Schedule update

Hey everyone. Glad to see the cable vs. DirecTV vs. Dish Network debate raging. I have strong opinions. You know them.

TODAY: Players will be available around 4 p.m. I'm aiming to get a Players Report (I guess you'd call it that) around 5:30 p.m. Maybe a video after that. Practice commences at 7 p.m. I'll be around for that, too.

In other words, I'll probably be updating into the wee hours. If you don't stay up late, just come check us out in the morning.

Only six days until 4/20 ...

  5. JGT, radio virtuoso. Nice job yesterday.

  6. I was just watching some video on auburnsports.com of Trooper Taylor and found his comments on Montez interesting.

This is some of it (losely):
"...for me to talk about him he's gotta be out there playing...talking about potential dont do any good, until he's out there playing I got nothing to say..."
He was asked about what exactly was his injury and he said he wasn't allowed to talk about injuries, but then said, "I know what his injury is gonna be if he takes too much longer." (laughter)
"I'm not downing him, I just want him to push himself cuz he does have some ability from what i saw on tape."

    ReplyDelete
  7. Gee I wonder what kind of zaniness will be going on today on the HABOTN?!?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Gopher!
Have a rum punch my man.

    ReplyDelete
  9. No Montez, No Mckenzie. I wish these guys would/could play. Wonder what's going on with all that.

  11. Mr. Jay G Tate has strong opinions on the cable v satellite thing?

    ReplyDelete
  12. On PPL's progress:
"It's important to me that his teammates see that he's pushing himself...if he's getting treatment once a day, that ain't good enough...I want 3 or 4 times a day
I want him to know that when he's not with me he's over there with yox...that was different for him.
He needs to earn his teammates respect."

    On Tim Hawthorne:
(this is who Jay G. is telling us is going to be a performer if I heard him correctly on the air yesterday)
Coach Troop said, "Tim Hawthorne coming into his own... really proud of that kid... kinda taking a leadership role...he's on his way...pleasantly surprised"

Again, all of this if from a video on auburnsports.com

  13. BTW Steve, a buddy of mine here at work has started figuring out how to rig his car for paintballs, and was glad to see someone else out in the world felt the same way.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I liked Troops comment on potential. He said something like potential is one of the most insulting complements because it means you haven't done anything. Troop seems to be a regular Mark Twain.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Paint balls are good.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I really like our staff's attitude towards performance. Atleast it FEELS like we're going in a better direction than where we were last fall. Although I do remember the optimism during last spring, too.

  17. ever since i installed McAfee Security on my home computer, my high speed is stuck in neutral. anyone know how to fix this problem?

oh, and i have Comcast, so that's most of the problem.

Gday!! Heading into a meeting and thank you for giving some insights on what to do for my HD and Sports fix.

mrtommyd, I agree with you 100%.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Steve, will you still be singing Cable's praises when they start billing you for bandwidth usage I wonder?

Good suggestion about USB, Monica. I'll have to see if that old Tivo box even has a port.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I use Avira antivirus. It is free and works well.

    ReplyDelete
  25. i use Valtrex anti-virus. it's all about suppression

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous10:08 AM

    4/20

    nice touch, JGT

    ReplyDelete
  27. McAfee is free with Comcast, but shoot, my old AOL dial-up from 10 years ago is just as fast as what i'm dealing with now. sux. thanks fellas.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It is important to remember that your computer can still spread the virus while on Valtrex.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous10:11 AM

Call me stupid, but what is happening on 4/20?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, nice touch on the 4-20 remark

I'm drinkin plenty of fluids in preparation for Panic this weekend in orange beach, Ill need it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. On 4/20 people get high, Luv

Also, did you check out the Charter strategy I recommended for you on the last thread?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous10:18 AM

Is that from a WP song? I don't know anything by them.

I saw the strategy to use on Charter, michael. We'll see if it works. I'd rather get a year or more out of them, instead of just 6months.

    ReplyDelete
  33. People get high multiple times a day. On 4/20, you get to claim its really cool (especially those in middle school!).

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous10:19 AM

OH! Thanks, sensi. I'm not a pot smoker, so I knew nothing about this.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous10:22 AM

    I learned something new today!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Luv, it takes persistence with the cable companies. I usually saved about 20 bucks a month, so it is up to you whether you feel like being on the phone with them every three months for that. For some, I imagine it is not worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous10:25 AM

Not for $20, no. I'm sure when you were in college, though, that was drinking money!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah and if you light up AT 4:20 on 4/20 it's even better ..... so I'm told.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sorry to be the heretical voice of dissent, but I could care less if the coaching staff excludes the media from practices. If CGC believes that the media presence interferes with his all-important initial assessment of the players, then, by all means, clear 'em out. This includes ... JGT [insert stunned gasp from the fawning gallery and unusual sycophants here].

And please don't tell me that media "distractions" are actually helpful and that now players won't be able to concentrate in a packed stadium. The presence of hulking and intimidating reporters, flash bulbls, and the "noice" of no. 2 pencils on notepads are not the "media distractions" that CGC is referring to and trying to reduce during this inaugural Spring period.

Enough already with the harping and snide comments about this and grousing about the poor, oppressed beat hacks who can't get a scoop.

Perhaps a combat tour in TTown with Darlin' Nicky would provide some fresh perspective about whether Auburn's staff is media friendly or not. From the outside looking in, this staff seems pretty quotable and accessible to me but who really cares? If they didn't say a word until kicking some arse on Saturday, that'd be just fine.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous10:33 AM

Who peed in your corn flakes this morning? I haven't seen any "harping and snide comments about this and grousing about the poor, oppressed beat hacks who can't get a scoop" lately. GOSH!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Commissioner, I too don't mind media being excluded and understand the coaches' reasoning, but uhhh.. who was even talking about that? Your tone suggests that you just can't take any more of it, but no one has even said anything about it recently.

It's Jay G's blog, he can talk about whatever he wants to. I disagree with him on the media at practice issue, and so have a few others, but who cares?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Comm'r, I don't like the closed practices either, but I agree that if it is what the coaches think is best, I have no problem with it.

I think what the coaches want to avoid is having a player read about how good he is. Coaches want the players focused on how good they can be.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yea, Luv and Michael. I have to agree. The post was more suited to a different forum.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Comm'r, nobody is disagreeing with you. I would suggest stopping the rant before you end up in the digital oblivion.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  46. I didn't even realize strawmen could inflict flesh wounds!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Commish, the only problem i have with your post is it is way too long. I don't have the attention span to

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am stuck in a meeting today.

    ReplyDelete
  49. "...Valtrex can also decrease attention span loss symptoms that usually accompany herpes."

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why did I think 4:20 came out of Californis? I was right in thinking this. This has to be the most dis-jointed (pun intended) place in all of the USA.
If you have tried it once and didn't like it why try again.
If California does it every one seems to want to follow like a bunch of sheep right over the cliff.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have a secret agenda and it has nothing to do with cable vs. dish, I promise.

    Harrison, you're absolutely correct, I

    ReplyDelete
  56. Comm'r: Love it or leave it, homes.

You complaining about free content is less becoming than me complaining about access at Auburn. Plus, we're talking about my job and the arbitrary obstacles that impede my ability to provide comprehensive reports.

    What's your excuse?

    Love,
    jgt

    ReplyDelete
  57. I wasn't saying yea or nay on cannabis with the 4/20 comment, btw.

I have a defensive driving seminar that day ...

    ReplyDelete
  58. My favorite pirate article so far:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090413/ap_on_re_af/piracy

Headline read yesterday: "Obama pledges to fight piracy; pirates vow revenge". They actually changed it today to something less cool, but trust me, it was there.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Valtrex cures forucm. That's what I hear.

    ReplyDelete
  60. JGT, just between us, stirring the pot is good for ratings and network deals. Every good plot needs a villain. Garrrrrrrr

    ReplyDelete
  61. No Monica, it just controls forucm outbreaks. There is no known cure for forucm.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Jay G,
Meet me next Monday and well celebrate together. You'll wanna leave the wife at home on this mission though.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Pot stirring or pot smoking? What are we talking about here?

    ReplyDelete
  66. A stirred pot never smokes.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Holy wordplay, Batman!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Melting pot? Clay pots? Ceramic pots?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Smoked Pot does stir the old desire.

    ReplyDelete
  70. all thi spot talk makes me hungry. and paranoid

    ReplyDelete
  71. No more talking about spots.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Or spotted bears.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm gonna visit Mars next Monday

    ReplyDelete
  74. speaking of bears, Discovery has a show call "Bear Attack". i won't watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Comm,

"JGT, just between us, stirring the pot is good for ratings and network deals. Every good plot needs a villain. Garrrrrrrr"

I assume you are referring to Finebaum?

Any of you younger Hotties ever hear of Mark Belcher?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Non, but I know his cousin, Harry Burper! And his nephew too, Francis Farter!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anonymous11:35 AM

Ha Ha. This is a real person. He earned his B.S. at Auburn in 1994.

    ReplyDelete
  82. DEA knows exactly where to find me.

Wonder why they call him "Bags"? Hmmmmmm........

    ReplyDelete
  83. Do Puppets partake in the wacky tobacky?

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm not sure. I need to check my puppet book, but I am almost certain they don't have lungs. They may do it to look cool, though.

    ReplyDelete
  85. puppets are pushers. we know steppenwolf's opinion of pushers.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I think puppets enjoy PCP

    ReplyDelete
  87. that's why their eyes are so big and they're all twitchy

    ReplyDelete
  88. Well that explains some other things, too. I saw a CSI one time where a guy on PCP went crazy and then killed and ate his girlfriend.

So two things: maybe puppets wouldn't be so bloodthirsty if not for the PCP, and Harrison needs to add "Boyfriend High on PCP" to his list of things he will not be eaten by.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Harrison, thanks for recommending Valtrex for my computer anti virus....JERK! Now my computer has headaches, nausea, depression, decreased urination, vision changes, an unexplained skin rash, diarrhea, hair loss, and kidney failure.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah, but at least now your computer won't get other computers pregnant. Valtrex can be used by guys as birth control also, right?

    ReplyDelete
  91. i would think decreased urination from your computer is a good thing.

Valtrex is not 100% effective. It works best when you tell girls you forgot to take it

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous12:14 PM

Has puppet hour started early today?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Wait a minute! So you have to pay $6/month to recieve updates for Dish?! Is that just to have them sent over the satellite? What about if I hook it up to a broadband connection, would I still have to pay for updates?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I bet telling a girl you forgot to take your Valtrex would severely limit your chances of getting her pregnant.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Does it say it is not %100 effective as birth control on the box? Maybe I should cancel that lawsuit I filed against that pharmaceutical company after the third time my wife got pregnant while I was on Valtrex.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I like how I put the percent sign in front of the number, as if it were the dollar sign. What a moron.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous12:21 PM

Are there pirate puppets or are pirates just puppets?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Y'all need to stick to sweet libations. Nobody ever did anything stupid while drunk.

    ReplyDelete
  99. It says on the box. "may be used a birth control. if you're a moron."

    ReplyDelete
  100. the puppets from sesame street (call them muppets if you like) ruined my life!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well us morons never read the box, so a lot of help that is to me.

I'll tell you another time I wish I had read the box:

    ReplyDelete
  102. D.Miller -- I think a phone or (hardwired) broadband connection will eliminate the need for a $6/month charge.

Also, I'm the Joe Montana of Not Getting My Girl Pregnant: I'm really good at it and don't know why.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous12:27 PM

    LOL scott, why? What happened?

    ReplyDelete
  104. The letters t, m and i mean nothing to me.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Anonymous12:30 PM

Why do you say that Scott?

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous12:31 PM

JGT - There is never enough information, we should always be seeking knowledge.

    ReplyDelete
  107. AU1N04 - I think that a puppet can be a pirate, but in no case can a pirate be a puppet.

Scott - Sesame Street has destroyed a lot of lives. There are support groups I can get you in contact with

Jay - I am the Ryan Leaf of not getting my girl pregnant.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hey Harrsion, are you reading that from a box you have at home or at work?

    ReplyDelete
  109. College Ryan Leaf or NFL Ryan Leaf?

Or even better wonderlic Ryan Leaf? If you the wonderlic Ryan Leaf then congrats, you never need to buy Valtrex again, your never getting her knocked up.

    ReplyDelete
  110. "Six days till 4/20"

Rumor has it The Gridiron Breakdown is spending almost the entire show Tuesday on Auburn and the Wednesday show on Alabama.

Tune it starting at 7 pm CDT.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Sensi, I'm going to the Yankees game tonight. I'm hoping to see Jeter throw a few pitches, rumor has it he has Swisher type stuff.

Guess you won't be watching, busy doing your show. Maybe I'll listen to the archive tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Sensi why is it when I listen one of you sounds like you are sitting in my lap and the other one is talking through a locked bathroom door?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Will- at work, although my box at home is stolen from work.

I am the Joe Mantegna of not getting my wife knocked up

    ReplyDelete
  118. Is everybody trying to get knocked up...or trying not to?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Anonymous12:43 PM

    Digger,

That's all about the BTR interface and how different cell phones sound through the system.

We don't have faders to control any of that.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Thanks Sensi should have thought about that myself.

    ReplyDelete

I am still in a holding pattern on why Sesame Street was bad for Scott.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Nobody knows what they are doing therefore no answer to my question.

Steam on brothers the shoreline is just ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  123. think about it. how was i supposed to compete with big bird, the cookie monster, bert and ernie and the number of the day? all i had was the occasional visiting mailman, a random train conducter and a cheesy sweater. i never got the budget i deserved! a beautiful day in the neighborhood my a$$!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Scott- I always thought the mailman on Mr. Rodgers being named Mr. McFeely was really creepy

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anonymous12:51 PM

Scott - Well you could have been in the ghetto with Mr. Robinson's Neybahood

    ReplyDelete
  126. It's all so very confusing.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I always thought my elementary school nurse, Nurse McFeely, was a little strange also. Stranger still was the fact that he didn't wear scrubs, her wore old tattered clothes and had a long beard. Even stranger still was the fact that his appointments only occurred during recess, and the only notification you got for an appointment was when he yelled, "Come see Nurse McFeely!" from the bushes.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Anonymous12:53 PM

    Okidoke, last meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  129. What is going on today? I think everyone is in ADD mode today! I also think Commander is Mr. United and his weird opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  130. hilarious Michael. i'm proud of you

    ReplyDelete

  142. A couple of thoughts ...

I am the Terry Bowden of procreation. Two pregnancies and then that was it.

Does the Navy have SEALS that are dedicated puppet snipers? I might solve a problem if they did.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Can I be the Bronco Nagurski of not getting my girlfriend pregnant?

    ReplyDelete
  144. There is no debate. Cable is faster, cheaper and can handle encryption better than DSL or Sat.

Of course, since I work for a cable company and employees get Internet and TV service for free (phone costs me $26 per month) I MIGHT be somewhat biased......

    Sullivan013

    ReplyDelete
  145. Sullivan, where I am, DSL is cheaper and faster. Don't know what you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  146. As a new Auburn fan and out of general ignorance, why do UA fans think their football program is God's gift to America?

    ReplyDelete
  147. My Bellsouth DSL is certainly slower than the charter high speed internet I had in college. However, it doesn't go out nearly as much.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I was paying more for Comcast and it was coming back at around 4.3 and was less stable. I pay less for ATT 6.0 and it actually comes back a bit faster @ 6.1 or 6.2.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Seansie
It is due to inbreeding, the gene is passed on from genraton to generation

    ReplyDelete
  150. other than occasionally having to reset my modem, my cable internet doesn't ever go out.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Down here we have Verizon fios, its supposedly a good bit faster than broadband. I will prob switch to it at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I guess UA fans are like the Portugues who still consider themselves to be a Naval power and big on the INTL trading circuit.

    ReplyDelete
  153. So my last comment is very Dennis Miller-esque and I even mispelled Portuguese, I apologize to everyone. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  154. seanzie,

i was chatting with a bama fan about that the other day. their arrogance comes from a past that half of their fanbase wasn't even alive to witness. in the last 25 years, i think auburn has won the iron bowl 14 times. we have an sec title, and a 13-0 season in the most difficult conference in the nation. most alabama fans 25 years old or younger will still tell you that they have been the dominant program, because they are delusional and let what happened before they ever existed sway their opinion on the recent past.

i'm 22 years old and am pretty happy with what i have witnessed so far in my life as an auburn fan. i could care less about what happened in the 70's

    ReplyDelete
  155. Wow, that was a crazy goal by Liverpool.

    ESPN 2 - Champions League

    ReplyDelete
  156. Bama is a bunch of idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Miller - This was Dirty's response to the internet provider in Bham question:

"almost everybody i know has their's bundled with their cable like we do - Brighthouse"

    ReplyDelete
  158. For the record, you're all jealous of UAT and it shows because you can't stop talking about them.

    Aaaand a JUDY CHOP!

    ReplyDelete
  159. Anonymous2:20 PM

barkley - thanks for epitomizing apathy for us all

    ReplyDelete
  160. Here's what I want:

    1. The expectation to win based on the construction of a program that reloads.
    2. To fulfill positive expectations.

    Here's what I don't want:

    1. The delusion of expecting to win when there is no foundational basis for such.
    2. A desire to be "underrated" because "we do much better when we're under the radar."

As a one who spent the formative fan years in the 1970s, rest assured, the lessons are seared in my brain and to my very soul.

You know how I feel about them. So, on a certain level, what happened then matters to some of us. It's what fuels us.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Watch that judy chop lil missy!

I don't listen to Roundtable when Jay G. isn't on so I hate that I missed today's installment of "Monica is living rent free in Mr. U's head."

    He wants me BAYUD.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Well, there is no wonder we are jealous of UAT. Look at the legacy. There was Coach Fran, Mike "F'n" Shula, Mike "Topless Dancer" Price, and the greatest of all Bama coaches, Mike "How did I lose that Iron Bowl?" Dubose. I stand in awe of UAT.

  166. If Bear Bryant were alive I'd scissor kick him in the face.

Since he's not, I'll settle for scissor kicking that guy that has the Bear tatted on his back.

As a new Auburn fan and out of general ignorance, why do UA fans think their football program is God's gift to America?
Seanzie, I've lived in AL for 10 years and have been wondering the same thing.

Seanzie - I am not sure either. Maryland doesn't and Coach Bryant was there...TX A&M doesn't and Bryant coached there.

  174. There's also a phenomenon I've noticed too where anyone from the north that moves to Alabama immediately becomes an Alabama football fan. Their reasoning? It's the name of the state.

Taylor Swift should write a song about Bama and Auburn hate.

I've heard that Brighthouse is as bad as Charter. Also, only Charter cable is available in our area.

I am the exception to that rule! It didn't take me long to realize I hated bama.

  184. For those fans who weren't around during the 70's, I think it is hard to realize the impact Coach Dye made on the AU program. He truly understood Alabama and knew how to put Auburn on a level playing field with them. Things went sour toward the end, but he really was the man in my mind who gave the Auburn fans confidence again.

depressed, I remember that era and really enjoyed reading about it in Dye's book.

He worked hard to put AU on the level playing field. Bowden cashed in fast and then imploded under his own success/devices. Tuberville took advantage of Alabama's own ineptitude and flux in the SEC.

Like him or not, Auburn hasn't had a leader like Dye since his time.

  189. Dye is Auburn's greatest coach for that very reason, IMO.
