Chillin' on a Sunday

Hey everyone. I'm basically out of circulation today, trying to rest up for this week we have ahead. It should be a doozy.

  • We have men's NIT on Tuesday.

  • We have first day of spring football on Tuesday.

  • We have more spring football on Thursday.

  • We have more spring football on Saturday.

  • We have women's NCAAs (if Auburn beats Rutgers tomorrow) on Sunday.

Feel free to comment below on the men's NCAA games in progress. I did my best for Oklahoma State this afternoon ... to no avail.

  4. az made the sweet 16. they are going to have a coaching decision to make. their coach takes over when lute resigns, recruits are dropping out, team is losing then BAM, sweet 16. they are supposed to be shopping for a big name coach, but the guy they have is building a pretty big name for himself.

  10. Informal poll....
Should we buy GE appliances or Whirlpool appliances?
Lowe's the best place to get them?

Also, has anyone here laid ceramic tile in their kitchen (floor)? Really hard to do, or not too bad?

  11. Just got around to going through the mail and saw the new sports illustrated. Cool to see Dewanna so prominately on the cover.

Also, what's the deal with Coach K. He looks like he's dropping a deuce.

  12. I don't think I saw AU one time in the promotional spot for WNCAA on ESPN. I bet they showed 10 different teams. I was looking for the AU score on the crawl last night after I got in and AU was the very last one w/ no stats. At least SI will give AU some modest respect.

    ReplyDelete
  13. DMiller - There's not an ounce of difference between the two. As to where to buy, check Newegg. If they're not better than Lowe's, then go for it.

Ceramic tile is do-able. I won't say that it's easy, buy worth the cost savings to do it yourself.

  19. Wow, crappy finish to the weekend by Auburn's baseball team. They were definitely competitive for the first two games, but were out of sorts today. 4 errors, and pitching was as bad as it could get. Still, hope this young team can use it as a learning experience and turn it around next weekend vs Vandy. Hopefully, a couple of out of conference mid-week games(at Samford and Troy) will help get the confidence back up.

Tile is backbreaking work if you are not used to working on your hands and knees all day (let it go Hotties)

No joke, it is not hard to do, but it can be physically hard.

I didn't know this was the SF!?!?

  28. Big Love, gotta see it. And I wanted to take the opportunity to mention football!!! I can't wait to get a few hints of what is to come. Lets reach out and hit somebody!!!

  31. Toast with buttah, FSJ.

Mrs. Jet watching Big Love. Could care less, personally.

Stewardess and appendage are in my man cave watching TV ... quite disconcerting. Second night in a row he's been at house.

    ReplyDelete
  32. How much less could you care?

You let the appendage kick you out of your man cave????

    hee hee

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh, I've started to exact my revenge.

Her bed won't be quite as comfortable tonight. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'd be sharpening my knife at the door if some appendage thought he could keep me out of my man cave.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh, he's out now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ah, the old reversal of the mattress and boxsprings ... a classic.

    ReplyDelete
  37. did you fill the foot of the bed full of ice bags?

    ReplyDelete
  38. WOW @ Big Love

And the appendage is so not gone. HA

    ReplyDelete
  39. home depot or lowe's may teach a class on how to install ceramic tile. check with them. the second room was much easier after learning a few tricks.

if you are going to dyi, go get a good tile cutter. your life will be miserable without one...i cannot stress this enough.

is someone washing practice jerseys? i smell football!

    ReplyDelete
  40. That was the best big love episode I have seen, and by far the most complex. If you haven't followed the story, you would be terribly confused.

    ReplyDelete
  41. give it up Jet. it only gets worse. my deduction has been here since 2:00pm. I'm about to ask himto fold some clothes and wash some dishes.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Howdy... DMiller, Don't know about the appliances, but laying tile, I do. Be careful if your kitchen on 2nd floor, but if you're on a slab, go for it. If you're young, no big deal. Over 40, your back and knees will hurt. Will save a bunch of cash however.

    ReplyDelete
  43. dmiller- I have only replaced some ceramic tile. not nearly as hard to because the lines are already set for the layout. I paid someone to do a bathroom. With the economy the way it is, some guys may do it to just keep active.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Jet, does your wife fly. Mine is with Delta. (Delta stands for...Don't expect luggage to arrive!)

    ReplyDelete
  45. If the tile is going on a slab, be sure to glue down some felt paper and then tile over it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Laying tile on the floor is easy if you know how to start and a few other tricks. I can answer questions via email if you need help. Now laying it up the wall, not so easy.

I was proud of the fact that I'm 39-9 with my bracket, until I found out that my friend's 8 year old is also 39-9. Punch to the gut.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hope you're feeling better Jay G.

The Auburn Baseball series was quite disappointing this weekend, then again, over the past couple of years I have grown accustom to being disappointed by Auburn Baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Men are like tile. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Phred, I've got all but Arizona in the sweet 16. Guess I missed on 10 so far. My start didn't look so good, but my key teams are winning.

    ReplyDelete
  50. tile can be hard and crooked...

    ReplyDelete
  51. lol not the punchline I had in mind, but a good answer

    Goodnight, Hotties.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Steve, Monica, the finale of Big Love was off of the charts in my eyes. Did Joey really kill Roman? I can't believe he would go out in that fashion, but on this show the unexpected has to be expected. I now feel like I do when football season is over. What do I watch now?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Women are like tile. Once you laid one, you want to lay them all.

    ReplyDelete
  54. PF, you are right there, Nitro circus is always good for a laugh and a little amazement.

    ReplyDelete
  55. the tile will be going on slab, first floor... and floor only...

WTC... what is the purpose of the felt paper? why not directly on concrete?

    ReplyDelete
  56. having never laid tile, I am not an expert, but I suspect the felt is so that, when you decide you hate the tile in 5 years and want to remodel, it reduced the chances of chiseling away peices of the slab.

    ReplyDelete
  57. ...or maybe it has something to do with moisture.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Damnit Team USA is losing again

  60. If I were a GM of a MLB team, you couldn't pay me enough to employ Adam Dunn on my team. Awful... just awful...

    ReplyDelete
  61. you look at a called 3rd strike to end the game?

    c'mon Dunn... you putz

  63. just realized hip-hopanonymous has a bracket. Where you been? Haven't seen you posting in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Does anyone ever watch these Law Call shows? Someone should prank call them about HABOTN or Jay.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The felt paper serves as a bond breaker, so that if the slab cracks one day, it won't continue into the tile. The tile will be "floating" on the slab via the bond breaker, or in this case the felt paper. It is a quick version of a setting bed, which was a common thing to do years ago. In that case, the slab was depressed in the tile area and a setting bed was used. Again, the idea is to prevent foundation cracks from tranferring into the flooring.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Have a good week and safe travels Jay!

My bracket looks terrible folks. Last year I had 16/16 in the sweet 16. This year 12/16...and I barely got that. Final 4 is in tact, but with the top heaviness of the tourney, who's isn't?!? It will be a great final 15 games. Hate I won't be getting that Size L HABOTN shirt that I NEED, but it's been fun keeping up with the contest nonetheless!

    War Damn Eagle everybody!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Personally, I believe in economic stimulation -- hiring flooring guys to lay tile, painting guys to paint, and so forth.

It gives them a job, and gives me time to spend on HABOTN.

    A true win-win.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Morning Hotties - As is often the case, and has been for years, I agree with Jet. Though, my position isn't truly about economice stimulation. It's more selfishness or stubborness at this point. Sure, I'd like to be more handy than I am, but I recognize where to draw the line and know that my time is pretty valuable to me and I don't want to frustrate myself and my family. So, I'll hire out jobs such as that to someone who knows what they're doing. They can be in and out in easily half the time it would take me to finish it and they'll have done a better job.

    But, that's just me.

Anyway, have a good day doing whatever it is that each of you do.

    Good morning, Hotties. Monday. UGH.

If you didn't have a stake in it, there sure have been some great games in the first two rounds of the Men's Tourney. Unlike the Women's, where a lot of the games were blowouts.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Bingo Jet...

I have no desire to learn how to do any thing like that.

  72. Monday again? Aw crap. Oh well, y'all try to have a good one.

I think the Lady Tigers have a good chance of beating Rutgers even though it's pretty much a home game for them.

    ReplyDelete
  80. what about the Lady Vols losing in the first round last nite? first time EVER they did not make the Sweet 16. what a record. wow.

it's also first time ever that the defending National Champion made the tourney the next year and lost in the first round.

  82. Happy Monday, Hotties!

Jay G. I hope you're feeling lots better today.

  83. Watched my first ladies game, and I tell ya what, I'm very hopeful. I didn't even jinx 'em that much by watching! And I love Keke's game. I wish she could get more FT's down, but truthfully she's like watching Shaq. Those little Lehigh girls trying to jump up and take the ball away from her, that was AWESOME!
