  5. Jay,
Reading your article on Chris Todd makes my orange colored glasses a little shinier.

    ReplyDelete
  6. They're pretty enthusiastic about Todd and his situation.

    ReplyDelete
  7. excellent article, as always Writer Tate. However, I will remain scared to death that his rebuilt shoulder will not remain intact for an entire season. I certainly hope it does.

Cincy - we added the post office on our list of errands.

We're out of here for a while.

    WAR EAGLE!!!

  8. Biggest regret of my life so far, not transfering to St Thomas Aquinas for my senior year

    ReplyDelete
  9. Luv, see my post on the last thread re: wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Why didn't you, hag?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Nice articles Mr. Tate.

My daughter's soccer team had it's first practice today. Some of the parents looked at me funny when I had the kids yelling "NO DROPS!" They will learn.

  12. Jay,
Enjoyed your "box" article on Auburn's season. You seem very objective, which is what a reporter should be. I agree with your observations, however I am going out on a limb and predicting an 8-4 season, while wishing for a 12-0. The world is looking great through my glasses!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Jay did it to me again, started a new thread while I was posting in the old thread, so from previous:

Luv, my husband is a fan of the "evil-side". I call him a "fair weather" fan because he just recently regained interest, like some other family members. He does not buy season tickets, so he babysits the grandkids and watches from home. Both of my girls are Auburn fans. The grandkids are Auburn fans; however, if they don't go to Auburn with their mom and dad, they stay home with Pops. If they are home with Pops, he dresses them in Alabama gear for the day, and they watch the game with him. It's the only Alabama gear they have. All the other time they wear Auburn.

  14. Off to wash some vehicles. Have a great Saturday.

JGT...The "Preview in-a-Box" is superb. It is concise and on point without a lot of conjecture.

Once again your written substance stands on it's on without the need to resort to sensationalistic comments in order to get the point across or gain attention.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hoopie- I'm more positive than I was, but I can assure you i'm still very skeptical about the defense. By the way, I had this information about them thinking they were going to be good before the Caudle announcement, just that even cemented what I heard. Jet- I'm fairly sure that Tyrik will not play this season, if we was, he would be #2. I know nothing official has been announced yet, but I think they are redshirting him and pretty much getting him ready for next season start Spring Ball. That is an opinion there, no info to back that up.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Preview-in-a-box is better than Justin Timberlake's idea for in-a-box.

This time next week, I'll be in Auburn!!!!!! Can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anonymous12:25 PM

Kathy..keep those grandkids away from the dark side.

May the Hate be with you.

    ReplyDelete
  20. JG, nice story on Todd. I'm still skeptical. I'm sure everybody is until we see it live next week.

    ReplyDelete
  21. There is a teeny tiny chance I'll get to meet Tom Brady next January. If I do I'll be more obnoxious than I normally am I so I suppose y'all should hope it doesn't happen.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Perhaps Mr. Brady should hope that doesn't happen.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If he knew me I'm sure he'd be making sure it didn't happen.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Monica,
If he knew you, he'd be making sure it DID happen! Come on now!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. awww Cincy, Thanks :-)
Only the really nice people lie to you when you need it the most.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous12:40 PM

Eddie..last week you were starting to move from skeptical (a reasonable preseason attitude) to despair(unhealthy). Last night it seemed that you had all of a sudden bailed out the water..got the engine started... and were gunning it into the tunnel...note: that comment was exaggerated for effect.

That tunnel will require luck, skill and....luck to negotiate successfully.

I agree that if TR is not ready to be #2 and get some quality reps, then save him for 4 full seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous12:44 PM

Mon...will Greg be there when you meet Mr. Brady?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Greg said he makes me carry a picture of him around my neck, but he appreciates you having his back, Hoopie.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous12:50 PM

Mrs. Hoopie has a huge crush on Kirk Herbstreit...I mean...I can be watching Gameday and she'll stop, sit and watch if he is on the screen.

She got his autograph at the 2004 SECCG and was visibly affected.

I went on a diet, starting working out, died my hair blonde and starting wearing bright blue-colored contacts after that event.haha.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Because I'm at a school that is a basketball power house and I have a father like relationship with my head coach, So I couln't leave him...originally he was going to take a college job then I was going to transfer to STA I already met the coach and everything...but my bball coach at my high school stayed and I couldn't bail on him, because my bball team this year has a good chacne of winning states

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous12:52 PM

Fom all accounts...Greg is a good guy...jus' sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous12:54 PM

    hag....how about your current teammates?

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1. Eddie ... i won't rule it out yet on Tyrik.

    2. Tom Brady adding another supermodel to his collection.

    3. Mother of Jet -- we'll call her Mrs. Orville Wright -- met JFK in 1960. It may trump the Herbie meet.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I share Mrs. THT's deep appreciation for Kirk. She has excellent taste.

    Greg is 100% top shelf.

    Jet - You're good.

    ReplyDelete
  35. sheesh I meant Mrs. Hoopie's!

I do so enjoy looking at Herbie.

    ReplyDelete
  36. If your a guy and your wife told you that you were 100% bottom shelf, is that terrible? I would think being in cabinet hidden would be the worse.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I spent 3 years in a caved-in tool shed when we lived in Wetumpka.

    ReplyDelete
  38. so Hoopie, will you be wearing your Kirk Herbstreit costume to the AU-UM game on Halloween? if so, i want a photo-op!

JG mentioned it earlier but the HABOTN ladies have been really bringing the heat lately. very impressive : Cincy, Luv, Cathy, Monnie, Kristina, shesaid and now 2.0. keep it up! apologies if i left anyone out.

    ReplyDelete
  39. speaking of ESPN, um...talent, whatcha think about this?

Erin Andrews - most overrated female tv gal ever.

Wendy Nix - very underrated female tv personality.

    just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  40. My daughter and SIL went to gameday last time it was in Auburn. One of their signs said "Herbstreit Glows Orange" because of the awful makeup they have on him some days. He absolutely looks like a pumpkin sometimes (color wise, not look wise, looks are very pleasing)

    ReplyDelete
  41. ok, enough of that nonsense. i'm off to cut the grass.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If I was going to subscribe to one of the pay sites, which one do y'all suggest? I want one that covers more than just recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think Scottie's angling for a trip to the Champagne Room.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cincy- I'm a member of both Rivals and Auburnundercover. They are very different in my opinion. Rivals produces more story and is much more centered around recruiting but does a great job with it's normal coverage of the team. If you liked PMarsh and his tracking the tigers blog of previous, you would like AuburnUndercover. With all that said, I prefer Rivals.

I haven't tried the Scout site, but i'm sure it's good.

    ReplyDelete
  45. JZ- As much jack as Scottie lays down, I think they renamed the room after him.

    ReplyDelete
  46. awww thank you, Scottie

    I like Rivals, Cincy.

Eddie - Can't imagine you'd ever hear bottom shelf from your wife.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Mon- Nah, just cheap stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ignore the haters, Scottie. You know you're the mackest HABOTN gangsta around. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just remember what Chris Rock says about the Champagne Room, Scottie.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That's right Mon. He even has the neon wristband to prove it still on from last night :)!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Scottie's a hellova lot better looking than Chris Rock, too...

    ReplyDelete
  52. This link is so bad it's funny.

The Lane Kiffen Show with Nick Saban

PS- There is some bad language.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Where'd everyone go?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Pat Sullivan NUFF SAID.

Jay both post really good and the prediction a litle conservative but unfortunately probably accurate.

Hope Todd makes it through the whole season without shoulder problems

    ReplyDelete
  55. i go off to do a little yard work and i come back to being the Chris Rock of the HABOTN (not that there's anything wrong with that).

yall are nuts. at this point i barely remember what a champagne room looks like. and you can quote me on that. ;) i appreciate the love, though. ha.

    ok, back to work.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Happy Pat Sullivan day.

I was hoping that they would put TR in #7. By the way, three of Auburn's 09 recruiting class wore #7 in high school. I am full of useless information like that.

Can someone have a nice cold milo's tea for me? Danke'.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jay, great point on Jant Terri not needing to see Goblins to make Get Down Goblin. That's changed my whole perspective.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Pat Sullivan was not the MVP of the 1971 Sugar Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  59. There was no other choice. Number 7 is the man, an Auburn man, and one of the players that made me an Auburn fan.

It is nice to see Todzilla's revenge. Refer to him as the noodle all you want, but the kid has heart and he is back bigger and badder than ever. The noodle will strike fear in the hearts of opponents this season.

    ReplyDelete
  60. If Toddzilla comes through for Auburn this season, Steve will go down in history as being the man to say it was going to happen. He will be remembered alongside Babe Ruth and his famous home-run prediction.

I still have my doubts, but I admire Steve for his faith in Todd.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Brother Jet - Sorry to take so long to respond to your post about Sully and LSU; been working all day and just now got back by the computer.

And you are right, when Pat looks back on his life, I think he's gotta feel like the biggest mistake of his career was not doing whatever it took to pay off TCU and the lousy $100k that they used to keep him there. Forcing somebody that wants to leave to stay and honor a contract is always a disaster for both sides, and this was a great example. After it happened, he lost a lot of his support at TCU and things just went downhill from there.

If only he had been patient and not applied at LSU, kept winning at TCU, he could have come back to AU and might still be our coach.

Guess it just wasn't meant to be, but it was something I always wanted to see happen. I was very disappointed when they hired Tubs instead of Pat.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Stevo

I ventured into your blog that day. Hope things get better for you.

    WDE.

I am scared of noodles, and some other Chinese food. It just doesn't like me.

    ReplyDelete
  63. yep, The Truth Hurts, I was at the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1972, and Pat Sullivan was certainly not the MVP. That game was just miserable. OU, behind MVP QB Jack Mildren wishboned us to death.

The Jan 2, 1971 Gator Bowl was a much more entertaining and enjoyable game.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Boy, Chelsea look bloody good today men........and Man U fans.

    ReplyDelete
  65. THT ...

    OU that day ...

    87 rushes for 439 yards.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ladies, in reference to your earlier conversation, let it be known that all MrsTHT can talk about when Game Day is on is Chris Fowler. I have no idea why.

    ReplyDelete
  67. three AU turnovers all leading to scores, plus a very long OU punt return for TD, all in the first half, led to the very high misery quotient.

    ReplyDelete
  68. dang. I hope we are still invited to St. Thomas Auqitas' campus.

52-7 today over a OH team in their horse shoe

  70. Michael - you can imagine my disappointment today when I was unable to find a Jan Terri CD in the Chapel Hill Public Library book, etc sale. I thought for sure I'd find it in the same stack that had the William Hung "Inspiration" CD.

    ReplyDelete
  71. THT - believe me, I have looked online before, and I have never been able to come across a Jan Terri album for sale.

I just checked ebay, and there is a single Jan Terri album on sale. Price: $500!!!!! I'll bet someone somewhere will pay that much for it.

    ReplyDelete
  72. well, I regret you can't expect it under the Christmas tree from me, Michael.

    ReplyDelete
  73. wow! you aren't kidding, Michael... $500...wow!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I wish I could listen to "Fax my love" just one time before I die.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Not really. But the concept is amazing.. 'fax my love'.

Man I'm bored. Maybe I should just ask the resident blogger if he's turning into an Auburn fan.

On second thought I should just hit the gym.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I had much better luck. I found a 45 rpm from 1978 on eBay earlier this year for $4. Cost me maybe another $10 to turn it into a digital file.
You'll Love Again by the B'ham based group Hotel.
Songwriter, vocalist, keyboardist, and Jasper native is Marc Phillips (that's the bhamwiki page)

  77. Aero,
I have been wanting to ask you about the AU website. What did you mean when you asked about to NRN beside the countdown? Mine doesn't say that - it says days, hours, minutes. Just trying to figure out what you were seeing. Glad you are safe.

    ReplyDelete
  78. From Jan Terri's web site:
"I have one brother who is younger then me. He hopes to be either a model/bodybuilder/actor or singer like me."

Hmmm... I didn't see the connection before but it fits. William Hung is Jan Terri's little brother!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think you're right, THT!

    ReplyDelete
  80. HABOTN sure is slow tonight; this calls for some O-zone.

Nothing keeps the puppets away like Romanian electronica.

    ReplyDelete
  81. The farcitudes of this place makes me chuckle, I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  82. much better O-zone

Dragostea Din Tei is seriously over played

    ReplyDelete
  83. Georgia Coach Vince Dooley called him "The Boy Wonder"

Others referred to him as "The Human Deer"

He was TERRY BEASLEY, the greatest receiver in AU history!!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. No arguement there! Though it was before my time, and I doubt you'd try to hit him, with a bb gun.

    ReplyDelete
  85. LGG - good point! Those wretched animals were about 15 feet from our back door eating up plants today until I got the bb gun out. A few hours later, they were right back up there again. It's dark now, I'm guessing they'll be sneaking up for thirds if they aren't already out there.

    ReplyDelete
  86. If you see them you can try to hit them again, at least it'd give you a good excuse on why you missed them again :P

    ReplyDelete
  87. Terry Beasley was the namesake of my childhood pet, a sheep dog named "Beasley."

    A great dog.

Terry was an amazing player, but football was not good to him. When I was an officer in the Elmore County AU Club, we invited him to our preseason shindig to give him an award. He was overwhelmed.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I think it's official: the THT family doesn't have a life

    ReplyDelete
  89. One week from now ... I hope we're ahead by 17 at the half.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Jet, how is your wife?

    ReplyDelete
  91. She's had a rough day, Kathy ... doesn't feel well ... got an antibiotic IV at the ER this a.m., and a new prescription that didn't agree with her.

I'm about to put her in the bed for the night.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Who needs a life, when you have Auburn football?

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'll be praying for her Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I just downloaded an update for Safari and it scrambled all my buttons.

Jet, I hope your wife can get a good night's sleep and feels better tomorrow. Hopefully she will after the antibiotics get in her system.

    ReplyDelete
  95. 17 would be the low end.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Prayers for her speedy recovery Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  97. CIncy, have you updated your Mac to the new Snow Leopard? I've got to go to the Mac Store tomorrow and get the new system upgrade.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'll stick with my PC, macs are too uppity :P

    ReplyDelete
  99. Kathy,
No, I haven't yet. I am waiting on my son to answer me as to whether he thinks I should do that. I do love my Mac.

    ReplyDelete
  100. When you get to be my age, you can afford to be uppity! Actually my husband surprised me with a new Mac for my 50th birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  101. ok, we're well under 7 days 0 minutes 0 seconds til kickoff. Anyone ready for Kickoff Kountdown Day 6 post?

    ReplyDelete
  102. I'm guessing Lyle, just watched my '89 Iron Bowl tape.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Thanks for the update THT! This will be a long week at work.

    ReplyDelete
  104. LGG - way too smart!!!

    Cincy, get ready!!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Very cool Terry Beasley moment jet.

    Best wishes to the wife.

  107. rats, i meant to put his name at the top as:

Dr. James E "Win" Lyle IV

    ReplyDelete
  108. Kathy,
Just got a text from my son who told me not to upgrade to Snow Leopard yet. Not sure why he wants me to wait, but I will let you know after I talk to him. He is all things Apple, computers, phone, TV, he loves them.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I love reading Auburn football success stories that happen after football is over.

    ReplyDelete
  110. 6 is a difficult number.

Win Lyle is a class act, a fine surgeon and was a heck of a kicker.

Trotman is the finest color commentator we've ever had, and takes the ribbing in good spirit of "who was the QB?" when the invariable questions of the Andrews-Brooks-Cribbs arise. He is a fine man.

And the Little Train was one of the most exciting players to ever put an AU jersey ... I hate that he's had some post-career problems.

    ReplyDelete
  111. T-minus SIX days til kickoff!!!

HAPPY DR JAMES E "WIN" LYLE IV DAY!!!!

The following information is copied, with minor modifications, from the Kenny Howard Athletic Fellowship Training web site.

Dr. Win Lyle is a native of Auburn, Alabama, and graduated from Auburn High School and Auburn University. During college, he was the kicker on the Tiger's 1987-1989 S.E.C. Champion football teams. His honors include 3-time Academic All-SEC, 1987 All-SEC First Team PK, and the winner of the coveted Cliff Hare Award, the highest honor for an Auburn student-athlete. He continued playing football after college professionally with the Phoenix Cardinals and the Birmingham Fire.

Thereafter, Dr. Lyle earned his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School and completed an orthopedic surgical residency at Wright State University School of Medicine. Before becoming a member of our staff, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at The Hughston Clinic. He is now a member of the East Alabama Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic at East Alabama Medical Center.

Dr. Lyle is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of the Christian Medical & Dental Society. He has been active in orthopaedic research and has presented his work at various meetings. He practices general orthopedics with a special interest in arthroscopy and sports medicine.

Dr. Lyle and his wife, Catherine, have two sets of twin boys, John and Andrew and Christopher and James. They also have a daughter, Margaret. In his leisure time, he enjoys golfing, running, softball, and attending Auburn University sporting events

    * * *
Win Lyle led Auburn in scoring in 1987, 1988, & 1989.
His career positions in Auburn's record book:
    Scoring 6th
    Made FGs 2nd
    FG pct 3rd

    HONORABLE MENTION:
Fred Smith - Eufala, AL; CB 1991-94; tied for team lead with 4 INTs as a freshman in 1991.

Charlie Trotman - Montgomery, AL; 1978 & 1979 passing leader; lettered 1977-79. Academic All-SEC 1979. Mr. Trotman is a fine Auburn man and a favorite of Brother Jet.

    MENTION:
Lionel James - Albany, GA; RB 1981-83; one of the heroes of the great Auburn team of 1983, an outstanding RB/kick returner in the NFL, and a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame; an overachiever on the gridiron despite his size, Mr. James also overachieved last year with 3 DUI arrests in less than 4 months.

  112. S L O W N I G H T...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Win Lyle is a good man... A good Auburn man.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I think in a former life I was a character in Gosford Park. The question is which one?

    ReplyDelete
  115. just read an old newspaper story on Colis Cambell, running back from the mid 80s. He was big and fast, but never really escaped the shadows of Bo & Brent.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I want to live in a world without the oppression of pants.

    ReplyDelete
  117. sorry, I dropped this l on the floor.

    Collis

    ReplyDelete
  118. Those two cast large shadows, THT...

    ReplyDelete
  119. have you considered moving to Scotland?

    ReplyDelete
  120. I already there JZ and my it is a fine place to live, sure the neighbors scream and its a bit breezy, but it is freedom like no other.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Monica,
I've never seen that, but I just looked it up and it is something I definitely would like to see. How have I never heard of it?

    ReplyDelete
  122. you're in the comfort of your own home, j-z... why do you have to wear pants?

    ReplyDelete
  123. I own a kilt. I wear it frequently.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Apparently Kodi Burns is play QB for the Prattville Lions tonight. Short hopped another screen pass.

    ReplyDelete
  125. you mean, you wear a dress...

    ReplyDelete
  126. DMiller ...

he's been doing it for years.

    ReplyDelete
  127. prattvegas playing tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  128. i did not know j-z was a cross dresser...
    weirdo

    ReplyDelete
  129. jethro,
did you see my post in a previous thread re: brown recluse?

    ReplyDelete
  130. Playing North Gwinnett on CSS. Defense is playing well, the offense is sucking it up pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Hey...I was Miss Congeniality in the Mr. AUM contest two years running.

    ReplyDelete
  132. so, can someone tell me the story of Collis Campbell quitting football in mid 1986 season? and if he got his degree?

He's pictured here with Coach Chizik at a Muscle Shoals AU Club meeting

    ReplyDelete
  133. DMiller ... I did ... her hand looked horrible earlier ... but looks better tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  134. anybody with Dish tell me what channel CSS is?

    ReplyDelete
  135. THT,
    You've got mail.

    ReplyDelete
  136. D Miller,
I don't think you can. CSS is Charter Sports Southeast so I think you can only get it on cable. Not positive, but I know we can't get it on Direct.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Yep...Sam Gibson has apparently been watching Kodi's film. 7-3 North Gwinnett.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Braves up 9-1 in top of the 8th if anyone is interested. A bunch of homeruns.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Cincy - i don't know how you missed it, but I bet you'd find it delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  140. that sucks...Charter sucks

    ReplyDelete
  141. Can't make the rants if you're sittin' in the pants.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Sean -You have mail.

    snort

    ReplyDelete
  143. No CSS on Direct or Dish.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Don't want you near, if you dress like ... you're weird.

    ReplyDelete
  145. You can't impress if you're wearing a dress.

    ReplyDelete
  146. THT, thanks for the C.Campbell article.
