OT: Aaron's 312 at Talladega

Hey everyone. I'm at Talladega Superspeedway for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race this afternoon. It's good to break away from Auburn coverage every now and again because, you know, there's not much going on there right now.

I thought it would be prudent to let you all know what I am doing.

I'll post a few pics here. Otherwise, I gotta pay attention to this race ...

  2. See how close you can get to Grand Marshall Saban...and then fart.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Scoop and Stick, sounds like a good play!

    ReplyDelete
  4. That's tomorrow, Will.

Today's grand marshal was Bubba The Love Sponge of Howard 101 fame. Very exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Earnhardt missed the pit stall again. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  6. NASCAR can't be that hard...can it?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Will someone please explain to me why I enjoy watching the draft so much? It is not exciting, it is not entertaining, yet every year I find myself sitting in front of the TV watching it. Maybe it's the beers.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I read a few things last night on here about some big news regarding AU recruiting. Did anything ever materialize or did any other info become available?

    ReplyDelete
  9. The draft is a reason not to do something constructive.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Will, I have absolutely no idea.Do you watch Miss America pageant and Academy Awards, too?

    ReplyDelete
  11. The draft is cool as long as the beer is flowing...after that it's time to change venues or change the channel.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Nope, can't stand awards shows. What is a pageant?

    ReplyDelete
  13. No wonder I don't like the draft. I don't like beer.

    ReplyDelete
  14. the draft is an awards show

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sean, you ever tried the Budweiser American Ale? They have been making it for a year or so now. I dig it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. THT you make a valid point...Matt Stafford isn't a No. 1 pick, he's a scout's dream...hence...award show.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Will, I've had it, I like it. There are few beers I won't drink...the American Ale isn't one of those.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Tyson Jackson from LSU went third. The first highlight they showed was him sacking Chris Todd.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Tyson Jackson over Aaron Curry...that's suspect @ No. 3?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Finally, the Pens put the biscuit in the basket. Now HIT someone (preferably a Flyer).

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't think Chris Todd gives up any sacks next year..

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sean I agree about Jackson, and regardless of the details, I hope you are right about Todd.

I don't think he ever plays another snap at AU.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Will, you hit the nail on the head.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sean, what's your take on Sanchez from USC? Only 16 games started in college...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well normally I would say pass, but Matt Cassell started zero games and won 11 with the Pats...so its up in the air but I'll go with bust.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jets trade up to take Sanchez...step one in NYJ screwing up their draft.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thats's a good point about Cassel. I hope Sanchez sends him a Thank You note tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  28. How bout a thank you note and a check?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hope Andre Smith has a bra on today.

    ReplyDelete
  30. He's sitting at home so he doesn't show off the man boobs.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Dear Bungles, Andre Smith = soft in the pants. Thanks for sucking at life.

    Loyal Steelers fan,

    EZ

    ReplyDelete
  32. Heyward Bey over Crabtree????

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oakland screws up again!

    ReplyDelete
  34. That's what happens when no one will tell the fish monster 'no'.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Speaking of Thank You notes. One from JAX to OAK is in order.

    ReplyDelete
  36. A thank you note and a beer of the month club membership to Al Davis.

    ReplyDelete
  37. You're right Will, that's why the Raiders are the Raiders. Someone put Davis out of his misery along with their fans. Kill two birds with one stone.

    ReplyDelete
  38. AU up 4-1 on tiggers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Raiders seem like the gutter of the NFL to me. All the trash from everywhere else seems to end up there.

    ReplyDelete
  40. did earnhardt install the tony franklin system?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Earnhardt is like the UFO's in Fyffe AL. I heard about them forever, but never seen anything out of them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. OK I am going out on a limb...

Unless Kodi, a year later, dominates fall ball and is the hands down starter...

Ya really gotta wonder... was CTF right all along about KB...

    ReplyDelete
  43. I couldn't care less who was right about whom, I want a guy in a blue jersey throwing TDs, I don't care who it is.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Banana shaped UFO's at that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Earnhadt is the Anna Kournikova of NASCAR

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why didn't the Raiders draft James Swinton? Al Davis loves fast players that do nothing on the field.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Andre Smith to the Bengals?

    A slug to thugs.

    ReplyDelete
  48. good stuff depressed!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Erin Andrews chosen to do interviews based on her probing questions on the sidelines of college football games. Great move by the worldwide leader in sports.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The real albatross for me is Bey getting shut out in 2 ACC games. The ACC isn't known for it's stout defenses.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Auburn baseball begins the inevitable meltdown. 3...2...1...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Erin Andrews is hot enough to probe where she likes...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Erin Andrews and probe in the same sentence = how much?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I like Pettigrew and Crabtree alot right now.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like Crabtree period, too bad the Titans have no chance at getting him.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I heard some talk that Ron Brown and J Camp might play into this draft as part of some trades today.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ronnie Brown would be a steal....J-Cam is decent, but he obviously needs to be in the right situation.

    ReplyDelete
  58. You could do alot worse than Campbell.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh yeah, I think Jason is definitely a top half starter in the NFL...but he needs to get the heck out of Washington.

    ReplyDelete
  60. They mentioned him possibly going to Tampa. That would be cool. Wherever he goes will prob be my new favorite team.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Tampa loves the W.C. offense, and he played well in our version in 2004, I think that would be a good fit for him.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Washington does something sensible for once...NYJ did them a favor.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Here come them Caints! Who dat?

    ReplyDelete
  64. when campbell leaves the nfl, he will make a heckuva offensive coordinator. how many systems has he learned thus far?

    ReplyDelete
  65. He's on his 22nd offensive coordinator in 8 years. That's at least 16 different systems, but you can't count Nallsminger.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah, but he's never had a "Dumbass."

    ReplyDelete
  67. I have the Sen'Derrick Marks story written.

Now ... just waiting for him to get drafted!

    ReplyDelete
  68. another DB for the saints. i hope he understands he is supposed to cover the other teams WRs, not just run aimlessly around the field. go aints!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. AU down 5-4 after two solo HR's.
    Well, I am shocked....

    ReplyDelete
  70. Pick a winner Bolts!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. i can't help but think marks is being penalized for playing on a bad AU team last year. he can go inside or outside and should be a nice pickup for someone in the 3rd or so. i hope he can get into a situation like the patriots or steelers. i'd take him with the saints any day of the week.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Baseball playin a lot like the football team, half games I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks Jet,

The secret was me pretending I wasn't paying attention. working on hobby and glanced at tv only when I heard THTjr screaming in delight upstairs.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Uh, OK, Bolts. Not what I had in mind.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I wish I knew how to nap.

Sharks & Ducks don't start til 10 EST tonight on versus. We get an hour of Calgary and Chicago starting at 9 EST before they move west.

    ReplyDelete
  76. baseball really really really really really really really PISSIN ME OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

    ReplyDelete
  77. cant bunt cant catch stupid stupid stupid

    ReplyDelete
  78. disgusting, sorry for the drama yall

    ReplyDelete
  79. JABA, I'm better now.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Goosfrabah, EZ.

I take it we're chokin' our guts out in baseball?

    ReplyDelete
  81. yep, just lost it bottom of the ninth. hargett whiffed a grounder for a chance to throw out at the plate. anyone seen Slater, did they keep him on as an assistant or something. im gonna puke.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm surprised at how far Marks has supposedly fallen in the eyes of the NFL scouts. Kiper has him going in the 4th rd. He struggled some with injuries last season, but his first two seasons at AU were two of the best seasons by an AU D-lineman in years. He made plays in the backfield against the run and the pass, and played against top competition. Is an injured hamstring really causing him to fall that far?

    ReplyDelete
  83. He was projected in the 2nd round and I think that's where he'll go. I don't think he ever was predicted to hit the first round. I think Kiper putting him in the 4th is a bit naive.

    ReplyDelete
  84. i thought 10-20 was a bad sec record, we might dump on that this year if were not careful.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I've never seen such expensive paper, the only use of which is for starting a fire:

    Burn it

    ReplyDelete
  86. THT ...

    Let's a have a wienie roast!

    ReplyDelete
  87. THT, I can think of a few more things to do with that waste of parchment.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Maybe they should test it for BAR dna and up the bids.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous5:52 PM

THT - What was the final score I missed it?

Now I am watching my Ravens pull in OL Oher which is more SEC goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah, 2nd rd would be a good spot for Marks. I just wonder, Kiper is usually pretty accurate about projecting where players will go. I would love to see Sen'Derrick end up on a winning team. One of my favorite AU players.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Oher's just another guy for Harrison to run around.

    ReplyDelete
  92. The prominent substance on the paper was alcohol based, which increased the likelihood that the Bahr touched the report at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Anonymous5:56 PM

    Harrison got lucky..: )

He is just upset because the Ravens cut him....he got his money and will get fat and slow.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Anonymous5:57 PM

    I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Touched it or someone snorted a chalky white substance off of it. I'm sure if we dig deep enough, you could find some sort of residue.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Fat and slow Harrison is still better than 90% of guys in the same position.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Steelers also cut him twice:^]

    ReplyDelete
  98. I think Oher will do well, I would have liked to have had him also. We will move on.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous6:00 PM

    I can't diss him...he is a great player.

    ReplyDelete
  100. percy harvin to the vikes is a pretty good pick, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Percy Harvin to the Vikes? I guess they play on artificial grass.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I guess the Giants said, we'll get rid of Plax and just get a guy that reportedly gets high in his spare time. Upgrade? You make the choice?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Titans on the clock, finally!

    ReplyDelete
  104. The Titans, with the 30th pick of the first round of the NFL Draft, select Dax Dellenbach, long snapper of Auburn University.

    ReplyDelete
  105. The Steelers take Shipley center? He visited the organization earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Beanie may be better than White but really, odd if it happens.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I heard the Colts may release Peyton Manning because he inquired about retiring and returning to play college football at Boston College.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I was going to stroke out if they picked Beanie Wells! Kenny Britt could be good? I have never heard of him.

    ReplyDelete
  109. That kid from Rutgers is pretty good, but as always we'll have to see.

    ReplyDelete
  110. sorry, AU1, I was enjoying some shrimp scampi.

    Penguins 5 Flyers 3.

Pens overcame 3-0 deficit and got go ahead goal midway through 3rd and empty netter to close it out. YEA!!!

Which means Pens vs Caps if Caps win. Yikes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anonymous7:27 PM

No worries. Just got a call from my sister.

On the AU sports front. Auburn Mens Lax, ranked #1 in the SELC Championship Tournament is beating FSU 3-2.

Who doesn't know what lax is?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Anonymous7:28 PM

THT - Tell me that wasn't an awesome Ovechkin goal last night?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Anonymous7:28 PM

Scott - I am shocked Mualuga was a 2nd rounder.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Sawx beat New Yawk 16-11 ... Lowell drives in six.

    ReplyDelete
  115. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  116. OK ...

Fins take Pat White ... another Wildcat? ... is Ronnie on the move?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anonymous7:39 PM

Jet - ESPN draft tracker lists Pat White as a WR.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Anonymous7:40 PM

    Wow just saw this.

Authorities were on a nationwide manhunt for a University of Georgia professor in the shooting deaths of three people Saturday at a community theater near campus.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Anyone seen Senderick Marks in the draft? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Ok, wifey is asleep. Remote now safely in my possession and HOCKEY reigns supreme. Go FLAMES!!!

AU1- Ovie undressed the whole Ranger team. The guy is absolutely amazing. My fav Ovie goal is the one in '06 where he was sliding on his back.

    ReplyDelete
  121. With White, they can use Williams as the RB, White as the Wildcat and ship Ronnie for another player.

    ReplyDelete
  122. wow, Blackhawks score 3 in less than 2 minutes, only the 1st was on pp

    ReplyDelete
  123. woo hoo for sen'derrick!

    ReplyDelete
  124. marks wasn't even on the board as one of kiper's best 6-7 DTs available. i'm glad he went somewhere that is not a death sentence for a career.

    ReplyDelete
  125. i see some zone read option being in the mix with white and brown in the backfield for the fins. don't forget ricky either. i saw ronnie fake to him on the end around a few times last year.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Good deal for Sen'Derrick ... with Haynesworth gone, there's a definite opportunity there.

    ReplyDelete
  127. That is a good team for Marks. I see where Troy had a DB go in the 2nd rd as well. The number of early round draft picks that program cranks out is pretty remarkable.

    ReplyDelete
  128. The SEC has higher academic standards than the Sun Belt, so they get borderline academics and they get guys who's measurables are less than desirable.

What is says is that Larry's staff can evaluate, coach, and develop.

    ReplyDelete
  129. AU1 - Dirty said tell you hello.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Whatta 'bout me? Whatta 'bout me?

    ReplyDelete
  131. All good points, Jet. I just think it is pretty amazing the name that Troy has made for itself in such a short period of time. I always wondered what Blakeney could have done if given the chance at a big-time program. He is an excellent coach.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Depressed ...

Larry would be battery acid at a big-time school.

But it will never happen. All because he helped a married kid who was crazy as a loon and a wife who was crazy as a double loon, and got caught on tape.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Jet, I think you're right about his chances of landing a bigger job. I wonder if he ever thinks about what might have been, or if he has made peace with the past and accepted the reality of his situation. It is sad to me for him to be basically blackballed for the Ramsey fiasco.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Depressed ...

I think it's both -- I'm sure he wonders, but I think he's made peace with it.

The thing I like about Larry is that he's confident enough in himself to be cool with the likes of Franklin taking the offense and running with it ... that's he's tough enough to make staff changes ... that he's willing to change how he does things.

    ReplyDelete
  135. New thread up for Sen'Derrick Marks.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Maybe I'm biased but I'm stoked about marks coming to the Titans.

    ReplyDelete
