Hey everyone. I'm at Talladega Superspeedway for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race this afternoon. It's good to break away from Auburn coverage every now and again because, you know, there's not much going on there right now.
I thought it would be prudent to let you all know what I am doing.
I'll post a few pics here. Otherwise, I gotta pay attention to this race ...
Start your engines!
ReplyDeleteSee how close you can get to Grand Marshall Saban...and then fart.
ReplyDeleteScoop and Stick, sounds like a good play!
ReplyDeleteThat's tomorrow, Will.
ReplyDeleteToday's grand marshal was Bubba The Love Sponge of Howard 101 fame. Very exciting.
I got 5 on it
ReplyDeleteEarnhardt missed the pit stall again. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteNASCAR can't be that hard...can it?
ReplyDeleteWill someone please explain to me why I enjoy watching the draft so much? It is not exciting, it is not entertaining, yet every year I find myself sitting in front of the TV watching it. Maybe it's the beers.
ReplyDeleteI read a few things last night on here about some big news regarding AU recruiting. Did anything ever materialize or did any other info become available?
ReplyDeleteThe draft is a reason not to do something constructive.
ReplyDeleteWill, I have absolutely no idea.Do you watch Miss America pageant and Academy Awards, too?
ReplyDeleteThe draft is cool as long as the beer is flowing...after that it's time to change venues or change the channel.
ReplyDeleteNope, can't stand awards shows. What is a pageant?
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I don't like the draft. I don't like beer.
ReplyDeletethe draft is an awards show
ReplyDeleteSean, you ever tried the Budweiser American Ale? They have been making it for a year or so now. I dig it.
ReplyDeleteTHT you make a valid point...Matt Stafford isn't a No. 1 pick, he's a scout's dream...hence...award show.
ReplyDeleteWill, I've had it, I like it. There are few beers I won't drink...the American Ale isn't one of those.
ReplyDeleteTyson Jackson from LSU went third. The first highlight they showed was him sacking Chris Todd.
ReplyDeleteTyson Jackson over Aaron Curry...that's suspect @ No. 3?
ReplyDeleteFinally, the Pens put the biscuit in the basket. Now HIT someone (preferably a Flyer).
ReplyDeleteI don't think Chris Todd gives up any sacks next year..
ReplyDeleteSean I agree about Jackson, and regardless of the details, I hope you are right about Todd.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he ever plays another snap at AU.
Will, you hit the nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteSean, what's your take on Sanchez from USC? Only 16 games started in college...
ReplyDeleteWell normally I would say pass, but Matt Cassell started zero games and won 11 with the Pats...so its up in the air but I'll go with bust.
ReplyDeleteJets trade up to take Sanchez...step one in NYJ screwing up their draft.
ReplyDeleteThats's a good point about Cassel. I hope Sanchez sends him a Thank You note tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHow bout a thank you note and a check?
ReplyDeleteI hope Andre Smith has a bra on today.
ReplyDeleteHe's sitting at home so he doesn't show off the man boobs.
ReplyDeleteDear Bungles, Andre Smith = soft in the pants. Thanks for sucking at life.
ReplyDeleteLoyal Steelers fan,
EZ
Heyward Bey over Crabtree????
ReplyDeleteOakland screws up again!
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens when no one will tell the fish monster 'no'.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Thank You notes. One from JAX to OAK is in order.
ReplyDeleteA thank you note and a beer of the month club membership to Al Davis.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Will, that's why the Raiders are the Raiders. Someone put Davis out of his misery along with their fans. Kill two birds with one stone.
ReplyDeleteAU up 4-1 on tiggers.
ReplyDeleteThe Raiders seem like the gutter of the NFL to me. All the trash from everywhere else seems to end up there.
ReplyDeletedid earnhardt install the tony franklin system?
ReplyDeleteEarnhardt is like the UFO's in Fyffe AL. I heard about them forever, but never seen anything out of them.
ReplyDeleteOK I am going out on a limb...
ReplyDeleteUnless Kodi, a year later, dominates fall ball and is the hands down starter...
Ya really gotta wonder... was CTF right all along about KB...
I couldn't care less who was right about whom, I want a guy in a blue jersey throwing TDs, I don't care who it is.
ReplyDeleteBanana shaped UFO's at that.
ReplyDeleteEarnhadt is the Anna Kournikova of NASCAR
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't the Raiders draft James Swinton? Al Davis loves fast players that do nothing on the field.
ReplyDeleteAndre Smith to the Bengals?
ReplyDeleteA slug to thugs.
good stuff depressed!!!
ReplyDeleteErin Andrews chosen to do interviews based on her probing questions on the sidelines of college football games. Great move by the worldwide leader in sports.
ReplyDeleteThe real albatross for me is Bey getting shut out in 2 ACC games. The ACC isn't known for it's stout defenses.
ReplyDeleteAuburn baseball begins the inevitable meltdown. 3...2...1...
ReplyDeleteErin Andrews is hot enough to probe where she likes...
ReplyDeleteErin Andrews and probe in the same sentence = how much?
ReplyDeleteI like Pettigrew and Crabtree alot right now.
ReplyDeleteI like Crabtree period, too bad the Titans have no chance at getting him.
ReplyDeleteI heard some talk that Ron Brown and J Camp might play into this draft as part of some trades today.
ReplyDeleteRonnie Brown would be a steal....J-Cam is decent, but he obviously needs to be in the right situation.
ReplyDeleteYou could do alot worse than Campbell.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I think Jason is definitely a top half starter in the NFL...but he needs to get the heck out of Washington.
ReplyDeleteThey mentioned him possibly going to Tampa. That would be cool. Wherever he goes will prob be my new favorite team.
ReplyDeleteTampa loves the W.C. offense, and he played well in our version in 2004, I think that would be a good fit for him.
ReplyDeleteWashington does something sensible for once...NYJ did them a favor.
ReplyDeleteHere come them Caints! Who dat?
ReplyDeletewhen campbell leaves the nfl, he will make a heckuva offensive coordinator. how many systems has he learned thus far?
ReplyDeleteHe's on his 22nd offensive coordinator in 8 years. That's at least 16 different systems, but you can't count Nallsminger.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but he's never had a "Dumbass."
ReplyDeleteI have the Sen'Derrick Marks story written.
ReplyDeleteNow ... just waiting for him to get drafted!
Congrats, THT
ReplyDeleteanother DB for the saints. i hope he understands he is supposed to cover the other teams WRs, not just run aimlessly around the field. go aints!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAU down 5-4 after two solo HR's.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am shocked....
Pick a winner Bolts!!!
ReplyDeletei can't help but think marks is being penalized for playing on a bad AU team last year. he can go inside or outside and should be a nice pickup for someone in the 3rd or so. i hope he can get into a situation like the patriots or steelers. i'd take him with the saints any day of the week.
ReplyDeleteBaseball playin a lot like the football team, half games I mean.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jet,
ReplyDeleteThe secret was me pretending I wasn't paying attention. working on hobby and glanced at tv only when I heard THTjr screaming in delight upstairs.
Uh, OK, Bolts. Not what I had in mind.
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew how to nap.
ReplyDeleteSharks & Ducks don't start til 10 EST tonight on versus. We get an hour of Calgary and Chicago starting at 9 EST before they move west.
baseball really really really really really really really PISSIN ME OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!
ReplyDeletecant bunt cant catch stupid stupid stupid
ReplyDeletedisgusting, sorry for the drama yall
ReplyDeleteJABA, I'm better now.
ReplyDeleteGoosfrabah, EZ.
ReplyDeleteI take it we're chokin' our guts out in baseball?
yep, just lost it bottom of the ninth. hargett whiffed a grounder for a chance to throw out at the plate. anyone seen Slater, did they keep him on as an assistant or something. im gonna puke.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised at how far Marks has supposedly fallen in the eyes of the NFL scouts. Kiper has him going in the 4th rd. He struggled some with injuries last season, but his first two seasons at AU were two of the best seasons by an AU D-lineman in years. He made plays in the backfield against the run and the pass, and played against top competition. Is an injured hamstring really causing him to fall that far?
ReplyDeleteHe was projected in the 2nd round and I think that's where he'll go. I don't think he ever was predicted to hit the first round. I think Kiper putting him in the 4th is a bit naive.
ReplyDeletei thought 10-20 was a bad sec record, we might dump on that this year if were not careful.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen such expensive paper, the only use of which is for starting a fire:
ReplyDeleteBurn it
THT ...
ReplyDeleteLet's a have a wienie roast!
THT, I can think of a few more things to do with that waste of parchment.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they should test it for BAR dna and up the bids.
ReplyDeleteTHT - What was the final score I missed it?
ReplyDeleteNow I am watching my Ravens pull in OL Oher which is more SEC goodness.
Yeah, 2nd rd would be a good spot for Marks. I just wonder, Kiper is usually pretty accurate about projecting where players will go. I would love to see Sen'Derrick end up on a winning team. One of my favorite AU players.
ReplyDeleteOher's just another guy for Harrison to run around.
ReplyDeleteThe prominent substance on the paper was alcohol based, which increased the likelihood that the Bahr touched the report at some point.
ReplyDeleteHarrison got lucky..: )
ReplyDeleteHe is just upset because the Ravens cut him....he got his money and will get fat and slow.
I hope.
ReplyDeleteTouched it or someone snorted a chalky white substance off of it. I'm sure if we dig deep enough, you could find some sort of residue.
ReplyDeleteFat and slow Harrison is still better than 90% of guys in the same position.
ReplyDeleteSteelers also cut him twice:^]
ReplyDeleteI think Oher will do well, I would have liked to have had him also. We will move on.
ReplyDeleteI can't diss him...he is a great player.
ReplyDeletepercy harvin to the vikes is a pretty good pick, imo.
ReplyDeletePercy Harvin to the Vikes? I guess they play on artificial grass.
ReplyDeleteI guess the Giants said, we'll get rid of Plax and just get a guy that reportedly gets high in his spare time. Upgrade? You make the choice?
ReplyDeleteTitans on the clock, finally!
ReplyDeleteThe Titans, with the 30th pick of the first round of the NFL Draft, select Dax Dellenbach, long snapper of Auburn University.
ReplyDeleteThe Steelers take Shipley center? He visited the organization earlier.
ReplyDeleteBeanie may be better than White but really, odd if it happens.
ReplyDeleteI heard the Colts may release Peyton Manning because he inquired about retiring and returning to play college football at Boston College.
ReplyDeleteNevermind
ReplyDeleteI was going to stroke out if they picked Beanie Wells! Kenny Britt could be good? I have never heard of him.
ReplyDeleteThat kid from Rutgers is pretty good, but as always we'll have to see.
ReplyDeletesorry, AU1, I was enjoying some shrimp scampi.
ReplyDeletePenguins 5 Flyers 3.
Pens overcame 3-0 deficit and got go ahead goal midway through 3rd and empty netter to close it out. YEA!!!
Which means Pens vs Caps if Caps win. Yikes!!!
laurinitis a 2nd rounder?
ReplyDeleteNo worries. Just got a call from my sister.
ReplyDeleteOn the AU sports front. Auburn Mens Lax, ranked #1 in the SELC Championship Tournament is beating FSU 3-2.
Who doesn't know what lax is?
THT - Tell me that wasn't an awesome Ovechkin goal last night?
ReplyDeleteScott - I am shocked Mualuga was a 2nd rounder.
ReplyDeleteSawx beat New Yawk 16-11 ... Lowell drives in six.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteOK ...
ReplyDeleteFins take Pat White ... another Wildcat? ... is Ronnie on the move?
Jet - ESPN draft tracker lists Pat White as a WR.
ReplyDeleteWow just saw this.
ReplyDeleteAuthorities were on a nationwide manhunt for a University of Georgia professor in the shooting deaths of three people Saturday at a community theater near campus.
Anyone seen Senderick Marks in the draft? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
ReplyDeleteOk, wifey is asleep. Remote now safely in my possession and HOCKEY reigns supreme. Go FLAMES!!!
ReplyDeleteAU1- Ovie undressed the whole Ranger team. The guy is absolutely amazing. My fav Ovie goal is the one in '06 where he was sliding on his back.
With White, they can use Williams as the RB, White as the Wildcat and ship Ronnie for another player.
ReplyDeletewow, Blackhawks score 3 in less than 2 minutes, only the 1st was on pp
ReplyDeletewoo hoo for sen'derrick!
ReplyDeletemarks wasn't even on the board as one of kiper's best 6-7 DTs available. i'm glad he went somewhere that is not a death sentence for a career.
ReplyDeletei see some zone read option being in the mix with white and brown in the backfield for the fins. don't forget ricky either. i saw ronnie fake to him on the end around a few times last year.
ReplyDeleteGood deal for Sen'Derrick ... with Haynesworth gone, there's a definite opportunity there.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good team for Marks. I see where Troy had a DB go in the 2nd rd as well. The number of early round draft picks that program cranks out is pretty remarkable.
ReplyDeleteThe SEC has higher academic standards than the Sun Belt, so they get borderline academics and they get guys who's measurables are less than desirable.
ReplyDeleteWhat is says is that Larry's staff can evaluate, coach, and develop.
AU1 - Dirty said tell you hello.
ReplyDeleteWhatta 'bout me? Whatta 'bout me?
ReplyDeleteAll good points, Jet. I just think it is pretty amazing the name that Troy has made for itself in such a short period of time. I always wondered what Blakeney could have done if given the chance at a big-time program. He is an excellent coach.
ReplyDeleteDepressed ...
ReplyDeleteLarry would be battery acid at a big-time school.
But it will never happen. All because he helped a married kid who was crazy as a loon and a wife who was crazy as a double loon, and got caught on tape.
Jet, I think you're right about his chances of landing a bigger job. I wonder if he ever thinks about what might have been, or if he has made peace with the past and accepted the reality of his situation. It is sad to me for him to be basically blackballed for the Ramsey fiasco.
ReplyDeleteDepressed ...
ReplyDeleteI think it's both -- I'm sure he wonders, but I think he's made peace with it.
The thing I like about Larry is that he's confident enough in himself to be cool with the likes of Franklin taking the offense and running with it ... that's he's tough enough to make staff changes ... that he's willing to change how he does things.
New thread up for Sen'Derrick Marks.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm biased but I'm stoked about marks coming to the Titans.
ReplyDelete
