1. I love the angle of your camera. You're so good with the camera (still and vid) 2. I LOVE Troopers voice. Do you have his phone number? 3. Gus - calves are too skinny. 4. I flippin LOVE LOVE LOVE the "NO DROPS" thing. I couldn't understand what else he was saying. 5. I know I'm a freak, but I could watch them practice for a long time and not get bored.
Great job, Jay G. It looks way different under lights on the practice fields. You were dead-on about Trooper, sounds like he was hollering through a bullhorn. Thanks for a football-fix!
Just in from the game. Tough loss. Fitting that FT's were the down fall. at the time I felt Reed should dished to someone else for that shot he was foule don, but it all happened so fast.
Good season though. At least we were talking BB up to spring practice. Not many others can say that around the country.
Jet, did you see me tonight. I was all over the camera. wife has several photos taken with cell phone of me on the air. Thankfully not doing anything to embarass myself.
I do understand that coach Tubs had some health problems which held him back more than he let on, but it was just time for a change. For better or worse. Coach Tomlin said that "Drive" makes you great and the old regime had lost that IMO. Night all.
they lost it when mike shula showed up and they no longer had to recruit their home state to get >50% of the top talent. tub's great recruits came from going up against dubose's (ahem) recruiting tactics and a competent fran staff.
"we're really going to actually run that tempo." After last year, the need to stress this point is obvious. Kodi sounds very pleased with the new OC. I still think he can be a good QB at Auburn. Jay, thanks again for the updates.
I think it's good for AU that he made the trip down in the middle of the week (assuming he's on his spring break??) to visit AU's first day of spring practice. I wonder if he's visiting any other spring practices, or any other schools...
Boy what alot to go through early this morning..ok..last nights loss..sigh..FTs finally got us..that being said...great year men!! I will now be watching b'ball again...been a long time..so here's to next year..WAR EAGLE...
Jay-Thanks for the video..Great stuff..I know this might be premature..but from the 30 minutes of practice you watched how would you rank the QB's?
Who's the next/current RoF member that got the HABOTN some ESPN time?
Great job with the HABOTN sign at the basketball game last night, Matt! The loss was disappointing, but it was a great game. I agree with wtc - it was fitting that it came down to free throws.
What's the best way to start a work out in Huntington, WV? By hearing a big WAR EAGLE! when you walk in the door! A professor at Marshall and sister HIT Center chick is an Auburn grad!
Jay G. Thanks for the great vid, practice report and player statements. Really, really good stuff, Daddy Bear!
Jay, any reason to be concerned about Gabe McKenzie? I have learned to be nervous about unexplained reasons for players not practicing. I am not asking for specifics.
When Trooper Taylor yelled, "Shut up!" on the video I was scared of talking for the next 10 minutes or so. I'm still a little nervous about it right now.
Every time I start getting optimistic, I just start thinking about last offseason, one of the most optimistic offseason's in the history of man. Boy Tony Franklin, you really did a number on me. Can I ever learn to love again?
RK, I agree that sounds painfully familiar, but AU now has a OC and HC who are on the same page(as far as we know.) I still don't think the offense we saw at the beginning of the season last year( and for sure later in the season) was the offense Franklin wanted to run. The pace was much faster during the spring scrimmages that were open to the public than what was shown in the fall. I'm not saying it would have worked, I just don't think it was what CTF really intended it to be.
Luv, I couldn't agree more. I need to see it to believe it will actually work, but I think the situation is much improved with the coaches all working off of the same page. I think the players will be put into schemes where their abilities can be utilized better than in the past. The question to me is how good is that ability?
It's good not to see TT on the sideline feeling sorry for himself and looking defeated. I hated that drill you got of el toro when i was playing. Our coach let us get one step in though.
The Tony Franklin System -- based on credit default swaps -- caused Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers to fail, and led to the bailouts of AIG, Citi, the automakers, and also led to the $5 footlong from Subway.
I liie it, I need more dumbass. As much as Bear Stearns sucks, $5 footlongs make it all good. Its like going winless the first 11 games, then beating bama.
I will not ignore you depressed. I would never imagine ignoring you! Your opinion matters.
Scottie, I blame Auburn's loss to the Bears of Baylor not on poorFT shooting, but on the support for bears as avatars on the HABOTN....My avatar, excluded, of course, because the tiger is about to eat the bear. And Miller's too (I think), because shooting a baby endangered polar bear at point blank range is okay.
Auburn senior tight end Gabe McKenzie was absent from Tuesday's first spring practice, but coach Gene Chizik said he was still a member of the football team.
"Right now, Gabe is on the football team," Chizik said. "We're just dealing with a couple medical issues right now that we'll work through. He'll be back out there when his things get worked out. When he's ready to get back out there, you'll know it."
Trooper looked like he had some intensity on the field, should be cool to see more from him in the future.
I'm glad to see quotes like that coming from big recruits like that. Its early in the process and what he says today has little to do with what happens next feb but its never a bad sign to have top recruits attention.
Are you in Huntsville, Jay G? I just saw a vanity license plate that said, "JAZZY JG." I figured it must be you. If not, I am sure you have some license plate envy right about now.
Did you folks see where Matt Stafford scored a 36 on his Wonderlic test, which is apparently a very impressive score. Percy Harvin made a 12, which is apparently not as impressive.
cheap
ReplyDeleteyo yo ma
ReplyDeleteFSJ has me drooling....thanks for the un-fulfillable thoughts of fried crappie fillets.
ReplyDeleteFootball football football!!!
ReplyDeleteNO DROPS!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!

WOO HOO!!! FOOTBALL!!
ReplyDeleteThey look like they need more work
ReplyDeleteLOL
JGT - Did anyone say anything about whether or not it is what they expected, not expected, a lot different..etc.?
ReplyDeleteFoul Foul Jay said 9:02 ehyou got on at 9:01
ReplyDeletecheap shot cheap shot
I'm headed down to interview players right now. I'll report back around 10 with that information.
ReplyDelete(My pesky newspaper story is messin' up my blogging schedule.)
One of my favorite vids EVER, Jay G.!!!
ReplyDelete1. I love the angle of your camera. You're so good with the camera (still and vid)
ReplyDeleteEltoro looks like he's as good as advertised.
ReplyDeletei like having the logos on the practice helmets.
ReplyDeleterockin' jgt.
Mon checking the calf factor...nice!
ReplyDeleteFootball football football!!!
ReplyDeleteAU1 - Gus is HAWT. Just the way it is. :-)
ReplyDeleteJGT - Video good. Exit music excellent. You're hip dude.
ReplyDeleteI think Kristina is in a state of shock or an echo chamber
ReplyDeleteI have new respect for the workings of Kristina's brain.
ReplyDeletei was hoping for some shots to todd pretending to throw passes...
ReplyDeletein all seriousness, i do hope his arm can recover.
Sorry...that is all I can say right now...football!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay G!
Eltoro really is a BULL.
ReplyDeleteGreat video, im pumped already and that's a bad thing...5+ months to go
jhag's insightful thoughts...
ReplyDeleteLove the higher intensity level...
These coaches seem bigger, louder, and certainly more hands on...thats Auburn football!
I liked watching Burns to McCalleb.
Burns WILL start in September.
I too am impressed with the new approach from the staff. Definitely a move in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteI am interested to hear what the players have to say
ReplyDeleteThere's something about football at night....it's special in a way I can't describe.
ReplyDeleteehyou, truer words have never been spoken. It's magical! ;-)
ReplyDeleteFootball in snow ain't too bad...if your from up north. But night beats it all.
ReplyDeleteI wonder which season Saban will finally spontaneously combust on the sideline?
ReplyDeleteJust in from the game. Tough loss. Fitting that FT's were the down fall. at the time I felt Reed should dished to someone else for that shot he was foule don, but it all happened so fast.
ReplyDeleteGood season though. At least we were talking BB up to spring practice. Not many others can say that around the country.
Jet, did you see me tonight. I was all over the camera. wife has several photos taken with cell phone of me on the air. Thankfully not doing anything to embarass myself.
ReplyDelete'sup WTC. Props to your support at the game.
ReplyDeleteWTC is that you that put the HABOTN on ESPN?
ReplyDeleteWTC were you the sign guy??
ReplyDeleteI too, am excited to hear from some of the playas!
ReplyDeleteWish it was me. I sit on row one behind the visitors head coach. Great seats except when he gets up and walks around, which is quite often.
ReplyDeleteI made about 20 games this year and looking forward to next year.
Can't wait for fball to get in full swing.
Well, I have to get to bed to ready for the fitness nazi in the morning so I'll miss the next round of updates. :-( <- That's a sad face, Depressed.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight hotties!
What a comeback by florida...
ReplyDeleteThis may not ever make a difference, but it's awesome to see the head coach coaching! Thank God.
ReplyDeleteThat is for sure EZ!
ReplyDeleteNight Mon!!
ReplyDeleteNovel concept, huh EZ?
ReplyDeleteMinor note: Wayne Bolt, former Auburn assistant under Pat Dye and Chizik assistant at ISU, has been named the Tigers' director of football operations.
ReplyDeleteThat used to be Jimmy Perry's job. He's coaching in Mobile now.
I do understand that coach Tubs had some health problems which held him back more than he let on, but it was just time for a change. For better or worse. Coach Tomlin said that "Drive" makes you great and the old regime had lost that IMO. Night all.
ReplyDeleteNice, more ISU staffers...
ReplyDeleteOn the 1st clip, the 2nd team D was yelling their frustrations over the basketball game. I kept hearing them yell "Reed" "Reed"!
ReplyDeletethey lost it when mike shula showed up and they no longer had to recruit their home state to get >50% of the top talent. tub's great recruits came from going up against dubose's (ahem) recruiting tactics and a competent fran staff.
ReplyDeletegnite
blah
ReplyDeleteJay G, are the player responses coming tomorrow? I don't mind, take your time...just curious
ReplyDeleteWooooo I did it! We were on ESPN! Long live the HOTTIES!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Matt!! My mom called me and said someone was holding up a sign at the game with that auburn website you are always on.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!!
Great WORK MATT! WE all saw it man, great stuff.
ReplyDeleteOnly the start of our world dominance
ReplyDeleteI only have Kodi right now. I'll put it up momentarily.
ReplyDeleteMatt, that was great work. I think you deserve some sort of recognition for that effort.
ReplyDeleteI have added comments from Burns -- and a few extra snippets -- to the Practice Report thread.
ReplyDeleteCheck em out.
(I didn't think we needed another practice thread.)
Thanks Jay...coaches sure have spiked optimism into these kids.
ReplyDeleteEasy, big Kodi..comparing an OC to Bowden 382-14=? wins, 2nd most ever
ReplyDelete"we're really going to actually run that tempo." After last year, the need to stress this point is obvious. Kodi sounds very pleased with the new OC. I still think he can be a good QB at Auburn. Jay, thanks again for the updates.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Jay you seem to be working non-stop today, really appreciate it, kind sir.
ReplyDeletejhag ... I think he was just saying that Malzahn is very well-known in Arkansas like how Bowden is known in Florida.
ReplyDeleteY'all have been puttin' in the time tonight as well.
ReplyDeleteThere's not much looking to the sidelines for plays.
ReplyDeleteThe end of the meer kat era!
Thanks Jay G for the updates. Didn't realize how much I missed football...
Evicted from Meerkat Manor.
ReplyDeleteNight all, we'd all be toast and in the dark about Auburn without our leader, rememba that!
ReplyDeleteComments from Neil Caudle added.
ReplyDeleteaaahhh more comments, im never leaving this place
ReplyDeleteOkay I'll quit lurking and comment:
ReplyDeleteJay, loved the practice report video and comments.
I'm really pumped about spring football. I think Chizik is bringing a LOT more energy.
I might just have to reschedule my runs at the old track to coincide with spring practice to feed my need.
Everyone and their mother is HIGH on Gus, he is like a drug or something...shoulda just made the guy Head Coach
ReplyDeleteWelcome, YoungPJ.
ReplyDeleteJay G...dude... you keep spittin out info at 11:00pm and I will never get any sleep...
ReplyDeleteKidding... thanks for the hard work.
Were you able to get any comments from Dyer by chance?
We can't talk to Dyer here.
ReplyDeleteJeffrey Lee from AuburnSports.com spoke with Dyer by phone earlier. I think the kid is very high on Auburn.
I think it's good for AU that he made the trip down in the middle of the week (assuming he's on his spring break??) to visit AU's first day of spring practice.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he's visiting any other spring practices, or any other schools...
Dyer would be a humongous GET for our program...ive heard Arky and AU are amongst his top..and mama don't line petrino :)
ReplyDeleteMarcus Lattimore also....
ReplyDeletePut up a great quote from Dr. Chris Todd, clearing up any questions you had about his surgery.
ReplyDeleteI'm out. That's a wrap.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading.
Bye.
Glad to hear they "yanked down" Elizabethtown's finest joint in his shoulder...ouchie chris
ReplyDeleteI'll post this here, too.
ReplyDeleteWhen Todd was pretending to throw, was Trott pretending to catch?
A Good Morning to all.
ReplyDeleteGuess my focus is no longer divided. Football Ho!!
Boy what alot to go through early this morning..ok..last nights loss..sigh..FTs finally got us..that being said...great year men!! I will now be watching b'ball again...been a long time..so here's to next year..WAR EAGLE...
ReplyDeleteJay-Thanks for the video..Great stuff..I know this might be premature..but from the 30 minutes of practice you watched how would you rank the QB's?
Who's the next/current RoF member that got the HABOTN some ESPN time?
Morning Hotties - it's fun to be reading and thinking about football again. "It's the sport of kings, better than diamond rings..."
ReplyDeleteTough loss for the guys last night.
Ouch. Jet, that was brutal.
ReplyDeleteGood morning and Happy Hump Day, Hotties!
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Jay G! Thanks!
Great job with the HABOTN sign at the basketball game last night, Matt! The loss was disappointing, but it was a great game. I agree with wtc - it was fitting that it came down to free throws.
Still stinging from the baskeball loss last night, but free throws have killed us all year.
ReplyDeleteWhat is worse than the free throws is the lack of D. Baylor had several easy layups and dunks in that game.
Add to that after starting off 6/12 from the three point line, we missed our next 12 3's.
Good morning, Hotties!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the best way to start a work out in Huntington, WV? By hearing a big WAR EAGLE! when you walk in the door! A professor at Marshall and sister HIT Center chick is an Auburn grad!
Jay G. Thanks for the great vid, practice report and player statements. Really, really good stuff, Daddy Bear!
Matt - If I had a vote I'd certainly name you Hottie of the Month! Great work on getting that HABOTN.COM sign on ESPN.
ReplyDeleteA professor at Marshall and sister HIT Center chick is an Auburn grad
ReplyDeleteMonica, maybe I haven't had enough coffee, but, I don't understand this sentence...
HIT Centers are health clubs. Sounds like a fellow member of hers.
ReplyDeleteShe is a professor at Marshall University and she works out at the same HIT Center as me.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.hitcenters.com/huntington_index.php
ehyoutiger - are you on Facebook?
ReplyDeleteI guess it's about time for me to make the plunge. My wife is in hard-core.
ReplyDeleteWhat up people?!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that the team is feeling more urgency. I think they completely forgot what time the game started against UAT.
ReplyDeleteehyou,
ReplyDeleteYes, it is time for you to take the Facebook plunge!
That Youtube link didn't work for me.
Former curmudgeon - out
ReplyDeleteYoung, fresh hipster - in
I'll sign up tonight.
wartiger!
ReplyDeleteI can't rank the quarterbacks based on 30 minutes. Todd wasn't even throwing ... and I spent time watching DBs, OLs, and LBs as well.
You're WAY too young to be a curmudgeon, but that is an excellent word.
ReplyDeleteI definitely had to go to the dictionary on "curmudgeon." But hey I've expanded my vocab today and it's only 9:45.
ReplyDeleteGood morning everyone... glad everyone enjoyed the sign!
ReplyDeleteJust one more benefit of HABOTN life, Seanzie.
ReplyDeleteTo balance your vocab boost, add "salacious" as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yeah, thanks Matt. That was sweetness.
ReplyDeleteThanks JGT. I now consider myself "balanced".
ReplyDeleteJay, any reason to be concerned about Gabe McKenzie? I have learned to be nervous about unexplained reasons for players not practicing. I am not asking for specifics.
ReplyDeleteshould anything on the HABOTN be 'salacious'? seems kinda kinky JG.
ReplyDeleteSalacious is a Jay G. fave.
ReplyDeleteWe had an in depth discussion on our like of the words persnickety and serendipity in my office on Monday. Riveting stuff.
I can hear it now on College Gameday....
ReplyDeleteHerbstreit: What is HABOTN? They have signs everywhere!
Corso: It must be some sort of local cult.
I'm not sure what to think about Gabe McKenzie. As I said on the blog, I saw him yesterday. I didn't get a chance to talk with him.
ReplyDeleteSome fellow beat hacks said Gabe was at the basketball game, which I found odd ... since football practice was happening concurrently.
p.s. serendipity is a great word and a great phenomenon.
I'm still trying to learn my symbols. Can you do new words next week?
ReplyDeleteI think everything here is salacious.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone ever met a salacious curmudgeon?
ReplyDeleteJay, thanks. Something seems a little strange on the Gabe front, I hope I'm reading too much into the situation.
ReplyDeleteSerendipitosity is a virtue.
ReplyDeletesounds like Chiz and the staff made one heck of an impression of top RB prospect Michael Dyer. he couldn't stop giving AU praise:
ReplyDelete"It was my favorite place that I've visited. I ranked the visits that I've taken so far and Auburn came out at the top. That's my favorite spot."
She is a professor at Marshall University and she works out at the same HIT Center as me.
ReplyDeleteMuch better! Thanks, Monica. After I read that I went and reread the first one and it made more sense!
When Trooper Taylor yelled, "Shut up!" on the video I was scared of talking for the next 10 minutes or so. I'm still a little nervous about it right now.
ReplyDeleteI think it can be said of current practice compared to previous that "play time is over".
ReplyDeleteJayy G.
ReplyDeleteVery Nice Video......
my dog peed on the floor when I was playing that video. not sure what that means, but it has me uber excited.
ReplyDeleteAround 11:30 last night, Mrs. Jet got out of bed to see what the racket was in the living room.
ReplyDeleteTurboProp and I were doing up-downs in the living room, yelling "No drops!"
OK, not really. But we wanted to.
NO DROPS!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletefeels good, don't it?
Every time I start getting optimistic, I just start thinking about last offseason, one of the most optimistic offseason's in the history of man. Boy Tony Franklin, you really did a number on me. Can I ever learn to love again?
ReplyDeleteGood words:
ReplyDeletevitriol
invective
vehement
ubiquitous
virulent
And the one my Grandma used (that I don't think is a word):
snippity
... as in "Don't get snippity with me, young man."
YES! Spring Practice Vids are BACK! i can finally sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteJay G = THE MAN!
Seanzie ...
ReplyDeleteI'd say I'm a son of a salacious curmudgeon.
"The biggest difference is tempo. We're really going to actually run that tempo."
ReplyDeleteDidn't we hear that last spring about how the offense is going to wear other teams down?
Our offense last year was like the hypnotist that looked at the watch and put himself into the trance.
ReplyDeleteRK, I agree that sounds painfully familiar, but AU now has a OC and HC who are on the same page(as far as we know.) I still don't think the offense we saw at the beginning of the season last year( and for sure later in the season) was the offense Franklin wanted to run. ReplyDeleteIt's good not to see TT on the sideline feeling sorry for himself and looking defeated. I hated that drill you got of el toro when i was playing. Our coach let us get one step in though.
ReplyDeleteOMG, breaking news: TF and TT were not on the same page, the players were confused, and it all exploded into suck.
ReplyDeleteHow many more ways can this be explained and how many more arguments can this be applied to?
Cleaning up a few issues ...
ReplyDelete1. WTC, got home from a speech about 15 minutes left in the game. Did see you get some air time.
2. I want a large Jay G head (or at least a Trooper head) to wave around at games.
3. Jhag ... the Bolt hire is ... old school. I like it. He "gets" it.
...and two people on a dirt bike on the highway is dumb.
ReplyDeletePF ...
ReplyDeleteThe Tony Franklin System -- based on credit default swaps -- caused Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers to fail, and led to the bailouts of AIG, Citi, the automakers, and also led to the $5 footlong from Subway.
i know i missed something yesterday, but what's the deal with all the bear profile pics?
ReplyDeletesigned,
clueless
PF, I never claimed it was breaking news. Feel free to ignore if you wish.
ReplyDeleteI liie it, I need more dumbass. As much as Bear Stearns sucks, $5 footlongs make it all good. Its like going winless the first 11 games, then beating bama.
ReplyDeleteMonica you got a rivals scoop on Dyer for me??? :)
ReplyDeleteHe "loved" his visit!!
"TF and TT were not on the same page, the players were confused, and it all exploded into suck.
ReplyDeleteHow many more ways can this be explained and how many more arguments can this be applied to?"
One more time and at least one more argument.
Geez, it was a joke.
I will not ignore you depressed. I would never imagine ignoring you! Your opinion matters.
ReplyDeleteScottie, I blame Auburn's loss to the Bears of Baylor not on poorFT shooting, but on the support for bears as avatars on the HABOTN....My avatar, excluded, of course, because the tiger is about to eat the bear. I wonder if Gabe has a medical issue that docs can treat? I hope it's not a medical issue like the one Josh Dollard had.
ReplyDeleteLooked like COACHING going on. Very Nice..and in the words of the furlough hatin JGT "I ain't saying whether that is good or bad".
ReplyDeleteScottie - I changed my avatar to a bear to scare Harrison.
ReplyDeletePer Jeff Lee @ auburnsports.com Dyer said:
ReplyDelete"I really enjoyed Auburn," he said. "I really loved it, actually. Everything was great. Everybody was great. I really enjoyed it there. I really did.
"It was my favorite place that I've visited. I ranked the visits that I've taken so far and Auburn came out at the top. That's my favorite spot."
So is Gabe our 2009 Chaz Ramsey?
ReplyDeleteim so happy...
ReplyDeleteim so happy...

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see quotes like that coming from big recruits like that. Its early in the process and what he says today has little to do with what happens next feb but its never a bad sign to have top recruits attention.

ReplyDeleteWe want Dyer! Auburn is his to spot after visiting Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Florida... Wow have never heard that one before
Yeah, I hate recruiting news, but even I am impressed after seeing the list of places he's already visited.
ReplyDeleteAre you in Huntsville, Jay G? I just saw a vanity license plate that said, "JAZZY JG." I figured it must be you. If not, I am sure you have some license plate envy right about now.
ReplyDeleteDid you folks see where Matt Stafford scored a 36 on his Wonderlic test, which is apparently a very impressive score. Percy Harvin made a 12, which is apparently not as impressive.

ReplyDeletelike you know who.
Jay- I figured I'd get that response on the QBs question but just thought I'd ask...thanks for responding tho..
ReplyDeleteSHUT UP AND MOVE!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNO DROPS ---
I'm in love with a coach!
