Hey everyone. This is not Auburn-related.
Underrated part of my job: Hearing the marching bands every week. I think Auburn has a swell band. They don't play anything real crazy, but they handle their business.
Here is USC's band making me happy by playing Avenged Sevenfold's "Almost Easy." Brilliant.
There was a band in that clip????? all I saw were cheerleaders! Daddy likey!
ReplyDeleteThose gals have nothing on the 1999 Okla. State dance team.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if McCready still has a picture of that crew ...
They ain't got nothin on Quentin Groves leading the Auburn band in a rendition of Rammer Jammer at JHS.
ReplyDeleteHere is an excellent story on media days by the Great One.
ReplyDeleteLSU has the best band in the SEC, IMO...
ReplyDeleteFollowed closely by UGA.
Alabama's band has gone down since Katrhryn Scott Calhoun Scott Mann Scott retired.
Auburn's seems to have improved since I was in school.
Auburn's band has more depth than Auburn's football team.
ReplyDeleteBand quality? I definitely don't have a strong opinion on that one.
ReplyDeleteSalsa, I don't know if you are aware, but bands don't usually have a lot of backups.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but there is a hierarchy. I think it is pretty clear that our 3rd chair trumpet is better than most schools' 2nd chair. Thus, depth.
ReplyDeleteSteve, I am sure you are not aware of just how bad a shape Auburn's football team is in.
ReplyDeleteBut you'll be aware of that soon enough.
La. Tech is coming and they won't be the last team to lay the smack on Auburn in 2009.
36-0 was just the start.
On another note, FSJ is right - Bama's band is *yawn* boring at times.
Salsa, I am very aware of both the shape of Auburn's football team and the childish Bambis that like to make stupid comments.
ReplyDeleteAnd Bama is the team that tends to lose to small schools in Louisiana.
ReplyDeleteThanks for resorting to name calling, Steve.
ReplyDeleteI was just stating my opinion.
No need to go gutter with it.
Anyways, I'm ready for football. Watching these replays on the ESPN family of networks just isn't getting it done.
Come to think of it, Bama had a two game losing streak to La. Tech. You must be confusing Bama with Auburn. It is understandable. Bambis aren't that smart.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I don't do name calling.
ReplyDeleteit smells like al.com in here; stale mustard and busch light with a hint of instigation.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the smell. I stepped in some Salsa.
ReplyDeleteMichael - Do I have permission to call the shark person a bammer?
ReplyDeleteJust read an article form Southern Pigskins on the top 5 o lines in the SEC.
ReplyDeleteAU was not in it...
We may be thin but dang the ones we got are good!! 2-3 year starters for the most part.. thay had alabama as 5 Miss as 4 and ark as a watch out for....
DL, that is probably because our offensive line stunk it up last season. When your offensive line stinks it up, having the starters returning isn't necessarily a good thing.
ReplyDeleteIn our case, we are likely underrated because the guy didn't likely figure in the effects of the CTF Ethiopian diet plan on the linemen.
Here is an interesting blog right after our biggest win last season.
ReplyDeleteZiemba is going to have those boys fired up this year. The best thing we have going for our OL may be his leadership this season.
ReplyDeleteSalsa Shark @1:50 - that was LOL funny. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteI am always in my seat when the AU Band enters Jordan-Hare. Nothing gets me fired up more for the game than seeing the band stretch halfway around then field, the drums keeping everyone in step, and the alternating WAR EAGLE and GLORY GLORY TO OL' AUBURN.
Gosh, I am ready for some football. T-minus 41 days.
I should say "at" my seat. Of course, there's no way I could be sitting when the band enters the stadium.
ReplyDeleteI have a real good feeling about Tate and the offensive line. I expect Eric Smith to contribute more than most think too. We could end up seeing a lot of triple option this season, similar to Paul Johnson's offense at GT. It is why I think Kodi is still in the QB race. We have very good potential on the line, some speedy h-backs, and a couple of powerful tailbacks.
ReplyDelete"I'm trying to get more un-stupid." -CTF (yes, this man coached our football team last year, has a license to drive a vehicle and a right to vote)
ReplyDeletePMarsh has an interesting take on how the SEC has taken over college football. It is interesting to think about. For a while everyone was putting USC as #1 in preseason polls. Since the SEC has basically dominated the BCSNCG every time we have had a team in it, I think the media opinion has changed.
ReplyDeleteYea, I loved the un-stupid comment. That game provided the first big indication of trouble.
ReplyDeletesalsa...
ReplyDeleteTimes Saban's name is mentioned in UAT thread - 25/171. We are a cultured group and discuss a variety of topics. I wouldn't expect the typical UAT blogger to understand as y'all seem to discuss nothing but Auburn.
ehyou, you forget to mention the value of occasionally typing 36-0 for no apparent reason.
ReplyDeletetrue that, steve. USC has definitely lost a bit of its luster. I would love for an SEC team to take the Trojans on head to head in a BCSNCG. The man in the black pajamas, dude, worthy frickin' adversary.
ReplyDeleteOklahoma looked awesome last season, until they got a chance to play the SEC champs.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, our offense may resemble Oklahoma's in a lot of ways.
ReplyDeletethen i read that tenn is tossing around the possibility of black uniforms... with orange trim..
ReplyDeletewhere do they get black from orange and white? Are they just plain tennesee?
UT should reconsider. UGA wore black to their funeral against Bama last season.
ReplyDeleteThe Auburn band seemingly played Santana for about 2 straight years a few years back.
ReplyDeleteDL, the new uni's would make sense as UT tries to usher in a new era. I wish we would mix it up sometimes. It gets the players all kinds of fired up. But not too often, then we'd look desperate and gimmicky like CMR and the Puppydawgs.
ReplyDeleteWe should never, ever...and I mean ever change our uniforms.
ReplyDeleteDid I say never?
Steve, you are right about UGA getting waxed in black. That's my point about not allowing it to become a regular occurrence. The first time they "blacked out", they beat us by several TD's.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people don't remember in that first blackout game we lead 20-17 midway through the 3rd quarter and held Moreno to almost nothing...so I give no credit to the black jerseys for that win because we were matching them step for step.
ReplyDeleteIt was only after Brandon Cox started turning the ball over and UGA exposed the DB's for never looking back to the ball that it ended up 45-20.
That had nothing at all to do with the black jerseys.
fair enough, RK, good point. Didn't Brandon throw 6 INT's in his last two games against the puppydawgs? Not sure if that's as amazing as John Vaughn missing 5 field goals in one game against the LSWho.
ReplyDeleteI think he threw 4 in 2006 and 3 in 2007.
ReplyDeleteI think our white unis are some of the best in the NCAA...
ReplyDeleteI do not care about tenn uniforms but they are orange and white..... I guess they chose black because its cool or Lane Kiffen is pretending he is still at Oakland....
Man, I cannot wait until college football. It doesn't matter who is playing. I just want to see some games. Heck, if I could have knocked about 10 seconds off my 40 time, I could have been Bo before Bo was Bo.
ReplyDeleteAs to band ... I've always loved listening to marching bands. I knew zero about it until six years when ElTurbo went that direction in school. What an incredible experience for him. I admire band kids dedication and discipline.
ReplyDeleteHe's done with band now, choosing not to try out at Auburn, but the Stewardess has three more years.
As for uniform changes, I think I've made myself perfectly clear that I will burn down something more significantly larger than "The Barn" if the uniform is altered, or an alternate version is produced.
Have a nice day.
RK ...
ReplyDeleteI remember quite well as I drove home from Athens ... by myself.
From what I understand Auburn has already made offers to two QBs for the 2011 signing class. Are we QBU by any chance?
ReplyDeleteSteve, if it's quantity not quality then I say yes!
ReplyDeleteJet - let me know if you need someone to carry the lighter fluid for you.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteTHT/Jet......I've got the matches ready.
ReplyDeleteNever....ever change the unis.
I have a poll question for you all.
ReplyDeleteShould marijuana be legalized in the U.S.A.?
Yes or No.
Discuss.
Sorry salsa....this ain't a political blog. You don't get it do you.
ReplyDeleteWe are a cultured group and discuss a variety of topics. I wouldn't expect the typical UAT blogger to understand as y'all seem to discuss nothing but Auburn.
ReplyDeleteJust tested the above proposition.
EPIC FAIL
Anyone see the article on AL.com where the players that went to media days were asked to vote for the coach they would like to play for?
ReplyDeleteTwo got no vote due to the players were not familiar with them.
ReplyDeleteTwo got no votes because the players did not want to play for them.
I see where L Owens delayed his decision until later in the year.
ReplyDeletesalsa's understanding of the word proposition = epic fail
ReplyDeleteMaybe he would know the definition of epic failure
ReplyDeleteWhen is your nest officially empty, WTC?
ReplyDeleteTuesday. I spent about 6 hours in AU Saturday getting her set up in the apt. and I move the big furniture Tuesday. she says she will stay there until Saturday before she comes home. (She will probably be home before that though)
ReplyDeleteWTC,
ReplyDeleteI know it sounds silly, but I miss those days of moving the kids in and helping them get their places ready. My son is a senior and doesn't need (or want) my help anymore. He does humor me though and let's me think he needs me.
WTC if you need empty nest counseling you know who to call. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter says she needs me but is ready to stand on her own. We had a nice visit this afternoon, sitting on the back porch, in the swing, discussing the challenges she will face. It was a great afternoon. I hope there are more to come as she comes home to visit, which will probably be more than she is letting on now.
ReplyDeleteWTC,
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much smarter I am than I was 3 or 4 years ago. Someone gave me some great advice when Tyler left home. She said, "Don't give advice unless he asks for it." It almost killed me, but I followed her advice. Now, he seeks me out and purposely asks for my advice. Very different from my daughter - she always wanted my advice!
Monica - No you may not call Salsa a bammer. Let's hear him out, maybe he is an AU fan after all.
ReplyDeleteYes, Thigh Master.
ReplyDeleteEmpty nesters... it was great while it lasted.
ReplyDeleteJan Terri-He may just like stirring the pot. That is OK with me, but everything is his opinion. And you know what those are like. We all have one and they all stink.
ReplyDeleteTruth is no one has played a down and if we went on media articles, we could just play paper rock scissors to get a champion and move on. It would certainly save me some money for tickets.
THT,
ReplyDeleteSounds like yours came back? Hasn't happened here yet, but never say never.
Cincy ...
ReplyDeleteThat advice is priceless.
Cincy-that advice is excellent. Hopefully we be able heed that advice.
ReplyDeleteAvocado Albacore is merely a gnat on the backside of the HABOTN. Let him buzz around. Swat him only when necessary.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone think it significant that Chizik changed agents from Jimmy Sexton to someone else whom I can't remember his name?
ReplyDeleteafter a few wins, several people will shut their pie holes. as long as no one has played, let them talk.
ReplyDeleteblah. blah. blah, blah.
good move on his part. Too much power with one guy is a problem. i always thought he played the coaches against the schools, but obviously with their permission. So he isn't the only one to throw the evil eye toward. With that said, he was doing his job which is why they pay him.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm kind of late in the band talk, but one of the things I love to do is go into the stadium right after Tiger Walk. Our seats are at the top of section 15 and from there we can watch the band as they converge from four points of the campus to meet at the corner by the stadium. Very awesome if you haven't seen this. Come up to section 15 and watch it with us!
ReplyDeleteGotta go. Next Food network star is on.
ReplyDeleteWe are a cultured group and discuss a variety of topics. (excellent)
Cincy ...
ReplyDeleteNew agent is Russ Campbell.
It's significant because he's losing business all over the place. Sexton's business, ARM, has been owned by Morgan Keegan -- the brokerage arm of Regions Bank.
Unfortunately, Morgan Keegan is under investigation by the SEC (and I'm not talking about Mike Slive's outfit) and several state securities regulators.
Several of Sexton's clients may have lost their shirts in Morgan Keegan investments.
Sounds like he made a good decision.
ReplyDeleteBeing insulted by Monica must mean I have fully arrived on here.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
By the way, the Goodwin kid looks like an upgrade at WR. I understand the lure of immediate playing time. It's how Saban rebuilt Alabama so fast.
Now, coaching on the field is something else altogether.
I had heard that dropping Sexton was a condition of the Auburn offer. He dropped him about the time he was hired. Or rather, he disappeared from Sexton's client page around that time.
ReplyDeleteHey Cincy, Eddie, Mon this is going to be a big recruiting week. Just think you guys need to get a little more fired up. You too Steve. 39 and counin'!!!
ReplyDeleteno offense, BigEZ, but I'm not buying any more recruiting hype. I'll wait to get fired up once something actually happens. I'm not doubting that it can happen, I'm just tired of the empty promises of when it will happen. Goodwin was a great pickup, but I'm greedy, I want to nothing but 4* and 5* from here on out. I hope you're right about this week.
ReplyDeleteTHT, this isn't hype buddy. This is happenin' brotha. AUsome...
ReplyDeleteSexton's multiple clients provide knowledge that creates power for him. Tubs needed Sexton to keep the PTB at bay. It is an amiable move of good faith for CGC to get away from Sexton. Of course if the PTB still have enough power and, as usual, get impatient before the majority of the fans, CGC may regret the agent change. Hopefully that regret never happens.
ReplyDeleteHey...we got 2 OL in the past week or so. There aren't many 4-5 star OT left that would be realistic for AU.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting we get at least one 4-5 star RB. Of course we already have several of those on campus. Tate, Aycock, McCalebb and Fannin were all 4 stars.
EZ,
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to be excited. Give me something to be excited about! But, I'm kind of like THT, a little gun shy. But I can get excited if you show me just a little.
Salsa...I really can't stand Bama arrogance and it is not welcome in my life......so as far as I'm concerned you haven't arrived.
ReplyDeleteEZ,
ReplyDeleteDo you think we can get excited as early as Monday? I would love to start the week off with big news.
I don't know if it was good faith by Chiz, Chiz deciding Sexton's star as about to fall, or Sexton dropped him since he was left out of the negotiations.
ReplyDeleteI shall not attempt to reason why, but for now, it's a positive for Auburn.
Hoop. The thing about bammers is this. You could shove their brains up a gnats rear end, and it would look like a BB rolling around in a box car. War damn eagle.
ReplyDeleteCincy, I know, If my blah blah is correct but I have to say it. I was 100% on the Goodwin thing the other day and 95 on this one. It should be good monday, great on thursday and friday.
ReplyDeleteEZ...if you're right, this should set us up well to head into fall camp.
ReplyDeleteRecruitin's 'bout over....time for FOOTBALL!
I wouldn't say anything if I didn't believe it was true. Not tryin to gain street cred, just like the anticipation and knowin a little bit of secret info, I know it's goofy but hey. Like you said, it's not football season yet. I'll take what I can.
ReplyDeleteEZ ...
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing Friday may be off for now.
Night, Hotties. Gotta go rest up for our exciting week! Sleep well and dream of stars :)
ReplyDeleteRegarding Sexton. He is a cancer in the coaching industry. It's like having a union. You need your coach committed to your school, not out looking for whatever job comes open and every extra dollar he can milk out of the university. enough is enough.
ReplyDeleteHey EZ - I'm fired up and I think you're great! You got Mon cred to spare.
ReplyDeletesalsa - Well bless your heart, honey. If I had known all you wanted was a little attention from me I would have obliged long ago. I'm sorry if you've felt ignored.
ReplyDeleteWow. Just wow.
ReplyDeleteLiked that video Mon. I am ready to suitem up.
ReplyDeleteWill have trouble getting the socks to fit over the calves, and the jersey may need to be let out around the lats and taken in at the waist.
ReplyDeleteWTC - You should read your email soon and respond.
ReplyDeletedone
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for the season to start. most questions about au and bama will be answered by the fourth game, or at least we will have a pretty good idea. we will see what kind of coaches we really have. If Malzan can make a qb out of one of our guys, I'll be on his bandwagon for good. we have to make hay early, cause depth will catch us in the end. nite everyone
ReplyDeleteLove Coach Dye's speech in the video ... "it don't matter" as he pats Quentin Riggins (Happy Quentin Riggins Day!) on the shoulder.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of Coach Dye's best. It's not the one from the Tennessee game in 1981, but it's a good one.
Nite, sponge
ReplyDeleteThanks Mon Diesel you know I love you baby.
ReplyDeleteGuess what? It's Monday here!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY TONY RICHARDSON DAY!!!
T-minus 40 days til kickoff.
from Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
fullback: noun; Tony Richardson.
This native of Germany and former Auburn star has had a long and distinguished NFL career. He was drafted by the Cowboys and has starred with the Chiefs, Vikings, and most recently the Jets. Just this past February he signed up for another year with the Jets; it will be his 16th NFL season. Mr. Richardson is a 2-time All-Pro and 4-time Pro Bowl participant. At Auburn, he was part of the 1993 unbeaten team.
HAPPY TONY RICHARDSON DAY!!!
WARRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
p.s. I violated parole and will be back in prison today, then a meeting tonight. It will be a HABOTN-deprived day...I hope I can survive.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, don't ask one question and then when someone says, "hey no politics", decide that one subject nullifies any conversation outside of Auburn football.
ReplyDeleteIf you were half as clever as you pretend to be I wouldn't have to explain these basic concepts to you.
Re: Depth on AU's Band...I feel like were set in the brass section for a while, our first group on the drumline is solid but after that it gets shaky. We're running skeleton crew on the woodwinds, I say it's high time we scour the JUCO ranks for some bodies.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tony Richardson day to you too THT, I'm going to bed, I just wanted to get a Sunday's worth of posts in before doing so. I'll be up bright and early to discuss all things HABOTN.
ReplyDeleteGood Night Folks.
40 days!
ReplyDeleteI think I can wait he 156 days before my wedding, but the next 40 should be pretty tough! WDE!
salsa must think we are really skeered of kiffin (300+ comments).
ReplyDeleteHe's been here way too much. poor bammie is desperate for attention, even when it comes as humiliation.
In response to the poll nobody recognized
ReplyDeleteReefer: legalize it. Give a boost
Morning Hotties. Off to watch the 2nd quarter of AU-UA, 2005. Can't remember how many sacks in this quarter?
ReplyDeleteWhat day is it??? OH, freaking Monday. Oh well, here's to another week on HABOTN! I see we have stains on this blog, but that's ok, nothing that can't be washed out.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Blog Reader Hotties and Happy Monday. I'm sitting at beautiful Gate A21 at ATL waiting to board for LAX. The last time I did this, I got to meet Dr. J since we shared the same flight. I wonder who'll be fortunate enough to meet me today.
ReplyDeleteWe're almost there...football is nigh upon us.
Keep Hate Alive.
I hate USC.
ReplyDeletethe end
Happy Tony Richardson Day! I hope we can call it Kenneth Carter Day, too!
ReplyDeletehappy T.Richardson Day hotties!
ReplyDeleteenjoy prison today THT.
Jhag, i hope you made it back from Vegas in one piece. ;)
i put in the dvd of the 2007 Iron Bowl yesterday when i was working on a painting. it was nice. :)
ReplyDeleteWatched MonD's link to that pump-you-up AU vid....thanks Mon.
ReplyDeleteAlso noticed a vid that points out that Bama only has 4 NCs instead of the claimed 12 MNCs.
May the hate be with you....
What a great Tony Richardson day it is!!
ReplyDeleteBummer! Only 3 sacks in the 2nd quarter of the 2005 Iron Bowl. But, I enjoyed everyone of them!
ReplyDeleteWhat up Hot Ones?
ReplyDeleteThe 2005 Iron Bowl was a thing of beauty.
ReplyDeleteHowever I do mark the point midway into the 2nd quarter when up 21-0 in Alabama territory that Prechae Rodriguez fumbles on a reverse that killed all of our momentum for the game, otherwise it could have been a very very ugly score.
Seriously Auburn's offense hasn't been the same since that fumble. We didn't show up in the bowl game vs Wisconsin and continued to slip despite good records the next two years.
It's all Prechae's fault.
2005...
ReplyDeleteYou all forget that Alabama won the last 3 quarters of that game, just like Brodie said.
As for the slide of the Auburn offense, I've never seen one to be impressed with. That "great" 2004 squad barely mustered anything against a probation laden/badly coached Alabama team in the rain.
Last time I checked they take into account all 4 quarters of a game. Winning 3 gets you nothing if you get blown out in 1.
ReplyDeletemy goodness. that's a heckuva burden to throw on 'ol Prechae. i can't disagree on how lethargic we've been since, though. of course Kenny Irons wasn't the same after the K-State game in 2006. he gimped around all season.
ReplyDeletePrechae is all the way up in Canada, he'll never know that he's to blame.
ReplyDeleteScottie,
I think you meant Washington State, not K State.
We were first half national champs last year as I recall. Maybe they should record that kind of performance. Tubs would still have a job!
ReplyDeleteSalsa, say what you want about the 2004 Auburn team, but that was the last team from the SEC to run the table.
ReplyDeleteAs far as 2005 goes, we obviously were not watching the same game. But then again using your logic, Bammer probably won the last 3 quarters against Utah too.
Got 12? Didn't think so...
ReplyDeleteI freakin' hate you bama.
That's true. We were the halftime champions last year.
ReplyDeleteBammer also lost the second half against UGA last year and lost the first half against Tulane.
ReplyDeleteDoes he not see how ridiculous his posts are?
2004 Auburn team ran the table and it was empty on the other end.
ReplyDeleteNothing to show for it.
Sorry. I find that a bit hollow.
It was a Preachae/Tuberville combo ... Tommy shut it down after Preache fumbled. I was sitting by myself -- we had 3 tickets (2 in the east deck, one in the west) -- begging our guys to run it up and leave no doubt.
ReplyDeleteInteresting quote from Chris Todd on PMarsh's site this a.m.
ReplyDeleteTo summarize, he understands he needs to make a big impression in a hurry, or be prepared to be affixed to the bench.
I bet if you took your knuckles and knocked on the side of your head you'd find it hollow.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we have a nice, shiny Sugar Bowl trophy to show for it. You've got even less after your 12-0 regular season.
So what was last year for your team Salsa? 12-0 and then fold like a lawn chair. Is there a word to describe that. Less than nothing to show for it.
ReplyDeleteHey, the end of last year was very disappointing. However, unlike Auburn in 2004, all of the real talent on the team either came back this year (with good experience) or came in as a part of another monster recruiting class.
ReplyDeleteLast year seems to be a coaching problem more than anything else for UAT. Or is a fan problem. not sure who t oblame for the last two losses.
ReplyDeleteHowever, you beat FL for 3 1/2 quarters, so that counts for something. And you beat Utah for 2quarters. How about we give you two moral vistories. UAT won a lot of those in Shula's years.
Oh salsa,
ReplyDeleteBama math and logic, too early for that this morning,
In that case, early morning Bama joke,
How many Bama fans does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Answer: Two
One to screw it in and one to say how much better Bear would have done it.
:),
Anyway slow news week, DL from Greenville is supposed to annouce today. His teammate we signed last year, Pilson, who is going the juco route. So we will see what happens.
Or got sent packing by ht ecoach to make room for more players that will not play.
ReplyDeleteLosing to Florida was one thing. Great team, great players on both sides of the ball. I can live with that.
ReplyDeleteThe Sugar Bowl I blame on a lack of seasoned leaders on the team. Shula's guys were just too disappointed to not be in the BCSCG that they cared little about playing Utah in the Sugar Bowl. That bugs me to no end, but I firmly believe those people are gone now and it won't happen again. Saban won't allow it.
Blame it on whomever you want, you got schooled. Auburn in 2004 had bigger reason to not want to play, we showed up and won.
ReplyDeleteSaban can only do one during a game and that's talk to people. If the Jimmys and Joes from the other team score more points than the Jimmy and Joes on yours, you lose. Whether or not Saban "allows that" is irrelevant.
You sound like the intern writer for BOL and Scout that comes on Longshore and McKnight show. all UAT all the time and no one should really suit up because you are gonna win just because who you are. Well good luck with that logic.
ReplyDeleteSalsa- You spew crap all over the place. I'm glad Andre Smith sucked last year and you've got somebody better than him since you did so well without him last year.
ReplyDeleteAs far as your Sugar Bowl Loss, that's all Saban's fault. Deal with it or listen to Saban and fall on the sword like he told you to. Good grief. Go back to tidesports.com where you are hated by your brethern instead of just us Aubies.
No, still got to play them on the field. However, Alabama and Saban are a juggernaut and own the West. No denying that.
ReplyDeleteConference championships and national championships THIS DECADE for UAT?
ReplyDeleteAnyone? Anyone?
Juggernaut? they have one the west one out of two years. Florida is the definition of a juggernaut. Two National titles in three years. Bama is good, but only a contender at this point. Go back to the dictionary.
ReplyDeleteWhat will happen if Satan doesn't win the West this year? Other than it being the fans fault? I will be surprised if bama wins the West this year, I just don't see it.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this is in terms the Cousin Humpers can understand ...
ReplyDeleteWhat they did last year doesn't equal ownership.
It equals something more like last month's lot rent for the doublewide.
East - The favorite is Florida, you wonder can they win it all again? The Heisman, the East, the SEC and the national championship. Its a HUGE burden. But they have the talent. If they make to the SEC championship I think they jave the best shot. But in the SEC you never really know. Highly predicted teams usually take a beating.
ReplyDeleteWest- I think it will be the wild west this year with the teams beating up on each other. I have no clue. All of the teams have some semblance of talent so we will see.
You have to have consecutive years of bringing home hardware to be a considered a juggernaut or at least in a cluster, much like UF or LSU. You have not yet established yourselves as number one in the West. Try again.
ReplyDelete0 Sec Titles, 0 NCs, 0 BCS Bowl wins this decade. No denying that.
when does real practice start?
ReplyDeleteWeek from Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteSoon, Monica, very soon. I want to say...End of next week. 8/5 or 8/6 I want to say.
ReplyDeleteAuburn fans arguing numbers are funny to me.
ReplyDeleteAlso, in my opinion, Salsa has behaved himself fine here.
ReplyDeleteBama fans defecating via written word on Auburn blogs is funny to me.
ReplyDeleteThough I'm watching you closely, Salsa.
ReplyDeleteI suppose if by own, you mean play in the west, your comment might make a little bit of sense.
ReplyDeleteWill you be at that practice, Jay G.?
ReplyDeleteAs the HABOTN doesn't have neighborhood association rules regarding cars on blocks in the front yard and Christmas lights still attached to the porch, no, Salsa has not violated any covenants.
ReplyDeleteYou can't legislate against goofy.
I thought I read where all practices are going to be closed. Is this true, Jay?
ReplyDeleteUndercover asks the question of which QB will be the starter. The conclusion seems to be that Kodi and Caudle are tied, but they better look out for Todd. They don't give Rollison and Moseley much of a shot. To sum it up, they don't know.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that if it's Todd I'll have to saw on my wrist with a butter knife.
ReplyDeleteJet, you're right about Friday. Who knows why but if Thurs. holds up, we'll be alright.
ReplyDeleteOmnica, happy sawing.
ReplyDeleteIt also happens to mention that Todd had one of the strongest throwing arms in the nation coming out of highschool and that he is saying it is nearly fully healed. Todzilla is coming. Fear Todzilla.
ReplyDeleteI don't think any of QBs elicit fear at this point.
ReplyDeleteExcept Rollison. Right, Eddie?
I disagree. I am scared of every QB we have returning. The only thing scarier than that is the freshmen starting.
ReplyDeleteHey Salsa, I wouldn't normally bite, but I believe Auburn did win the SEC title in 04. They beat Tennessee, and then they beat VaTech or did I dream this? It may not be a national championship but I will forever love and be proud of that team and theres nothing you can do about it. You're wrong. We do have something to show for it. That's all.
ReplyDeleteWow The Big EZ here in the morning again! What a nice treat.
ReplyDeleteMonica,
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about the sawing, but that's if Burns is the QB.
I just don't see him ever developing into a decent QB.
WERK, Who would allow you to put away the butter knife?
ReplyDeleteI'm not allowed around sharp instruments, it's part of my rehab program after the horrible machette accident of 2008.
ReplyDeleteha I'm not letting you off that easily! Who is your pick for QB? C'mon. You know I respect your football opinion. Don't let me down.
ReplyDeleteThe real question mark for me at QB is Caudle. I just haven't seen enough of him to know how good he could be. From the playing time he has received, I assume Borges and Franklin weren't high on him.
ReplyDeleteBurns has just not worked out. Once he became the starter last season, our season was pretty much over.
As for Todd, he showed good decision making and I am amazed he was able to do as much as he did while injured. My fear with him is that he will start off great, but the arm injuries will return.
As for the freshman, if we start a freshman from the beginning, I would count this as a rebuilding year.
I don't think we have an answer at QB, but I feel least comfortable with Kodi since I've seen him play enough to know that I don't see it happening.
ReplyDeleteGus won't be patient enough to deal with his ever changing mechanics and his not looking beyond the 1st option before he runs.
Unless Kodi has made a lot of changes and progress, I just don't think he's an SEC level QB.
Omnica, you think Kodi should be the starter?
ReplyDeleteSteve - You don't already count this as a rebuilding year????????
ReplyDeleteMon,
ReplyDeleteSadly out of the group we have, until I can see Tyrik play, I'll have to go with a healthy Chris Todd.
From what I've seen of Caudle, he is prone to throwing the ball to the other team as much as he is our own.
Todd if he has the arm, Caudle otherwise. If it's Burns I'm going to need to start each game 3 beers in.
ReplyDeleteI know you didn't ask, Monica, but I decided to throw my .02 in there, I knew you wouldn't mind.
ReplyDeleteWERK, I wish I had seen more of Caudle. He is the most likely to be a surprise in my option. Todd, to me, is the most likely to become a solid SEC QB, but I don't see him as becoming great. Caudle, supposedly, has a lot of running ability too, although with his knee surgeries, it is hard to know how long that would last.
ReplyDeleteI suffer from The Grass is Always Green on the Other Side Syndrome. I'm the fan the writer was talking about when he said "The favorite player is always the back up."
ReplyDeleteAll of that means I didn't see anything or anyone last year that inspired confidence, so I'm fantasizing that there is some hidden talent that has yet to hit the field.
I do wish that Kodi could be the guy because I can see him giving opponents fits running the triple option, but unless we have a QB that is able to offer some kind of threat as a passer, we will have trouble.
ReplyDeleteHey, mornin there MonD. Usually when I am up early, I'm going to work. There's just so much more to talk about with the season so close. I am looking forward to my first football season with the HABOTN!!
ReplyDeleteBetween all of them, I'm not yet sure if we have an average SEC QB. Hopefully a couple of them have made big strides with the new coaching staff, because the previous staff did a horrible job of developing them.
ReplyDeleteYou guys may think I'm crazy, but I put so much blame on the old coaching staff. For once we have a real offensive coaching staff. Proven o coaching staff. I'm not saying that itll work but every qback that we have can't be that bad. It can't be. We just need some production, just like Wilson last year for Bama. I believe that Gus can accentuate our strengths and hide the weaknesses. That's what good teams do.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you BEZ. It'll be interesting to see if Malzahn can work that same magic on our supposedly more talented QBs than the journeyman type guys he had at Tulsa.
ReplyDeleteBy the way...does anyone notice that intoxicating scent?
ReplyDeletesniff. sniff.
ReplyDeleteAlabama was able to hide the issues with JPW by having one of the best, if not the best, running game I have seen in the SEC this decade. Yes, I remember 2004, and no, I don't think Coffee is better than Caddy or Ronnie, but their offense ran the ball about 2/3 of the time. It was very impressive. Nobody else in the SEC has come close to running the ball that much, at least not last season.
ReplyDeleteExcusing the smell Sean, I think I stepped in some Salsa.
