Post No. 1,023
Hey everyone. Thanks for reading yesterday's recruiting coverage. We received a ton of hits, getting February off to a roaring start.
I think I'm going to start posting our monthly numbers so you can see how things are going. This enterprise is as much you as it is me -- since I'd be writing to nobody if you all didn't talk about the HABOTN out and about.
If you think I'm wrong, look through the archives and see how many posts had ZERO comments back in the day.
RECRUITING CHATTER
Here are a few fairly random things I'm noticing...
- One of the HOTTIES passed along an interesting article form the Tampa Trib yesterday about Dontae Aycock. He was in Auburn yesterday for a "secret" visit. Though the story says Aycock is committed to Georgia Tech, the source is a high-school assistant coach. Auburn wants Aycock as a tailback. Tech wants him as a quarterback. The real question is: Which position does Aycock prefer?
- A trio of Auburn commitments -- LB Harris Gaston (pictured at left), CB Izauea Lanier and ATH Brandon Heavens -- took official visits to Mississippi State last weekend. Lanier and Gaston told AuburnSports.com that they're still completely faithful to the Tigers. Heavens could not be reached for comment. Are you see a recurring theme here? Heavens twice missed scheduled official visits to Auburn. I don't think he's in the Tigers' plans any longer.
I'm sure that's weird for Gaston, who played with Heavens for years at Bessemer Academy until Heavens left for Jess Lanier in 2008.
There still is talk that Bessemer Academy's featured tailback, Jeremy Cox, will accept a walk-on offer at Auburn. He would have been at least a semi-coveted prospect, but an early-season knee injury ended his year. He has a chance to be good. Just remember that former Prattville star Justin Albert, a scatback who also missed a portion of his senior season with a knee injury, spent last year rehabbing on the Plains and should be ready to go this spring. He'll have a leg up on Cox. - So how many spots does Auburn have remaining? Anecdotal evidence suggests 30 constitutes a "full" class and The Tigers currently have 25 players in the 2009 signing class. They can add up to 25 scholarship newcomers heading into two-a-days, so you can see the dilemma.
Several major recruits with Auburn scholarship papers waiting include: TB David Oku, DT Corey Gaines, WR Emory Blake, OT Aubrey Phillips, OG Johnnie Farms, LB Jonathan Atchison, LB Joel Kight, QB Raymond Cotton, CB Greg Reid and DL DeQuinta Jones (pictured at right).
Many of those guys are committed elsewhere. Still, surprises can and do occur on Signing Day. It's worthwhile to keep in mind everyone who has an offer -- particularly the guys who have made official visits. - Maybe you Rivals.com people saw this: LB Eltoro Freeman now is listed as a 3-star guy. That seems impossible to me. He was a 5-star guy once upon a time.
One.
ReplyDeleteOK, so what's the big deal about being first?
ReplyDeleteDang, Sensi, you beat me to it!
ReplyDeletemorning!
ReplyDeletejust means you aren't working, right?
ReplyDeleteI don't think the loss of Heavens should cause upheaval.
ReplyDeleteFreep ... you just got owned!
ReplyDeletein tucson news, the comcast analog feed of the last couple of minutes of the super bowl was interrupted with 30 seconds of a porn flick. unfortunately, i was at a friends house who has direct tv.
ReplyDeleteGood point about JA being ready to go - I don't think he was ever seriously considered legit by the previous staff, although I could be wrong. . .my connections with the Prattville Mafia still contend he will make some noise in his AU career. . .
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious, Tuscon. Cowherd just mentioned that in the mysterious first hour.
ReplyDeletepeople are up in arms about it this morning.
ReplyDeleteAt least if I'm gonna get owned, its by a longtime Hottie like Mr. S.
ReplyDeleteJust imagine my chagrin if some random Tim had beaten me out. . .
bring on the cruits.
ReplyDeleteI am just glad my work does not depend on the commitment of 17/18 year old kids...
ReplyDeleteI think I would go insane..
But in the end the only ones that matter are the ones who choose Auburn.
DL, in the end none of this matters until next September.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a long off-season.
True Leader.
ReplyDeleteDid we completely stop recruiting K. Kelly and B. Emory?
up in arms because they switched back to the game? or interrupted the game?
ReplyDeleteNugget, Re: Blake, it depends on if you look at Scout or Rivals. One of those sites is way off base, but I'm clueless as to which one.
ReplyDeleteI heard that on his dad's show this morning while I was scanning through radio wasteland on the way to work.
ReplyDeleteit just seems like we are not trying to get any WR. i know we have 2 commits, but are all these ATH and RBs gonna be catching the ball?
ReplyDeleteComcast has just issued this statement-
ReplyDeleteWe regret the unfortunate "wardrobe malfunctions" that occurred during last night's telecast...
TarHell makes a good point on the previous thread.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he just "committed" and there is no scholly offer. Dude has walk-on written all over him, imho.
Surprised Terry B. couldn't turn him to UNA.
AUNugget,
ReplyDeleteJust remember, Hines Ward was once a QB/RB/ATH.
It looks like Heavens will be at a JUCO next year anyway from most reports.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he and Tyrik can enjoy 12th and a half grade together
ReplyDeleteGreat point Sensi, and i am fine with all that, and if those kids come to Auburn they must be cool with it too.
ReplyDeleteJay G Tate wrote: "Heavens twice missed scheduled official visits to Auburn. I don't think he's in the Tigers' plans any longer."
ReplyDeleteWe have PLANS? What a concept!
Losing Heavens woudl be a big deal. I have seen him referred to as one of our better recruits.
ReplyDeleteSteve, I don't think that information is correct.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time that I have felt that the appearance of a recruiting class may actually be better than the arrival of said class. Even if we lose Tyrik, Heavens, and Pilson to JUCO the mere fact that they (and others) committed has done wonders for the perception of the program. We will win or lose next season based on how well the current roster adjusts to our new coaches. But the attention that this recruiting class has gotten has reminded alot of people just how great it is to be an Auburn Tiger.
ReplyDeleteJay G. Tate, did you ever get a chance to speak with Clint Moseley? im interested to see what he thinks about Tyrik.
ReplyDeleteJay what are you feelings about C. Gaines joining us on Wednesday?
ReplyDeleteI read that Kelly is solid to Oklahoma over Georgia and Alabama.
ReplyDeleteI missed Moseley. So it goes.
ReplyDeleteAs for Gaines, I couldn't get much of a read on him. It's down to Auburn and Ole Miss. I can't tell what he's thinking.
astatguy?
ReplyDeleteYou talking about Kendall Kelly?
Kelly going to Oklahoma would be a bit of a surprise.
ReplyDeletei have been getting so caught up in recruiting i kind of forget about some of the seasoned players we already have.
ReplyDeletei can't wait to see Fannin all over the field. That kid is a STUD.
yeah Steve..
ReplyDeleteI don't buy that for a minute..
'The Bull' doesn't need so stinkin' stars. he just needs a crimson jersey to hit. ;)
ReplyDeleteanyone else bummed about the Cards losing the Super Bowl? i was hoping Dansby and Hood would get one. oh, well.
SteveFC - I miss the little AU helmet over your shoulder :-(
ReplyDeleteJay I think Rivals has had Eltoro as a 3* (down from 5*) ever since he came back to us. Scout always kept him at 5*. Same with Demond Washington. Anyone who watches Eltoro's vid can clearly see that this dude is a 5* all day and hopefully twice on Saturdays.
ReplyDeleteThe main question on Kelly is whether he gets an offer from Bama. Gadsden is property of UAT, and if offered he will follow. As will these other in-state proppects who are supposedly "undecided".
ReplyDeletei was pulling for the cards. at least dansby got a pick.
ReplyDeleteSensi,
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question from the previous thread... Burgess is being brought in as an invited walk-on.
Around a year ago, when I had too much time on my hands, I did a study that analyzed Scout vs. Rivals stars ratings. Rivals always has the AU recruits with lower ratings than Scout and has the Bama recruits rated higher than Scout. So the AU-Bama argument is whether Scout is more pro AU or Rivals more Bama.
ReplyDeleteRivals consistently changed "star" ratings to be in Bama's favor. Scout doesn't change star ratings as much as Rivals and didn't have a measurable pattern.
Conclusion...Rivals is Bama biased.
Yeah Scot, right before that pick they were talking him up too. it was great to see him perform after all that accolade.
ReplyDeleteHoopie:
ReplyDeleteWe agree! We agree! We agree!
We're together on orange jerseys, and now on Scout v. Rivals.
Careful, third one means end of days.
Yes, Rivals is definitely on the grassy knoll.
ReplyDeleteI think Rivals is pretty stingy with giving starts to JUCO guys...
ReplyDelete*stars
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the Cards loss Scottie B. I really wanted Dansby and Hood to get a ring, but their defense is suspect to me. They lost that game at the line of scrimmage. Ben had time to log on and read the HABOTN before he threw some of those passes.
ReplyDeleteRivals = La Cosa Nostra = Red Elephant Club = Trilateral Commissioner = Star Chamber = Gannett Board of Directors
ReplyDeleteFunny,
ReplyDeleteIf Eltoro committed to Alabama, USC, Texas, Florida, etc...he would easily still be a five star.
Rivals is supposedly owned, or was started, by a bama grad.
ReplyDeleteYes BigCat ben made a post to the right and two to the left and then threw the td
ReplyDeletedeperessed,
ReplyDeletemy understanding after this weekend is that Kelly does indeed have a Bama offer.
That's true whocares, i've noticed that JUCO guys get no love with the stars.
ReplyDeleteSomeone asked about Mosely and what he thought of Tyrick, read where he said it was fine, he loved competing and that he would welcome a redshirt to learn the system and put on some weight. That was from Phillip Marshall, who visited him in Loxley.
ReplyDeletePat D's Wild T,
ReplyDeletethanks. thats great to hear. i like that kind of attitude. we have a few capable QBs now and he should have plenty of time get comforatble with our system, whatever that is going to be.
Kinda tired of hearing about who might be on Santa's list. Ready for Christmas morning!
ReplyDeleteAppropos of nothing, I thought this was hilarious: "This is the 'Red Panda Acrobat,' who performed at halftime. While riding a unicycle, she was kicking bowls from her feet to her head. And she'd stack 'em 12 high. It's a miracle."
ReplyDeleteLOL, kudos Jay.
and when did Tubbs become an expert on college recruiting? Almost died when I heard that ESPN promo. Maybe he's the only one that had 10 hours on his hands.
ReplyDeleteJay G. Tate wrote, "Maybe you Rivals.com people saw this: LB Eltoro Freeman now is listed as a 3-star guy. That seems impossible to me. He was a 5-star guy once upon a time."
ReplyDeleteThis lends yet evidence to my conspiracy theory that committing to Auburn hurts your Rivals ranking.
Jay,
ReplyDeleteDoes the Bill Clark story still have legs? Also, can you fill us in a little more on Justin Albert's status in terms of rehab and prospects?
Rivals was started by my friend's brother in law.(true story) Not sure where he wentto college, but i dont think it was bama. He then sold it for like 7million bucks
ReplyDeleteI maybe in the minority, but I don't buy into the Rivals hates Auburn theory and penalizes all Auburn commits. Just my 2 cents.
ReplyDeletei am getting clarification on my rivals statement...stay tuned
ReplyDeleteHarrison has an Inside Man!! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteBut really, wouldn't you all rather have your expectations tamed than get Raven Gray'd again?
I don't either Eddie...I just like stoking the whole grassy knoll movement.
ReplyDeleteRivals evil.
ReplyDeleteThose who defend it are collaborators, co-conspirators, Tories, and many other awful things.
So there.
Yeah, if you don't think Rivals is biased, then you are a bammer!
ReplyDeleteRivals was founded by Jim Heckman who attended the University of Washington He was also largely responsible for the founding of Scout.com
ReplyDeletei never have inside people. The guy I mentioned definitely started rivals, getting clarification on where he went to college, that doesn't mean whoever he sold it to isnt a bammer.probably is
ReplyDeleteAUfan. not the name i got that started rivals. Where's Will when i need him
ReplyDeleteUnmitigated evil.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm a traitor for my belief's :). Now, may I go down as a martyr also!
ReplyDeletehe did go to Auburn
ReplyDeleteEduardo, I am disappointed. I regret that you only have one life to give for Rivals.
ReplyDeleteGive him Rivals and give him death.
Or something like that.
"The Seattle PI has an article about Jim Heckman, previously founder and CEO of online sports network Rivals.com and currently chief strategy officer of Fox Interactive Media."
ReplyDelete( http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/venture/282531_vc25.html)
Look, I didn't want to tell you guys this, but you need to know: Jan Terri started Rivals.com and scout.com (and freecreditreport.com, but that is not relevant. She wrote the theme song too.) Now, she is a huge Auburn fan, but she did date Bear Bryant for awhile also.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how many contacts from each side of her life are now involved in these ventures. However, if I am reading the secret message in "Baby Blues" correctly, most of her Auburn friends work for scout, and most of her Bryant contacts work for Rivals. Mystery solved.
I just hope to haul a bunch of Rival's stars on Wednesday and being a top 15 class. That would be great when all the circumstances are considered.
ReplyDeleteHarrison ... not trying to argue just pointing out :=)
ReplyDeleteRivals started in 2001, sold to Yahoo in 2007 for $100 milllion!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's all you'll find at wikipedia
Personally, I am convinced Eltoro won't be able to play as good now that he doesn't have as many stars. Heck, give him a couple of more years and he will be down to 0 stars and sitting around nekkid eating cinnamon rolls, going me play football.
ReplyDeleteJan Terri doesn't need to sell any (more) records. She's set for life after selling Rivals.
ReplyDeleteOf course, if Rivals somehow rates our class higher, then I could be persuaded to sit down and negotiate with 'em. I'll even quit calling it the War on Terror.
ReplyDeleteYou people are crazy. Everyone knows that Rivals was started by the Knights Who say "Niiiicht."
ReplyDeleteIn order to appeas them, and to obtain stars, you must bring them a shrubbery. Apparently, Eltoro forgot about this rule (for shame).
its has to be nice shrubbery, but not too expensive.
ReplyDeleteThis is a better article on Heckman which includes the info on Scout.com ... sorry should have given it instead of the other (and I apologize for being "puter" illiterate and not knowing how to post links)
ReplyDeletehttp://davideckoff.com/2006/09/seattle-pi-jim-heckman-wheels-deals.html
Believe it or not, wikipedia may have a mistake on it. Rivals most definitely started pre 2001.
ReplyDeleteOne of Corey Gaines' BFFs emailed saying that he's not an Ole Miss commitment, so I have changed his status on yesterday's "recruit-by-recruit breakdown" thread.
ReplyDeleteI'll second michael on this one: Rivals was rolling well before 2001.
ReplyDeleteI have it on good authority that these are our new uni's for 2009
ReplyDelete--->
Wikipedia is never wrong.
Apparently he started it with 3 other guys, so he could be one of them. I am 100% sure of this guy being in on the beginning of rivals.
ReplyDeleteDamn you rivals
ReplyDeleteI don't think any recruiting service that has Alabama ranked highly is biased...
ReplyDeleteBut what do I know?
Jay G/ Michael ... according to the articles it was founded in 1998
ReplyDeleteClearly less than Jan Terri, FSJ
ReplyDeleteI agree with Eddie.
ReplyDeleteThus, monica = evil
I can live with that.
On Rivals and their 3 star rating for Eltoro Freeman, I've been told that Rivals assigns maximum 3 star ratings to all JUCO signees and prospects regardless of what their rating may have been coming out of high school. Is it true that Rivals does that? Dunno. A quick look at this listing for Alabama JUCO commitment James Carpenter would tend to show that what I was told (on an AU board by an AU supporter) concerning this supposed policy by Rivals is not based in fact.
ReplyDeleteOne would think that once you've gone from the realm of being a fan to being a business, one would leave homerism behind. Is Rivals guilty of Bammer homerism? Again, I can't say. I can say that Eltoro Freeman (and Demond Washington for that matter) do not currently sport star ratings on Rivals that correlate with their past ratings and/or current ratings on other sites.
mond, we already know you are a closet bammer, so that is to be expected.
ReplyDeleteBANHAMMMMMER!!!!!!! ^^^^^^^
ReplyDeleteMichael's just mad because I'm making him pay for updates on his wife.
ReplyDeleteOmni-Evil.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's about right.
I don't know if I agree with the capitalization of "SOMEHOW" in Adam's post. I mean, was that really a word worth emphasizing in that sentence? There were certainly more deserving words in there.
ReplyDeleteIt is that sort of capitalization misuse that can lead to getting your post erased by Mr. Jay Gee Tate.
Jeff Lebo > Bobby Knight
ReplyDeleteyou guys crack me up.
Ha'ina 'ia mai ana ka puana
ReplyDeleteIt all makes sense now. I knew that site Monica was running about my wife was run by a bammer!
ReplyDeleteWell I apologize for emphasizing the wrong words. I've been reading this blog for the past few days, and this was my first time posting. I sent Rivals an email the other day asking why it happened, and still don't have a response.
ReplyDeletewow.
ReplyDeletemonnie, you're getting paid? what's freakin' going on around here????
Jhag ...
ReplyDeleteI've defended Lebo as much as anyone, but I'm warming (a little) to the idea of change. But if the idea of change is Knight, then count me in for a lifetime contract for Lebo.
I don't want Knight coaching my son, or coaching at the university I love. I like him where he is right now ... spouting off on ESPN, where I think he does a good job.
I am open-minded as to other candidates.
UAT JC recruit Carpenter boasts some of the same offering company used by the Bammers to castigate Auburn recruits. Just sayin' (that Bammers are tools generally, other than FSU).
ReplyDeleteAdam,
ReplyDeleteYou might want to delete the post with the potty words in it.
Just a suggestion from a guy in a tiger costume wearing an orange jersey.
Thumbs up to Tracy Rocker on his ability to confuse Corey Gaines. Now if he can just confuse some offensive lines, we got something.
ReplyDeleteObviously, Adam doesn't know anything about you michael.
ReplyDeleteI suspect Rocker used the Jedi mind trick. It is great for recruiting and picking up women.
ReplyDeleteAdam - this is at least a PG-13 blog and that's some R language, shugah.
ReplyDeleteHey Scottie B. :-)
Adam had his post forcefully removed. We don't cuss here.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that, peeps.
Rivals love, and now Aubie's decked out in an orange jersey and blue pants.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the Tylenol?
No need to apologize, Jay G.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay GT!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jay. I am glad to see this place won't allow such childish language.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else already deleted it. Oh well. I figured it would be censored if I couldn't say it. And you're right I don't know anything about michael. Did anyone get the point of what I was saying? We went from 23 commits with a score of 1413, to 25 commits with a score of 1397. Why?
ReplyDeleteAdam getting loads of grief for a capitalization indiscretion in his FIRST HABOTN POST is absolutely PERFECT.
ReplyDeleteWell DONE, Michael. I mean "done" (no caps).
Shocked and awed.
ReplyDeleteAdam,
ReplyDeleteI can't answer your question because I pay ZERO attention to the MRNC.
Michael,
I was not an English major; please feel free to correct any inappropriate emphasis in the above comment.
Adam, slowly step away from the keyboard ... and remain patient while the Rivals/recruiting fixation intervention team arrives.
ReplyDeleteTHT - YoUr use of capitalization WAS perfect.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody seen or read anything on Nick Fairley. I was told that Willis is pushing him hard and wants him badly for the tiders. Saban must have told him he had to deliver somebody or off with his head. I was told that Nick visit tuskaloser this weekend? For what is worth Willis says he is the real deal player.
ReplyDeleteTigerCowboy - is there too much mercury in those fish? I thought Fairley had signed a LOI. Did it void because he did not yet enroll?
ReplyDeleteWho is Willis?
ReplyDeleteLOL Good one, michael.
ReplyDeleteI've got an extra pair of 3D glasses if anyone needs them for Chuck tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about the semantics on Fairley. Since he didn't qualify, how long does that LOI bind him to Auburn? I don't know.
ReplyDeleteNon-binding because he could not enroll. He will have to re-sign and will count toward this signing class.
ReplyDeleteJet...
ReplyDeleteJust reading the tea leaves...I think Mike Anderson will be the next Bama basketball coach.
That leaves Grant...Will that be ok for you?
There are only 2 times you can sign LOI. JUCO Grads and Feb 4. He did not qualify because he still has work to do. It would be interesting to know if he was in T-town or not.
ReplyDeleteWell, now I've got to start worrying about Fairley going to the dark side? I guess we'll know something's up if his Rivals rating starts inexplicably climbing.
ReplyDeleteOne other thing..is mercury bad or something and should I not let my kids play with it in their hands?
ReplyDeleteFSJ ...
ReplyDeleteI'd cut that deal now ... but I think Grant is going to UGA.
The fundamental question: Is Auburn prepared to pay market value for a top coach?
Some will say look what we did in football, but I don't think that's a comparison point in terms of attracting a good staff to bolster the credentials of the new coach.
WAIT A MINUTE ... signing day is Wednesday. We can talk about this later.
definitely should play with Hg, it makes a cool sound when you splash it around
ReplyDeleteTar Heel, you one of dem Scientologists?
ReplyDeleteRe: Signing day,
ReplyDeleteThe Daily News asks her for the dope. She says, "Man, the dope's that there's still hope."
I'm sorry, I'm having uncontrollable loose associations with song lyrics today.
my router died so i wasn't getting the internet for what seemed an eternity. started shaking towards the end. now i'm back
ReplyDeleteJet- that would be a big no.
ReplyDeletePhelps caught smoking drugs...
ReplyDeleteBummer.
Kid can still swim though!
Also a shame that Eltoro is no longer any good according to Rivals. GUess they can't risk AU's class breaking the top 10 during a coaching change offseason, so easiest thing to do is drop the value of our JUCO commits. Typical.
so Fairley has to re-sign on Feb 4th, or whenever he chooses?
ReplyDeleteJay GT- what's the plot for Part II?
ReplyDeleteWow, we're really going to stink in the next few years. PMarsh graded the commits thus far and it's not very pretty.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone besides me watch Burn Notice?
ReplyDeleteGet a good running start and hurl myself at the wall
ReplyDeleteGoing to hurl myself against the wall
'Cause I'd rather feel bad than feel nothing at all
And it ain't that pretty at all
i saw pmarsh's grades. Weird post I thought.
ReplyDeletePlease share a link for the PMarsh grades.
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to find it.
I use Rivals for info. Their star ratings mean zip to me. Also, where our recruiting class is ranked at the end of it means zip to me. Maybe that's why I don't have such an issue with them. It's just another source of info for my recruiting obsession.
ReplyDeleteThat's just me.
PMarsh
ReplyDeleteI think Bama should go after Knight. We need more basketball drama in Alabama snd Barkley's having to carry the load alone.
ReplyDeleteScottie B - I'm sporting my T today. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to see bama hire Bobby Knight.
ReplyDeleteHOTTIE on line. Ten Hut!
ReplyDeleteArticle in the AJC today about a Knight interest at UGA.
ReplyDeleteThe PMarsh grades are weighted by signing probability. Net - the jury's still out and the grades are preliminary.
ReplyDeleteI'd say Phillip's assessment is fair ... I might give a little better grade at QB, but otherwise, it's fine. We have the upward mobility of some fish still available to us.
ReplyDeleteOne of the UGA players was quoted as saying the he'd love to play for Knight as long as he doesn't hit me........
ReplyDeleteYa never know
j-z
ReplyDeleteBurn Notice is great
Bobby Knight and Nick Saban coaching at same school= nuclear explosion. Would love to see Knight toss little Nicky across the court instead of a chair. Fun for the whole family.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia is probably drilling holes in the court to bolt down the chairs as we speak...
ReplyDeleteMonica ... I'm with you.
ReplyDeleteKnight to UAT must happen.
Knight, Saban ... maybe they could hire the Iranian scuzzball dictator to be the baseball coach, or Al Franken.
athens,ga vs. tuscaloosa is no comparison. Knight has a real chance to be UGA's next coach
ReplyDeleteDon't kid yourselves. That hire would move Bama even further ahead of Auburn.
ReplyDeleteSaban + Knight at UA=the baddest martha fockers in coaching are at one school and it ain't yours.
Of course, I don't think this will ever happen.
LOL @ Josh saying if all the meda/"professional people" hate your guts you MUST deserve to be hated. This can only mean all media also deserve to be hated, right?
ReplyDeleteCobra - Don't kid YOURself. He won't last anywhere very long. It would be worth seeing them "move ahead" of us. As a matter of fact it would probably be good for us.
ReplyDeleteJet..it is nicer and easier to agree. I am certainly sensitive when it comes to slamming MY old coaches.
ReplyDeleteI don't comment much about recruits b/c only 25-30% ever contribute, but for a recruit to wait until a week or 2 after commitment day to seek advice is rediculous. This date has been known for a year and that is plenty of time to get advice. I don't see how this can gain the recruit any kind of "negotiating" leverage, therefore attention seems to be the only motivator.
Obviously, Saban is the real deal ... for now.
ReplyDeleteKnight = fool's gold. Has been.
If i were Knight i would not want to coach at the same school with saban. Knight has a temper, but at least he has some character. saban seems to have no shame or integrity.
ReplyDeletejet, I agree with you on P Marshalls grades on recruiting. I think this staff did a remarkable job given the circumstances they were dealt, but AU's class will not be close to Bama, LSU or Florida. Next year will give a more accurate view of this staff and HCs recruiting ability. Not trying to beat a dead horse, but AU CANNOT be shut-out again of top in-state players and hope to compete at a top-tier SEC level.
ReplyDelete"Next year will give a more accurate view of this staff and HCs recruiting ability. Not trying to beat a dead horse, but AU CANNOT be shut-out again of top in-state players and hope to compete at a top-tier SEC level."
ReplyDeleteWhat he wrote...
Bobby Knight needed Indiana to be Bobby Knight. He's just a sideshow now.
ReplyDeleteI agree mostly WITH PMarsh's assessment.
ReplyDeleteMichael ...
ReplyDeleteBut what about Depressed's assessment of my assessment of PMarsh's assesment? Could you assess that?
I FOR ONE COMPLETELY AGREE WITH WHATEVER MICHAEL SAYS.
ReplyDeletebut that's just me...
ussway
ReplyDeleteJet,
ReplyDeleteyou may want to emphasize which ASSESS you are asking about.
I'm not talking about anyone else's ASSESSES, just my own ASSESS.
ReplyDeleteThe agreement of assessments with WHICH I share with some of you good CHAPS is most pleasing to me, if I do so ASSESS myself.
ReplyDeleteI need amend my previous post. I DO NOT agree with everything Michael says. I fully believe that he's 100% wrong in his assessment of puppets.
ReplyDeleteI apologize for this grievous error on my part. But feel it's important to note that Michael's just plain wrong on the puppet issue.
So, GaTiger, where does this put you on the puppet stimulus plan, which is currently before Congress?
ReplyDeleteWhen elected, I am willing to work with the opposition on the puppet issue. My beliefs are firm, but there is room for compromise. Don't let the puppet issue be the only thing you think of when you are in that voting booth. Think of Jan Terri, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm opposed to puppet stimulation in general. Further, I feel that government has no place even discussing how puppets are stimulated. I for one think that government is big enough as it is but I'd be willing to support a study group to delve into this in more detail.
ReplyDeleteFederally funded of course.
ReplyDeleteSome of my friends are for puppet stimulation. Some of my friends are against it.
ReplyDeleteYou know me: I'm for my friends.
Yes, you've been for your friends as long as I've known you. You cannot sit astride your fence on this one though sir. You must fall on one side or the other.
ReplyDeleteIt's the only adult thing to do.
you all might like puppets until one kills someone you love. then talk to me.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think this class has a chance to be as good as last years class, which is pretty good if you consider the situation.
ReplyDeleteLike I say, it will take 3 or 4 years to get an idea on how good this new staff will be.
As far as Rivals v Scout -- If I'm not mistaken, Rivals is founded and/or run by a investment scam artist Bammer grad.
ReplyDeleteBased out of Nashville, am I right?
Can I really not talk to you Harrison? Because despite our shared feelings on puppets, they have never actually been FULLY responsible for killing one I love.
ReplyDeleteAnd does anyone else hate hearing the saying "defense wins champioships"?
ReplyDeleteWhat part of the defense won that one last night?
I'm just stoked it crept over 46.5 - raked a nice skillet.
And what about the air-time the refs got? That guy should have gotten money from an ad agency.
some dang dirty sock puppet killed my cat in reno just to watch it die.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see a puppet, a little piece of me dies.
ReplyDeleteWhen arguing recruiting - or discussing it - one should compare and contrast $aban's 1st vs Chizzel's first.
ReplyDeleteJMO
I heard the cat was snoring and had it coming. I'm just sayin'...
ReplyDelete
