Thanks for doing your part in making our Thursday night Campfire an overwhelming success.We had a total of 218 participants, which is a significant increase from Wednesday's event. Thanks for that.
We discussed the new verb "chizzing", a fake Lache Seastrunk was banhammered for nebulous offenses, wino said Auburn will go 10-2 and everyone seemed to agree that more commitments from good prospects would be a good thing to experience.
All in all, I call that a success.
Gene Chizik is the first speaker tomorrow. Since I'll be following him around and talking with AC and Trott, I can't say exactly when blog posts will resume. I plan to have stuff up no later than 9 a.m. and we'll go from there.
PROGRAMMING NOTE: "Hatin' With Jay G" will resume tomorrow on Supersport 930 AM out of Jackson, Miss. I am supposed to hit the airwaves/internet at 7:30 in the a.m.

HAPPY JAMES OWENS DAY!!!
James Owens played on the 1971 team with Sullivan and Beasley, and was an integral part of the 1972 Amazins. Mr. Owens was the 1st African-American Auburn football player (and 2nd African-American athlete at Auburn, the first being roundballer Henry Harris one year earlier). Perhaps the courage it took to be that person is why I admired him so much when I was a kid. The first time I got to see him play was his sophomore year, in a 44-0 Auburn romp at Clemson on October 10, 1970.

ReplyDeleteMatt. I have mixed feelings about Quantum of Solace. They are rapidly moving from the Ian Flemming's James Bond to Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne duplicate.

ReplyDeleteWell, according to Coach Luper we should expect a commitment today and 6/7 more over the next ten days. Should be interesting and it seems that kids are already committed, but just playing out as the coaching staff wants them to.
ReplyDeleteI would have taken us 3 or 4 games to get to 44 last year.
ReplyDeleteIf we had a good team and played Clemson in the Tub era, it would have never gotten to 44-0. Tub would have slammed on the brakes at 21-0 and we would have held on to win 24-10 or something.
