In lieu of that, please read some interesting things said by players on Tuesday.
- WR Quindarius Carr on the spotty depth at his position: "There’s not that many out there. It’s a fast-paced offense so we’re constantly going back and forth. We don’t have that much of a break. We’re just getting into conditioning. There’s only like three or four of us. It’s alright so far."
**HABOTN NOTE**: Non-injured scholarship receivers is a group that currently includes Carr, Tim Hawthorne, Darvin Adams, Derek Winter and Philip Pierre-Louis. - QB Kodi Burns predicting his run responsibilities in Gus Malzahn's offense: "The quarterback definitely in this offense has to be able to run the ball. I will run some in this offense as well. I don't know if it will be as much as last year, but the quarterback in this offense definitely has to run the ball."
- WR Tim Hawthorne on things that are different with this new group of coaches: "It’s too early right now, but, overall, there’s a lot more structure. The coaches know what they’re going to teach and they know what they want us to learn. They have a set plan. I guess it’s more comfortable that way."
- LB Josh Bynes on defensive coordinator Ted Roof and his linebacking background: "Look at him. He looks like a linebacker. (Hearty guffaws all around) He's got the big legs, big upper body. From working with him, he's been a very very good coach and he's doing the things possible to get us better on defense as linebackers. He wants us more physical and get us instead of just being there and being a guy getting blocked. It's about us making an impression on the offense that 'Yeah, we're going to come at you hard and come at you fast and come at you physical on every play.'"
- G Mike "Big Snacks" Berry on the Tigers' new offense: "Compared to the old offense, we're probably going to run the ball. Grimes, the first day we met him, he told us he wants us to be the toughest O-line in the nation. I'm glad we're getting back to running the ball."

I'd like to thank the academy...
ReplyDeleteWow...I killed the thread before it started.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, j-z.
ReplyDeleteOk...I'm starting to feel self conscious now.
ReplyDeleteWhew...Thanks Boss.
ReplyDeleteI'm here for you.
ReplyDeleteMr. Tate,
ReplyDeleteCan you do a little scouting on Justin Albert when you hit the next practice?
I can do it right now.
ReplyDeleteHe's a 5-foot-7 scatback with one-tick-above-SEC-average speed and quickness. He seems pretty refined with his hands.
He'll be behind Ben Tate, Mario Fannin, Onterio McCalebb, Dontae Aycock and possibly Brandon Jacobs.
JGT - Do the players seem to think there is too much structure?
ReplyDeleteAre the two of you enjoying your little conversation?
ReplyDeleteKids need structure...
ReplyDeleteI don't sense there is too much structure, no. Auburn was pretty lax before.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely Kristina!
ReplyDeleteJay G ... That is a fantastic picture. Really. Award winner.
ReplyDeleteJustin Albert sounds a lot like the Lizard, Markeith Cooper. I hoped he was a little quicker than that.
ReplyDeletetext alert system message:
ReplyDeletethe QB looks like his arm just turned into a noodle. please send help.
that pic is pretty cool...did you use it last week, or was that another blogger that one of these knuckleheads linked to?
ReplyDeleteIs Big Snacks a nickname that Berry has had his whole life, or did he obtain it when he got to Auburn?
ReplyDeleteTodd Van Emst, Auburn's resident photographer, provided that shot. He's outstanding.
ReplyDeleteAs for Big Snacks, I think King Dunlap or Marcus McNeill gave him that nickname.
The Chizik blur pic is very cool.
ReplyDelete"I'm glad we're getting back to running the ball."
ReplyDeleteMe too.
Who knew that OFL (our fearless leader) was a thread-killer?
ReplyDeleteHe must be channeling Will.
ReplyDelete"(Hearty guffaws all around)"<--This is why I love Jay G.
ReplyDeleteVan Ernst photos fantastic. This is one of my faves.
"Yeah, we're going to come at you hard and come at you fast and come at you physical on every play." I don't care who smacks me around for it. I love this kind of rah rah talk.
Love the quotes; Early spring talk comes easy now I want to see
ReplyDeleteaction when it counts. It does sound like they are on the same page and enjoying the practice, as much as they can. Keep up the great work bossman.

ReplyDeleteWomens BB Team is going to be on The Weather Channel. One of the players is a storm chaser? Not sure.
ReplyDeleteYep, one of the players is a storm chaser. It's coming up next.
ReplyDeleteThis is the second time I have listened togridironblog radio and all they have talked about is NFL. I understand Jay G. will be on later.
ReplyDeleteTodd Van Emst takes every picture ever taken at Auburn
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the Roundtable today, JG! You always make the show better. Really diggin' the blurry Chizik pic too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the Hotties that received shoutouts from JG!
Three Jay's could get confusing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. Just watched a Boddie introspective on storm chasing on TWC. Auburn pub very cool.
ReplyDeleteJay G coming up next
ReplyDeleteTodd Van Ernst is the master of his craft.....IMO.
ReplyDeleteNow they are talking about bammer stats from todays scrimmage yuck yuck
ReplyDeleteWe are trying to reach Jay G.
ReplyDeleteMessage has been left. We will hope.
Hurry Jay G. I can't take much more of this !!!
ReplyDeleteCall in if you all want to talk some Auburn.
ReplyDelete347-826-9452
ehyou - I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw it! I thought it was cool too. Those girls have fun I bet.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the mixup. I hate to falsely advertise.
ReplyDeleteFor the life of me,,,, I cannto get the steam to work tonight....
ReplyDeleteUGH!
nor can i type
ReplyDeleteSensi could you not get Jay G?
ReplyDeleteDear Leader:
ReplyDeleteI was forced to connect via Internet Explorer.
I hate when I can't get my steam to work!
ReplyDeleteSorry I just can't see that happening
ReplyDeleteHA! nice ;-)
ReplyDeleteDigger,
ReplyDeleteSomewhere along the interwebs, we have miscommunicated. Again, I apologize for the confusion.
We are talking about Auburn a little more from the cuff. I promise we will talk more and more as the spring game approaches.
Whoa what was this about Boddie being a storm chaser?
ReplyDeleteThank you Sensi. I tried to call in and was told to hit 1 to talk to the host and did that and all I got was one of you talking.
ReplyDeleteTry again Digger. I didn't see your call on the board.
ReplyDeleteSensi
ReplyDeleteYou guys have pretty well covered any question I had.
Thanks for listening.
ReplyDeleteWhen you click "Listen Live" on the 740 website, you get the same comment over and over. It is not "listening live". 740 by all accounts is "lame".
ReplyDeleteWhitney Boddie about to come on the Weather Channel NOW!
ReplyDeleteyep, Matt.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna DVR it this time. It is awesome!
ReplyDeleteu r too cute
ReplyDeleteDenny Crum are you out there? Greg has a great idea and he said I should run it by you.
ReplyDeleteI like just about everything I hear coming out of practice. I'm not getting excited about this year, I'm not letting myself. but I do like the direction we are headed.
ReplyDeleteAnd tonights Scrubs was the worst I've ever seen
Whitney Boddie? Weather Channel?
ReplyDeleteWhat?
Yea, I inadvertently stood up Sensi tonight.
ReplyDeleteCompletely unintentional.
We went out, I didn't take my phone, I'm off today and really didn't want to be found.
ReplyDeleteForgot that Sensi would have been trying to find me ...
The Weather Channel is apparently showing a special feature on Whitney Boddie as a storm chaser. I missed it the first time but they're supposed to show it again.
ReplyDeleteI DON'T WANT NO SCRUB
ReplyDeleteA SCRUB IS A GUY THAT CAN'T GET NO LOVE FROM ME
HANGIN' ON THE PASSANGERS SIDE
OF HIS BEST FRIENDS RIDE
TRYIN' TO HOLLA AT ME
They'll show it over and over, Matt. It's just a very short little piece, but it's good.
ReplyDeleteOh I know about TWC and their "over and over" behaviors.
ReplyDeleteSee: me trying to get the tornado forecast, tuning to The Weather Channel only to see a Storm Stories marathon full of hot air supplied by scare monger Jim Cantore
Whitney should be on after this break ... 8:51 p.m. CDT.
ReplyDeleteScott from Tucson ...
ReplyDeleteDish Network is turning on HD locals for you. You have no alibi for not being with this fine satellite provider.
This is the same piece from ESPN.
ReplyDeleteYou were missed by all JayG. But stuff happens
ReplyDeleteWhitney on ESPN
ReplyDeleteHi Hotties. Sponge here. Everything I hear out of the players and practice I like. I think Tubby was tired of AU and AU was tired of him. It shows in a lot of comments I've heard from players, coaches, fans, etc. However, I'm not drinking the koolaid till I see em play
ReplyDeleteWow Weather Channel really sucks at April Fools jokes.
ReplyDeleteSittin in the sauna
ReplyDeletePorous is he.
ReplyDeletemore restrictive living
ReplyDeleteDid you guys see where Nick Perry, DB out of Prattville committed to UA. He's a stud. Saben was after him big time, and got him. If you want to know where we are in recruiting right now compared to bama, Saben made several visits to Prattville to recruit Nick as a junior, DURING THIS YEARS recruiting season. Thanks Tubby. Au is behind, but I like our efforts so far
ReplyDeleteYou can't get one past JGT. Nice call-out on the W Boddie storm chaser story from ESPN. We bow to you.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, it was a pleasure to watch.
spongebob is Negative nancy
ReplyDeleteI love Auburn
ReplyDeleteBama is to be despised
War Eagle and thank you very much
Jhag, still miffed we are basically rebuilding I guess. We are in a position right now we should never have been in. I'll get over it.
ReplyDeleteHag when do you leave for your partying in tuscalooser?
ReplyDeleteehyou ...
ReplyDeleteUAT was, is and shall be despised.
Does Mrs. Jet miss me?
ReplyDeleteAnd Jet despises UA better than anyone. Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Jet checked out earlier ... she's an early to bed type.
ReplyDeleteElTurbo had a game, so we just got home.
Who is Rick Dease and why is that name familiar to me?
ReplyDeleteSaturday =)
ReplyDeleteHe's stalking friends off friends, Monica.
ReplyDeleteTallahassee friday
ReplyDeleteSounds like the popular singer about 15 to 20 years ago that sang "Jessie's Girl" I wish that I had Jessie's girl.....
ReplyDeleteRick Dees - DJ, also Disco Duck
ReplyDeleteRick Springfield - Jessie's Girl
Sponge-P'ville is becoming like Gasden. We got the Albert kid as a walkon but ever kid that plays D1seems to go to UAT.
ReplyDeleteI like our effort going forward though. Thank goodness signing day is a long way off. I woul dlike ot see some kids commit now though.
the DJ who did Open House Party! right?
ReplyDeleteThanks Mihous
Sponge....."Flattville" is full of Bammer Lemmings. Very hard to get to those kids.
ReplyDeleteAt first it seemed that you had mindreading skills when you supposedly "knew" that Tubs was "tired" of AU. Then I realized that you just aren't concerned with accuracy when you claimed that the AU fans were tired of him. There was a vocal group..mostly on the net and callins and PTB that were "tired" of CTT. There was a large group that didn't want change. That fan group grew weary trying to hold off the "tired ones".
If you want to complain, then complain that according to Scout, we are only on the "interested" list of 1 of the top OL. I guess that's the old group's fault also. I mean there are only 30 OL on that Scout list ond there just hasn't been time for the new guys to contact them.
Personally, I don't that we should be complaining, but if you are going to complain, at least keep it contemporaneous.
Auburn’s got a front-runner in its kicking competition, and it’s probably someone you’ve never heard of.
ReplyDeleteChandler Brooks, a walk-on redshirt freshman from Huntsville, Ala., is leading the place-kicking competition, according to special teams coach Jay Boulware, ahead of incumbent Wes Byrum and Morgan Hull, a pair of juniors.
“He’s consistent,” Boulware said of Brooks. “He nailed a 51-yarder today at the end of practice. He’s doing a phenomenal job for us right now.”
wtc. you are right, but the day of reckoning will come for UA over Gadsden. Consider this. The last time UA got a new coach, then every great player from every state all of a sudden wanted to play for the Tide, what happened. Dubose goes down. It's about to happen again. And for the same reasons. Patience
ReplyDeleteYour welcome Monica
ReplyDeleteAlso have a question Monica. I understand you are from Brewton. Do you know Kevin Mosley or his family? He was named bb coach at the school my son attends.
Sponge, there is a lot of talk coming from the Gadsden area. I am still waiting to see the end result, I hope you are correct.
ReplyDeleteSPonge-I appreciate your zeal for everything bad happening to UAT. Deep inside I probably do, but will just wait to see what happens. I have heard that talk for a while. If it happens, I will give you props. Until then, I do not worry over it.
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, when AU started getting a few players from Mobile Everybody in west AL said it was oly a matter of time before Joe Whitt or Chette Williams got AU in trouble. Still hasn't happened.
Again, Not raining on the parade. I will wait until the radio guys break in and announce it.
Hoop ...
ReplyDeleteA good reason why that only one of 30 -- allegedly -- is interested in us is because of the hole we're in -- primarily shoveled by the previous regime.
Kids -- generally -- don't give a rip about PTBs, or nets, or boards, or anything of a sort. They care about the effort of those recruiting them. They want to see the head coach. They want the love. The esteemed blogger, Mr. Tate, has said as much that Tubs' energy was gone.
We -- he -- surrendered the state, and let the energy slide away. If you're wanting me to bitch about recruiting today for a class won't sign for another 10 months, I'm not biting.
Oh, I failed to mention that the wife fixed red beans and rice with Conecuh sausage. I wish you guys could have stopped by.
ReplyDeleteWe may have this at the first tailgate in September.
WTC ...
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't really help me at the moment after having the popcorn dinner at the STJ soccer game.
If only I could have gotten some bacon crumbles in there.
ReplyDeleteMMM mkay
ReplyDeleteHoop, what Jet said...LOL. Sorry to get your blood boiling, but way too much info out there indicated Tubby was "burned out a bit". Don't blame him really. AU boosters had as much to do with it as he did. From the fan perspective, I was referring to those fans, me included, that grew tired of his dalliance w/ other job offers after each successful year, leaving AU, and AU fans, hanging. Tubby and company did a great job recruiting early on, but again, in my opinion, they didn't have the stomach or will to compete w/ Sabear.
ReplyDeleteRegarding current recruiting, I think this staff will be great given time. I was really pointing out that Sabear and company was recruiting for next year while we were recruiting for this year, and that by doing that, they were way ahead and we have a lot of ground to make up... Which I think we will. Finally, Sabear and families methods will be exposed soon enough, which will allow AU to catch up quickly I hope.. S
So see, this is actually positive news...LOL
Bacon!
ReplyDeleteStill wanting to try cooking a Bacon Explosion.
Spongeworthy...
ReplyDeleteWanna bet on Gadsden?
Milhous - That name doesn't ring any bells, but I've been gone from Brewton since the early 90's. Do you know where he went to high school?
ReplyDeleteWTC - That sounds yummy. That's how Greg does RB&R.
Faker - I'm sorry - I tried to find that RoundTable phone number today and I couldn't!
ReplyDeleteIts ok Mon..
ReplyDeleteI'll catch em next time
Dirty's husband thinks he's Kenny Powers.
ReplyDeleteFSJ. Sure, why not. I could be wrong, but from what I'm hearing, there is a lot of smoke. Big smoke.. I'm talkin Indian smoke signals kind of smoke :<) What kind of bet did you have in mind.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that I'm not sayin Sabear is the main culprit here, but there are factions out there he cannot control..
Off topic ...
ReplyDeleteWashington Post reporting Redskins attempting to acquire Jay Cutler.
Can't make Jason Campbell too happy.
Well..let me put it to u like this...
ReplyDeleteI'll bet whatever u want. $100 seems like a good friendly wager..
Lets make the bet like this..If Alabama goes down in Gadsden....at least one other school will too..
If u want more info..I can share it via email.
I heard there gonna make a direct trade Campbell for Cutler
ReplyDeleteIs there any player Snyder doesn't go after? He and Jerry Jones deserve each other.
ReplyDeleteooooo I WANT IT I WANT IT!
ReplyDeletemonica_wareagle@yahoo.com
rollin down a backwoods
ReplyDeleteoh lawd...
ReplyDeleteNot the boys from Ft. Payne
Fsj. I'm cheap. How bout $25. That way it isn't too nasty. And my contention is the bama will get probation, and there will be charges in gadsden, whether they are proved or not. Cause the ncaa throws a lot out there to see what sticks, then hammer you on what sticks.
ReplyDeleteOh yes.
ReplyDeleteone arm on tha wheel
ReplyDeleteanyone ever get something on e-bay that turned out to be crap?
ReplyDeleteholdin my lover
ReplyDeleteThats fair Spongeworthy..
ReplyDeleteWanna put a timeframe on when these charges will be brought?
And the aforementioned probation would have to be a result of any infractions in Gadsden..
ReplyDeleteForgot to add that.
with the other
ReplyDeleteYes, Sponge, but only once. I've had very good lucky on Ebay.
ReplyDeleteUs ... us ... us....
ReplyDeleteOk FSJ. Again, don't know what will stick, but in prelim letter or letter of investigation, infractions in Gadsden will mentioned. Fair enough. Final charges may or may not include Gadsden, but initial charges will. Time limit. Are you talking time limit on date of penalties or time limit on letter from ncaa to bama. (date of letter, not date bama finally released letter to public due to disclosure rules)
ReplyDeleteI can't freaking wait for the season... Although I am still not completely sold on Chizik, I have to admit the staff, so far seams like one of the best in the country.
ReplyDeleteGrizzly
ReplyDeleteAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@#%^# ^@#%%$#^$ @#$! @$%^$#&! @%# !@$!#$ #%@^$
Sorry....
ReplyDelete@@~#%#T
Date of letter is fine..
ReplyDeleteWhat I am getting at is that if something happens five years down the road in Gadsden..u can't say....SEE I TOLD YA...PAY UP!...
lol.
What's wrong D?
ReplyDeleteThey didn't shut down Hamburger King, did they?
WTC
ReplyDeleteI just filed my taxes...
ReplyDeleteIf HK shut down, I'm going postal on somebody...
ReplyDeleteThat aint even funny, Jet! Don'tplay with a brotha's emotions like that!
ReplyDeleteJust because I dig it
ReplyDeleteOk FSJ. Friendly wager. UA will get letter before end of this year or addendum to letter they already have regarding bookgate. Even if they get letter, and it has no charges related to Gadsden and even if they are slapped w/ probation you win if Gadsden not mentioned. Don't get me on word play here. you know what I mean. Players in that area. They may not actually say...Gadsden HS. Cool with that.
ReplyDeleteWhat up with Mission Impossible, Mon?
ReplyDeleteThat works man..
ReplyDeleteWe are cool.
It's my accompaniment for the REC drama.
ReplyDeleteBook 'em Sponge-o
ReplyDeleteJet I'd like for you to speak with Elturbo and have them play the Hawaii Five-0 theme in the stands next football season.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
FSJ. We can get with each other some way after something happens to pay up, or something doesn't happen...whaterver the case may be.
ReplyDeleteSure hope that other school isn't AU. We can't afford to cheat, cause we are the worst at it. I mean, we go down for Eric Ramsey. Wassup with that. At least go down with a kid like Julio, who makes a difference. LOL
Eh..it will be fine Sponge.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anything will happen in Gadsden to either school.
this blog will self destruct in five seconds. Tell no one.
ReplyDeleteElTurbo's high school band did play this ... He has recently decided not to try out for the AU band.
ReplyDeleteHe feels his talents may be better utilized as a fan.
That makes me sad. :-(
ReplyDeleteFaker and Sponge - You can both send me $100 and I'll hold it in safe keeping. :-)
Can't reduce Denny Chimes to rubble if you're in the band.
ReplyDeleteUnequivocally I can say, we didn't recruit anyone the last two years that other schools would bother turning us in for ;<) I think these new coaches will get players. They may have to go to Texas to get em, but we will get em.
ReplyDeleteI trust you Mon, i'm ur namesake. Even if I have the brains of Patrick...
ReplyDeleteMon, you'll be happy to know I was Tom Magnum a few years ago for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteNite nite. Too much excitement for one blog..
ReplyDeleteMon..
ReplyDeleteConsidering only $50 is at risk here total....
That works out well for u...
Austin - I will only believe that with photographic proof! :-)
ReplyDeleteFaker - ooopsie

ReplyDeleteugh. this day sucked
ReplyDeleteone of my friends facebook status reads Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo. I find that amusing enough to share.
ReplyDeletethe only scholarship long snapper on the team is 3rd on the depth chart??? why was a scholarship wasted on him again?
ReplyDeleteQuote to make Monica's knees weak:
ReplyDelete"To be real honest, the talk that's happened before we came around, that's all B.T.T. I say that's before Troop time. I don't care anything about any of that, it's what we have now."
-Trooper Taylor after Wednesday's practice
Auburn Baseball was canceled in Mobile today. Rescheduled for a home and home April 14-15.
ReplyDeleteI want some good tacos and mexican queso dip. I don't think Taco bell has either, and that's probably my only bet this time of night. Off to bed, then.
ReplyDeleteMorning Hotties - make it a fine day.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Hotties! We made it over the hump!
ReplyDeleteSo far, I'm pretty impressed with this group of coaches. It seems, the players are as well. I see good things on the Auburn football horizon. War Eagle!
As for Big Snacks, I think King Dunlap or Marcus McNeill gave him that nickname.
ReplyDeleteAll this time I thought it was you, Jay G, that made up the nickname.

ReplyDeleteJay-that pic is super cool!!
ReplyDeleteMedia outlets are reporting Jay G. Tate will sign with ESPN for $33 million over eight years, plus two automobiles, a country club membership, and other marketing opportunities.
ReplyDeleteIt is expected he will be named "Kornheiser in Waiting" for ESPN's hit show "Pardon The Interruption," will be allowed to shoot Jay Mariotti on air during "Around the Horn" and clank Mike Lupica with a 2 x 4 on "The Sports Reporters."
A Good Morning to all!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll hate Bama today. Yep, it's decided.
I like Mike Lupica
ReplyDeleteTop of the mornin' folks!
ReplyDeleteehyou,
ReplyDeleteI made that decision a looonng time ago.
Truth is, you did, too.
Jet,
ReplyDeleteThat's just a waste of a country club membership, since Jay apparently hates golf.
RK,
ReplyDeleteThe sad truth is that the odds are once he hits the big time ... he'll probably "big dog" us ... start playing golf, listening to classical music, collecting art ... stuff like that.
It always happens.
That's true...plus there is the inevitible change from "Jay G. Tate" to either "J.G. Tate" or possibly something like "Jerome Gerald Tate Esquire".
ReplyDeleteIt will be up to the hotties to keep the HABOTN running once he becomes the big shot.
I would MUCH rather see Jay G on PTI than ol' Korny. I can't stand that guy or is awful combover.
ReplyDelete*his
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person in the world that likes Kornheiser?
ReplyDeleteI won't hold it against you, ehyou. ;-)
