Two housekeeping items

Hey everyone. Here are two items of interest. They didn't deserve a full blog on their own, but together they deserve more than a mention in the comments.

A.) BB&T, which absorbed Colonial Bank, has signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with Auburn. Here is what I received in the inbox:
BB&T Corporation (NYSE: BBT) announced today it will become the retail banking partner in three Auburn University athletic venues, including Jordan-Hare Stadium, through an agreement with the Auburn ISP Sports Network. It is the first major sports marketing agreement for BB&T in Alabama.

B.) The Southeastern Conference has issued its "final" credential policy for the 2009 season. It includes changes that my parent company, Gannett, considers positive. Those changes include additional flexibility in internet news coverage, uses of photographic images and clarification in the provisions of blogging.

I am now cleared to accept credentials and cover games. This is good.

  1. SO now that you have credentials, wht changes should we expect on this blog?

    ReplyDelete
  3. This is totally OT but here is a feel good story...

    Finally Winners

    ReplyDelete
  4. Way to flex your muscle, Gannett!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Wonderful news Jay. I knew they wouldn't pull Jay G. this early in the season. He is just too valuable to the team.

    ReplyDelete
  6. DL- Nice to see you back in form.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Way to go DL!!! Now we're ready for some football!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Care to elaborate on the changes?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I like BB&T. Over my years with sate and national level non profit's, I did business with their marketing and sponsorship people. My opinion has been that they are a good company with a healthy, socially responsible corporate culture. I hope this will be a good partnership with Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  10. So you will be able to live blog during the game like last year?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thanks for the great story, FSJ. Football can be very beneficial to a community such as this. It brings everyone together and offers hope. I lived in a small NC town, I know.

I know nothing about the business/banking world. What does this mean exactly. Please put it in terms my feeble mind can understand.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anonymous12:43 PM

Why was the SEC so reluctant to include provisions for "new media" as a part of the credentialing process?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous12:44 PM

    and I'm talking about this:

retail banking partner in three Auburn University athletic venues, including Jordan-Hare Stadium

    ReplyDelete
  15. Luv, it means the Auburn Network has a sponsor, if I read correctly. Somebody has to pay the bills.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I take it to mean that everywhere you previously saw Colonial in those venues, you will now see BB&T. That is the first step in the right direction for me.

    ReplyDelete
  17. They'll have the logo all over the place, the radio program may say brought to you by BB&T, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anonymous12:50 PM

Uhm, did I just hear that Doug Amos is leaving WMSP's Roundtable?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anonymous12:51 PM

Anyone have any idea how much they pay Auburn to have their logo all over the place?

    ReplyDelete
  20. BB&T was also the bank who refused to lend money to developers who were taking over folks property via eminent domain to build hotels and such. That made me like them too.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous12:54 PM

Eddie, I take it you weren't a big fan of Colonial?

    ReplyDelete
  22. So tweet, blog, and snapshot at your leisure, eh? Glad to hear that you'll have something to fill your Saturdays, Jay.

I'm glad they listened to reason, even if it was social networking reason (which may be an oxymoron).

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous12:55 PM

    Good for them, Monica!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I wonder if they have to say how much the sponsorship is costing them? I don't think they would have to spell it out specifically. I don't think...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Luv- Not a fan at all. Had an account there and they screwed it up every which way more than once.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous1:01 PM

    Chizik makes another confusing comment.

    Is it just me?

While it might be beneficial from a depth standpoint, the partial-contact practices haven't necessarily helped the team establish the physical brand of football it aims to play.

"I don't know exactly where we are in that department," Chizik said Tuesday. "But I feel good with where we're at."

    ReplyDelete
  27. THT - There's an ice cream party at my office at 4:00 for some of the board members.

    You're invited.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "I am now cleared to accept credentials and cover games. This is good."

Jay for us Hotties....This is great! Keep up the awesome work!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Doug is leaving the roundtable????

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think he meant he just won't be doing the show tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Darn...you guys had my hopes up for a minute.

    I hate pants.

    That is all

    ReplyDelete
  32. JZ- No pants equals terrible show. Sorry, but Bags struggles to hold the show together when Doug is not there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. You misinterpreted...I wish they were both off the air and Mr. Tate was on solo in that time slot.

The pants thing means, literally, I hate pants.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Great, now Camtasia doesn't even wanna work right for me...I have somehow sincerely angered the computer gods today.

    ReplyDelete
  35. From the prior thread RE: Mon's bammer fb friend. I've found that heaving flaming bags of poo at someone tends to deliver the appropriate message in these situations.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You're not tipping her enough.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So who wants some fresh yellowfin for dinner?? It's all over the place down here.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Camtasia? Are you doing the whole webcam girl thing again?

    ReplyDelete
  39. OK, I'm back ... but I have to take Mrs. Jet to the doc.

Eddie, I'm witcha ... Livin' On a Prayer needs to go. But they can keep playin' Word Up! forevah!

"Socially responsible bank?" Does that mean the management wears condoms?

    Later taters!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Monica, if all else fails, my old standby is swift and blinding violence.

    ReplyDelete
  41. No, that means they're all Democrats.

    NO SHE DIDN'T!

    ReplyDelete
  42. You can do that with Camtasia?? Shoot I was just using it to make an mp3 from a .wmv file.....sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Will that be available for download, and if so, what will it set me back?

    ReplyDelete
  44. note to self: if you have any BB&T stock... SELL

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous1:22 PM

    Thanks for the clarification, Monica.

Doug is just taking a day off - I must have misheard that.

On a side note, Living on a Prayer is like Live to Punt - something some dumba said that should have been forgotten long ago.

    ReplyDelete
  46. dumba? You speaking Italian now too Sensi? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Living On a Prayer = SUCKTACULAR

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous1:23 PM

Speaking of downloadables - download the Auburn Football Insider Podcast for FREE on ITunes.

Now back to your regularly scheduled posting.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous1:24 PM

I meant dumb a but forgot to hit that space bar thingy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. i used to listen to my Born to Run casette tape on the drive over to intramurals. Any tunes from that would be peachy.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes, i've found some support in my get rid of "Livin' on a Prayer" movement.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Speaking of bon jovi, isaw bon jovi in high school. My buddy had his lighter out for every note of "never say goodbye". Upon the song ending he let out a hearty "whooo" and reached to scratch his face and in a yelp i can still hear this day he sticks the backside of the lighter under his eye giving himself an awesome horseshoe burn under his right eye. I laugh everytime i hear bon jovi because it all circles back to that moment for me.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I voted to ban that douche of a song the night that "Kicker on a Stick" was born.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Don't care for the Living on a prayer message, but I like the tune. Kind of like when we used to play all I need is a miracle. Always thought that that didn't send the right message. Ofcourse we changed the lyrics to all I need is a Michelob which was a great message to send during the game.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Well what do y'all think about them playing Sweet Caroline?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think the whole stadium should sing Jan Terri's "Losing You" instead of Living on a Prayer.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Eddie & Sensi,

    Great show last night!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I haven't seen much support for my James Taylor movement.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I with you Hot-n-tots on the ban "living on a prayer" wagon. Although is was quite appropriate last year.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Kristina -- umm no offense to all the Sawx fans out there, but no.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Eddie & Sensi, thanks for all the Todd love on the insider. I haven't listened to the entire show, but I like the positive message.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I suppose Onward Christian Soldiers wouldn't fly?

    ReplyDelete
  63. not even when we're playing the infidels?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think Get Down Goblin is more catchy, says "Saturday" to me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. mytommy, I wasn't suggesting it. The band played it a lot last year Red Sox style. Was curious what people thought about that.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hmmm, how about "We're not gonna take it" by Twisted Sister.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Throw in a little "War Machine" by KISS.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I agree Jay, but it's Halloween themes might not be suitable for the entire season.

Maybe a different Jan Terri song each month is in order.

    ReplyDelete
  69. How about "Bulls on Parade" for when Eltoro walks into the stadium?

    ReplyDelete
  70. In preparation for the upcoming season, I got a copy of a wav of Jim Fyffe going "Touchdown Auburn"!!! I highly recommend everyone get a copy. Hopefully I will be playing it a lot in a little over a week.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I will second "Get Down Goblin" if they'll put that awesome video on the bigscreen.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Touchdown Auburn ring tone. Cannot be beat.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Check it.

Be sure to read the caption under Charlie Manson.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Rk & Steve- Thanks for listening!

    ReplyDelete
  75. ehyou - the remnants of shirts on those guys is the funniest part to me. I'm sure they were Bama shirts, even though you can't tell in the pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I've seen people walk into the Swamp with shirts like that on. That's too close to call.

    ReplyDelete
  77. +1 for Get Down Goblin!

    ReplyDelete
  78. "Sweet Caroline" is a good drinkin song...but I don't think it's football appropriate. "Living on a Prayer" is most definitely not football apropriate...But I do like the band's rendition of "Word up!"

    ReplyDelete
  79. I have a mp3 of a Jim Fyffe "TD Auburn"... I used it as the SMS notification on my blackberry, but now it just sits on my iphone wishing to be used...
    If only...

    ReplyDelete
  80. ehyou just ruined the productivity of my entire office for the afternoon as we split up the Wal-marts in metro bammerham to see what we could find....thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anonymous2:19 PM

    I need chocolate...

    ReplyDelete
  82. Man...I missed the first 20 minutes of the Die Bammer Die hour.

Let the hate and violence commence.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Kristina, I had no idea that our band planned that. I guess they were on the Sawx bandwagon too for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Big Bird - can't wait to see that! Those other photos will be put to shame. Let everyone know when you have some available for viewing.

    ReplyDelete
  85. what is get down goblin?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Dmiller is sentenced to 2 hours of Jan Terri videos on youtube.

    ReplyDelete
  87. If only chocolate could be sent via e-mail. I would hook y'all up.

    ReplyDelete
  88. And we would keep you busy Scott Choc

    ReplyDelete
  89. Maybe Michael can get Jan Terri in on the no-shaving thing.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anonymous2:29 PM

I am still looking for chocolate around the office. This may require a trip to the bookstore...

    ReplyDelete
  91. No shaving? What's that all about? Jan Terri is a lady who will be hard to convince to give up any of her current hygiene measures.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Oh my, if you click on "about us" on the people of wal-mart site, you'll get a treat. I laughed so hard no sound came out for a while.

I would have taken photos for free but they are giving away $100 for the best photo of every month! whoohoo!

    ReplyDelete
  93. DMiller...
Youtube it and prepare to be entertained.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  106. Maybe I'm the idiot. I can't get your link to work. What am I missing out on?

    ReplyDelete
  107. But it's a REALLY long tune j-z

    ReplyDelete
  108. Ah, I was going for the straight up Rick Roll but then after I posted, Monica had her bit about Rick Roll Jan-Terri style...basically, FAIL.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Don't follow Michael's links, don't follow Michael's links, don't follow....dang!!!! did it again!!!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Another great one:

    www.lamebook.com

Has really funny facebook entries. A must read. And read like 5 pages of it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. And now everyone is reading lamebook... or the puppets have them...

    ReplyDelete
  112. c'mon people - i need some entertainment

    ReplyDelete

  114. Are brown recluse spider bites bad? Just askin'.

    ReplyDelete
  115. congrats on the puppy adoption Monnie. great news.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Like the UGA pic at the bottom of page1, Michael. Really that explains a lot, about the school my son is now going to ... great.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Mchuela, speaking of being captured by puppets...how was the sale at Penny's?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Isn't that awesome, Scottie! thanks

    ReplyDelete
  119. I was all prepared for mr wvu and he left. loser

    ReplyDelete
  122. i started sketching a new painting out last nite Monnie. i'll keep you updated.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Why do I get the feeling 2.0 is lurking around here somewhere?

    ReplyDelete
  124. ooooo what's it going to be?

    ReplyDelete
  125. ehyou - I've tried to resist telling you this, but your new profile pic makes me HAWT!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Oh, Kristeenuh, it was alright. I already had most of the dress socks on sale. It was a bit of a waste of time. But you know me, when I hear there is a sale, I run right to it.

How did you escape the puppets, Kreestinuh? Do you still have both hands?

    ReplyDelete
  127. ehyou's pic is such a hottie. makes me want to listen to Strawberry Fields over & over & over.

Mon, he wore #16 and his initials are D.C. ssshhhhh.....

    ReplyDelete
  128. Wow, I didn't know the womenzes liked the porkchops thing. Gonna have to re-evaluate.

    ReplyDelete
  129. i like it when you talk super duper secret code - can't wait to see it

    ReplyDelete
  130. j-z - she says she hasn't been lurking for the past couple of hours; busy getting ready for her trip (hopefully)

    ReplyDelete
  131. Don't resist Mon. The fu manchu has that effect of the ladies.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Rest easy ehyou. You pick doesn't make me hawt.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Steve, you're a heartbreaker.

    ReplyDelete
  134. j-z was only hoping she was lurking...

    ReplyDelete
  135. Weather likely to impact practice today.

    ReplyDelete
  136. True Frosh, Matt Barkley, has been named starting QB for SoCal Condoms.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Yes, I still have both hands. No thanks to you.

THT, tell 2.0 thanks for being willing to contract puppetitis for me. I know who has my back now.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Kristeenuh, you can't make me feel guilty. I clearly stated that if I wasn't busy, I would have helped you. What more do you want from me?!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Eurasia is dead to me. You're like France!

    ReplyDelete
  140. ouch...

She could have at least said Luxembourg

    ReplyDelete
  141. OHHHH NO!!! WE HAVE LOST THE SUPPORT OF KRISTEEENUHH! OH HEAVENS! I AM SO SCARED! HOW SHALL OUR STATE SURVIVE??!!!

Oh wait, we're effin Eurasia. We stand alone on our own awesomeness. Never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I have it on a very reliable source Eurasia is harboring puppets and WMD and that it's nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only

    ReplyDelete
  143. You know, Eurasia's number one business is Awesomeness. Do you know what the second biggest money generator is? Antacid manufacturing. Awesomeness is awesome, but it gives you terrible heartburn.

    ReplyDelete
  144. ehyou,

Just catching up with earlier posts. Your Walmart site had me rolling.

.....but what were you looking for exactly when you stumbled on that site?????

I could fill up that site from our local Walmart! We've got some real lookers over here in east Georgia.

    ReplyDelete
  145. If by "harboring puppets" you mean drowning puppets by the harbor in Eurasia Bay, then your statement would be accurate.

    ReplyDelete
  146. yes, I do believe he was hoping, D. Miller ;-) wink wink

    ReplyDelete
  147. Excellent Auburn Insider show, but I disagree about the fans influence on who wins the game. I am convinced it is my intensity staring at the TV that determines whether Auburn wins or loses. Of course, it is just a theory.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Anonymous3:57 PM

    Thanks, Steve.

    ReplyDelete
  149. did ya get it, sensi?

    ReplyDelete
  150. hmm seems i left off a few quote marks....ah blast, too busy to make a coherent post.

    back to the grind

    A dopo tutti!

    ReplyDelete
  151. The running game thing is going to be interesting. While we will do power running, it will be mixed in with misdirection and the option.

    ReplyDelete
  152. "A dopo tutti" is Italian for "A dope just farted"

    ReplyDelete
  153. Anonymous4:00 PM

    Still searching, Mon.

It's like a conspiracy to keep chocolate from me.

    Damn The Man.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Monica ...

The video and the music rocked.

    ReplyDelete
  155. By the way, due to Wade Christopher, I now predict Auburn coming in second in the West.

    ReplyDelete
  156. People knock unrealistic expectations, but I choose to believe in them.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Anonymous4:11 PM

    Jay G.,

People knock unrealistic expectations, but I choose to believe in them. - SteveFC

That should be the front quote. It's much more apropos as we near season start.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I had high expectations for last year ... a few weeks into the season, I needed an expectorant.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I think the front quote should be mundane for once. You know, reward mediocrity. Maybe make Steve's earlier quote, "The running game thing is going to be interesting" the headliner. Kind of like a 6-6 team going to a bowl game (like Auburn might be this year)

    ReplyDelete
  160. Gotta love the far east...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5V-2PPa4fQ

    ReplyDelete
  161. Can't we just keep a pic of Randy
Campbell's wife where we currently keep the front page quotes?

    ReplyDelete
  162. But Michael, you must look at the positive side. We might go 6-6, but we could do the Bama thing and claim the national title anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Jet I"m so glad you liked it!

Sensi - I'd help you out if I could.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Boy, puppet hour is really slow. I think I'm just going to eat that forbidden doughnut in the fridge.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Randy outkicked his coverage when he met Mrs. Campbell to be sure.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Good evening hot ones

Alive and kicking and 'good' busy.

    War Eagle.
