Eric Smith arrested

Reserve tailback Eric Smith was arrested early this morning for disorderly conduct. It's a misdemeanor charge.

At 1:42 a.m., Smith was arrested outside of the Lexington Hotel and transported to the Lee County Detention Center. According to the police report, Smith was not drunk and did not resist arrest.

Another incident was reported at the Lexington Hotel at the same time, though it's unclear if the two events are related. Auburn police haven't released information regarding the second event.

Smith's charge can be resolved without going to trial.

Why was Smith out at 1:45 a.m. on a school night? Good question.

  1. hello donte aycock. your playing time stock just went up.

  2. I wrote new thread up on the last post... but people have been crying wolf. Let's see how long it takes for everyone to mosey on over here.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Eric Smith, come on dude!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. word chip chip. bring on Donte.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Yep - they will all be asking "Where did everyone go?"

    Don't tell'em Michael.

    ReplyDelete
  6. bout time you showed up, scottie

    ReplyDelete
  7. I hope Chiz does the right thing and makes an example out of him.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Nothing good happens after 1:44 am. He was out just one minute too late.

    ReplyDelete
  9. soccer moms & dads are blowing up the A-House today. it ain't pretty Mon. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Last night was not a good night to be out doing dumb things in Auburn. I saw ABC officers everywhere and they were pulling people out of the bar and arresting them left and right. Surprises me that alcohol wasn't related.

    ReplyDelete
  11. That sounds too harsh for a Friday, Scottie! Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  12. There is always the viewpoint of "well he wasn't going to play much anyway".

    ReplyDelete
  13. AU1292,

Of course alcohol wasn't involved. Eric Smith is 19 years old, he's not old enough to drink. Geez.

You'd think college kids were underage drinkers or something.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You didn't fool me Boxhead.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, better getting over here a little late than allowing Michael to get me on a "Made you look!".

    ReplyDelete
  16. Dang...I didn't believe you Michael.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Eric Smith is one of the players I thought might surprise us this season. Aycock and McCalebb have got much more press, but Smith could be an impact player.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What sober, yet disorderly, conduct do you perpetrate at a hotel to warrant arrest?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is the a defining moment for Chiz on team issues. This is his first public let down from his team. I hope he plays it right.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Would you like a list of examples from my life Mon?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just a warning. I would be cautious if Michael were to point out something on your shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm ready to hear anything you're ready to share, JZ.

    ReplyDelete
  23. my money is on chiz pulling a $aban on this one for the media "no comment". that is where the similarities will end. playing time will be impacted.

i guess ES should have beat up his gf. then he's in the clear and there is precedent to support his defense.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If ice cream is mentioned in the press conference, lets start the coaching search now.

    ReplyDelete
  25. pull up a chair folks. it's time to hear "My Life as a Hooligan" by J-Z.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Au1292: I was at an establishment late last night that was raided by the abc. They must have been out in force.

    ReplyDelete
  27. j-z, she did say "sober".

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey, Steve, there's something right there on you shirt. No, for serious, it's right there.

    ReplyDelete
  29. MJT, your hair is back!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I had to call in and bust Randy Kennedy on WNSP yesterday about satan. He says something about how Upshaw will have to deal with the Court of Saban and makes him sound (as usual down here) like he is the greatest coach when it comes to handling these issues. I called him out and said name somebody he has waterboarded. I don't mean the DJ Hall 1st half suspension....HE couldn't.

I don't want Chiz to be that guy.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Dang if I didn't look at my shirt. I am doomed.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Trust me...I've had at least 3 "sober" run ins with the po po in hotel parking lots. One of them was due to a drunk fraternity brother. One was due to me having a faulty self edit button. The third occurred in hs, when for some reason, the Holiday Inn parking lot in Prattville seemed like a good place to go parking.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Worst of all, it had bean dip on it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. (i sometimes think steve sees and comments on his own little thread that nobody else sees)

    ReplyDelete
  35. And I will admit it took me a while to get over here because I thought you were crying wolf, Mchial.

Do you and J-Z plan that?

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's from all the paint chips he ate with the bean dip.

    ReplyDelete
  37. K, nope...he got me too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Missed the earlier thread, so I'll say this here: Harry Shearer absolutely ROCKS as Mike Wallace.

As far as Mr. Smith is concerned, a minimum one-game suspension for conducting himself in such a fashion as to attract the attention of the gendarmes.

I have to point out that Chizik will look pretty foolish if he punishes players for not having their helmets lined up right at practice, but goes easy on someone who gets arrested. JOMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now the poor DirecTV guy is having to work in the rain because he spent too much time arguing about whether he could install it today.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Chiz should find out the situation first, but my guess is that if a police officer takes you in, something ain't right.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Maybe Eric Smith and reporter A were talking and reporter A got him all worked up and he says, "I got your back dog," drives around until he finds reporter B in an establishment that had just been raided by the ABC guys, that Jay G was visiting, goes in and decks him. He yells out, "This is for my boy Reporter A" and they cuff and stuff him.

    ReplyDelete
  42. once again, bammer should take a long look toward memphis. $aban would do the same thing calipari did in a second. cheat like hell and get outta dodge before the sheriff shows up to spank the townsfolk who were complicit. meanwhile he's just inked a fat deal with ND and can't find the state of alabama on a map.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Steve,

I've been in a police car several times, and I hadn't done any wrong any of those times.

Of course my dad was a police officer and he was taking me to school in the mornings as a kid, but still.

Awww, poor guy. (say this dripping with sarcasm, Kristina)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I will expect no less than some game suspensions from CGC. He was straight with the players from the beginning on how he expects them to behave.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous1:13 PM

    Monica, you have mail.

    ReplyDelete
  48. tigercowboy - i think your scenario is the most plausible

scott choc - yeah, my new avatar has the hair but unfortunately also features the scarlet letter M Monica has demanded I wear.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have actually had the opportunity to pick up free transportation from local police a few times. It happens.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm just glad that records can be expunged.

    ReplyDelete
  51. tigercowboy gets down to the true story. Eric Smith was just there to make sure that journalistic integrity lives for another day.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Steve,

Was that the riot squad or the SWAT team?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yes, I just read it smartass. I remember way back - years ago - when I first met you, Luv. You were such a sweet girl. What happened to you??
Sending me these kinds of emails, coaching Kristina in sarcasm?

Some might say you're under the influence of a new, bad crowd...

    ReplyDelete
  54. I also have had free transportation but they did not follow directions very well. I ended up in a very cramped and not so comfortable bed, instead of the Hilton I had demanded to be taken. Although I did get to sleep late, as I had planned originally.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous1:19 PM

I know they are college kids and want to have fun, BUT, I'm sure - as Kathy has stated - the coaches have made it quite clear what's expected from them. If playing football is important to them, why put oneself in a position to jeopardize that?

Monica, you perhaps? LOL And, I'm still sweet, SB! Just ask Tar Heel and Jet. I'm sure they've got my back. (you guys do have my back, right?)

    ReplyDelete
  59. yep, Luv's sweet. Or at least that's what she tells me.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous1:24 PM

    (aghast look) Tar Heel!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Because I need so much coaching in the sarcasm department...;-)

    ReplyDelete

    Is Eric a journalism major?

    ReplyDelete
  64. LOL Kristina Good point.
After all, K is the one who taught me about using the "sarcasm font".

    That was a good one.

  65. sweet as that good ol' LA cane I used to chew when we'd visit our kin in Crenshaw Co.

    ReplyDelete
  67. LOL, Jason. That would make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  68. My lord, that dish is huge!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have been in trouble with the cops twice for water ballooning adventures. No arrests and I wasn't drunk, though. Maybe that's what Eric Smith was doing.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Is it a prerequisite for engineering majors to get in trouble for water ballooning incidents? My husband also had a few altercations with the law due to his water balloon slingshot and a vehicle.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Are you worried about getting Swine Flu @ a football game?

    ReplyDelete
  72. only if there are bammers there

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous1:32 PM

To whom are you directing that question, Monica?

    ReplyDelete
  74. I water ballooned a state trooper of the top of the TRM football stadium. That takes a special kind of smarts right there.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Michael, do water balloons explain the MJT physique? I didn't realize you could get in trouble with the cops for stuffing with water balloons. I also didn't know doing that was referred to as an "adventure".

    ReplyDelete
  76. I am directing that to anyone who is going to be attending a game at Auburn University's JERDUHN Hare Stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Those of you traveling to Fayetteville should definitely take extra precautions against Swine Flu.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Me thinks Monica is making an Arkansas reference, but there could be some hidden sarcasm there I just ain't getting.

    ReplyDelete
  79. J-Z, that's funny about having a run-in with the police while parking. What was the girl's name, E-Z?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Fridays are great, the HABOTN, work, and singing along to Tusk playing on my PC. Does life get better than this?

    ReplyDelete
  81. No, lol I'm being serious! There are reported cases of swine flu @ Auburn. There is lots of concern about school and large gatherings, etc. I was just curious if any of you were concerned about contracting the H1N1 flu virus.

    ReplyDelete
  82. If her name had been E-Z, we'd have been long gone before the Po Po rolled up.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I don't count run ins with the police while parking unless alcohol was involve. Unfortunately alcohol was usually involved.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I've got a big term life ins. policy that runs out before too long. Bring it on!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. THT Clearly you are indestructible so I think you're safe.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  89. Choco, the Beasley post deserves more substance...

    something like this...

    BEALEY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. ehhh we've had swine flu around here for awhile, no big deal. I probably even had it.

scott chocolate - everything about Jan Terri is natural. No balloons or anything else needed.

kristina- I think all men, engineers or not, need to destroy things and bother people when they are young. I guess I still do that, but now it's more mentally than physically.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Are you suggesting I wash my hands before I eat blueberry cobbler?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Luv, if only j-z had followed that advice in his dating life.

    ReplyDelete
  93. There's been like a billion posts today.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Swine flu is everywhere Monica - just deal with it

    ReplyDelete

  98. Is it asking too much that radio guy not eat on air?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Is it asking too much that this dude finish installing this massive satellite dish?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Is it HUGE like the old ones or were you just expecting a smaller dish?

    ReplyDelete
  101. If it's one of the big ones, can we line it with aluminum foil for sunbathing purposes?

    ReplyDelete
  102. For some reason I am picturing zoo keeper with one of those giant dish contraptions in her front yard..

    I kid.

    ReplyDelete
  103. No, it's not like the old ones. Hee hee. It's just larger than most of the ones I have seen. I think the one our friends bring to tailgate isn't HD and the HD ones are bigger??

I hope they are relatively sturdy b/c he stuck it in the backyard where it's just asking to get rammed into or hit with a ball of some type.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Mon, you'd be surprised what some radio hosts do on the air.

I'll save some to the imagination.

However I was producing a show once where one of the hosts fell asleep because the guest was so boring.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Bigger, huh? Did I mention my name is really j-z HD?

    ReplyDelete
  106. I know I'm new to the Facebook thing, but it seems it would be a much better experience if Mafia and Farmville, Yo ville, etc, etc, did NOT exist.

    ReplyDelete
  107. And apparently my name is FSJ....standard definition.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I have fond memories of seeing the fields of small single wide trailers with huge satellite dishes sitting next to them. As a kid I marveled at them, the space age, and how these people had their priorities in order.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Oh the many possible replies to that, J-Z....

    ReplyDelete
  110. Choco - yep, I'm gonna need that s for later.

crap! you jut tricked me into uing it, now I don't have any left :-(

    ReplyDelete
  111. Agree Aubie..

I get all kinds of farmville requests etc..I wear out that Ignore button.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I have the information first-hand now, so no more need for links.

The situation is exactly as reported earlier, though Auburn police say this matter can be settled without a trial.

I expect this to bypass the courtroom.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Oh the many possible replies to that, Faker...

    ReplyDelete
  114. Well that's good..Maybe the charges will be dropped.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Farm Town is awesome. I have grown my farm to be the largest possible. I now have over a million in the bank. Don't underestimate farm town and don't hate me because I am beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  116. If only I had become a headbanger...life would be so much more simple.

    ReplyDelete
  117. No trial is good news. Thanks Jay. Apparently there wasn't an assault, possibly some disorderly conduct or something. Now lets all go out for ice cream.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Aubie, use the hide button. It's a miracle invention.

    ReplyDelete
  119. WERK you should never leave to the imagination what you tell me in an email! :-) Just kidding. I'll just fill in the blanks.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yes, I am a big proponent of the "Hide" button on FB as well.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I wondered why you never comment on my posts anymore... Now I see how this works.

    ReplyDelete
  122. swine should be worried about catching the crimson flu from bammers. at least all evidence points to FSJ's immunizations being up to date. swine still better be looking over their shoulder for him. he may try to bbq and eat them.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Uh.....I have no idea what you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  124. My last post was for JZ, although I guess it could have worked for Chip's as well. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  125. ok zoo keeper...

what chip chip is saying...if there's a pig around...I'm gonna smoke his/her bacon.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Kristina:

    Does it look like THIS?

Sorry about the shake.. double espresso from Starbucks does that to me.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Aeronaut...

One of the videos linked on the side looks interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Aero, no, not quite that big or ugly or rednecky.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Disclaimer: I didn't make the video, and I am not related to the OneEyedMary that has posted the video on youtube.

    ------------

Once I get out of here, I am going to make carbon fiber helmets and pads .. and sell them to everyone but bama.

I'd let the teams playing bama rent them out for gameday, free of cost.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Eric Smith 2:00 am, Lexington Hotel, never a good combo.

-Maybe he wanted some bluberry muffins they put out to serve as a breakfast bar
    -Maybe he was sleepwalking
-Maybe he was working on a case study for hotel management
-Maybe he was testing the local police response time
-Maybe he was doing a term paper on how the media treats athletes who have run in with the law.

Maybe, he was just a dumbass. Now he will pay.

Tubbs did not put up with crap. I give him that. Gene Chizik, even worse I just see his issues with helmet placement, plus his military upbringing I dont think Chiz gives out ice cream cones. I see punishment of some kind.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Hide button. Just found it... it was hidden.
    Life just got better!

    ReplyDelete
  133. it's going to take more than the d*** swine flu to keep me outta JHS!!!!

1:45am is awfully late to be out & not drinking. unless he was the DD. hhhmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Does anyone have a deposite slip because here are my one time two cents on yesterdays bama arrest.

What a rube that dad was. He should have his parenting rights taken away. A man "NEVER" touches a woman, no matter what. He was twice her size. The fact the dad gave interviews and statements is sad, that and the fact he sided with the boyfriend. I hope someone lays it on Wonder dad and lineman they call lady beater. The end.

    ReplyDelete
  135. and the people said

    ReplyDelete
  136. I doubt he will be in serious trouble

    ReplyDelete
  137. very good scottie

    ReplyDelete
  138. Anonymous2:25 PM

Agree, pdwt! I would tell my dad never to speak to me again. How in the h*** can someone side with the person that assaulted your child??? He said she deserved it. WHAT???

    ReplyDelete
  139. PDWT,

I'm not a parent, but it amazed me that a dad would go out and defend someone geting violent toward their daughter.

Either this guy is one of those goofy Bama fans who will do anything to protect the program, or someone came to him and told him to make it good. My bet is he's afraid it would hurt the football team, so he blamed his daughter.

    Sad.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Eric went to the Lexington as a favor to Craig Stevens, who had heard there was going to be a Beat Hack Throwdown at 2 a.m.

Eric knew we had plenty of depth at RB, and we don't at LB, so as a Sunshine State brother, he went in his place to broker the peace.

But as always the officials penalized the peacemakers.

    Sad.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Best post i have seen today on a board said that Eric Smith should be punished by being forced to play linebacker.

    I admit I smiled.

    ReplyDelete
  142. You guys are really having fun today. If I had just a small idea of what you speak, I would join in. We have had a very exciting day here at the home. Stretchercizes this morning after our oatmeal. Fun playing canasta and gin rummy before lunch. Just now, a young fellow in his 50's came by and oiled our wheel chairs and walkers. We get our toenails clipped on Monday, big day.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Faker, don't underestimate the value of drunk chicks.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I have heard that Chizik is seriously displeased. We will find out tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  145. In all seriousness, the guy worries about helmet alignment.

I would suspect you might see Eric's head aligned next to the helmets at practice.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm guessing that a guy like Chizik doesn't put up with much.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Ouch, seriously displeased in terms of Chizik means infuriated. Seriously displeased is one step above peeved. Tune into the HABOTN tonight to keep up with what is happening with the Chizik/Smith beatdown.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Kicker on a stick replaced with runningback on a leash?

    ReplyDelete
  149. I was about to say the same thing FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Yes, never underestimate the value of drunk chicks.

FWIW, IV, I rarely know what we're talking about on here and still, I post.

    ReplyDelete
  151. You crack me up, IV.

I hope you have new batteries in your pacemaker. Sounds like y'all are seriously kickin it at the home today/

    ReplyDelete
  152. I sure hope that Coach Chizik is displeased. I approve if he is. And for the so called father of the girl in T'loser, it sounds to me like he has doubts about his own manhood and feels that by taking the boyfriends side, he is proving something about himself. Might be interesting to know if he has an assault on a female or two on his record. Anyway, I will bet that his through down money account is somewhat larger today than it was the day before the assault charges on the Bama idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Hey, the dad of the guy in Tuscaloser needs to have someone walk up and bitch slap him and ask him what was he thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  154. you can tell the Chiz i'm seriously upset myself.

    ReplyDelete
  155. "bitch" slap, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  156. I took pride in protecting my daughter. I felt like I should have won a reward when I chased off a boy with a stare once.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Monica, Had fresh ones installed yesterday or was that my hearing aids? I shouldn't joke about that, I really do have hearing aids or rather my family does. They got tired of my saying HUH?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Ok..lets get back to my favorite subject...

    drunk chicks.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Because I know the never-ending saga of my dish install is so enthralling, I would like to update that Mr. Zookeeper is now out there showing the dude how to run the cable to the house.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Yea, the proper technical term is "bitch slap". Walk up with a calm demeanor until within stiking range. Quickly extend hand with palm fully open. Rapidly apply palm to cheek. You don't hit wimps such as this. Hitting propose a battle. Bitch slap is a wake up call.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Any chance of live video of the dish install? This is getting exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Our DirecTV guy installed a dish and guy #2 said it never should have been installed because of where we were located. Every DirecTV guy that came by would slam the guy that had been here before him. oy

    ReplyDelete
  163. Kristina, Who is watching the zoo while all of this excitement is going on?

    ReplyDelete
  164. I hope someone taught your daughter not to date a man who calls a woman bitch or who uses the term "bitch slap".

    ReplyDelete
  165. Anonymous2:48 PM

IV, Kristina is a mother - they are experts at multitasking!

    ReplyDelete
  166. I can think of probably 5,000 places that are better hangout spots than the Lexington Hotel in Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I once installed a small dish myself. I finally got it pointed in the right direction just before getting to the point of begging God to just strike me down and put me out of my misery. It was a horrible experience.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Hmmm, don't know about calling a woman a bitch. That is association you made Monica. As for the term bitch slap. It is appropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  169. The zoo animals are enjoying the PS3 at the moment after being cooped up at zoo school.

Although my oldest did tell the dish guy he should attach the cable to a long stick and that would make it easier to run under the deck. Pretty clever for a 9 year old, I thought.

    ReplyDelete
  170. J-Z... Are you awake or are you actually trying to do some work for a change. You mentioned the Holiday Inn adventure you had in a Volkswagen earlier. Isn't that the time they had to use the jaws of life to get the girl out of the back seat?

    ReplyDelete
  171. LOL, faker, you meant the real one not the fake one, didn't you? My bad.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Clearly, you think it's appropriate, Steve. That's not shocking.

    ReplyDelete

  180. I remember back in the 90's my friend's dad stole satellite channels. He had the huge dish in the backyard, but he had some kind of illegal card that gave him all the channels. Whenever you called him out on it, his excuse was, "They're beaming the TV in my house without my permission. Why shouldn't I be allowed to use all the TV they are sending me?"
