what he is going to major in. Yes, Syracuse has had great runningbacks, but that was long ago. Now they play football in a giant jiffy pop bag. Somehow I don't see Oku going there.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I heard that to BigCat where did you hear it?

    ReplyDelete
  120. "he’ll hurt your feelings. He’s not worried about your feelings. He’s worried about what’s right and what’s wrong.”

Kristina I think this will make sense to whatever school eventually get's his commit, unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Miller I really think you're the man for the Stars vs. Production data.

    ReplyDelete
  122. jhag I heard it on the radio this evening but i didnt catch the entire conversation.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Kiffin said there was to be another surprise announcement for Tennessee, and that started an Oku to UT rumor. I think he called him during his visit to Auburn. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  124. ^^^^^^^
Bryce Brown doesn't possess a heart..in other words

    ReplyDelete
  125. Mon,
I might could be convinced to help out... but I will not go it alone

    ReplyDelete
  126. BIGCAT--it's on scout.com but i don't have a membership so i cant check it out

    ReplyDelete
  127. statguy....when did he say that?

who did Janzen Jackson sign with today?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Steve I agree with your logic but I bet Syracuse fans are saying "why go to AU they just signed 4 RBS to go with the 3 they already had"

    ReplyDelete
  129. Yeah we have signed 3 four stars...that can't help

    ReplyDelete
  130. AUBigCat, that is exactly the type of things I have read from Syracuse fans. Warning, there is a bit of childish language on this site. Apparently there are some cuse fans that aren't too bright.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I am 90% convinced Brnadon Jacobs will eventually get moved to LB... He's in as a redshirted RB in my DC though, for now...
I think Eric Smith plays a hybrid FB/RB/H-Back role (known to AU fans as the Carl Stewart role)

    ReplyDelete
  132. BTW.... this Lakers/Celtics game is a good one....

    ReplyDelete
  133. Are we forgetting John Douglas? Does he have speed to play linebacker?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Miller, if we recruit astatguy I think we have a project.

    Goodnight hotties.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I loved Carl Stewart

    ReplyDelete
  136. Fannin may end up just playing receiver, possibly slot. It does seem like we went to much for skill position players and should have chased some more big uglies.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Malzahn will use a FB...... occasionally... not often, but often enough to keep the position in play...

    ReplyDelete
  138. Carl Stewart was a great football player that didn't get the credit he deserved. They guy was a team guy, much like Heath Evans.

    ReplyDelete
  139. we have a TON of slot guys

    ReplyDelete
  140. I agree SteveFC.... my only problem with CS was that he had a tendency to run out of bounds rather than lower his shoulder and run over someone for a few extra yards.... he was too tentative

    ReplyDelete
  141. Other than Brandon Jacobs, are there any other offensive guys that might turn into linebackers?

    ReplyDelete
  142. shyeesh... we only have 11 scholly seniors this year....
but we have about 4 bazillion juniors (29 to be exact)

    ReplyDelete
  143. John Douglas has body to play LB.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Eric Smith is a big guy that is incredibly agile and light on his feet. I cant see him moving to FB. That would be such a waste. I like Jacobs as big fast RB. I'd hate to see him at LB.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Linebackers? If you count Robert Cooper... I think he inches over towards the LB spot...
other than that... not from the offensive side.
I put Dee Ford at LB and not DE.... and I listed Izauea Lanier as a DB for now...

    ReplyDelete
  146. I put Demond Washington at CB also

    ReplyDelete
  147. crap... I have this thing in an excel sheet.... you can't post excel sheets on here can you...

    hrm....

    ReplyDelete
  148. Whiteboy John Douglas 6'2 235 Fullback runs a 4.7 out of high school i don't know what he runs now..sounds like a linebacker to me

    ReplyDelete
  149. But does Douglas have that killer instinct needed for a LB?

    ReplyDelete
  150. nevermind he is staying at fullback

    ReplyDelete
  151. Hey, Miller, sorry I was away. I don't know when Kiffin said it. But the Scout board is talking about it. So Monica thinks I'm a project. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I do have four years of eligability left.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Anonymous10:14 PM

Don't know how to post a link, but here is a copy of a Miami Herald article about Kiffen claiming the Pahoki HS is biased towards UF.

    http://miamiherald.typepad.com/gator_claus...s.html#comments

    ReplyDelete
  153. Peter: So you heard what I said, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  154. WEll im out hopefully we will hear confirmation on the Oku rumor tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  155. H/o Jay G is back perhaps i stay

    ReplyDelete
  156. i only caught the last 30 minutes of the show today but the JERSEY discussion was pretty funny. PF, did you start that mess? i have a few jerseys. is that wrong??? i missed something.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I just looked at Cuse commit list. How is it that everyone and their momma can find 6-6 300+ 3* OTs but us?

    ReplyDelete
  158. So what if Pahoki leans to UF... they are IN Florida...
That kind of thing occurs all over the country... is Kiffin really that new to all of this? Is he really that naive?

    ReplyDelete
  159. It's a little scary that Oku said he wanted to see who recruited a line for him to run behind.

    ReplyDelete
  160. y'all had too much fun while I was working. I'm going to wait til I get home to read the Bryce Brown link. Sounds really BEEZAR.

    WAR EAGLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  161. Miller, I think he's very naive.

    ReplyDelete
  162. john sullen and Andre Harris are both 6'4 6'5 320+

    ReplyDelete
  163. ok... JGT, how do i get a excel sheet linked up on here for peeps to ridicule and criticize?

    ReplyDelete
  164. What is the deal with Kiffin? Would someone please get that man a passifier?

    ReplyDelete
  165. I heard that Ziemba is bulking up and hopes to have a playing weight around 300. I think we learned our lesson with svelte lineman.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Miller, my guess would be to try saving the sheest as html and they copy paste.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Mccain is a big boy..

    ReplyDelete
  168. sorry SteveFC, that just went over my head.... I dont got a clue how to do that...

    ReplyDelete
  169. Geeze, I type like poop. I would try saving the sheet as html and then doing a copy paste.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Do file save as and in the dialog you can likely save it to different file types. Select html. Once the html file is created, open it in your web browser and then select what you want to post.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Anonymous10:33 PM

Kiffen claims that the kid's family faxed the commitment letter from somewhere other than the HS b/c the HS would purposely botch faxing a letter to UT.

    Is it paranoid or true?

    ReplyDelete
  172. I heard one of our coaches on a radio talk show say that McCain has a lot of physical talent, and could emerge as an outstanding lineman. He said sometimes it just takes a while to "click" with some kids. (I think he meant to get serious and develop a work ethic).

    ReplyDelete
  173. Jay, do you foresee doing any player interviews in the off season? Intervies with guys like Todd, Durst, Fannin and such might be interesting. I would like an update on Todd's arm. There has to be some other questions that could be asked, like if you were a Spice girl, which one would you be, or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I wonder how Chaz is doing

    ReplyDelete
  175. Did anyone hear if Spence McCracken went to the private school in Mobile. He was a high school teammate of mine. I taught him everything he knows about running over people.

    ReplyDelete
  176. The doctors say Chaz will be pain free for the rest of his life, but can't play football any more.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Last I read, Chaz had surgery that went well and is expected to fully recover and not have chronic pain from his injury. I also think he ruled out playing football again. I am just glad to hear he is doing well.

    ReplyDelete
  178. "There has to be some other questions that could be asked, like if you were a Spice girl, which one would you be, or something like that."

My question to you.. Why the hell does this intrest you?

    ReplyDelete
  179. Did anyone post that Tony Franklin has been name OC at MTSU?

    ReplyDelete
  180. Probably for the exact same reason it interests you.

    ReplyDelete
  181. asta, I only head that Franklin was a candidate at MTSU. I don't know if he actually got the job.

    ReplyDelete
  182. It doesn't at all, imagining auburn football players as spice girls? what in the world

    ReplyDelete
  183. Ah, found it. Franklin did land at MTSU. Considering how things went at Auburn, I think he did good to land at MTSU. They field some competitive football teams, although that city stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Anonymous10:43 PM

Easy jhag....Steve doesn't serious want to know which Spice girl.

On the other hand, I'm CONCERNED about any players that DO want to be a Spice Girl.

    ReplyDelete
