Hey everyone. Auburn's
Our friends at AuburnSports.com are reporting that the Tigers' coaches, in the midst of a barnstorming tour across the state, have upgraded their transportation. The standard limousine has been replaced by a Hummer.
This whole thing seems odd to me.
Will it generate attention? You betcha.
Is it the right kind of attention? We shall see.

Hummer
ReplyDeleteTell em, Jo-Jo.
ReplyDeleteI am pro-Hummer.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea...we'll see if it works!
ReplyDeleteTonight on MTV ...
ReplyDeletePimp My Program
Jay G ...
ReplyDeleteI hope to be able to provide some important news from the Statehouse today.
Hummers are always great ideas.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I'll take two. One for me...and another for me.
I never knew a hummer could make me feel so good! WAR EAGLE!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it'll work, if anything it casts a more youthful and energetic image than what we had and that will hit home with high school kids.
ReplyDeletei bet my wife thinks that hummer is stupid and a waste of time
ReplyDeleteGuess limos are for us folks!
ReplyDeletemeant 'old' folks!
ReplyDeleteI'm generally more for substance over style, but you've got to speak to the young generation. I don't see how it could hurt anything.
ReplyDeleteI liked the limo..I love the hummer..NO DROPS!!
ReplyDeleteJet, I need to make this a big deal if it comes to pass.
ReplyDeletewhat's happening in the gump?
ReplyDeletetypical gump shenanigans
ReplyDeletePeople getting shot, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou have to consider your audience. Is this an audience who would appreciate an Auburn hummer? If so then it's a good idea.
ReplyDeletecreating a little stir has worked so far for Lane Kiffin with the recruits. why not? throw me in the pro-hummer pot.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA @ "Pimp my Program"
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, Jet.
Does it get any better than hummer humor?
Legislature's in town working on budgets, and important resolutions (hopefully)
ReplyDeletegump sounds like Durham, home of Puke U
ReplyDeleteMonica ...
ReplyDeleteThat's what Mrs. Jet said.
Jet - how many whereases can we expect? I think there's a whereas minimum for a really hawt resolution.
ReplyDeleteJet- HABOTN Resolution passed? That would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteBut I thought Mayor Strange was streamlining the city's administrative organization? This should obviously stop the people-shooting.
ReplyDeleteI'm always pro-hummer.
ReplyDeleteThis limo thing goes right with what Mary Kay Ash, founder of the cosmetics company, said:
ReplyDelete"A mediocre idea that generates enthusiasm will go further than a great idea that inspires no one."
Examples of great ideas inspiring no one:
ReplyDeleteCrystal Pepsi
Calling Jordan-Hare "The Jungle"
Flat tax rates
The modern version of the west coast offense
Mary Kay talk = hummer killer
ReplyDeleteSensi... How can you mention Crystal Pepsi without mentioning New Coke.
ReplyDeleteThe resolution, I believe, will be ready for introduction today, or tomorrow at the latest. I spoke to the sponsor's secretary this morning.
ReplyDeleteThe draft has five "WHEREASES." I do not know if the draft has been modified.
I like me some GNR, but not The Jungle (song or stadium nickname)
ReplyDeleteI think New Coke is more fondly remembered than Crystal Pepsi.
ReplyDeleteNew Coke=flat Pepsi
ReplyDeleteCould this be the biggest day in HABOTN history?
ReplyDeleteNo. No. NO!!!!
ReplyDeleteNo Hummer Killer!
I hate when that happens!
New Coke... big bust or best marketing campaign of all time?
ReplyDeleteBut Crystal Pepsi had Van Halen's "Right Now" on the commercial, New Coke didn't have that.
ReplyDelete"I never knew a hummer could make me feel so good!"
I've always known, always.
Jay G,
ReplyDeleteIf and when it occurs, there will be an official copy notarized by the Secretary of the Senate. I will obtain it for you and I guess I'll drive it down to the Agonizer. It might take a day for that to be ready.
Every day is the biggest day in HABOTN history, each day is better than the last.
ReplyDeleteNew Coke was an Epic Failure along the lines of the Edsel for those of my parents' generation.
ReplyDeleteCrystal Pepsi was just a garden variety failure.
Unless, of course, you buy into the theory that Coke knew exactly what it was doing.
They didn't know at the time but it certainly worked out for the best.
ReplyDeleteI have a "new" Coke every few hours. I deny that I am addicted to a soft drink, but I've gotta have it.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, they are washing the outside of the building here today with bleach which is producing some nice hallucinations for me. By 5 today I hope to be in the floor watching my hand move.
ReplyDeleteI get a lot of grief from my native Tar Heel brethren for not liking that nasty Pepsi stuff (invented in Kinston, NC, or somewhere near there). Sometimes the imported products are just better.
ReplyDeleteMonica- I don't miss FB at all. But I do miss your art. Is it on a nonFB web site?
ReplyDeleteIt's hilarious that if it involves Auburn, it's laughable and if it involves Bama, it's a right as rain. There's no cognitive thought, that's just their reaction to every single circumstance.
ReplyDeleteI hate Bama.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI've posted it before and I'll post it again.
ReplyDeleteBammers never cease to amaze me. if it doesn't go through or come out of Tuscaloosa, then it must not be worth anything. Riiiiight.
If the limo were houndtooth patterned and had a crimson A on the side, you'd have every knuckle-draggin', cousin-humper taking their Earnhardt shrines down off the wall to get the soon-to-be crafted Daniel Moore print of Saban standing on a stepstool so he could actually see out of the sunroof.
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, tonight is my last night on The Gridiron Breakdown.
ReplyDeleteTune it at 7 pm CDT if you are interested.
Jet,
ReplyDeleteI'm totally going to lift that and use it.
Classic.
why you quittin the breakdown sensi?
ReplyDeleteNot quitting it as much as moving on to other things (specifically involved with the day job).
ReplyDeleteI think Alan intends to continue it and I may work something up on a weekend again, but that's way away from now.
What's off about sending all of your assistants to one high school at a time? That's brilliant. Forget the limo "prop" as you media guys have pegged it.
ReplyDeleteIt's transportation.
My only beef is the parachute orange shirts they are wearing. Well, except for Roof.
Obviously, from the kids' quotes, it's created a lot of positive juice.
sorry to hear that Sensi. i think you've got a talent for it.
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, THT. My website for the art was left in the dust when I started working a "real" job again. I will make that happen eventually. Until then I can just add you to my email list. You'll be the first on the list. :-)
ReplyDeleteall pepsi = flat coke
It IS a prop. I'm not sure why that's supposed to be a bad word. It's a gimmick. It's a part of the dog and pony show. If someone out there doesn't like our show, I'd say they are just hatin.
ReplyDeletei like Pepsi. :(
ReplyDeletethat's ok, scottie - that just means you like flat coke
ReplyDeleteScottie, it's me and you on the Pepsi train on here I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteLUV is about to say it's quittin' time. All us other schmucks gotta keep pluggin along.
ReplyDeleteI just read where Greg Knox believes that the RB's at Miss State are as good as he's ever been around.
ReplyDeleteComing from such an expert, I guess we can expect two top 5 picks from them.
that's alright Sensi. i'm used to being in the minority. ;)
ReplyDeletei had a blast in the ATL last nite even though the Braves lost. good times.
I like Royal Crown. Take that.
ReplyDeleteMoon Pie.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I say to that, ehyou.
Ok, so you define it as a "prop". So would a helicopter, a jet, or a Geyhound bus a "prop"?
ReplyDeleteIt's sensible transportation. Period. It's wheels.
By the way, Doug is on it today.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
Scottie...
ReplyDeleteI was sitting on my deck last evening enjoying the weather thinking about what a nice night it would be for a baseball game.
Scottie & Sensi- I'm a die hard Diet Pepsi fan. I think the stock prices goes as I go drinking the product. I'm guilty of drinking at least 6 Diet Pepsi's a day.
ReplyDeleteScottie- Did you stay in the ATL or head back last night?
ReplyDeletemoon pies! YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteNew Coke was an elaborate scheme by the Marketing geniuses at Coca-Cola to sever their relationship with Bill Cosby. Once they got him to say "I like it better" how could they go back to him? That's my conspiracy theory for the day.
ReplyDelete/I'm sure it was somehow W.'s fault.
it was gorgeous ehyoutiger. absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeletewe got to the park before the gates opened & jetted down to row 1 to watch batting practice. we got to talk to Peter Moylan and Mike Gonzalez and also gave Timmy Hudson a big "War Eagle!" we hung around late after the game and met Martin Prado then drove home. i got in bed at 4:30am ET.
Tough game last night Scottie, that 8th inning was an absolute crusher.
ReplyDeleteMoylan was a lot bigger than i thought. his arms were huge and he has awesome full sleeve tattoos on both arms. he was very nice.
ReplyDelete"whereas, in their spirit of public commitment to the eradification of puppets, and whereas, in their profound concern with the safety of the general public, as manifested in their repeated warnings about the danger of bears and all things houndstooth, we do solemnly and with gratitude recognize the contributions of the habotn toward worlwide enlightnment. hate bama."
ReplyDeleteI need a good sign off for tonight.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions?
moonpie moonpie where ya been
ReplyDeleteup the river and back again
i hear these bammers hatin on our hummer- What the what??? :-)
Mon - as many have posted, if it doesn't originate from Tuscaloosa, it must be worthless.
ReplyDeleteI think it is terrible because it doesn't rep. the school well, but at least they are trying instead of duck hunting.
"My time is up. We thank you for yours."
ReplyDeleteever wonder what happened to 7 up?
ReplyDeleteScottie,
ReplyDeleteI'm not nearly qualified to quote those, but thanks for the suggestion.
but what happened to Alpha-Bits?
ReplyDeleteYou know what does rep the school well? Winning.
ReplyDeleteHow about singing the Barney song, Mr. S?
ReplyDeleteHow does it not represent the school well?
ReplyDeleteHummer this, UAT!
ReplyDeleteMon, couldn't agree more.
ReplyDeleteJet, no sir.
Sean, don't get me started.
Please, I'd like an opinion from the older generation.
ReplyDeleteThe limo is a signal:
ReplyDeleteChiz Means Biz.
I love it.
Sean ... I'm 45. Does that count as older?
ReplyDeleteI'm old as dirt and I think it's cool.
ReplyDeleteSensi - "the moving finger writes, and having writ, moves on."
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested to see who among us (other than Jet) can supply the line which most often followed that one.
HA @ "hummer this"
ReplyDeleteYou're on it today, Jet!
Amen, THT!
ReplyDeleteJet you mere infant, time for you to get your diaper changed. Heck, I'm so old it's probably time for my diaper change, too.
ReplyDeleteYeah but you like the limo, I want a counter point as to why it's a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteGaTiger ... may he rest in peace.
ReplyDeletei know Sensi, but it's the first thing that popped in my head.
ReplyDeleteyou could always leave with a hearty "BOOOOYYAAAHHHHHH!"
Sean ...
ReplyDeleteI don't believe this, but there will be those who say:
a. You're just trying act like rock stars. The rock star's at the other place.
b. Auburn doesn't do stuff like that.
c. Won't play UCLA, but you'll get a "hey-look-at-me" prop.
d. yada yada yada.
I got two words for those of our own that are caught in that thinking: WAKE UP.
I got two words for Infidels that are looking down their noses at it (quoting my man Mobile -- where is he?): GAME ON.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteProps to gatiger and THT for those.
ReplyDeleteBack to work for me, hotties.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the afternoon of resolutions and insurrection.
Older generation says:
ReplyDeleteHe who runs in front of Limo/Hummer get tired.
He who run behind Limo/Hummer get exhausted.
Jet - I don't know about you but that so clearly reminds me of being driven to school back in the day which then evokes some other pretty good memories.
ReplyDeleteFYI for you NASCAR junkies...
ReplyDeleteDavid Poole, of Charlotte Observer and Sirius NASCAR's "Morning Drive" fame, died late this morning.
He was old-school, grumpy, curmudgeonly ... and one hell of a reporter.
RIP.
I was going to throw an Aycock joke in with our Hummer chain, but it's too early for that kind of humor.
ReplyDeleteWow our hummer stuff must be REALLY REALLY good. Otherwise, Fbaum & Co. wouldn't be nearly so tissified. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThe Auburn hummer embodies everything that is wrong with the BC coaching situation as it pertains to UCLA scheduling.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of gauche, Finebaum's latest attempt at writing is worth reading.
ReplyDeleteif something has so many bammers riled up and calling it stupid, it must be smart.
ReplyDeleteits the Constanza Principle: whatever your natural intuition tells you is right, do the opposite.
all the bammers and slimebaums bashing the limo are playing right into luper's hands simply by talking about it and showing recruits the type of fan they will be playing in front of if they go to tuscaloser. if a recruit says he likes the limo, then, by extension, bama fans are calling those recruits stupid as well.
Some of my favorite terms of endearment describing Little Nicky: cheesy, greasy and a flat-out liar.
ReplyDeleteI can just see little Nicky asking for a new contract stipulating that he gets a (new) hummer every year. Of course, he would only need a little hummer, like the H3.
ReplyDeletei'm sure $aban could afford to have the automatic running boards put on a regular sized hummer so he could have a step-up to get in.
ReplyDeleteJay,
ReplyDeleteI havent checked the odds, does the baseball team have a chance to make the SEC tournament with a sweep of wins, no laughter, and or other teams losses.
I only care because I have nothing else to follow until Athlons and Lindys comes out in a few weeks.
THT - he'd actually be good with the one that kid made for himself to use in the downhill derby race on their commercial a few years ago.
ReplyDeletewith a little Happy Jack
ReplyDeleteEnterprise High coach Kevin Collins re: limo:
ReplyDelete“Whoever came up with that, it was a great idea.”
Also, I saw where the kid in Florida who is going for his 5th straight no hitter tonight is set to sign with the Florida Gators.
ReplyDeleteNote: Being in SW bama, I have noticed our QB signee, Leroys Clint Mosely is one heck of a baseball player, Coach P, should check him out since he will be redshirted this fall anyway.
Who was the last baseball/football cross over at Auburn? My memory it was Josh Sullivan, right? backup QB and pitcher on the baseball team.
Baseball team still could qualify for Hoover, sure.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to take a big turnaround, but that team has enough offense. If the pitching gets 25% better, they could sneak in as a 7 or 8 seed.
gabe gross?
ReplyDeleteWhatever the Finebummer is doing right now is really stupid.
ReplyDeleteGabe Gross I think was before Josh Sullivan, but Gross was a good one. He hailed from my hometown. He just signed a new contract he is set, his brother says he built a house in Auburn.
ReplyDeleteYep, I just checked Auburn baseball site, Josh Sullivan former tiger pitcher, in the minor leagues.
Speaking of that, Austin Hubbard, the baseball team reliever, who gives up bombs, was also a hell of a HS QB in the BHAM area.
ReplyDeletefloodgates have opened. I'm doomed to work. see y'all later.
ReplyDeleteLater THT
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Gabe & Tim Hudson are neighbors. If memory serves me correctly, Tim lives in Auburn and drives to Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteI would assume so, Auburn would be a great place to retire, etc. live, golf, college atmosphere, near the lake...wow..damn..i need to put more in my 401k...wait..never mind...my mattress.
ReplyDeleteTim Hudson does have a lrge house in Auburn. a buddy of mine saw him in wal-mart just before the season
ReplyDeleteIf/when Hudson comes back, the Atlanta staff should be sick.
ReplyDeleteHarrison - when your buddy saw him, did he say "Welcome to WalMart Mr. Hudson."?
ReplyDeletebammer + racist + elitist = most excellent Fbaum caller
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA
What's funny is they all say Auburn is making a fool of themselves...
ReplyDeleteQuestion: If your son could have one specialized athletic talent, what would it be?
ReplyDelete1. MLB Left handed middle reliever?
2. NFL Deep Snapper?
3. NBA Three point specialist?
4. NHL Hockey Enforcer?
Def MLB, Lefty Middle Reliever.
ReplyDeletedeep snapper
ReplyDeleteGaTiger- he might as well, he said he said something real sissified about loving to watch him pitch then ran off.
ReplyDeleteMy boy would be one of the Hanson Brothers.
ReplyDeleteClarification...
ReplyDeleteNot the gay singing group, from Slapshot.
For ElTurbo, I've chosen a special one for him ...
ReplyDelete"Overzealous Millionaire Auburn Booster/Limousine Renter"
bammer + racist + elitist = dale jr fan
ReplyDeletePDWT - my 2+ y/o son is showing leanings towards being a lefty and looking like he'll have plenty of size to play just about any sport. I'm definitely encouraging the lefty part & if I had my druthers I'd say he should be a lefty starter or closer.
ReplyDeleteHarrison - interestingly (to me at least), my son and I went to a local muni-park near the house this Saturday to watch some kids playing baseball. Well, mostly my son got to watch, I was too busy watching him making sure he didn't get into the dugout or do something he shouldn't. Anyway, as it turns out for 15 minutes I was standing right next to Javy Lopez and didn't even realize it since my attention was focused on the boy.
And so ends my most recent brush with greatness.
gatiger...
ReplyDeleteA pitcher for the Red Sox was at a park in GA? I thought they were in the middle of a series this weekend.
the only celebrity i have ever seen in public was Tonya Harding was standing right next to me in Tunica,MS just before one of her fights.
ReplyDeletei wouldn't have fought her.
Jet can you give me the Cliff's notes on Gatiger's post?
ReplyDeleteehyou - You serious? Perhaps I should clarify then, my brush with former greatness. These days I guess he's just another unemployed dude.
ReplyDeleteI'm just being difficult, dude. I'm a large Braves fan and would love to run across Javy.
ReplyDeleteasf asdf sdfjkhsdfuesuh
ReplyDeleteI don't think he has achieved Denny Crum status yet.
ReplyDeleteThe limo's and hummer's are a fantastic idea. I can only imagine the excitement and stir those things cause when they roll up to the front door. Plus seeing 7 AU assistants together
ReplyDeleteMon ...
ReplyDeleteLil' GaTiger lefty
Lefty pitches valuable
GaTiger sees potential.
GaTiger sees Javy
A has-been Brave
That is all.
Hey, gibberish!! It would be swell if you could tweet that michael.
ReplyDeleteehyou, I thought so but you can't be too sure so I don't want to assume anything.
ReplyDeleteOMNICA - you're no longer my favorite.
You're the bombdiggity, Jet.
ReplyDelete:-( don't hate because I have the attention span of a 2 year old
ReplyDeleteMon, that's better than attn. span of a 1 yr old .......or an 86 yr. old.
ReplyDeleteWhy all the crickets all of a sudden????
ReplyDeleteA'ight Hotties - I'm pretty sure that there's something seriously wrong with the refrigerator in my garage which requires my immediate attention. I must leave you now.
ReplyDeletePeace out.
I'm trying to work a little, 83. Thus, crickets.
ReplyDeleteGatiger - that's cold hearted. Hate on me and leave me hanging.
First chance I get to post in 4 months and I show up in a moment of silence.
ReplyDeleteTim Hudson's house is about a mile from mine (one mile and about 2 million dollars away). You could hold an indoor football scrimmage in there.
ReplyDeleteHA 83! Sorry about that. You shouldn't stay gone for 4 months!
ReplyDeleteWAY too much work going on......and it's not over yet.
ReplyDeleteIt must cease before fall football..
diggin that avatar 83..
ReplyDelete4 days and counting Hotties..it's killing me..
ReplyDeleteThanks war,
ReplyDeleteIt's the old standard I keep comin' back to. Yours is pretty outstanding as well. Looks like he's just waiting to pounce on an elephant.
I liked it cause if you look close you can see his tongue sticking out..
ReplyDeleteI'm likin' the tongue thing.......lickin' the chops for some bulldoggy.
ReplyDeleteI like the elephant better...I hate bama..
ReplyDeleteI saiiidddd...I HATE BAMA!! boy it really is crickets in here now isn't..
ReplyDeletehey mon...
i was talking to myself yesterday I have no problem doing it again...
ReplyDeleteI think people are underestimating the genius of this 'Tiger Prowl' tour! Apparently the coaches can not actually talk to recruits. They dont have to. Everyone is talking to them about Auburn and talking about Auburn football/recruiting...BRILLIANT!!!
ReplyDeleteThink about it, fans, haters, sportscasters, etc. may like it or hate it, but two points:
ReplyDelete1. Its being talked about regardless.
2. The kids like it. Here in Mobile it went over like gangbusters. Note: I dont know what that means I just have always heard it used.
i haven't been listening to talk radio..it the hummer idea getting attacked? I really don't see how it could be viewed as a negative thing..I mean all 7 recruiters going out together..has that ever even happpened?
ReplyDeleteit freaking sweet..they save money by carpooling..AU has gone green...
ReplyDeleteWe will have to one-up this every year to keep making splash. By 2012, I foresee the coaches traveling around in a boat being towed by the Oscar Meyer Wiener-mobile being driven by a guy in a Chewbacca costume while the coaches hold a continuous toga party on the top deck with guests including but not limited to Barbara Streisand, 50 Cent, and Alicia Silverstone.
ReplyDeleteThat'll get the recruits talking!
When they land a helicopter on the practice field at a local high school I will be impressed.
ReplyDeleteI can report that earlier this afternoon the Alabama Senate by acclamation, per Rule 78, passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. Steve French of Birmingham honoring Jay G. Tate and HABOTN.
ReplyDeleteA certified copy, suitable for framing, will be available either tomorrow afternoon or Thursday a.m., and will be given to Jay G.
One of us will post the final text of the resolution when it becomes available. A great legislative victory for the people.
Don't you mean gang bangers, PDWT?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the resolution!
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangbusters
ReplyDeletewikiepdia = true
Jet are you serious about the resolution? If so, that is awesome. I feel really special having now officially been resoluted.
LONG LIVE THE RESOLUTION!
ReplyDeleteViva La HABOTN!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThen I yell something!
ReplyDeleteyell something mysterious like "giggity giggity"
ReplyDeletewhat happens now. do we get immunity to do and say whatver we want
ReplyDeleteThis is so epic, I feel like I'm watching Mike Scott wax the Mets in the NLCS all over again.
ReplyDeleteI need this on t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteScottie?
the campfire logo along with the seal of the great state of alabama?
ReplyDeletethe habotn, approved by popular vote.
ReplyDeleteI bet Rocker farted on the way to Greenville and locked the windows, not allowing anyone to roll them down...
ReplyDeleteI bet Tracy turns the heat up too...bakes it cRocker style...
ReplyDeleteI'm pro-resolution.
ReplyDeletejay deserves every accolade he gets.
ReplyDelete
