The Tuesday Recruiting Opus

TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Post No. 1,030

Hey everyone. Let's take a gander at what we think we know Auburn will get tomorrow. Then we can peep what Auburn may get tomorrow -- or later for prospects on the David Oku Plan®.

  1. it's a pretty good list but it's not a nationwide list.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Looking forward to being able to stop wondering about where these guys will be and start wondering whether we can do anything with the ones we got! As Chiz has said, I'm not really concerned about the guys who aren't here. But I still want to get them!

    ReplyDelete
  3. i would really like it bama did not get randle or richardson. and we could pick up philips, emory, and oku.....and aycock.

    ReplyDelete
  4. AU hat on the table at the Greg Reid presser.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Jay, you have done a great job cover this, but thankfully it'll all be over tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  6. How do you get 25% of 10 prospects? Can we cut one in half and share him with another school?
I'm not sure I'd quite be satisfied with that scenario... I doubt the kid would be either.

    ReplyDelete
  7. If Chizik gets the first list and Patrick, that is some major credibility for the first year.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I thought Heaven's commitment was shaky.

If we get 25% of your hopefuls, I would call this a successful recruiting class.

    ReplyDelete
  9. over/under on those last ten is 2.5.

    ReplyDelete
  10. For the "Bubble prospects" I think we'll get phillips, blake, and aycock. I think we'll get only one of the other guys and then we'll offer a scholly to one of the JUCO CBs that are waiting. Given the number of guys that we expect to not qualify, that should put us right at 25

    ReplyDelete
  11. I am hoping for 3 out of those 10. If we get 4 or better, this would turn out to be an amazing class, considering the circumstances.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mark, Are you watching?

    ReplyDelete
  13. How many hats are on Reid's table? I can't pick up the presser.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Why would Reid even have an Auburn hat on the table? I heard he eliminated Auburn first. I didn't even think we were in that race. Oh well, moving on.

    ReplyDelete
  15. so who did this Reid kid pick anyways?

    ReplyDelete
  16. good luck to lsu on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Scottie, Reid has only eliminated one hat, Auburn. Apparently there are 3 more, so he should be making his pick around 10!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Kathy, no. I am following via other sites. AU hat removed. I think he signs with FSU.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hello hot babies! Are we excited? Is our breath bated?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I heard an interview by that Bastrop coach where he said Benton was a better receiver than Randle. Coach said Randle needed some work.

    ReplyDelete
  22. This whole hat thing makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

    ReplyDelete

    Hey hotties..

    Lurker since 07...

    First time poster..

By posting for the first time on signing day eve I am sure that you guys may see me as take the day off work, order take out, and drool over ever commitment from Auburn/uat to Nevada/Bowling Green.

Though I'm not that guy I'm cautiously optomistic going into tomorrow!!

Also, as a long time lurker I can assure you I was with all of you in spirit on many occasions. Some of those include: that cretin calling out Mr. Sensible, Mr. united getting on Monica's case on the roundable, and anyone saying that FSJ isn't the only tolerable bammer alive today.

WDE and it's nice to be on board

    ReplyDelete
  24. aww I love you already, Andrew! lol Welcome to the postin' side of the HABOTN!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Welcome Andrew and all other new posters today.

Reiddown to Florida St, Alabama, and UGA. Everyone seems to think FSU.

    ReplyDelete
  26. And by the way, I AM THAT GUY. Yep, I took tomorrow off. I'll be right here and y'all can't make me go away!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Me too Monica. I took tomorrow off as well!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. AUsome, Kathy! I'm so glad you'll be here. You dig up some great stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous6:07 PM

    Thanks Mon..

Big time props to any kid that does not put headgear on the "after Church, dinner on the grounds" folding table in the morning before his presser.

Those things make me a little sickly as well

    ReplyDelete
  30. Reid down to UGA and FSU. At least he eliminated Bama.

I wish we would hear about Oku tomorrow. I hate we have to wait on his decision.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jay-G,

Details please on the David Oku Plan.
Also, how did you do that registered trademark thing?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anybody know of a recruit in the Atlanta area who's considering us and put out the head gear tonight? I need a new hat.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks Mon. Unfortunately my workplace doesn't allow me the time to do my recruiting research. I've had some type of bug the last couple of days and suffered through it at work. I decided I was going to stay home tomorrow to rest and recuperate, with computer in lap of course!

    ReplyDelete
  34. the dop, David oku plan, involves a prospect waiting delaying his decision in order to speak with the oracle.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Andrew, I think you had Monica at Hey:)

    ReplyDelete
  36. So there is some 18 year old kid sitting somewhere eliminating a hat ever hour or so?

Who is Greg Reid anyway? I don't keep up with these things.

    ReplyDelete
  37. That &reg symbol is a & followed by reg.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous6:18 PM

    Zsteve..

I have that effect neva! I I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Reid to FSU. Took him 40 minutes to play that game.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Actually, you have to add a semi-colon after &reg to get ®

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous6:24 PM

Has anyone else heard that Pilson may be going JUCO?

That is the word in Greenville from a host of rediculously unreliable sources..This week is the first I have heard of that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wanna make other funky html characters such as "¿"? Take a look here.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Andrew, I read somewhere Pilson would go the Juco route or possibly to one of the mississippi schools, maybe Mississippi State. I don't remember the source.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Zteve,
Ha! What in the heck is that!! It's like some type of new Korean keyboard. I tried to make it just for fun to no avail.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous6:30 PM

I heard the State thing around town as well.

FWIW, his actions at the Bama-Miss all star game (before being sent home) were not out of character, and he wouldn't be a big loss at all.

I'd say if there ever was an anti Nosa Eguae, it would be Mr. Pilson.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I won't be taking off of work tomorrow, but I will have my Sony Walkman handy to try and keep up with everything. Speaking of which, I heard Phred on the roundtable today. Always good to hear the hotties on the radio.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've also heard Brandon Heavens, Tyler Knight, and Greg King would not qualify.

    ReplyDelete
  48. What's a guy gotta do to get accepted into Habotn on Facebook?!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Pilson has been headed to JUCO from the GETGO.

    ReplyDelete
  50. so for the most part sending a kid to juco is as good as not getting him?

    ReplyDelete
  51. That Hargrave Military Academy must have one heck of a football team!

    ReplyDelete
  52. So, hypothetically, if Tana Patrick signed with Auburn would his girlfriend lose her scholarship to Bama?

    ReplyDelete
  53. mateo: read the instructions? Did you identify yourself as mateo in your facebook request? Oh, you didn't? Ok. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  54. That would be interesting to watch, Kathy.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I was listening to finebaum while waiting on my kid at school. He said he was told that Chizik and his staff could possibly steal a recruit from Bama. I thought don't go out on a limb there finebaum that is such a vague statement. Now if we do get one he will say told if not he will blame it on whoever told him. Just my finebaum rant, he is very good at getting me stirred up. I know just don't listen.

    ReplyDelete
  56. who is the juco we just picked up? rivals is reporting?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Taikwon Paige gets offer and will sign tomorrow. 4 star JUCO CB.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jay G getting snippy.
    That's why I don't Facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Wow! Who pissed in your Wheaties? I didn't see anywhere that I could send a message. It just says request to join and that's it...otherwise I would have followed the instructions.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Taikwon Paige commitment means we got alot of "NOs" from the other uncommitted guys.

    ReplyDelete
  61. thats kind of a bummer then.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That's what I was thinking Ron.

    ReplyDelete
  63. mateo4au...

I feel your pain as I have taken the rath of JGT,,, and lived to tell....

    ReplyDelete
  64. but no, nevermind that kid looks good and contribute next year. i have got to stop turning lemonade into lemons.

    ReplyDelete
  65. What's wrong with Paige? 4 Star JUCO...not too shabby.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Like who? Your opinion?

I don't think it means that necessarily. I think they were trying to decide between him and Eargle. Those were the only two DBs left on the board that we were talking with.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Are we going to do a Campfire tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Did his wrath include stealing your clothes or is that a personal decision??

    ReplyDelete
  69. Aubie you don't have to join the HABOTN group to Facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  70. How many juco's are we getting that only have 2 years left. One or Two is ok but I don't like the thought of getting bunch. Reminds me of Miss. St. under Sherril.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Paige has 3years to play 2.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm happy with Paige. I didn't understand why we haven't offered sooner. Maybe they wanted to be sure they would have enough scholarships available. I prefer Paige over a couple we have committed.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Why is it stars?

    Why not footballs?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Auburn commits DL Nick Fairley, DE Terrance Coleman and WR LaVoyd James will all sign with Auburn at Williamson HS Wednesday morning at 9:45 a.m. CT.

    per B. Matthews

    ReplyDelete
  75. Tigerfan, If this guy can come in and take Powers spot or be the Nickel or even a return guy, then we need him for 1, 2 years. I like it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sorry you've not felt well, Kathy. I think a Signing Day in bed is exactly what the doctor ordered.
    ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  77. alright Hotties, im off to dinner. catch yall on the flipside where lots of good things happen for AU.

    peace.

    ReplyDelete
  78. If paige was a a big time player he would have either

    A. More D-1 scholly offers than us and UAB

    B. Gotten an offer from us a month ago when roof was hired

He had neither, so essentially he is an a guy with too many stars by his name

    ReplyDelete
  79. Monica,
Quit begging and pleading with me to join Facebook. Also, quit calling my house and hanging up when my wife answers. Also, stop rolling the tree in my front yard and stealing my mail. Also, quit boiling my kids' rabbit in a pot on the stove.

    ReplyDelete
  80. When you are lacking in depth, you have to get some JUCO players. You aren't guaranteed 4 years with any player. It seemed like a lot of players left early this year for the draft.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anonymous7:00 PM

Pilson's friends told me yesterday that he just "decided" to go the JUCO route. That laughable conversation was indeed the first I heard of him not being at AU; but it does not surprise me that that was the thinking all along.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ron, no worry, he'll lose some of those stars from Rival once he signs with Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I see all the JUCOs as CGC way of saying the BBQ boys were lax in recruiting the past few years.....

    ReplyDelete
  84. Out of Jay list I think we lose Brandon Heavens, and get Aycock and Blake.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Welcome Andrew.
    I know three Andrews.
    The bald one.
    The chubby one.
    and
The one who lurks for months before revealing himself.
    Which one are you?

    ReplyDelete
  86. My grammar and spelling sux tonight. Cold medicine and lack of education taking its toll.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous7:06 PM

    Thanks Aubie..

I have a big dome full of hair..
Not chubby, but since turning 30 28days ago I pay way more attention to my shrinking metabolism..

The lurker "DING" (in my best Rush Probst voice)..that's me..

BTW, Rush says Sarah Jessica is the best QB in the draft. Shocker!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Ron - Never said he was bigtime, although he very well might be. My question was: Who do you think is saying "No"?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Tigerfan, I hope you are right about Blake.

Aubie, you are too funny. I hope when we have our HABOTN tailgate you are there to tell us your childhood stories.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Thinking back during the Army high school game when those recruiting experts were talking about what makes a great recruiter, the word "relentless" is what they used over and over. That's why I smiled when I just read this line from Bryan @ AuburnSports.com

"At about 6:30 on the way home I passed both Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper working the phones with recruits. Those guys are relentless."

    ReplyDelete
  91. lol 44

Aubie I want you to be my Facebook friend. I like freaks on my list. Come on...please?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Not sure exactly phred, but they were holding paige's scholarship for someone else who declined it. Think spencer pybus last situation, everyone said "no" to us last year so we were able to "steal" him from duke. Replace Duke with UAB in this equation.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Andrew, any Hottie with a dog goes to the head of the class! We not only love Auburn, but we love our four-legged companions.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Well Ron, I have no problem "settling" for a guy that is decently ranked, clocks a 4.4 and stands 6 ft tall as a cornerback.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous7:11 PM

Thanks Kathy..Love love love me some dogs! Especially Vizslas! I've had one ever since I was a wee little barner! :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Whoever said earlier their dog is named Dansby... that is awesome and i may have to steal that one day

    ReplyDelete
  97. Someone post the HABOTN Facebook link?

    ReplyDelete
  98. RM - That could easily be true and probably is. BUT, it could also be true that they had time to evaluate Earlge and Paige, and picked Paige over Eargle. I don't think it necessarily means somebody we thought we were going to get is not coming. JMO

    ReplyDelete
  99. I don't like settling for anything, it means you didn't get what you wanted

    ReplyDelete
  100. But you are probably right. dang it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Go ahead and join Aubie I finally joined facebook and it was virtually painless. I still have not found many uses for it yet but I am trying to learn.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Possibly phred, we'll see tomorrow. If we end up with Eargle also we will know we really got worked.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Some one explained to me one time but I have forgot, why do some kids go juco and others prep school. Something about core grades I think.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Paige is a 4-star. Wasn't Pybus a 2-star? Don't think you can compare this to last year. I'm thinking it's Greg King. I don't think he is coming to Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  105. bow9den - www.facebook.com

sign up and then search for The HABOTN Hotties group.

Send Jay or Kristina an email asking to be added. In the name of all that is holy please include your real name, habotn name, facebook name.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I feel sorry for Eargle. He seemed like he really liked Auburn, and I bet he is waiting by the phone for that call. You can probably compare him to Pybus!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Habotn Facebook

  108. Monica, you made me spew my coffee!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Monnie,
If and when I join Facebook, you will be the first to know.
You just need to keep it quiet, because I don't want the press or the first lady to find out

    ReplyDelete
  110. sorry (not really)
    HAHA

    ReplyDelete
  111. stars look cool but that's it, the other schools that want you are what matters. For instance that Bates kid that we will sign will be a player, Paige... i have my doubts

    ReplyDelete
  112. Well, then in our minds we can just make Bates the four star and Paige the three star, and then we're all good.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Ron, Paige's commitment came after Greg Reid made his decision tonight. Auburn was still on his list, although the first "hat" eliminated. Maybe that is why they were holding out on the offer.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Aubie - You can SO trust me.

    ReplyDelete
  115. indeed phred. If you really want to be depressed go back and look at the 5 star guys we have been signing in previous classes and rank them what they should be.

    ReplyDelete
  116. My Facebook today.

    Charlie Oneal wrote at 12:10pm
Your offer is coming very soon. Hold on, War Eagle.

    re:
    I hope so Charlie

    ReplyDelete
  117. If I had a dime for every woman who has told me that...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Could be Kathy. I was thinking along the lines of Dequinta Jones or Emory Blake saying "no thank you"

    ReplyDelete
  119. Kathy - I don't think that was it but nice hustle anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  120. On the HABOTN/Facebook tip, Kristina made it very clear that we need a HABOTN handle to get things handled.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Charlie,
So you are the one who offerred him? Does he know it was you and not the coaches?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Come on guys. Let's be positive. Think happy thoughts!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I don't feel like Dequinta Jones is coming to Auburn, so it could be him. I'm still holding out hope for Blake. I think he like Auburn, and I know he likes Gus. I think the distance might be the drawback.

    ReplyDelete
  124. OK. For those of you wanting to join the FACEBOOK group...

Send me or Jay G an e-mail and let us know who you are. You can find our e-mail addresses in our profiles.

I usually try to send a message via facebook but we've got several confirmation requests now, so just send us an e-mail. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  125. I really need to blog more, but I'm actually taking call-ins tonight. Not much opportunity for me to get free right now.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I am surprisingly happy and positive. I have discovered the secret.

IN ORDER FOR ONE TO HAVE HIS EXPECTATIONS EXCEEDED, ONE MUST HAVE LOW EXPECTATIONS ... Dahli Lama yesterday at lunch

    ReplyDelete
  127. Last year was borderline unbearable, I refuse to get my hopes up. But if we can get Phillips, Ayecock and Blake/Jones to sign I will consider this a successful class.

    ReplyDelete
  128. So, am I to understand some of you are actually going to take off work for signing day? To be a revolutionary, should I go into work?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Aubie - Women you're paying don't count.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Phillips is crucial

    ReplyDelete
  131. Steve - You are a rebel!

    ReplyDelete
  132. I conveniently caught a nasty head cold and have called out tomorrow, as it really stands I feel like crap but I can watch the signatures roll in.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Kristina,
    What's your url on facebook?

    ReplyDelete
  134. I gotcha, Jay. I finally found a way to send you a message and Kristina has contacted me as well. Everything is fine. Sorry I hit a nerve.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I'm a crazy fan. I'm a fanatical fan. I'm a homer fan. But, take a day off for signing day? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Mon,
In that case, I would have no dimes.

    ReplyDelete
  137. That's the spirit SeanZ! Dedicated to the HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  138. One of the bad sides of working from home is you can't really call in sick. I mean, unless you are like bed ridden, you has to be able to work at least some.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Steve - I work a lot more and for too many hours when I work from home.

    ReplyDelete
  140. That is one of the other drawbacks. Typically when I am in here, I am also working. Dual monitors make the world go round:)

    ReplyDelete
  141. Phred, it's one of the best excuses I know to miss work! It's too difficult for me to work and spend time with the Hotties rejoicing or commiserating, whichever case it may be tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Aubie - I'm just messin' with you. Please don't let that effect your decision to add me to your friends list.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Mon - you mean you get paid by HABOTN and Face Book?

    ReplyDelete
  144. You're too mean to talk to anymore, Phred.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Got a thread about Taikwon Paige up.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I use to be able to work from home from time to time, but our boss mandated for 2009 no virtual work. For some reason, we are going backwards in our organization. Considering the layoff announcements, I decided I better comply with the new rules; therefore, sick leave tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Well, a great philosopher once said "I get paid for doing this"!!! Okay, maybe not a great philosopher, but it was a famous guy. Okay, I admit it, it was Steve Martin, but it is still valid.

    ReplyDelete
