Kentucky DE busted by NCAA

Hey everyone. This isn't Auburn-related, but I think you'll find it interesting.

Jeremy Jarmon, a senior-to-be at Kentucky, had his amateur status stripped by the NCAA Friday for testing positive for a banned substance. The school held a press conference at 9 a.m. CDT Saturday to announce the NCAA's decision.

Jarmon took a supplement that hadn't been approved by UK. These players are instructed very clearly to not put anything in their bodies without the staff's approval, so Jarmon was swimming without a lifeguard and he knew it. Poor decision, no doubt, but I feel bad for the kid.

John Clay of the Lexington Herald-Leader liveblogged the press conference.

His two most important posts:
  • Says he got a vitamin at a health food store. Said a supplement was recommended. He wanted only to purchase a vitamin. Said he also changed his protein shake from what UK provided.

  • Says he told UK what he was taking, but it was too late.

  1. Good morning JGT - I put some banned Fudge Sticks in my system this morning. I'm just hoping I don't have a random drug test today.

  2. Oh, that sucks big time.

    ReplyDelete
  3. My XBox red-ringed last night.

    That sucks, too.

    Sucks less than Jarmon's situation.

    ReplyDelete
  4. maybe I'm just too skeptical, but I think most of the stuff at those "health food stores" is a bunch of baloney.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I feel the same way, THT.

Is THTjr going to see the Hammers this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  6. My xbox has yet to do it...but I'm sure it will now that I've said otherwise...on the record no less.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yep, he'll be in the stands tomorrow afternoon GMT for West Ham vs Middlebrough

    ReplyDelete
  8. Great. He gets to see Gareth Southgate on his death knell.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I like Gareth Southgate, for the record.

  13. My last video game was this:

    Football

    ReplyDelete
  14. My sister-in-law gave it to me. MrsTHT threw it to an untimely death from our 3rd floor balcony not long thereafter.

    ReplyDelete
  15. that video game circa 1979, same as the Louise Goffin song playing now on my iTunes

    ReplyDelete
  16. Jay does the warranty still apply?

    ReplyDelete
  17. not for my Mattel football game :-(

despite landing in the grass, it ended up in a bunch of pieces. I've never doubted a promise from MrsTHT since!

"Turn that thing off or I'll throw it out the door"

    ReplyDelete
  18. The three-year warranty is applicable! Yay.

    ReplyDelete
  19. its a shame, hopefully something positive will come out of this for him.

    Mornin' Jet!

    Turn it up.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, Dear Leader ...

When there's a coup, it always -- ALWAYS -- originates in the War Department.

  28. Hola Hotties -

WTC - I managed to survive 18 miles today in relatively good shape. Thanks for the update/warning. I'll plot out the route and see how the elevation changes compare to what I'm forced to run around here regularly. If I don't like it, I'll stay clear of it and we'll find another.

THT - Thanks too you and Molly for having ice cream on my behalf. I suspect a family trip this weekend to Carvel is in order.

JGT - What is "red ringed" as it relates to X-Box? There are no game systems in the house here, but being relatively quick on the uptake, I gather it means you had a system crash.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Red ringing x-box is when the light ring around the xbox logo turns red instead of green.

Technically .. the box has hit an unrecoverable error.

  30. I think it is flooding in the gump again! Is time to build an ark?

Okay, congrats on the anniversaries but ya'll got a ways to catch up....we just celebrated 31 years!

Sorry for the Jarmon kid...guess they just don't get it.

  31. i used to have one of those electric football games in which the players moved only because of the vibration of the field. good times. the chiefs never lost to the cowboys on my game.

  32. Hey Hotties. Hope your having a great Memorial Day Weekend. Please remember all those who gave their lives so we can enjoy the freedoms that we enjoy today in this great country.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sean,
I'm on DC #6 and I see no end in sight. It's like I can't get caught up on fluids today. My wife's KO should have a big bump up next week solely on my efforts.

    ReplyDelete
  34. JayGT - those all important Man U footballers are hogging the live slot tomorrow on FSC.

However, West Ham & Middlesbrough will be shown on tape delay at 1 pm EDT after the Man U vs Hull match

    ReplyDelete
  35. Since I Willed the thread, I'm going to leave now. MissTHT and I are going to watch the Hurricanes and Penguins in Raleigh.

    GO PENS!!!

  36. Slow day for the HABOTN.

  37. Hey Hotties..Just got back from MV and had a great time...pics on facebook to come later...

Jay- Excellent job on the CGC profile..very nicely done..I do wonder what you think of him personally..Like of dislike? How many coaches have you seen come and go at AU?

As far as which coach to do next..since you started with the big dog...go coordinators next...

  41. i imagine you noticed chiz's 5-19 record was mentioned in the comments section about poor coaching performances. i've never been stuck on that even when he was hired. a friend of mine from went to grad school in ames and said the weather was absolutely miserable and there was very little to do but read and get stoned. i just don't see the recruits turning down oklahoma, texas, iowa, colorado etc. to go spend their college years in siberia. i'd like to see $aban up in ames and see what recruits the ISU boosters can afford.

and happy war heros day to all.

  42. Hello Hot Ones! I'm blogging from behind enemy lines. I'm waiting for a reception to start at the grand Paul Bear Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Oh how my hate has grown! Waiting for this reception to start just amplifies it!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love living in Georgia for that very reason big cat. Though it sucks losing to the Dawgs almost as bad.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bigcat- just drink heavily to get thru it. Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I see where Ole Miss was reported for a secondary violation. Looks like the SEC is now becoming the conference that cheats just a little. Nothing will come of it, but I think Slive might address this issue as it seems a pattern is evolving with these coaches.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Man, I hate to hear of a kid doing something stupid with such severe consequences, but all schools now beat NCAA rules into their heads. Sometime you have to get bit to learn.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It seems that cousin humper has become a secret catch phrase to reference a rival fan base. I think I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Steve- I love the "cousin humper" name for the bammers!...I didn't come up with it and I forgot who started it but would the one behind it please stand up? so I can toast your brilliance!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Unless I am mistaken, "cousin humper" is a jetism from a Bama hate themed post I have vague recollections of.

Go figure on: (1) a jet-hate-bama post (2) me having vague recollections.

by the way - baked sweet potatoes are heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think you are right eh..so (and I must say this is a much better time for this)here's to Jet the genius!..

    ReplyDelete
  51. I really can't bear anything Bama. I just have to walk away whenever it's encountered.

    ReplyDelete
  52. In case all the Braves fans didn't know, the Braves won their first interleague series against the 1st Place AL East Blue Jays tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  53. cousin humpers do not deserve baked sweet potato. especially if covered in butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. sweet potato fries are also outta sight and off limits to cousin humpers.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, I'm a little slow getting the puter up and running this morning... and still no good morning posts from the Hotties, so.

    GOOD MORNING HOTTIES!!!

RISE AND SHINE AND HATE BAMA!!

    WARRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Didn't the same thing happen to Todd Bates?

    ReplyDelete
  56. One other thing....

Either Josh Moon is trying to stir up the Bama and Auburn fans.....OR he needs to lay off the crack pipe.

    Moon

  57. Hi FSJ,

Yep, as he states as the #1 reason for the article "to generate talk". There's no easier way to do that than to write stuff that will make readers mad. I think he was successful.

  58. What up Hotties...it looks like another wet and inside type day on this Memorial Day weekend...bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  62. with human chorionic growth hormone, one runs the risk of pregnancy.

    ReplyDelete
  63. could you redshirt for that reason?

    ReplyDelete

  71. Jay Stew recipe:

    Beef bullion
    Cream of Mushroom
    Carrots
    Pickles
    Peanut Butter
    Chocolate
    Beef jerky
    Lactaid milk
    Honey
    Sea Salt

  73. ehyou-
I agree, that's why I go by Tar Heel Tiger

    ReplyDelete
  74. Michael- I substitute apple butter for peanut butter and no fungus at all, creamed or otherwise. As for the honey, it's got to be sourwood.

  75. Miami Dolphins defensive end Randy Starks was arrested because he hit an officer with a slow moving freightliner truck There were 13 people in the cab.

Obviously when you stick 13 people in that cab (for 4) people will have to sit in laps etc.

Hi jhag, it's great to hear from you.

wartiger - you crack me up

    ReplyDelete
  82. wartiger - I used to be afflicted with an SPD, substanceless posting disorder. Then I learned how to put substance in just about every post by including any one of the following, listed in increasing importance:
    1. Penguins reference... GO PENS!
    2. WAR EAGLE!!!
    3. Reference to an Auburn legend (see above post)
    4. Monica
    It's that easy!

    WAR EAGLE!!!
