Radio Appearance Forthcoming

Hey everyone. I'm going to fill in for Doug Amos today during the WMSP afternoon show. We'll be discussing plenty of Auburn-related topics because, you know, that's what I do.

The show runs from noon-2 CDT.

In Montgomery, tune into AM 740.

You outliers (ok, that's most of you) can stream the program here: http://www.sportsradio740.com

See you afterward for some pre-NIT chatter. Jeff Lebo speaks with the media at 2:15 p.m. CDT.

  1. I second that thought.

    ReplyDelete
  2. won't be able to tune in today, but I'm sure it'll be great....

    ReplyDelete
  3. morning hotties.

Jay Geezy, I picked up a copy on NBA Live 09 last week for the 360. Ite pretty sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Jay G, you're like that guy who always tells you what the gift is before it's given, ruining the suspense and surprise. I hate suspense.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Good morning Hotties. What about Lady Vols going down BIG time. I knew this was not the usual Vol team but that was a shocker. Go Auburn Ladies and Mens team.

    ReplyDelete
  6. there ever been a better basketball (video) game than NBA JAM? Booooommmmshakalakaaaa!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Spring football...I can smell it in the air...and then start sneezing because of all the pollen!

    ReplyDelete
  8. He's heating up... HE'S ON FIRE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. So, did the 2009-10 University of Tennessee at Ob-Knoxville (sorry, Scottie B) women's hoops off-season conditioning program begin at 12:01 a.m. today?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yes and drill sargent Pat is scremming her head off.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Pat and me are through. Losing in the first round is not sexy.

    ReplyDelete
  12. What adisappointing weekend for the baseball team. I had hoped we would be different this year. Win against lower class teams pre-SEC and then go into the tamk.

    ReplyDelete
  13. NBA JAM! Man, that game was awesome. It was hard to beat the Stockton & Malone combo. Minnesota also had Chuck "The Rifleman" Person.

    ReplyDelete
  14. One of history's great disappointments was when NBA Jam came out on Genesis but didn't have Shaq in it. The arcade version had Shaq!

    ReplyDelete
  15. no doubt eh--that stockton..malone combo is the reason I am a Jazz fan now..

    ReplyDelete
  16. did anyone see pat summit's interview on espn during the selection show?

she was talking about how today's players lacked the internal drive and motivation etc. that some of her other championship teams had and how it was more difficult to communicate with them now because they are more about "me" and don't like coaching.

then the camera switched back to the shot of her surrounded by her players and they were all kind of looking at each other like, "so that's how she really feels about us." not that she wasn't right... all those gals were considered the best of the best and probably never heard anything else until day one of practice at UT.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I hate Karl Malone but I have mad respect for John Stockton because he kept it old school with the length of the inseam on his game shorts.

    ReplyDelete
  18. shesaid likes the short shorts

    ReplyDelete
  19. Michael,

This is the kind of criteria that make up whether or not a like an athlete. Has nothing to do with how good they may or may not be. Does it make me shallow? Absolutely, but I don't care. :)

For example, I hate Tyler Hansbrough because he has the "crazy eyes."

    ReplyDelete
  20. Do you think Stockton wears regular shorts that short also? And do you think his swim trunks are also that short? These are the questions I need answers to.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Shesaid, I bet you hate watching Tenn men's team play b-ball then. Longest shorts ever (oxymoron). During the NCAAs one of the announcers kept saying Chism looked like he was playing in his pajamas.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tyler Hansbrough has that perpetual look of someone that just had a fly go up his nose.

    ReplyDelete
  23. jhag you look bored

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wait , chicks don't like the crazy eyes? Boy, I would have had a lot more success with the ladies over the years if I had known that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jhag ... for those of us 40somethings who live boring lives ... how was football practice? Did DMiller show up with the DMiller System offense? Or did offensive line coach Peter Frankenschmidt and running backs coach Michael undermine him from the get-go? We know wide receiver coach Harrison was basically useless. You don't have to tell us that.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Will, you are correct. I hate watching Tennessee play. I'm sure you wouldn't be surprised to know that Hoosiers is one of my favorite movies of all time.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think the shorts are longer nowadays to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. If John Stockton's heydey was in HD, you wouldn't want to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  28. UT has an interesting collection of characters(coaching-wise) with Summit, Kiffin, and Bruce Pearl. Throw "Big O" Orgeron in the mix and there should never be a dull moment in Knoxville.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Shesaid, the other night when we got up on Tulsa in the last few mins, I looked out on the floor and we had put Jake Drum and Drew Smith in. Tulsa had four guys on the floor who had a similar skin tone as Drum and Smith. A guy behind me said, "What the H is this, Hoosiers II?" It was pretty funny.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jet, the DMiller system is just nuts. I just want to line up and hit people in the mouth. Not literally, because then you would get a personal foul called on you, but you know, make helmets hit each other and stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous11:35 AM

shesaid, I saw yesterday on our bracket challenge that you had moved up to 2nd (or 3rd - I can't remember and I can't check it here at work) place at one point. Way to go!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jet- football practice gotin the way of my tee time. I think my message of get open and catch the ball was heard by my recievers anyway. It's not that hard

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anonymous11:38 AM

Harrison, you are doing excellent on the bracket challenge too. Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  34. thanks luv. but it's just a teaser.I will never ever win one.
Does it make you guys think I am really smart?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous11:40 AM

Absolutely, Harrison! I was disappointed to see that michael had slipped.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous11:42 AM

well, either that or you're a really good guesser!

    ReplyDelete
  37. nope. I am really smart

    ReplyDelete
  38. My genius will be shown by the end of things. I will be shocked it I don't win the whole darn thing. Shocked I tell ya!

    ReplyDelete
  39. The comment on Hansbrough made me think of my observation on Notre Dame's Luke Harangody, he looks like the missing O'Doyle brother from Billy Madison.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous11:53 AM

michael, you might have tough time because Gnome has been holding steady at #1.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This bracket challenge has shown who luv really loves and who she could care less about.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just a quick one on spring practice - do you think they're going to have the qb's and receivers do more than that little quick step at around half speed before they throw and/or catch at half speed? I understand its practice and by no means am I a football source, but it seemed odd that that wasthe only footage we got from Jay last year, and I'm still not sure if that was the "system" or just warming up.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous12:00 PM

That has nothing to do with it, PF. Before it started, Harrison said he'd be at the bottom and here he is close to the top. michael said he'd be the winner and he has slipped down to 20-something.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well, I mentioned that I was participating.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous12:05 PM

If my oh-so-wonderful (NOT!) memory serves me, you had started out slow, but you made a surge during the second round.

    ReplyDelete
  46. negative. I suck. that's pretty much it.

and Jhag called me an SEC homer for picking MissState to win some, but he failed to see that I picked LSU to lose in the first round.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous12:09 PM

I can't check it at work, but I could have sworn you moved up.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous12:14 PM

I was also surprised to see that Jet wasn't doing so well.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm not surprised at myself, I suck at brackets. I had a few decent picks but I outguessed myself this year.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks for the shout out Luv! I haven't even had the heart to check it so I was unaware of any temporary success.

Will, that's hilarious. I'd love it if they had a Hoosiers II but I don't think Gene Hackman's got another one in him.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Luv,

    I'm just pacing myself.

I only have 12 of the final 16, 7 of my 8 and all of my Final Four.

    Translated, I'm toast.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous12:48 PM

That doesn't sound like you're toast.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous12:49 PM

Good work on the RT today.

I have archive of it if any of you want. Email me.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It's "could NOT care less" hotties.

Prowler, I love your tiger avatar. It's so prowlerish.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Monica,

    I could care less.

Your being persnickety about the use of words and language. Its annoying.

    Just joshin' ya.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Jet - Just because you're ill about your daughter having a boyfriend is no reason to be mean to me.

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  57. i've enjoyed the HABOTN radio so far. fantastic as always.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I find "could care less" a perfectly acceptable sarcastic version of the phrase "I couldn't care less", and it has been present in American language since at least the 1960's.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If I see any of that chopping the feet while dropping back and lobbing the ball halfassed this spring I'm gonna throw up

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jet,
In response to you "economic stimulus" comment from the last thread...
I typically believe in the same type of stimulus... And would be all for hiring some to lay the tile (and paint too)... But, when my own money is tight, I gotta vut back somewhere... So, it looks like I have to do it myself this time.
I would, however, rethink that position if you were to feel so strongly about the economic stimulus needs as to pay for the work to be done yourself... It would be a nice gesture, and would help out tremendously. It would also leave me with much more HABOTN time over the next month or so.

    ReplyDelete
  61. 'Buggy business'. nice JG.

    ReplyDelete
  62. If Josh believes what he's saying, then someone get him to a hospital to treat his closed head injury.

    ReplyDelete
  63. josh,,,quit rehashing the TT era...let's move on

    ReplyDelete
  64. Jay G doing a great job on the radio. He is really laying out the truth on CTT and his recruiting "efforts."

    ReplyDelete
  65. Poor Hag is having a bad day. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  66. I agree with whatever WEG is saying even though I'm not listening to the program.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Depressed - Big Love was C-R-A-Z-Y, huh? They left some great stuff for next season.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  69. thanks Mon! I can only take so much of Josh and his negativity. He thinks he's Paul Finebaum!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Bag is fine. it was pretty funny listening to JGT correct him on the Chizik 'recruiting nationally' deal. :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Monica, the Big Love season finale was fantastic! Do you think Roman is really dead? And what will it mean to have Nikki's daughter in the Family? I am sorry I missed you after the show last night, but I stated that Big Love ending makes me feel like I do when football season ends.

    ReplyDelete
  72. who is this calling Jay out? must be a bammer

    ReplyDelete
  73. The caller broke out the "did you ever play basketball" line.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The answer to that question is ALWAYS, "I was the point guard on the 1978 Indiana State team."

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think he has some legitimate points regarding Lebo.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm not sure Jeff Lebo even lived in Chattanooga when he coached UTC. Nobody ever saw him out anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Did this guy say Lebo brought fundamentals in?

    Free throws?

Jacking 3's every time down the court?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jim just got very defensive...how can he not know who Jay is if he is a real fan?

    ReplyDelete
  79. As one who is FIRMLY OFF the Lebo Bandwagon (since we are 11-2 after I jumped off) ...

    Lebo's problems:

    1. With the exception of Frankie Sullivan, has not made necessary inroads recruiting instate -- particularly as UAT was starting to crumble across the way.

    2. Does not do the necessary things to market the program.

Please note that I didn't include the FT shooting, which I don't see as much as coaching, but as a mental block that has spread among the team.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I like red delicious apples. Cliche I know, but they are so darn good.

    ReplyDelete
  81. WEG,
He had know clue who out Gran Poo-PA is! he better recognize!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I still think AU has been winning lately despite Lebo.

A beat writer wonderlic would be a great idea! It would also be pretty dang hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Boxhead - what about just plain red apples? Your thoughts on those?

    ReplyDelete
  84. D. Miller,
I bet a lot of Bammer Beat writers fail.... they have a box maked agree totally with Saban... Yes or No?

    ReplyDelete
  85. From someone who has not lived in the Gump that long...
I am intrigued about the story behind why JGT got kicked off the ASU campus. Spill it.

    ReplyDelete
  86. If it is just a plain red apple without any hints of green or yellow, then it is most likely of the red delicious variety. So, my thoughts on plain red apples mimic my thoughts on red delicious apples.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I love Gala Apples!

Dmiller, I think the guys are defintely "junk yard dogs" that want to win despite Lebo

I've got my tickets for Tues nite...anyone else?!

    ReplyDelete
  88. About recruiting bball players in state: do we have a lot of top recruits coming about of alabama?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous1:47 PM

Just so we all know, Jay G. doesn't think we are hot. At least, not as hot as Jenna Fisher or whoever. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Well that's just wrong. I for one am very hot.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I was disappointed to hear that Jay and the other reporters would not be allowed to watch practices. I can understand a coach restricting who is allowed to watch, but why should the reporters even show up if all they can do is repeat what the coach tells them(a la Saban)? That becomes a PR event rather than reporting doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I feel slighted... Slightly.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I am extremely hot.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I can accurate spell hot 96% of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  95. 60% of the time, it works every time.

    ReplyDelete
  96. His name is "humpty", pronounced with an "umpty".

    ReplyDelete
  97. LOL Depressed you're great!
I'm tempted to think Roman isn't dead because they want us to think he is! HA However, that actor looks terrible and I think is in poor health. So...
As far as Nikki's daughter it's just another happy family member. HA
I think Bill deciding to start his own church is a HOOT and opens up at least 3 more season worth of material!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Fuji > all other apples

    ReplyDelete
  99. And we do have some HOT hotties. That's all I'm saying about that.

    ReplyDelete
  100. great radio work today JG. the "Humpty Dance" sing-a-long was worth the listen. ha.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Francis McMoron is hot.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Harrison wears Sex Panther very often. It's quite pungent!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I have to agree with Mon on the Fuji. Not necessarily the "prettiest" but mighty tasty.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Thanks for the avatar comment earlier, Mon!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Really though, I think we can all agree that I'm the hottest of the hot.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Fuji and gala are both good choices. Certainly sexier picks than the red delicious variety.

    ReplyDelete
  107. you guys sure know your apples

    ReplyDelete
  108. Jay G, great job on the radio show. First time I have listened, it was very entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  109. "You like apples?"

    "How 'bout them apples?"

    ReplyDelete
  110. Jet- I agree with you about Lebo. I'm happy that we are better this year, but my long term feeling about Lebo as Auburn's coach is still icy cold.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I like peaches.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I like rice...it's really good if you're hungry and you want to eat a thousand of something.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I've never really thought of apples as sexy.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Now peaches are sexy

    ReplyDelete
  115. Thanks for listening!

I generally keep it pretty real on the radio. Probably only appeals to a certain percentage of the Auburn population.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Prowler- I saw Mitch Hedberg right before he died. Hilarious

    ReplyDelete
  117. Have you all ever heard Chizik say he was going to start recruiting nationally?

    I've heard just the opposite.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Harrison - did you see him on the Comedy Central tour with Dave Attell and Lewis Black?

    ReplyDelete
  119. i guess you would consider the Hotties that 'percentage', eh?

we are quite a strange brew, aren't we?!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Harrison, I got to see him twice...once at the Stardome in the Ham and once in Auburn. I believe he died shortly after the Auburn show. He was freakin' hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  121. no he was in b'ham one night with Chris Porter (of last comic standing, not coked-up bball player).

I do love Lewis Black though

    ReplyDelete
  122. never heard Chizzle say anything like that JG. ????

    ReplyDelete
  123. Chris Porter was pretty dang funny too! I would like to see him again!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Hedberg is awesome. Attell was on fire when I saw the three of them in Atl several years back

    ReplyDelete
  125. Jay, everything I have heard Chizik say about recruiting was that they were going to emphasize the SE region, especially Alabama.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Evidently the USFL is coming back. Aren't some things better left to die?

    ReplyDelete
  127. I've heard the same thing depressed.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I don't like turtlenecks.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'm glad big love is over. If I was to compare it to BBQ, I would say it is Sonny's.

    ReplyDelete
  130. What is sexy about a peach?

I though Chiz said they were going to use their current relationships (that would be national) and I thought I read/heard him make a statement about recruiting in Texas. Maybe that was one of the Asst's.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Never heard Chizik say anything about national recruiting. It was my understanding that the out-of-region guys this year were a byproduct of asst. coaches previous contacts.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Happy Birthday Michael4AU!!!

    ReplyDelete
  133. i've known many a Georgia Peach who were sexy Monnie! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  134. Jay, your co-host had a view of AU football that I think people who don't really follow the program closely would share. This program has been in a downward trend for the last two years. The change was not made just because of the Bama loss(although it certainly helped the decision) as you pointed out.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Jay G,

I recall one occasion where he indicated he would cast a wider net, but prior to that event and after it, he has maintained the "Alabama first" program.

I expect he will cast a net in areas where we haven't been.

The real issue is the energy level, which had been lacking from the top. Josh's comments regarding this were bewildering.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I heard Hedberg's last show in Auburn was a bit of a disaster. Believe it or not, he may have been on too many drugs.

I loved him though. He was hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  137. The Alabama loss was a small part of the equation.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Gotta go. Peace out, Hot ones!

    ReplyDelete
  139. It's interesting to hear that this is still a pertinent subject. Not having heard the show (yay firewalls) is this still being rehashed by Alabma or Auburn faithful?

    ReplyDelete
  140. ohhh "Georgia Peach" Gottcha...

    Bye Prowler :-)

    ReplyDelete
  141. How big was the amount of time being put into the program by the previous staff and the excitement level of the team being put on the field the past 3 or so years?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Yeah, Happy Birthday Michael4AU. I guess I will wish you happy birthday first before you wish me happy anniversary, since your's came first!

    ReplyDelete
  143. I tire of seeing comics who I already know all of their jokes, so I left early, but I remember thinking that MH was really messed up during that Auburn show.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I just wrote a long note about Chizik's ISU experience, then thought it's a little too wordy. I love Auburn! War Eagle! nuff said

    ReplyDelete
  145. Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Eddie! WDE

    ReplyDelete
  146. did anybody see this about the Ball State QB? i copied from a rivals.com story.

What if they held a pro day and nobody came? Such was nearly the fate of early exiting Ball State quarterback Nate Davis on Friday, when only the Indianapolis Colts showed up to watch him throw to various Cardinal receivers on BSU's home field, and that probably only because it wasn't much of a drive for them.

    ReplyDelete
  147. This is a good interview:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKXZFyTsfhw

    ReplyDelete
  148. That's harsh, Smoothie...

    ReplyDelete
  149. Captain - they should've put that interview out of its' misery.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I am an originally a Ga Peach so of course I think we are all HOT

    ReplyDelete
  151. What do y'all think about having a Hotties Poker Tournament online?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Homemade peach ice cream
    Peach cobbler
Fried peach pies from The Varsity.

Then there's them other peaches, too.

    Yum.

    ReplyDelete
  153. You can't or no Hottie can or both? Help me.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Don't make me take all of your money...

    ReplyDelete
  155. I don't play poker. I'm too feeble-minded.

    ReplyDelete
  156. The only way today's weather could be any more georgeous is if scantily clad co-eds were wandering around.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Have you ever played professional poker, Jay? If not, I don't think you are qualified to comment on your own poker skill level.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Where/when would this poker take place? (I know online.... More specific)
Real buy in or fake chips? Lose chips or clothes if you lose a hand?

    ReplyDelete
  159. Oh lawd..

    Please no clothes....no clothes!

    ReplyDelete
  160. Jet you talking about The Varsity in Atlant. If so I hung out htere in my youth.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Faker have you played through Facebook?

    ReplyDelete
  162. I have not Monica...

    ReplyDelete
  163. Strip Poker or Pay to learn?

    ReplyDelete
  164. Not real money.
Through Facebook or Myspace. They both take you to Zynga and you can set up private tables.
    Texas Hold 'Em
We'll have to come up with other stellar prizes like the HABOTN tshirt.

When? I don't know yet. Miller didn't you say Tuesday nights were a good night?

    ReplyDelete
  165. And what would it matter if it were strip poker ONLINE? You can all show up and play naked if that will make you feel better. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  166. They let you set up tables and play for monopoly money?

    ReplyDelete
  167. Yea strip poker is out that wouldn't be any fun

    ReplyDelete
  168. I'll offer up my Bill Curry autographed football if anyone wants it...

Currently it is in the back yard with the dog

    ReplyDelete
  169. Typically I am out of town on Tuesday and/or Wednesday nights this time of year (March through December).
I am usually in remote parts of the world (Alabama) with no interwebs access.
Thursday nights generally would work best.. Possibly Monday nights.

    ReplyDelete
  170. No offense...

But there are too many dudes here to play strip poker..

    ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  171. Way to step up, Faker.

    Monday nights might be good.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Bill Curry wasn't he one of Bama's greatest coaches? Pct wise

    ReplyDelete
  173. anyone going to the game tues?

    ReplyDelete
  174. Faker,
Someone gave me a Curry autographed picture one time.... I think I used it on a dart board.

No, that was the bear bryant autograph pic I hung on the dart board.... Not sure what happened to the Curry one.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Bill Curry was a joke....

He just proves that just about anybody can have a winning record at Alabama.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Faker do you have a framed Bear anything near your computer?

    ReplyDelete
  177. Faker, like my uncle Rick used to say (before he went to jail), there are never too many dudes to play strip poker.

    ReplyDelete
  178. I bet Uncle Rick is very popular.

    ReplyDelete
  179. I am only play strip poker wth wifey and her friends/sorority sisters.

  183. I usually play strip poker against my dog, because I automatically win since he is already naked. I love winning.

  187. So, I just went back and read my RoF induction ceremony post, and realized that I'm supposed to be hosting some sort of annual Hottie House Party. Probably have missed the best part of the year to do that (when it's 80 degrees here, and there's snow on the ground everywhere else), but I'll see what I can do. Maybe a virtual tour of my abode why you all sit in your own respective places drinking cocktails. Of course, my doors are usually open to most of you. Z4Z is only welcome to the virtual tour until we find out his story.

I also have an Antonio Langham autograph from about two hours before he signed with the agent that led to our first probation...

If I'd only kicked him in the knees.
