Interesting tidbit

The Advertiser's own Tim Gayle reports that Petey Smith, former Auburn recruit and 2009 Alabama signee, is not listed on the Tide's official roster.

Speculation is that Smith is headed for a grayshirt season.

Remember the mild uproar that ensued when Smith committed to Alabama during the winter?

Recruiting ... a journey into the absurd.

  4. Good for him. The only Petey I care about is the dog from the Little Rascals. You guys know a high schooler has no problem running their mouth only to be kicked to curb by our good buddy NIcky-Poo...

As a time filler, ESPN dudes have re-conference everyone. I haven't read the article, but I noticed we ended up in the Bear Bryant Conference.

It is taking every ounce of energy not to type numerous expletives in response to this story. What is the purpose of this story? Whose idea was it to put Auburn in the "Bear Bryant Conference"? Funk Bear Bryant. Funk Schlabach. Funk ESPN. Idiots. Moronic time wasting idiots. That is all.

  10. DL back in the game!

we all strive to be like DL... only clothed.

Michael - I echo your expletives. It always annoyed me that Tot and Tubs accepted those ugly trophies. That refuse doesn't belong in Auburn. My Mom once gave me a big figurine that was supposedly symbolic of my career choice. It looked like the Bahr, so it always faced the wall on a bookshelf.

  13. Hi Nugget,

I usually receive tix about 2 weeks before kickoff. Seems like I remember them sending an email announcing shipment last August.

  14. Maybe Lardarius Owens and CJ Moesly will learn from this

  15. Well we needed LB's...what can you do?

  16. If Auburn doesn't get Owens someone at Auburn hasn't done their job.

  17. Not true, just because his uncle went to AU doesn't mean he's an automatic lock, he's a 17 year old kid making his own choice.

  18. Most teenagers care more about their future than their uncle's pasts. If he is more convinced his future is better getting in league with Saban, then more power to him.

  19. Exactly, Michael...cheers

  29. Dear Petey,

Auburn offered playing time. Bama offered a gray shirt. What kind of bonehead decision did you make?

    ReplyDelete
  30. So Petey Smith knew he was going to grayshirt?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kathy, he should have known. Count the signees. Count the linebackers. Ah, now I understand the problem. It is that little word count that probably gave him problems.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I read an article in Petey's hometown paper that stated he knew he would grayshirt. Did Auburn stop recruiting him when the new bosses came on board and Willis left?

  33. Kathy...

Thanks for the excellent link. Everyone needs to read the comments below the article. Both Texas and UF fans really give us props.

  34. I wonder if Petey would like to borrow the nickname that Tony Franklin used on himself.

  35. Thanks ehyou for the heads up on the comments. I hadn't read those.

  36. More love offerings from Mark Schlaabeck (sounds like Quebec). When last heard from, MS was predicting an 0-4 beginning to the Chizick era.

Can't stand that hack, but the fact that we're hearing from him means that sustenance is near.
