Early practice notes, 8/19

Hey everyone. Just a few to share after watching 1/10th of one Auburn practice:
  • LB Eltoro Freeman now is wearing a legit, plaster cast on his right wrist. It's black. I think it's pretty menacing as on-the-field weaponry goes.

  • WR Terrell Zachery was on "Muscle Beach" (ie where injured players go during practice) today. Not sure about his issue.

  • Kodi Burns was splitting time between quarterback and wideout.

  • Trooper Taylor had no problem yelling across the field at Burns, who wasn't tucking the ball after catching passes off the JUGS machine. "You have to get the little things right first," Taylor said.

  • Clint Moseley was wearing No. 11 today.

That's a wrap. I'm now working on a short practice video.

  1. It's got to be frustrating to go over to Auburn for such short amount of observation time.

Is Kodi still splitting time because of Wildcat duties or is the coaching staff having buyers regret on CT?

  3. So now they need Dr. Andrews on the sidelines at practice! Lots of new faces on muscle beach.

we all hope is arm works..

  6. if he thinks just cause he moved to a lower number he'll get another crack at making the Kickoff Kountdown, Moseley needs to rethink.

Rule #1: current roster players aren't eligible

Sensi....there seems to be no end to your negative imagination and cynicism. You are always second guessing.

Last Fall I just thought it was because you were fed up with Tubs, but no......it just keeps resurfacing. Anyone can dream up negative, paranoid, cynical comments. Good fans don't verbalize them unless it is something that is a serious and repeating problem. Give us a break....OK?

  8. I don't think that honest discussion of the strengths & weaknesses of a team....and coaching staff for that matter is being a "bad" fan.

In fact that is what a forum such as this is for.

    JMHO.

  10. For my lurking Bama brothers and sisters...

    Happy Phillip Doyle day.

It was just a question, Hoopie.

You could have at least had the common courtesy to answer it before you slammed me.

If I wanted that reaction, I'd post it on Tidesports.com and wait for the 36-0 to get dropped.

And to answer your question - no, I ask question because I am curious.

I don't think they have any regrets. That was actually an attempt at humor. Sorry you missed it.

FSJ....questioning if the coach's are having buyer's remorse 4 practices after selecting the starting QB can't be anything other than looking for attention or very naive. Sensi ain't naive.

If this was the first time he had done this....no problem. He throws this stuff out regularly...I guess hoping something will stick. It's like he is in a contest to be the first to "detect" a problem. 95% of the time, his cynicism is wrong and forgotten and the other times he finds the acorn.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ok..I'm not arguing either way.. I just want this place to continue to be a fountain of information and opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hoop, he's just being a media guy on the podcast. That's what media guys do.

If they spoke only on what is known, radio/podcasts would be completely useless.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anonymous8:24 PM

Sensi...if it was only "humor", then there is no need for anyone to answer or for you to expect one.

If it is humor, then I don't get it, but that wouldn't be the first time.

If it was humor, then I apologize.

  16. Someone pee in your cheerios, Hoop?

  17. I heart Ixtapa....that is all.

  19. Casts can be assets on the field. I expect Freeman's to be bloody after games (if that's his only ailment).

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sensi, you're such a bad fan.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I got sick once from Ixtapa...

    ReplyDelete
  22. If being a bad Auburn fan is wrong....I don't wanna be right.

My bad, I just let a reoccuring pattern that has been bugging for a while.... get the best of me.

  24. True called.

    Let's respect that.

    xoxoxoxox

    ReplyDelete
  25. So you're an Auburn fan, just a bad one?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sens. I think I was the last to draw Hoop's ire. It's all good fella's. We just can't wait til the season starts to see the real thing. As good as Jay G is, he can't provide info on something he can't see, leaving us all to speculate.

I come from generations of AU grads. I love AU, but with all the injuries, depth issues, I don't expect this year to be better than a 6 win season. Anything more, Chiz and company are coaches of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous8:34 PM

I bet El Toro looks bad A with that cast on his hand.

I know they aren't releasing anything legit on that injury but I hope it's not major.

From all accounts, he's going to be a key in this mean blue machine on defense.

P.S. I have a killer recipe for El Toro cheese dip. If you want it, email me.

    Hoopie, that include you. ;-)

  28. Hoopie,
I am with you man, I don't see the humor either, but then again what does an old f@rt like me know about humor. I do think you over reacted just a tad though. Let's don't through grenades tonight. Peace brother, hate bama

Never played ball with a cast, but I used to smash Coors cans at the ol' Jovon Inn with my cast in the Spring '79. Thursday nites were "Coors for a quarter from 8-9".

Hoopie - killer of the silver bullet

    I learn more every day.

  31. Coors for a quarter between 8&9= heaven.

  32. THT, Don't you think that we need to select an all HABOTN team of Bama haters?

    ReplyDelete
  33. THT got a shout-out on the podcast.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm classifying the Sensi-Hoopie dustup as the HABOTN version of "we-can't-wait-to-start-beating-up-on-our-opponents-so-we-take-out-our-frustrations-on-each-other" that frequently happens at this stage of fall practice, and is never anything serious to worry about.

Except, of course, when it happened last year at on the AU practice fields. Then we should have been very, very worried.

I repeat my question from previous post:

What would your reaction be if Gene Chizik went on a tirade with the media similar to Nick Saban's from this week?

What would the media reaction be?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jay I read that John Sullen was working with the ones!! Did he improve that much since getting to campus or are the back-ups just not showing up?

    ReplyDelete
  39. IV,
Thanks for the info about Reid McMillan. I went to an AISA school so I was always impressed when one played for Auburn and even more so when they got decent playing time like Reid and Shayne Wasden. Thanks that was a really cool story

    ReplyDelete
  40. I can't believe Tray Blackmon is in a cast already oooops I mean Eltoro

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think FSJ just (finally) admitted to being an Auburn fan.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hoopie, I think you fit in there somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  43. D. Miller, after re-reading FSJ's comment, I think you are right, he did.

    ReplyDelete
  44. No way...No how....

What I am saying is that I would be a bad ......nevermind.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am seriously tempted to become a reporter of UAT football. When Saban calls out the media I could stand up and say "yeah, that was me and you can smooch my @$$".

    ReplyDelete
  46. Saban is much more entertaining with the media than Mike Shula Dubose Price was.

Price was more entertaining with the strippers however.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Craig you are more than welcome. Shayne was also an outstanding player and is a outstanding person and coach as well. Comes from a fine family. His father, Bobby, was on the 1957 Auburn National Championship team. Bobby was an outstanding coach. He coached here in Prattville for a period of time and his teams were always very well prepared. That impresses me when a team, win or lose, is well prepared and plays hard until the very end no matter the outcome of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sensi, I am not sure what my reaction to a Coach Chiz tirade might be but the media may react by thinking, well he has finally said something more than we are not sure at this time and we will just have to wait and see.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow, this thread got off to a horrible start.

I wish a game would get here, so we can focus all our hatred to the outside instead of the inside.

We're the HABOTN everyone, we're above the petty stuff you find on AL.com. We are the elite.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'd think it was a joke if Chizik did that, because he's so guarded in what he says and with his emotions, it would be amazing to see such an outburst.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well one thing is for sure..

I am part of the elite.

    :-P

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes, but the elite what, faker?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't think that there was any inside hatred displayed, just a little misunderstanding. You are right on two counts, it is time for a game and we are the elite, well except maybe me, but I can dream and hope that some day I will be in the elite league

    ReplyDelete
  54. There is absolutely no way the coaches are reconsidering the starting QB. Even if they changed their minds, they would stick with their decision to avoid creating a rift on the team.

They have said Kodi would still practice as a QB. Also, they may consider him as a possible number 2, at least early on.

    ReplyDelete
  55. You're like that crazy uncle that nobody is sure how he is related, but he's always there at the reunion.

    ReplyDelete
  56. WERK, you talking about Steve or IV?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Has to be me, I majored in Crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  58. No way John Sullen is a 1 for real.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Actually I meant FSJ

    ReplyDelete
  60. I flunked out by the way but Michael was one of my freshmen instructors.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Although I guess he could have been taking about Faker since no one really knows why he's here...except for him.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Crap!!! There goes my campaign for crazy uncle. Months of posting all shot to hell.

    ReplyDelete
  63. He is here for the same reason alcoholics go to AA. He is trying to get cured of being a tider.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm here to spread my Crimson love to all the hotties.

    ReplyDelete
  65. That sounds like a disease.

    ReplyDelete
  66. There is no question. If Chiz had the same behaviour as Saben, the media would crucify him. They don't do this to Saben because they are a bunch of scared little puppies that are afraid to lose access, and make no mistake about it, Saben would end their access.
When in the history of football in this state has the media NOT lined up lockstep behind the Alabama program?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Faker is called faker for a reason. This means to understand the true meaning of his posts you must add the word not to the end of each of his sentences.

    ReplyDelete
  68. SteveFC, I've always thought of you as more the clinically-depressed-first-cousin type.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Is that anything like trying to spread herpes, faker?

    ReplyDelete
  70. See if you follow my logic here... Since FSJ is a regular poster here as well as being a member of the hallowed Ring of Fire, he must therefore be a bad bama fan. If he is a bad bama fan, then he must, on some level, be at least a mediocre Auburn fan.

So basically, in one evening, FSJ has moved from being a bammer to a mediocre, confused Auburn man.

    So sayeth the Shepherd...

    ReplyDelete
  71. FSJ. the closet AU fan, that I will owe $25 to cause the NCAA is so slow, and UAT doesn't abide by the sunshine laws....Right faker...

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hoopie said "JoVonn Inn."

    Oh, my!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hoops a good guy. He loves AU and doesn't want to hear anything negative about them. Can't blame him for that. War Eagle Hoop.. No matter the outcomes of the games, AU is special. It's not about football, it's about AU. That's what the evil empire doesn't understand. Never will.

    ReplyDelete
  74. You guys are a bunch of bammer idiots. You aren't true auburn fans

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hoop isn't always gotta be sunshine ... if you think that, you're missing the deal.

He's just not into speculation. Some of us may be hiding facts when we "speculate," and some of us maybe guessing like it's algebra.

But he's the guardian, and I respect that. Even though, I spar with him occasionally.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The pack has moved to the new thread.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I am cool. I'll just stay here all night. Thanks.
