Practice notes, 8/26

Hey everyone. We'll do this in two stages.

STAGE ONE
  • Craig Stevens said he's been impressed with how LB Adam Herring has been playing. The sophomore participated in a full practice Tuesday for the first time since November.

  • Tyrik Rollison was back at practice today.

  • Gus Malzahn is refusing to discuss who all is working at that "3" position that Mario Fannin allegedly owns. "We've got three or four other guys that will be in that role. And it goes back to what they do best. And really, I don't want to be real specific because that will have a lot to do with what role they play in certain situations."

  • Ted Rüf, aka Roof, said he's been impressed with walk-on LB Wade Christopher. ``He's a guy that always knows what to do and he's always available and always willing. You ask, 'Can you do this?' He says, 'Yeah coach I got it, I know what to do.' As a coach, you have a lot of confidence and respect kids like that."

  • Stevens on TB Onterio McCalebb: ``It's hard trying to catch him but once you get him, you know he don't feel you because he's light. The problem is just catching him. If you catch him, you'll put something on him."

    STAGE TWO

  • Ted Roof on being physical vs. not getting injured: ``I think we've struck a pretty good balance, but we're not where we need to be yet from that standpoint. We're a work in progress there and that's something we have to continue to work on. And that's certainly a point of emphasis."

  • Roof said he has the defensive depth chart 91.3% finished. ``Things clear up, but there's different situations that come and go by packages. You don't want to ever have people feel like they don't have a chance to compete and earn playing time. We look at all the tape from all the kids, whether they're scouts or whoever, so that's something we keep a beat on."

  • Big Snacks Berry on Auburn's 2009 offense vs. its 2008 offense: ``It's more of a run offense. We're still running a fast tempo. Last year, we started off throwing the ball. Now we're straight down running the ball and then we'll take some shots (deep) on you."

  • Malzahn on Onterio McCalebb: ``He can be a one-play drive type guy if we can get him in the right situation."

  1. for letting the old one stay up just long enough for me to get the BEASLEY post!!!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Herring? Could he figure into the Auburn defensive plans???

    ReplyDelete
  3. you'll never see you beloved ice cream again

    ReplyDelete
  4. Wouldn't it be cool to see some dazzling success out of walk on players? That would make for a good story.

    ReplyDelete
  5. not sure I can trust that walk on, is he trying to fool us with his name backwards or something ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  6. I guess Herring could play.

I never hear anything about him.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I thought you had a language to learn...

    ReplyDelete
  8. JayGT - from whence came Mr. Christopher?

    ReplyDelete
  9. LOL THT You are SUCH a goob!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I looked back over the posts trying to find this, but couldn't. Who is the player who left the team, then came back as a walk on and has now left again?

    ReplyDelete
  11. If anymore "friendship bread" finds its' way to my house...there's gonna be trouble.

    Like a darn chain letter.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Monzie- io sto facenda molte cose in una volta.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Cincy, I think that's Rudy Odum?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Monica, don't ask about the barbed wire, puppets are involved. Check your in box please, another note on a brick thrown your way.

  16. That's just confusing.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Is "grrrr" Italian? I always thought it was lionese?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Herring & Christopher. man, having depth at linebacker is ausome.

good luck fellas. i would love another Jason Miska story. that dude was tough. bonus points for the guy who gets a part-time job at SubWay first!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. 2.0 - I'm not sure I can adequately translate "uh huh..." into Italian so I'll just give it to you Brewton style.

Ya know, 2, if your Dad wouldn't get angry with me I'd tell you about how I learned some Italian all in one weekend at the Naval docks in Pensacola.
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm currently fully bearded. It's super cool. However, today, someone asked me if I've been stressed out lately, then proceeded to point out how much gray I have in my beard. I'm in my 20s for G-d's sake! I may be shaving tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  21. So the depth chart is 91.3% set?

    not 91.4%?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I thought it was Rudy. I just watched a clip from Auburn's new show and it showed him graduating.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's only the defensive depth chart, D.Miller.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah... I just find the % humorous...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Scottie, don't bring up Subway.

    I'd love a six-inch Italian.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for offering, Scottie.

    ReplyDelete
  27. J-Z, I would like to know if there is anyone on here that has attained the rank (not have become rank) you know, been before the board to be reviewed. Some actually make me believe that they may have. Of course, in order to take such a poll, we would have to expose how we really know each other, you may not be for that. Come to think of it I should be the one not in favor of that. By the way, have you seen our extra large banker comrade in crime of late?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jay, that is an awful short Italian. Maybe 2.0 can bring you one upon her return. Do you prefer male or female?

    ReplyDelete
  29. no problem JG. i'm guessing someone didn't pack themselves a beat writer snack pack?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mon, please don't comment on Mr. Tate's Subway post.

IV, I think you, Gaines, and I may be the only ones.

    ReplyDelete
  31. IV, I saw LB last week. He's still large and in charge.

    ReplyDelete
  32. THT... may not have been. Jay ain't responding. Look for me soon on the quickest to get banhammered list.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I want to know about J-Z, IV, and the Fat Banker.....spill it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. And I think I've finally lost it. I just threw a NO DROPS up on Trooper Taylor's fb page.

    ReplyDelete
  35. J-Z... No doubt about large, but I bet wifey is still in charge. Odds?

    ReplyDelete
  36. J-Z, You may be 100% correct about you, me and G. R. however; it would be interesting to know. Not? I'll go with your call on this one but only this one.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Some of our more computer literate hotties need to start a wikipedia page for NO DROPS!

    ReplyDelete
  38. To satisfy IV's and my curiosity, are there any other Eagle Scouts who are Hotties?

    ReplyDelete
  39. IV - you're safe. JGT is just busy creating part deux of tonight's entertainment and Auburn Football enlightenment.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I came close. I left Scouts when we moved from Winston-Salem to Burlington. I had achieved the esteemed rank of Tenderfoot.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jay G,

Whats the deal w/ your newspaper? I'm working in the Gump this week and picked up the Advertiser to get my read on and on the front page a feature on a broom that stands up on its on- dazzling! Do the editors not realize football starts in 2 weeks and people would rather read AU or UA than a broom. But later in the day I overhear people under the age of 40 discussing the broom and WSFA does a story on it so what do i know.

    ReplyDelete
  42. ha, THT, we're practically brothers, i quit Scouts at the high rank of Tenderfoot. nice.

i rocked out Cub Scouts, though. i had every freakin' patch and bead you could get. Arrow of Light, CHECK!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My father-in-law, my hubby and my son are all Eagle Scouts. Does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Heck yeah...we know who did all the work.

    ReplyDelete
  45. We just made sure Tyler got his Eagle before cars and chicks came into the picture!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have a buddy who works for the Scouts and he said alot of the campouts turn into a mixer for parents to hook up. You're kids learning how to whittle and you're making out with someone who's not mom.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah...not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  48. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Okay, I am starting the Wade Christopher bandwagon. Who's with me?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm there, Steve.

Monica, so glad you went with google mail. Smart move!!!! :-D

    ReplyDelete
  51. I was offended by the swimming tests, so I quit.

    ReplyDelete
  52. sheesh I can tell I'm going to keep doing that

    ReplyDelete
  53. You mean for the stories stuff, THT?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Scout parent mixers....classic swinging in the woods. awesome!

Mon's on G-Mail now? We should gchat, so we can come back here and mention it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wade Christopher participated in two games in 2007, against South Florida and Tennessee Tech. That means he is experienced!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. yep.

I love almost all things Google, but especially my gmail, google docs, and calendar.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wade Christopher won the highest freshman GPA award, so he is obviously smart.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Earlier JGT said he'd love a 6" Italian.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... that's what she said.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Goodbye Atlanta Braves playoff chances, we hardly knew ya.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I've had a gmail for forever. That's how I sign in to this blog.

THT I love all Google apps too! They are blowing up!

    ReplyDelete
  61. THT, have you by chance made an AU football schedule calendar for the google cal? I subscribed to the one on icalshare, and it is supposedly linked to yahoo, but nothing is showing up...

    ReplyDelete
  62. And another thing...I love the TAPS guys on Ghost Hunters and I don't care who knows it. hmmmpph!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ummm, Wade Christopher has never been suspended from the team for punching a drunk in a hotel parking lot in the middle of the night!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. J-Z, I earned the cars and chicks merit badge along with the swing in the woods badge I know you earned cars and chicks because that was your final test when they had to use the jaws of life to get the girl out of the backseat of the VW.

    ReplyDelete
  65. ghost hunters and such gives me nightmares....actually, life gives me nightmares. my brain freaks the eff out when it processes and files my thoughts. I should stop reading the jibberish feed and Die Before You Die.

    ReplyDelete
  66. D.Miller - you've confused me with someone who has some techno skills. I just went to my google calendar and put all the games on it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. THT, you can share your Google calender. I think that's what he meant.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Only merit badges I've earned are alcohol and cheap women lead to bad decisions and a night in jail merit badge and how to use alcohol as a obnoxious social lubricant when you're 19 merit badge.

    ReplyDelete
  69. j-z had relations with a woman of size in the back of a VW?

    I love HABOTNafter-dark!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hey guys, I hope you didn't mind us asking the question about any of you being Eagle Scouts. We joke a lot, but this is something that is very serious to J-Z, myself and my number 2 son Gaines. We are very proud of that fact and that we are true Auburn men. Hey I am fired up, I want to hit somebody or maybe I had rather see an Auburn Tiger hit somebody. Is it kickoff time yet?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love TAPS Jay and Grant myself!

    ReplyDelete
  72. lmao @ "a woman of size"

Y'all are some fat chick hatin folks!

    ReplyDelete
  73. She was only slightly larger than a volkswagon. Well maybe twice the size.

    ReplyDelete
  74. That guy looks like the dude that played Sloth in Goonies..

    ReplyDelete
  75. If I were a "woman of size", I might be offended by all this talk. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Okay J-Z, it's you turn, I know I keep swinging with my chin. By the way I am going to Jawjah to see the Lions play are you?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Monica, one more note on a brick for you.

    ReplyDelete
  78. She was average sized...I however am 6'4"...the back seat of a VW bug was not really designed for that.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Thank you, Kristina! At least I feel a little validated in my offendedness. Yeah, I make up words too We fat chicks love doing stuff like that!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  80. count me in on the wade christopher wagon. if he has a pulse and can play LB we need him.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm not going to do a video tonight.

I hate pooping out on Les Hotties, but I'm not feeling it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Big girls are great.

    Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Big girls kick a$$ and sometimes don't even bother to take names.

    Cuz they're hungry.

    {Much love!}

    ReplyDelete
  84. Did anyone say anything about fat chicks? I sure didn't. Sweet pretty, smart, beautiful HABOTN, chicks is all I ever talk about. When Mrs IV ain't around that is.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Mon, the only talk going on here is about love for beautiful women of size (well, j-z's love, anyway). the hate is only towards bama....besides, Jay G warned once that all hotties are created equal.

    ReplyDelete
  86. in Auburn we were bored one night sitting around at Champs having brews. We played the game "Whaling" Everyone contributes to the pot and the guy that makes out with the "biggest" girl of the evening gets the pot. Southpaw beer contributed to this completely idiotic idea. There was a run on big girls that evening however and we made them feel pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Big girls are great but you prefer 6" Italians?

    ReplyDelete
  88. If he has a pulse, you'll need a vet to find it..

Christopher looks like he should be hollering "Baby Ruuuuth" under a house somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous8:53 PM

Idiotic isn't the term I'd use.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Let's stop this train here.

I used to weigh 315. While I'm not a female, I was (and am) very sensitive about my weight. I am not alone here.

    Moratorium on weight discussion.

    Let's move on.

    ReplyDelete
  91. whattup Greg! long time bro.

big girls. that was where i missed the boat. dang all you skinny girls!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I will crush you like a 90 mph fastball to Cecil Fielder (1990 version) if you don't abide.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Does that mean we can still talk about 6" Italians?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Did I mention I really like Ghost Hunters?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous8:58 PM

    What's Ghost Hunters, Monica?

    ReplyDelete
  96. speaking of crushing, the Braves blew a 3-0 lead. horrid. i shouldn't be suprised. Kawakami was pitching.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Luv - what on earth are you doing up so late?

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'd take anything from Subway right about now.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hey Luv :-)

It's a show on SyFy channel and they investigate paranormal activity. It's quite fun!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Monnie, finally you found a show you can watch with mrs. scottie. she absolutely loves it. she usually watches it on wednesdays when i'm at work. it's not for me. snooze.

Eddie/Sensi, i tried to listen to your show but couldn't get any audio to work. i'll catch it tomorrow on itunes. bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Anonymous9:00 PM

Tar Heel, you're right. It's bedtime. 3:20 comes early.

    ReplyDelete
  102. While I agree with JGT... I am intrigued by the height issue...
a 6" Italian is awfully short...

    That's pocket sized...

    ReplyDelete
  103. so 6" Italians? No Al Del Greco talk?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yes sir, Mr. Tate.

I was just kiddin' around and didn't mean to offend anyone.

Wade looks to be a great young guy with a lot of potential (I hope he can be durable though)

    ReplyDelete
  105. 9-4 in the 8th. Wow, just wow.

On a brighter note I'm finally getting to see the Jeopardy clip Mihclea posted earlier. Except that the connection is super slow and its taking forever to buffer

Yes I said its taking forever to buffer

    ReplyDelete
  106. It's crazy how much shenanigans one can miss in a day or two of madness. Y'all have made my day.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Christopher has been on the scout team for how long now? I think he can take a pounding...

    ReplyDelete
  108. With the advent of football the mediocrity known as Braves baseball will soon be in the rearview mirror. Here's hoping they're better next year.

    ReplyDelete
  109. By the way - has anyone received the cap they ordered yet?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Something Italian?

    I'd like a gelato.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Luv are you still here?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Anonymous9:04 PM

Monica, get on yahoo chat now!

    ReplyDelete
  113. MrsTHT has the remote tonight. "We" are watching House Hunters International on HGTV. Folks are looking for a place to buy in Capri. I just hope 2.0 doesn't get any ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I love Shennanigans. Like on Super Troopers when the next person who says Shenanigans is gonna get pistol whipped.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I apologize. When I hear 6" Italian, I don't think of a sub sandwich, but I'm a dirty middle aged man

    ReplyDelete
  116. Pistachio Gelato is the BEST

    ReplyDelete
  117. Scottie- Thanks for trying, check it out later.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I like pistachios, and I think I like gelato... but I'm not sure I would like pistachio gelato...

    ReplyDelete
  119. THT- thanks, the tv guide said it was in Bali.... Capri is the most amazing place

    ReplyDelete
  120. Is everyone else drinking while they are on here too? Since last season anytime I think Auburn football I end up drinking.

    ReplyDelete
  121. IV,
Yes, I am also very proud of my three Eagle Scouts, and all three are AU grads, too. Well, my FIL is an API grad and my son will hopefully be an AU grad in May.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Craig Miller has the HARDHATS workin. Yes sir. Sen'Derrick Marks would be proud.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Did Christopher ever reach Eagle before he moved off the Scout team?

    ReplyDelete
  124. I'd never drink during a campfire.

    ReplyDelete
  125. only Diet Coke, Craig, but I don't have to think about Auburn to pop open another DC

    ReplyDelete
  126. Not sure if this is common knowledge yet

    RB Brown cleared

    ReplyDelete
  127. Jay G ...

Would you submit to a polygraph on that?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Jay G, you aren't fibbing are you?

    ReplyDelete
  129. The Braves are KILLING me!

    ReplyDelete
  130. Thought I'd get with the program and get a picture that corresponds with my colors. Jay G you see my post earlier about whats the deal with the Advertiser doing a feature story on the front page about a stand alone broom. Does September 5th mean anything to your editors?

    ReplyDelete
  131. speaking of campfire... can we plan a pre-season kickoff campfire for next thursday or friday evening?

wouldn't want to not drink during a campfire during the daytime...

    ReplyDelete
  132. So Luv you got me over here on Yahoo and you're leaving me hanging.

    Cold blooded.

    ReplyDelete
  133. D Miller are we related? Of course my name isn't really Miller but we think alot alike on some things. Like Randy Campbells wife is a stone cold fox.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Anonymous9:17 PM

For those up super early, you can catch me on a special college football preview edition of The Wake-Up Call on WTLS Thursday morning from 6:30 am til 8 am.

Should be a major fun time.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Anonymous9:20 PM

Technical difficulties, Monica! I'm on now!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Possibly... not sure I know of any relatives named Craig... and I can't say for certain if my last name is Miller... might be, can't remember...

You are correct though... stoned fox...

    ReplyDelete
  137. I feel left out, luv... it's not nice to whisper behind people's backs...

    ReplyDelete
  138. As cool as the AU hard hats look fans shouldn't wear them to games. Kinda like the grown man in a jersey. After the age of 12 you're just a tool. That also goes for body painting yourself if you are over 25 (unless you are on the Auburn 8 year plan) I hate gimmicks like hard hats and that Virginia Tech coach a few years ago with his lunch pale for his defense- LAME

    ReplyDelete
  139. Anyone got their caps yet?

    ReplyDelete
  140. I'll bet you'll be wearin' it, the next time you're drankin' during a campfire, Jay G.!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Other than Mr JG Tate, has anyone got the HABOTN caps they ordered?

    ReplyDelete
  142. So... you're trying to say that, IF I painted my chest and wore nothing but a jersey and a hardhat to the games I wouldn't be cool?

    ReplyDelete
  143. yay yay yay yay
i'm going to the wvu game
    woot

    ReplyDelete
  144. Craig: Bud, I have no clue about the Advertiser's decision-making.

I just do my Auburn thing and suspend my disbelief about anything else.

I will swear this is true: I haven't had a sip of alcohol since mid April. Nothing.

You ever have one of those hangovers where you promise yourself that you'll never go through that again? I had one of those. And I'm keeping to the promise.

    ReplyDelete
  145. So anyone in Woodmere can roll by my pad, when I say it's OK, and have my (very cold) stash of Yuengling Black & Tan.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm the only bloggist that gives back.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Anonymous9:30 PM

    D. Miller, sorry! Monica will be attending the WVU game!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Anonymous9:31 PM

We have two extra tix and I finally found out that the people we get them for aren't coming to that game. I told Monica she could have them.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Jay G, keep doing your thing. Love the Advertiser sports section. I don't read the Alabama stuff but all your work is great and pick up a copy when I work up here. Also ya'll really do a good job covering prep sports.

And yes I had one of those hangovers. AU/LSU game this year and a open bar tab wifes uncles bar. White rum to dark rum is no fun. So i swore off the strong stuff and just enjoy my beers. Beer- its goes great with HABOTN! Or Beer- try pairing it with HABOTN!

    ReplyDelete
  150. Have I mentioned that I am looking for a ticket to the WV game? It just so happens to be the day before my birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  151. anybody? HABOTN caps? No?

    ReplyDelete
  152. That's right, Luv and Monica @ the WVU game together. A lil Flair in Jordan Hare!

    ReplyDelete
  153. DMiller ... you impugned my leadership because I hadn't entered the pick 'em contest.

Well, I am officially in. So the rest of you are assured of not finishing last.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Tommy

I think it's safe to assume that nobody reading this has gotten their cap!!!

    ReplyDelete
  155. If you haven't drank since April wouldn't your Yeungling B&T be out of date?

Jay G any chance of you ever replacing Randy Kennedy and coming to Mobile to be editor of the Mobile PR? Love to be able to read your stuff daily. (other than here)

    ReplyDelete
  156. asjifasdoij afoijeioj2930ej jvj

    ReplyDelete
  157. Monica ...

    Congrats on winning the lottery.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Cincy, You don't know how much I would love to say that I am an A.P.I. grad or grad from anywhere for that matter. Of course, that would have been impossible unless I was some sort of genius. Started at A.P.I. fall of '57, ran out of gas spring of '59. The name was changed in 1959 if I remember correctly. Today, Jet was doing one line of the alma mater per post. When he got to "proudly stands our alma mater" I by force of habit said A.P.I. as the next line. I still sing the original version, you don't want to hear that, pure punishment, at the homecoming games when I can make it and I am sober. I drink alot when I get away from the home.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I have added STAGE TWO to tonight's notes package.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Monica & Luv,
You must come by our tailgate at the WVU game. We set up behind Miller Hall (on the Dormitory Dr side).

    ReplyDelete
  161. Stage 2 news up.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Apologies Mr. Jet... I had to get your attention somehow.
Glad to see you joined the fray.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Craig: I still love me B&T and, um, do what it takes to make it happy and fresh.

On that note, I'm headed back to Montgomery for the night.

    See you in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Competing with "the man" is a losing battle.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Safe travels to "the man".

    ReplyDelete
  166. Malzahn: "McCalebb can be a one-play drive kind of guy."

    Jet: "So is Caudle."

    ReplyDelete
  167. umm.... weird...

    ReplyDelete
  168. Thanks for the assist there MonD!

    ReplyDelete
  169. You bettcha.

Just ask, Scottie if he's sent it to you, honey bunny.

    ReplyDelete
