Tuesday schedule update

Hey everyone. The rain we're seeing in central Alabama can't stop a round of Auburn football interviews.

A select group of players, including the surprisingly esteemed Craig Stevens, will be available around 4 p.m. CDT. I'll be providing notes and a video afterward ... hopefully no later than 5:30.

I'm scouting a 6-year-old striker in Montgomery at 6:30, so, you know, I'll be efficient.

I'm with you on the Craig Stevens - really? train, by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Is it too early for a drink?......

    ReplyDelete
  4. Never, Faker, never

    ReplyDelete
  5. Exactly Sensi. Everyone just says his arms are long. Really? A T-Rex's arms were tiny and they managed to be pretty ferocious beasts. I need more...how do we say at the HABOTN....substance for me to get on the Craig Stevens bandwagon.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Will likey drinky

    ReplyDelete
  7. Tre Smith took the short arm capabilities of T Rex and got as college degree out of the deal. He also changed some game or something for Pontiac.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Nice T-rex reference she said. Maybe Stevens has real sharp teeth and a nasty temperement.

Will likey drinky and gets touchy feely

    ReplyDelete
  9. Keep a bottle in my desk for just an occasion, Faker.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lunchtime's kicking into overdrive now.

Yeah, and Trey Blackmon was a wrecking ball.

On the field and in the classroom apparently.

The Little Ball of Hating Rules

    ReplyDelete
  12. I am a wrecking ball of love.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Is this six year old the next Mia Hamm?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous12:41 PM

michael, is that a good thing or a bad thing? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's the only woman soccer player I've ever heard of, so I went with it. I don't even know if she's a striker. Hell, I don't even know WHAT a striker is. It sounds dangerous.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Doug amos just said that bama puts more into basketball than auburn has lately because of the grant hire even though we are building a new arena and practice facilities. That's just plain dumb.
    Typical.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anonymous12:50 PM

Lawdy .....lawdy, we got fans over on Al.com predicting 12-0 if there are no injuries.

Those same guys will be screaming mad if we only go 8-4. Is that due to subconscious embarassment?

I do agree that the cupboard is not completely bare. Need more OL. Have a bunch of WR...gotta train some of them up.

    ReplyDelete
  18. can't wait for football. These old playoff games aren't doin much for me on the nfl network.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anonymous1:14 PM

So, the way it is right now, Pybus is a started??? Not bad, considering he was the last recruit to be offered a scholly last year. Good for him (or bad for us)! Guess we'll just have to wait and see. ONly 6 LB's on the depth chart??? OUCH!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jay GT- wow. I never cease to be impressed with how much better your coverage is than the other beat writers. A few of the others are good, but you seem to be a special breed. Thanks for the updates this week.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pybus is the starter according to the internets... I will be slightly surprised if he is the actual starter at the beginning of the season. I think he will get a lot playing time, though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I actually have been impressed with Stevens's play. He hasn't made the BIG plays, but I recall him being around the ball a lot. I'm old and my memory may be faulty.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hope Pybus makes gargantuan strides forward for his sophomore year.

    ReplyDelete
  24. shesaid, your name now is in lights on the blog front. Well played.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I cannot imagine a 2009 world where Spencer Pybus is a starter.

They'll move Freeman to weak side before that happens.

    ReplyDelete
  26. tain - if you read it on the Internets, you know it must be true.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Luv-
    Dr Habotn/THT says hello.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This 6-year-old has more of a Kristine Lilly game ... a passer with excess energy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Six Mix-a-Lot once said: "I've got a dope posse; you've got a bunch of dudes."

    ReplyDelete
  30. tain is a pretty good nickname, gatiger. I'll take it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Where the heck has THT been?

    ReplyDelete
  32. if you happen to wear an AU uniform in 2009, you have a shot at playing time at LB. AU's best LB is probably going to be starting for Ole Miss in 2009.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yea, where is THT?

    Talk about burning out quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Pybus won't start. No. Way. That. Happens.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks for the love, Jay. Made my day. Thanks for giving me an extra medium to criticize 18-22 year old athletes (whom I know nothing about) mercilessly and without a hint of shame.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Last summer, I would have said, "Pybus won't play a meaningful snap. No. Way. That. Happens."

The things is, eltoro could be a bust, then we are one injury or so away from Pybus being a starter if last years pecking order stays the same.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i'll bet petey smith is kicking himself now being only one of the 74 LBs on the UA roster. another recruit jobbed by the $aban sales pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  38. shesaid, you will be responsible if Stevens fails this year because of shattered confidence. We already know the players read the blog. Tommy Trott got all upset about something that was written about him last year. So way to go. Way to kill our chances this year!

I've been meaning to ask this for awhile now...where the hell has he been???

    ReplyDelete
  40. can chris tood bulk up and play linebacker?

    ReplyDelete
  41. If Pybus starts, Jet starts drainkin'

    ReplyDelete
  42. Michael sed sumpin' bad 'bout Eltoro ... evahbody beat da crap outta Michael

    ReplyDelete
  43. only if todd pretends to tackle can he be an effective LB.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I bet Petey Smith is kicking himself for showing up at spring practice as a fat tub of lard competing with 74 in shape linebackers, too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Why couldn't Kodi play LB? Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  46. So, is the Calipari deal in the books yet? If reports are true, he'll be making more than most college football coaches. That's ridiculous money.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Michael, I will take full responsibility if Stevens does a major FAIL this season. I've taken responsibility for every single Auburn loss since I can remember anyway. "I should have worn my other tennis shoes to the game. I should have gotten a hot dog and coke before the game. I didn't scream loud enough." Don't we all have to be masochists to be Auburn fans anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  48. D Miller ...

    UK hoops = UAT football

Desperate enough to spend 4 million a year. We'll see how it works for them.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have never thought Stevens was the standout star. But, he's solid. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes and he's always around the ball. That's as good as we've had since Dansby.

    ReplyDelete
  50. steven's isn't in the same zip code as dansby on a bad day. can he be? maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Bracketologist Miller ...

Have you determined who is going to win the contest based on the possible outcomes?

    UConn over UNC
    UNC over UConn
    Mich. State over UNC
    UNC over Mich. State
    Villanova over Mich. State
    Mich. State over Villanova
    UConn over Villanova
    Villanova over UConn

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jet, there's a scenario generator on the site that will give you final points for every outcome.

    ReplyDelete
  53. LB recruiting has not been much better than OL recruiting. It is amazing to look at the depth chart and see how thin some of the positions are. It would be nice to see some commitments after A-Day weekend. Anyone see much chance of that happening?

    ReplyDelete
  54. They are making a good point on the roundtable.
Despite the record this year... Why are people excited about Lebo as the basketball coach? 80-76 in 5 years. 28-51 in the SEC over those 5 years. I don't get it. I don't see what people see to say he's such a great coach.
Count me in the boat, maybe I am the only one, that would not be heart broken in the least if some other school made the mistake of hiring Lebo away from AU. I think AU basketball can be better, and should expect to be better than a 2 game NIT run once every 5 years.

    ReplyDelete
  55. howdy peeps. so, who is in the running for the title of '2009 HABOTN BRACKET CHAMPION'? mine sucks so bad i haven't checked. i'm itchin' to put this logo on a t-shirts! i've been crazy busy here.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hornet- Sorry I had to leave for a while or I would have given you the link.

ehyou thanks for providing the link

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous1:59 PM

Speaking of our bracket challenge...I hadn't checked it in awhile because was shot to he** when Memphis lost. After Memphis lost, so did most of my other picks. Anyway, I see our fearless leader has crept into 1st place! Way to go Jay G!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I never said that Stevens was as good as Dansby. I said he's been as good as any we have had since Dansby. That's not necessarily saying a whole lot.

    Jet,
I have not run the scenarios, yet. I thouht I might give an update later this week as we prepare for the Final 4.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous2:00 PM

    D. Miller, I agree 100%. I have never been on the Lebo bandwagon.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Luv, why would you get on a poorly constructed bandwagon? You're liable to hurt yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonymous2:04 PM

shesaid is still hangin' in - tied for 10th.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks, PF

Must check out ... when I get home ... Big Bro stops me

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anonymous2:04 PM

    ehyou, exactly! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  64. It has to be more like a midget clown car rather than a full fledged bandwagon.

    ReplyDelete
  65. So, who has Masters Tickets they can't use? I need 2.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Jet still has a chance. Amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  67. The brackets were not rigged.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Mich St and North Carloina win, NC wins: Jay G

Mich St and NC win, Mich St wins: Jay G

Mich St and Villanova, Mich St champ: Scranton Party

Mich St and Nova, Nova Champ: Bear82

Nova and UCONN, Nova Champ: Bear82

Nova and UCONN: UCONN Champ: AUWade

UCONN and UNC, UCONN Champ: Jet

UCONN and UNC, UNC Champ: Tigerfan44

    ReplyDelete
  69. I filled out another bracket for another pool and I picked all 4 teams that made it to the Final Four. Kicking myself for not just using the same one for the HOTTIES pool. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous2:17 PM

And that t-shirt would have looked good on you too, right, shesaid?

    ReplyDelete
  71. So glad I did not post my bracket
Being a homer and picking an SEC team in the final four
    and
a cinderella to win it I would have been out like a fat boy in dodge ball

    ReplyDelete
  72. One of those shirts would have looked good on me too. Alas, I don't have a snowballs chance in tuscloosa.

    ReplyDelete
  73. my bet is on Tigerfan 44

    ReplyDelete
  74. It would have. Although I managed to get order one when they became available, anything's better when it's free. Food tastes better, clothes fit better, and beer tastes colder when it's free.

    ReplyDelete
  75. ahhh........ cold beer. i REALLY need one of those today.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jet:

    Re: your post above...

UK basketball is very similar to UA football..In fact Rick Pitino compared it to Notre Dame and Alabama football in his press conference the other day.

No matter what we paid for Saban and company, I would say we got a bargain at this point in time.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Same here she said. I am killing in the pool Jason and Will and I are in

    ReplyDelete
  78. Off topic: It's a-stormin in Lower Alabama. It's so bad that it's white-capping in the road outside my house. I hope my car floats.

    ReplyDelete
  79. FSJ, that's a whole lot of gravy with no chicken to speak of...Just Sayin'

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well..hope your car floats too shesaid.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Go tie a bunch of milk jugs and bottles to it she said. I saw Bear Grylls do this to make a raft.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Did you ever see the stories about how Bear sometimes stays in hotels when he is acting like he is camping?

    ReplyDelete
  83. yep, I saw those, then suddenly there was a discalimer before his next shows about "certain situatons" presented to Bear to show what to do just in case.
Hardly anyone can do some of the things he does

    ReplyDelete
  84. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sometimes I use a stunt double to post for me on HABOTN. Should I make a disclaimer?

    ReplyDelete
  86. I refuse to believe Bear Grylls is a fraud. I watched him drink his own urine. He peed on a t-shirt and wrapped it around his head once. No way he stays in a Holiday Inn Express. His name is BEAR GRYLLS for goodness sake!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I pee on stuff all the time. When do I get my own TV show?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Michael just outted himself as Z4Z!

    ReplyDelete
  89. michael...

I use a ghost writer for my posts on HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  90. When you do it to survive, Michael. To survive.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Well I was gonna post since I've been gone a few days, but faker is here so now I am torn....

    ReplyDelete
  92. I am pretty sure drinking my own pee is a violation of my parole. But what the heck, I'll do anything to be on TV!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine?! No, but it's sterile and I like the taste...

    ReplyDelete
  94. If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!

    ReplyDelete
  95. PF ...

    Thanks.

That confirms my thoughts that I do have a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I have peed on 2 girlfriends floors. One of them married me. The other one stoly my Playstation.

    true stories

    ReplyDelete
  97. All this talk about pee reminds me of the former Lt. Governor of Alabama (Windom, I think) that had a jug at his desk in the legislature so that he could relieve himself without leaving the chamber. I believe he was afraid his power was going to be stripped if he left to go to the bathroom. I believe this happened less than ten years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Faker, I believe Mr. Windom and my father would have been fast friends. He used to relieve himself in a milk jug in the car on the way to Auburn games. NO STOPPING UNTIL WE'RE TO THE TAILGATE SPOT KIDS!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Faker, you're right. It was Windom

    ReplyDelete
  100. FSJ ...

The 10th anniversary of said event was last Saturday. Trust me, I know.

    ReplyDelete
  101. See this is why people around the country have a negative opinion of Alabamians. The Lt. Gov is peeing in jars in the office...wow.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Seanzie, it wasn't just in his office, I dont think. I think it was actually on the legislative floor.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Dmiller-I think the AU bball program has never had the support it deserves. Lebo has bene shafted on many occassions. The next coach will be also. there is no support upline. Unfortunately I feel this gig is a dead end.

The commitment to an arena is a start, but about 4 years after it was promised. In all sports AU needs to put forth the effort if they want to be bigtime. If not, join a mid major and be happy to win there.

    ReplyDelete
  104. That takes guts. You got to respect a guy like that.

    ReplyDelete
  105. He was committed. You can say that.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Ah, while the session is going on, even better. At least the man didn't have stage fright.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Seanzie, I think it's an endearing quality in a really really messed up way. :)

You can't say the man wasn't dedicated to the cause.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Great minds think alike! WARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  109. That's nothing. I used to poop in a bucket in my 8th grade social studies class.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I feel this conversation is inexorably leading to more cooler stories.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Imagine the poor schmo who had to explain to the media around the state, the nation and the world what had happened and why.

    ReplyDelete
  112. EAGLE, HEY!

    sorry...had to finish that ;-)

Jay will be along shortly to cut the poop talk...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Jet, that has all the makings of a good Southwest Airlines commercia.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Was that you who had to explain things, Jet? Well at least you have never had to explain to anyone why a guy would place human excrement in a cooler.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Or why someone would smash a paper sack full on some poor shmuck's door.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I know someone who needs to send you his resume', Michael.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Does he know the illegal goat collateral business, Jet? Because I am hiring.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Haha here come the cooler stories...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hate to change the subjet, but if Lebo were to leave for VCU, the bball program will take big step backwards. Look at he past few coaches we have had and where the go from AU. No where. Jacobs et al are not committed to pushing AU into the spotlight. He barely ran the parking dept well at AU, who thinks he can run the athletic dept.?

    ReplyDelete
  120. i got pee and poop stories out the a..uhh you know

    ReplyDelete
  121. I think we're all waiting on you to elaborate, Harrison.

    ReplyDelete
  122. WTC ...

Don't think it's happening, which is good. It's not a good time to be in the coaching market -- we're late to the dance.

Jay is not the problem; rather, he is a symptom. Now that football is calming down, I presume his ineptitude -- real, kinda real, or imagined -- will be less of a focus.

Of course, I remain on my one man crusade to have Q named AD.

    ReplyDelete
  123. true story. One friend of mine pooped in a box and tried to mail it to another guy. The post office called the second guy and said they had a package for him, but it smelled like feces, and whether or not to deliver. He declined, but I bet that was an awesome phone call

    ReplyDelete
  124. Anonymous4:01 PM

He should have said return to sender.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anonymous4:02 PM

    or told them "NO DROPS!"

    ReplyDelete
  126. Now how am I supposed to make a t-shirt that says "NO DROPS" when I have that image in my head?

    ReplyDelete
  127. ha! Perfect no drops reference.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Anonymous4:06 PM

shesaid - My apologies...it just made me laugh in my head.

Congrats on the recognition by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Let the record show that Kristinuh started all this poop talk.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Thankfully, there's not a "NO DUMPS" rule.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Anonymous4:09 PM

    So noted.

    ReplyDelete
  132. yeah and I was coaxed into tealling that story. By a puppet

    ReplyDelete
  133. If the final game gets forfeited for some reason I take the cake no question about it.

    It is puppet hour.

    ReplyDelete
  136. huh? you talkin bout puppets, jhag?

    ReplyDelete
  137. I think it has been puppet hour since 3:04 today.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I understand that there are two new puppets being marketed named "Harry" and "Mike"

Harry is the No. 1 puppet, so to speak, able to "make it rain" on demand.

Mike is definitely No. 2. His productivity allows him to store deposits for the winter by placing it in coolers.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I heard Ernie exposed himself in downtown Atlanta last weekend. Anyone have the details to that story?

    ReplyDelete
  140. If ever there were puppets we could use as spies in the Puppet War, it would be those two.

    ReplyDelete
  141. #1 and #2 puppets sound super cool. I bet they are tall, athletic and handsome.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Anonymous4:22 PM

A puppet is terrorizing women who live in apartment complexes along Briarcliff Road in Atlanta. Atlanta police say the puppet typically flashes late at night. So far, he hasn't hurt anyone, but women who live in the neighborhood are worried he might carry it a step further.

One victim, who only wants to be referred to as "Ashley", told 11 Alive News about her incident with the exhibitionist. She says she was originally alerted to the flasher puppet when she received an email from her apartment manager last August. "At first I thought it was funny because I have a sick sense of humor, but then the more I thought about it, it made me very, very nervous," Ashley said.

    ReplyDelete
  143. My wife put a "NO DROPS" sign over the toilet in our bathroom. I think she's trying to tell me something.

    ReplyDelete
  144. AU1N04- you're "Ashley" aren't you?

    ReplyDelete
  145. Anonymous4:25 PM

I can honestly say I am in Baltimore so that would be a negative.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I think Ernie has been showing off the elbow of his puppeteer. Puppets have no decency.

    ReplyDelete
  147. it's probably one of those really dry, wrinkly elbows too. Nasty!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Ashy elbows...yuk.

    ReplyDelete
  149. So does the HABOTN have any sneaky April Fools day plans?

    ReplyDelete
  150. Harrison, I believe that's what we in the business refer to as "ashy elbows." Lotion helps.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Matt,

Don't open the cooler on your porch.

    ReplyDelete
  152. jay needs to get that italian kid that will ferrell had on kicking and screaming to come play with him

    ReplyDelete
  153. Interviews have finished.

    I'm working on the summary.

    ReplyDelete
  154. jhag, a forfeit means a winner is still declared. You need the championship game to be called off entirely.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I plan on destroying the world as an April Fools prank.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Personally, I hope I win.

    ReplyDelete
  157. michael. how is twitter treating you?

    ReplyDelete
