Two linemen (and one WR/TE) make their decisions

MONDAY NIGHT
Post No. 1,027

Corey Gaines (at left) has made his decision and it doesn't involve the Tigers.

The Tallahassee defensive tackle committed to Ole Miss this afternoon. Former Auburn beat hack, Neal McCready, broke the news over at RebelSports.net.

ALSO: Guard Johnnie Farms told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he will stick with his commitment to North Carolina.

UPDATE: WR/TE Tracy Moore of Tulsa, Okla., said he'll standing by his commitment to Oklahoma State. He visited Auburn last weekend.

  1. No need to spam the thread, Wes!

  2. sorry :) couldn't help myself.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I've watched this opening scene before in last season's classic "0-fer on Signing Day"

    ReplyDelete
  4. I wanted Farms. We need offensive linemen.

    ReplyDelete
  5. So does Ole Miss have about 50 commitments now?!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. You know. AU could have had Farms early on in the process, but since w/ had Genius Franklin at OC, no need for a big physical O lineman. Better to go w/ that 245 pounder in Texas (now commited to Iowa State)

    ReplyDelete
  7. AUBREY PHILLIPS last hope

    ReplyDelete
  8. with this years recruits Davis has some hosses on both his D and O lines

    ReplyDelete
  9. 245lb.....that kid would have had to shed tons of weight for our line

    ReplyDelete
  10. They are both sissies.

    ReplyDelete
  11. So Oku is no longer "commited" to Tennessee...

    ReplyDelete
  12. any other OL folks on the board?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I told you we needed to send Farms LOTS of shrubberies. No one listened and it's all gone to pot

    ReplyDelete
  14. Has anyone started the Fire Jeff Lebo website yet?

    ReplyDelete
  15. about four years ago

    ReplyDelete
  16. Jay, I bet every HABOTN thread since September 2008 has had at least one reference to Tony Franklin.

I say, keep 'em coming (preferrably qualified somewhere with the word "dumbass")

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well Phred, I'm officially on board now. I've defended Lebo as a good coach for too long. We let an average Vandy team beat us at home. That's the last straw. When the other coachs start to defend you, the end should be near. On other coach defends a guy that kicks their butts. They defend LOSERS.

    ReplyDelete
  18. i'm sure the majority of AU basketball fans are on board...all 3 of them.

seriously, at least unrealistically high expectations show that you care. i feel like Lebo could hang around forever.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We don't need any more than one lineman; a center. He snaps it to one of the 10 RBs who start running in 20 different directions. It's the Sybil-Hog formation.

    ReplyDelete
  20. sadly, if Lebo just recruited ONE reasonably good big man every two years, his record would be twice as good. Just one. We have had NONE in five years.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm out for the night hotties. Have a good week.

    ReplyDelete
  22. yeah that would work, silly walks

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jumpin Jack Flash!!@!

Playing to .500 is "unreasonably high expectations?"

    That was a joke right?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous8:22 PM

Wes.....according to the Scout.com public site, no more OL other than Phillips.

    ReplyDelete
  25. something was lost in the translation.

meant to say...AU fans have no expectations.

    ReplyDelete
  26. hoopie-thanks for the info. looks like we will remain thin.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Do you think Ole Miss is overcommited? They must expect a few to be nonqualifiers.

  28. jay, are you thinking we are ADD and cannot stay on one thread at a time and needs lots blogs to keep our attention
or are you trying to make us that don't want to be interested in recruiting to get excited, upset, and wring our hands over recruiting
and get even more addicted to the HABOTN??!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. WEG-i don't know if i could get anymore addicted.

to me, a new thread is like fresh snow waiting to be played in.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well I wanted Gaines but really we are ok at DL with 3 commits and 1 going JUCO. Farms was a long shot but I thought we could pull him. Is Phillips our last hope for this class?

    ReplyDelete
  31. War Eagle Girl ... your post confirms that Jay G's new blogging style is making you ADD.

    ReplyDelete
  32. it's a conspiracy to keep us under 200 posts!!!!

Of course, I like the new snow theory

    ReplyDelete
  33. i do get excited everytime JayG says he is putting up a new thread..,

    ReplyDelete
  34. speaking of snow...how's the weather around the HABOTN family tree.

here in North Carolina we've got showers and in the 40's.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Off to watch the new episode of Medium....have a great night and sweet dreams of new recruits!
    War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  36. here in this part of NC 43 and clear

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks again for the link, Kathy.

I added Moore information to the main thread.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was much happier when I didn't follow recruiting.

On a brighter note, I cooked a pretty awesome dinner for Mrs. J-Z tonight. Pan seared grouper with brown butter garlic sauce served with sauteed squash and parmesan cheese grits.

Beats heck out of Beanie Weenies.

    Just sayin'

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wes, don't trust me. Steady drizzle outside.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hope ADD isn't Automatic Death Disorder.

    ReplyDelete
  41. THT...sounds familiar. what part of NC (i'm in high point)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Working the grouper and cheese grits and unveiling the kicker on a stick on the same day.

J-Z, you sittin' in the recliner in your smoking jacket as the king of your house?

    ReplyDelete
  43. master of his domain!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Naw...I wouldn't big time you Jet. Just boxers and a t shirt like always.

    ReplyDelete
  45. j-z, perhaps, but you know sometimes you just have to have Beanie Weenies. It could be that whole pregnancy thing.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Let's hope not.

    ReplyDelete
  50. so we are 0 for 3 from this weekend so far

    ReplyDelete
  51. where's FSJ? I'm curious as to what he's hearing about KK right now?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Weren't a lot of the kids from this weekend longshots anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't think Ole Miss left room for Raymond Cotton, Pat Patterson ahhaha, that's wise.

    ReplyDelete
  54. A lot of long shots, yes.

Phillips and Oku still look like legitimate possibiities.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey Mr. Tate, since you're here... Does the Bill Clark story still have any momentum behind it?

Also, Justin Albert was mentioned earlier in the day. What is his current status?

    ReplyDelete
  56. If you believe we are going to get the FLA runningback, then we would not be 0 for 3 this weekend.

Has anyone heard where Cotton is landing?

    ReplyDelete
  57. wes, Google is a wonderful tool!

    ReplyDelete
  58. tigercowboy as of now 0 for 3

    ReplyDelete
  59. No BS here....I talked to Bill Clark tonight and he told me that he has not talked to anybody at Auburn. He even told me that some site had contacted him and knew he was the knew LB coach and wanted to get him on the record.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Mr. Tate is my dad. I'll ask him.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well there is one bright spot to our OL issues. Bama has 6 committed with Brandon Moore still yet to decide. Next year we should have our pick of in-state OL.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wow...you try and pay someone a little common courtesy and you get busted on. Sigh... These kids today.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ahh..."Mr. Tate", a sign of reverence and respect.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Too much grits talk. I'm craving grits and shrimp from that micro brewery/restaurant on the river in Chattanooga.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Monica ... never too much grits talk!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Forgive me, Jet?

  70. J-Z ... did you get all the Dukes of Hazzard trivia you need?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think so. You guys should make the trip up on Thursday night.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'd feel better if we get phillips, seems we are addin some speed, though.

    ReplyDelete
  73. ave fun playing tight end and being a blocking dummy Tracy Moore, peice a' crap

    ReplyDelete
  74. haha, we'll live without moore.

jay G: get a radio show

    ReplyDelete
  75. Looks like I'll be dining at City Grill instead. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Watch your blood pressure, hag. you're not getting any younger

    ReplyDelete
  77. Moore was a nice fellow; I wish him well.

Good night hotties. I'm off to the airport to pick up the hottiest of all, Mrs THT.

No HABOTN at tomorrow's work site :-(
I'll need Prozac, or maybe Methadone

    ReplyDelete
  78. goodnight THT!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Goodnight THT and all Hotties. I'm calling it a day, too. Talk to you all tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Goodnight hotties.

    ReplyDelete
  81. GOOOOOOD NIGHT TO ALL

    ReplyDelete
  82. OK, since Jet brought it up again in this thread - here's my Dukes of Hazard trivia contribution: Sonny "Enos" Shroyer, whose stellar turn as Paul W. Bryant in Forrest Gump got his first movie role as "The Idiot Convict" in the original Longest Yard.

Of course, you say, that's not trivia - everyone knows that.

What not everyone knows is that what Sonny was doing before joining Burt Reynolds in that 1975cinematic triumph: he was a State Farm agent in Valdosta, GA.

Specifically, he was my dad's State Farm agent.

Oh, and while we're at it, some personal trivia: my dad took me to see Sonny light up the screen in that epic when it hit the theaters - it was my first "R" rated film.

Both Pop and I enjoyed it.

  83. Doug will be out on Thursday and Friday, so I'll be going the distance on WMSP then.

We've got a lot to do between now and then, but save the date. Please listen.

Good morning, Hotties, on this fine Signing Day Eve.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Signing Day Eve and the potential presents are dwindling...that's three down.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Who are the signing day surprises going to be?

This signing day should be much more interesting than previous ones. It could be a complete dud, but I bet there are some fireworks.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous6:58 AM

like whom, Eddie? I tend to agree with SeanZ.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Too bad there isn't a Denny's within a 100 miles from here...

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hey 44! Just kickin it on a SDE.

To all you folks who are trying to drop pounds remind me to tell you about something later. I have to take off to the office right now.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Has anyone got any insight into Jonathan Evans and Terrance Coleman? Disappointing news on Gaines and Farms. If I was UNC, Farms is one of those players I wouldn't feel comfortable about until I had his fax in hand. He has been all over the place recruiting-wise.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I don't really feel comfortable about anyone until we've got a fax in hand.

    ReplyDelete
  102. So... supposedly OL Brandon Moore may not have a home come tomorrow...
Apparently uat and UF have both told him that they have no room for him.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Miller, who's reporting re: Moore?

    ReplyDelete
  104. D. Miller, any idea why both schools backed out? We really need some O-lineman but after hearing him talk about AU after his visit, I doubt he will be coming here.

    ReplyDelete
  105. DMiller ...

I am hearing the same thing about Brandon Moore ... that would be a nice get.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Dennys had to long of a line it was ridiculous, settled for a burger and a cheap snow cone

    ReplyDelete
  107. Monica- Getting up early to work out gets easier with time. Take it from me. I am fully accustomed to waking up at 4:20am to go work out.

Luv- I just have a hunch there will be somebody that is not on the radar right now that will sign. I could be completely wrong, but someone like Benton is whom I'm refering to.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Well Brandon Moore would be a huge get, but he didn't sound ethusiastic about Auburn...maybe that's a steal for TN or Clemson.

I fear we are at that precipice once again.

    ReplyDelete
  110. OK, kids ...

I'm going to be optimistic that everything will be fine tomorrow.

Farms hurts, but we're not done yet.

Let's not go to the Grand Canyon and fixate on falling. Let's enjoy the view.

    War Eagle.

    ReplyDelete
  111. LOL, jet. That is a great perspective. I will try to remember that tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I'm pretty happy that we even have the opportunity to be disappointed right now. My gut feeling tells me there will be at least a few things to be excited about tomorrow.

After the season and the departure of CTT, I figured I would have been bummed out at least a few weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  116. Morning HOTTIES!!!!

Getting Close! Are we ready for some commitments?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Morning Mon....

    My you've been up early!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Well, it was 5:36 here, but yeah that is early for me. Just woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed.

From Rivals main page under the title: "The Next Wave: Redshirts to watch in 2009
Auburn WR Philip Pierre-Louis: This three-star prospect from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas might have earned substantial playing time this past season if he hadn't sustained a knee injury while returning the opening kickoff of the Tigers' first game.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Mon, how is Oku freaking out? Like a facebook status freakout or a legit freak out?

    ReplyDelete
  120. PJ - It was a Rivals article saying Oku was telling everyone to leave him alone - wants coaches to stop calling him - he needs to to think, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  121. look at Mon rockin' the HABOTN tee. looks like someone is ready for signing day! Phreddie and Eddie must've inspired ya.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Per Rivals.com story on Oku: "I'm not committed to anyone anymore," he said.

"I don't have any plans to sign on Wednesday. I don't know when a decision will be made. I just need some space and some time to think and sort things out. Hopefully the coaches will respect that and understand how difficult this has become for me."

    ReplyDelete
  123. Scottie! I'm glad someone finally noticed! :-D

    ReplyDelete
  124. Next thing you are going to tell me is that beautiful actresses don't enjoy being stalked. Cry me a river, Oku!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Oku is freaking out because he fears the wrath of Mon if he does not come to AU

    ReplyDelete
  126. I fear the wrath of mon daily...by the way Mon on that bet we discussed Re: Rueben Randle, I lost the house.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Sorry I have been out of the loop....Any News on Tracy Moore or Joel Kight?

    ReplyDelete
  128. you fellas never listen to me

    ReplyDelete
  129. Oku wants the Runningback U.

I just feel bad for Bryce Brown. He was going to be the surprise commit without even visiting, but after Oku, he will have to go elsewhere. (*wink wink)

How many RBs are we going to have on roster???

    ReplyDelete
  130. Moore says he is staying with Oklahoma St and Kight committed to Ole Miss...

    ReplyDelete
  131. Anonymous8:36 AM

    Monica, you'd think they'd learn...

    ReplyDelete
  132. Sorry Mon....what was that?

    ReplyDelete
  133. I am glad too see Aycock is on his way to the plains...I hate how things went down with Tech, but I like what I have seen and heard about the kid.

A few months ago Luginbill was expecting him to take over the starting QB role

    ReplyDelete
  134. I still do not understand where we put all these RBs (actual and potential). Both Oku and Aycock look like fine gets, but who will block for them???

By the way, the idea of the Wild-Sybil (with 10 RBs running every direction) was a joke. I do not think even Gustave M. can be effective without linemen.

    ReplyDelete
  135. so Aycock has committed then?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Aycock was down to GT and Auburn when GT pulled his offer. I think the assumption is that AU is the last one standing, but he certainly has plenty of other options (many offers).

By the way, since when is GT the ACC King of the Hill that can bully coveted 18 year olds?? They are not in the position to yank offers on principle.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Mon,
I noticed you Rocking the Hottie Shirt yesterday, but I didn't say anything... sorry.

I kinda felt like Jim Brown when asked why he just hands the football back to ref after a TD, and he said "Act like you been there before..."

I just knew you knew you lokked sporty!!!

    ReplyDelete
  138. LOL No need to be sorry, Mobile.

    ReplyDelete
  139. i need to get me a HABOTN shirt pic up here with my kids. they were so funny in the snow yesterday.

oh, if anyone still wants a HABOTN tee i still have a few left in L, XL & 2X.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Come on, Scottie - I gave you video of my kids in the snow. It's your turn.

    ReplyDelete
  141. mon, i know. i recorded video on my phone thinking i could upload it to facebook. not working for me, though. dunno.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Upload it to YouTube and then from YouTube to Facebook or just give us the YouTube link

Your phone video file probably isn't in the format Facebook likes.
