- Gus Malzahn isn't ready to make a decision at quarterback, though he made it clear tonight that he's seeing some trends. ``We've seen some improvement. Some have improved more than others."
- I have no idea whom Malzahn is identifying there.
- Trooper Taylor to WR Travante Stallworth during practice: "Are you tired? I'm out here doing this longer than you are. Do you think they feel sorry for you in Tuscaloosa? How about in Athens, Ga.?"
- LB Eltoro Freeman on his approach to football: ``I’m going full-speed. If the pads are on, it doesn’t matter. I’m going full speed. That’s it. Full-speed. Even with them off, even when we’re tracking, where we slow down when we get close to the ball, I’m full-speed, downhill."
- Asked what part of his game has improved most since the Iron Bowl, QB Kodi Burns said: ``My overall game. Just going out there and taking charge of the offense. Confidence. Accuracy. Just different things. I feel like it's a total rebound from the spring."
- Today's Up-Down Brigade included K Wes Byrum and WR DeAngelo Benton.
- Gene Chizik on today's practice: ``We did some team stuff today. We did an inside run period, which we haven’t been able to do without shoulder pads. That was really good. We had a chance to get down there and really get physical. We added about 10 minutes of that to the flavor of practice."
- Freeman said he unloaded a big lick on RB Mario Fannin, which wasn't corroborated yet seemed credible coming from Freeman's mouth. He could sell ShamWOWs without a problem.
- Asked if any players have stood out to him so far, Chizik said: ``Everybody is pretty much status quo."
- Auburn's fourth practice will be held Saturday afternoon. I will not be attending.

Post-practice reaction, 8/7
Hey everyone. Let's get to it:
Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteI AM AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteYou're mighty active this evening.
ReplyDeleteJay ...
ReplyDeleteWould you separate Norm and Monica?
Thanks.
Love the Troop comment to Stallworth.
ReplyDeleteEltoro seems to have a mouth on him. Hopefully he isn't writing checks he can't cash.
Yes, I'm awesomely active.
ReplyDeleteAnd I definitely liked the Troop comment too. Classic.
ReplyDeleteI could see Trooper a la Herman Boone saying, "Gentlemen, we're going to do up-downs until Travante isn't tired anymore."
ReplyDeleteI don't have, nor do I desire, dominion over Monica.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I can politely suggest that we PLAY NICE OR GET SPANKED.
Methinks that'd be right up Mon's alley.
ReplyDeleteI read in an artical that said the only reason Chris Todd was reping with 1st team today was because Malzahn needed to see what Todd could do quick, because theres not alot of time. I suspect Malzahn already has it narrowed down. I think its Caudle personaly. Malzahn also said its becoming "quite difficult" for the rookies to stay at the pace he wants them to with learning the offense right now.. I think he put caudle in 2nd team today because in a way caudle didnt have to prove himself today because hes ahead of everybody else. That make any since? haha
ReplyDeleteFinally got caught up on all of today's activities. Some Hotties have been very active in here today. Great job JGT and all his followers!
ReplyDeleteI understand Gus is putting in a new formation ... the MildCat ... with Chris Todd throwing 10 yard go routes.
ReplyDeleteIf that's about all he can do, that would seem easy enough to defend.
ReplyDeleteAlright kids. That's it for me. I'm out. Enjoy yourselves.
ReplyDeleteI SO love the TT quote! I love him (of course he's not yelling that at me).
ReplyDeleteA couple of those throws seen on HABOTN HD ... sure looked like Todd's arm needed a nerf ball.
ReplyDeleteJet you big ole tattle tale. grrrrr
ReplyDeleteSorry, Monica...
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't listen to me, the babysitter, so I had to tell yo Daddy.
Instead of attending practice, Jay will be getting stuck in Auburn traffic, since tomorrow is the first day for students to the into the new Village residence halls!
ReplyDeletehmmmm...and he threatened me with a good time...
ReplyDeletetime for my ghost show
WTC ...
ReplyDeleteWe booked a UHaul ... sorry, no Jed Clampett drive over for the hometeam.
This is quite a switch. My kids are fussing because they say I am spending too much time on the internet on our family vacation. How many times have I said that to them over the years!?
ReplyDeleteThey say I need an intervention. :)
I love it!
Norm-Here is a map of the course.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.trakshak.com/tyfoon/site/fckeditor/file/Montgomery_Half-Marathon_Course.pdf
Jet-Good luck with the move. Looks like the day will be nice and warm for you.
ReplyDeleteCincy, I'm jealous. I was just telling my husband how much I miss the beach.
ReplyDeleteI'm out guys/girls. Gotta rest up for the 12 miler in the AM.
ReplyDeleteAlso need to check in on the recruiting front to see if I can find out anything. Anybody hearing any rumors they can share? I don't follow it very much.
I am headed home.
ReplyDeleteAgain: I will NOT be attending practice on Saturday. The Daughter's soccer team plays for the TITLE tomorrow and I'll soon be celebrating sweet Congo vistory.
It's also 12 years for me and Wifey, so we're having an Adult Night Out.
I will have a video tomorrow and at least one thread of substance.
Take care, HOTTIES.
So Jay your not only missing practice but the Extension opening?
ReplyDeleteI lived in the old extension they year they tore it down, that place was unbelievably bad, but we had a blast living there.
Evening Hot Ones! I'm checking in from GA and this central time thing ("fast time" as the natives in Lee County call it) is throwing me off with the post times. Anywho...can I add UGA to my HATE list?
ReplyDeleteHappy Bananaversary to Jay G and Wifey.
ReplyDeleteBig Cat ...
ReplyDeleteAs the manager of the Hate Division, your request regarding UGA is approved.
Good night all.
Football practice, oohhhhh yeah!
ReplyDeleteSteven, don't make too much of them swapping Caudle and Todd. Malzahn has been seeing Todd every day in practice too. He likely wants to compare Todd and Kodi. It doesn't mean Caudle is the guy or Kodi is the guy or Todd is the guy. Remember, Rollison is still in this too and he may have been comparing Rollison to Caudle today.
ReplyDeleteThe real comparison of QBs will be done next week.
ReplyDeleteSteve - What was our bet again? I forgot.
ReplyDeleteHey. Why is the dailey number count not up yet? I've been waiting for three and one half hours for it (I gave the hour between midnight eastern time and midnight central time to the zombies of the east), and nothing has come. Drats.
ReplyDeleteSweet. I can't spell daily.

JayGT - just remember, this is a family blog.
HAPPY WILLINGHAM-LANGNER-HARRIS DAY!!!
ReplyDeleteT-minus 28 days to kickoff!
#28 Larry Willingham - born in Cullman, raised in Birmingham. Larry was a consensus ALL-AMERICAN in 1970, his senior year at Auburn. He has a .667 Iron Bowl winning pct. He played professionally with the St. Louis Cardinals (NFL) and Birmingham Americans/Vulcans (WFL). With his Auburn degree in hand (Business Administration), Larry has pursued a successful career in real estate. Last I heard, you could buy your dream home from him in Gulf Shores.
#28 David Langner needs no introduction. Mr. Langner is forever immortalized in Auburn football history thanks to his performance in the 1972 Iron Bowl. He returned two punt blocks for touchdowns and drove a stake in the Bahr's heart with a game-clinching interception. David Langner contributed in many other facets of the game. He led Auburn with a 13.8 yd punt return average in 1972 and still Auburn's all-time single-season leader with a 28.28 yd kickoff return average that year. In fact, no one..not Brent Fullwood, not Alexander Wright, not Tristan Davis...with a minumum of 10 kickoff returns has been able to best Langner's 1972 average. He also is tied for 5th on Auburn's all-time INT list with 12, and has the highest career INT return avg of 23.9 yds. Despite all those superlatives, Mr. Langner was not voted ALL-SEC until his 1973 Sr year.
#28 Bob Harris was born in Everett, Washington and graduated from Cedar Grove High School in Decatur, GA. He was a key player in Auburn's 1982 Iron Bowl win. In 1979, Auburn trounced Georgia between the hedges, 33-13. Although JB's 200 yds rushing, and Joe Cribb's 167 yds rushing may have been important, one could easily state a case for true freshman and future ALL-SEC'er Bob Harris for MVP of that game. The youngster had an INT and TWO fumble recoveries, all in the 3rd quarter as Auburn overcame a 10-9 halftime deficit. Just like Larry Willingham, Bob played professionally in St. Louis (NFL) and Birmingham (the Stallions of the USFL).
WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
Let's hear some shout outs for our other 28s!!!
I'll start with a shout out to MrsTHT and me, who are celebrating 28 years of marital bliss today!!!
Good morning, Hotties! Happy Anniversary, TarHeel!!
ReplyDeleteI love me some Trooper Taylor! He's exactly what the WR's need!!
ReplyDelete#28 Brad Lester as a Freshman on the 2004 team before changing to #1
ReplyDeleteTHT, there's no good way to pick b/t those 3. glad you included them all.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY #28 DAY!
i love Troop wearing cletes to practice. he's in the mix. pretty cool.
Happy Anniversaries to JGT & THT!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your day off Mr. Tate.
I like The Bull and his I play at 1 speed.
ReplyDeletePlus I like this pic =====>
ReplyDelete1st Anniversary is today! Married on 8-8-8. Must be something in the air.
ReplyDeleteI just watched the Burns/Todd video. From a female's perspective, who just loves the game of football, but doesn't know a whole lot about it like all of the male Hotties, just from this these little snippets, I'm most impressed with Caudle. His throwing motion seems so much more effortless and natural than Burns and Todd. A couple of Todd's throws were just terrible. Granted, Burns and Caudle may have had throws like too, but we didn't see that in Jay G's videos. I'm probably wrong, but I think it's too late for Todd. IMHO, Franklin did him a disservice by bringing him to Auburn.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary, bharris!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy today and Luv nice disection.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you want to see Utah beat Alabama again that is on FCS. Oh TD Utes.
Langner story ... from my brother ... via fraternity brother of his.
ReplyDeleteFirst day of class 1972 ... Langner walks in the classroom ... espying the scenery ... finds the prettiest girl in the room ... so he selects the seat to her left.
A problem? Someone else is occupying the seat. Langner walks us up and informs the guy politely that there must be some misunderstanding and that the seat is his. The seated young man bristles at the suggestion.
Langner pummels the uncooperative lout for a minute or so.
Day 2 of class and thereafter, no one sits down until the pretty girl has made her choice for the class and then Langner. Ah, teamwork.
Radical, I finally have something to kill time in lovely Afghanistan. By the time I get off shift AU has finished practice and all the new videos are just being posted, none as good as Jay G Tates though!!
ReplyDeleteJay G ...
ReplyDeleteEnjoyable read in the Mosiac/Gutenberg version of the Advertiser today.
Eduardo would enjoy the color photograph of Da Freak.
Luv - I agree with your (as usual) astute film analysis!
ReplyDeleteLangner did have just a wee bit of a temper. During one interception return, he leaped high in the air, cleats first, at a FSU player. Bruce Lee would have been proud.
A "wee" bit of a temper. LOL
ReplyDeleteDoWhat?!!! Great to see you again. I was just thinking about you yesterday during a Hottie discussion of the benefits of using night vision goggles while reading HABOTN thread.
ReplyDeleteTarHeel, are you and Mrs. THT doing anything special today?
ReplyDeleteLuv ...
ReplyDeleteI bet it involves ice cream and chocolate syrup!
Do you have a favorite place to get those things (ignoring the glaringly obvious sexual innuendo)?
ReplyDeleteDoes Mrs. THT share your ice cream passion?
ReplyDeleteJet, have you had a dipped cone lately?
ReplyDeleteLuv - I'm about to head out for several hours of outdoor misery....er... outdoor chores...er ...outdoor fun-filled activity. We're going out to dinner at a place MrsTHT wants to try: An
ReplyDeleteChores on your anniversary???
ReplyDeleteyes, MrsTHT loves ice cream, but she doesn't partake any more. She's the only skinny one in her family, yet the only one with real high cholesterol.
ReplyDeleteLuv - you got to remember, it's MrsTHT's anniversary, too! And also remember, I'm usually quite worthless, so helping out a couple of days each year is the least I can do ;-)
ReplyDeleteAn looks AUsome! I hope you thoroughly enjoy your evening with Mrs. THT!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm headed downstairs to clean the kitchen and living room. UGH. I hate housecleaning. I'd rather be doing "outdoor activities."
So, for her anniversary, she requested outdoor activities for you?
ReplyDeleteand you're not worthless!
ReplyDeletere: fav Ice cream source... here I stick with Breyer's vanilla with Hershey's Chocolate Syrup. If I was in Blue Bell's territory, that's what I'd eat.
ReplyDeleteWhen in distant locales, I try to find a B&R; I've been hooked on B&R Chocolate Chip since my Auburn days. A couple of times a week I would go up to College St. and get (and consume) a hand-packed quart of Chocolate Chip ice cream. Now, I just settle for the hand packed pint. The former was $2.20 including tax, the latter $1.10. Yes, it was a long time ago.
I need the picture of Da Freak.
ReplyDeleteI think you can kiss Todd good-bye. It sounds like his arm is still not there from all that I've read and heard. Anyone think that Da Freak is the one making the move that Gus is talking about? All I can say is what I've been saying.....get on board the Rollison Express.
she didn't request, I'm going to sneak out there while she's running errands. She's hosting a wedding shower in 2 weeks and our driveway needs to be pressure-washed so it looks more like the native concrete rather than some strange kind of asphalt.
ReplyDeleteMissTHT and THTjr have been working on it this week. I figured it's my turn. I don't want to see our next water bill.
well, Eddie, my only glimpse into the situation has been through the lens of one super cinematographer, Writher Tate. Based on that footage, I have thrown my suitcase on the train and I've got one foot on the platform, one on the train.
ReplyDeleteoops! *Writer
ReplyDeleteI hope he's not writhing!!!
TarHeel, I thought maybe she was going to be sitting on the lounge chair drinking a mint julep watching you do manual labor. ;-)
ReplyDeleteTHT- you will not be dissappointed, just wait and see.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching 1994 AU-LSU game right now. One of my favorites. Heading to White Water this afternoon with the Fam. Should be fun.
crazy finish to that '94 game, most memorable for the purple shirt MrsTHT packed for little THTjr to wear, an issue that was very quickly addressed with an early morning visit to TigerRags.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't care to relive that game; our offense in that game was less productive than the one we used last year in Starville.
here I go. Wish me luck! Y'all Hotties have a GREAT DAY!!
ReplyDeleteWARRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
HATE BAMA in a way that would make Jet & Norm proud.
Agreed THT, that's why I only watch the 4th quarter.
ReplyDeletewell, perhaps it can wait just a few more minutes, assuming we keep this thing active.
ReplyDeleteLet's get FIRED UP!!!
