you think Meyer or Saban cares about blogger being down? you just get in there and do what you need to do! full speed every play, every drill, every post. ;)
How could you have a good feeling about Todd after watching him screw up passes that my 14 year old niece can make. yeah yeah blah blah bad shoulder....we shall see soon enough if he has what it takes.
And my money says he doesnt and neither does kodi.
I am looking forward to Bentons first TD catch. This guy is gonna be a huge player for us I think.Stallworth also, If you remember ESPN said Stallworth was our best recruit.
What a great interview Trooper Taylor is. I don't remember seeing a whole lot of position coach interviews the last few years. Trooper is just that good.
Today is the second time this summer that I've had to watch a USA-Mexico soccer match in Espanol because none of the English channels on my cable are carrying it. I'm about to start chanting things like "close our darn borders" if this problem isn't corrected. Oh, and I'll be shooting myself for watching soccer simply for nationalistic (fascist) pride. USA, USA, USA!
Personally, I hope when the first AU receiver runs an 8-yard pattern on 3rd and 9 that Trooper pries the first down marker out of the official's hands and stabs the offending receiver with it.
Make it to the Stick or the Stick will make it to you!
Well hoopie, We have seen Todd and Burns take the test and fail miserably. I would rather give a test to someone that might pass it rather than give it over and over again to a D student. You know what your goin to get with Todd an Burns....nothing.
I just dont see why some of you want Todd to start, the kid cant get it done.
We are most likely gonna suck this year anyway so why not give caudle(a jr) or Rollison the reigns and get them experience for the future instead of letting Tony Todd throw ducks all year and then be right back where we are know next season?
I kind of lean toward Caudle but everyone seems to say Todd's arm strength is back. He did make some decent decisions last year but he tended to hold the ball too long.
Hmmm, Nooj...where you around when everyone said Jason Campbell sucked and couldn't get it done? I was. I'm not cheering for anyone in particular to win the job this year. I just don't know how you know with such certainty that Rollison or Caudle is the answer.
None of them are Mr. Anything and they have proved this time and again.
Im no expert but I do know that Rollison is in a whole other league as far as upside and talent than all the rest combined.
So.....I expect to see Neil or Rollison play most of our games.
Why play Todd....he certainly has not seperated himself from the rest like you say about neil and at least neil has 2 more years. Caudle or Rollison=prepare for the future.
The exciting thing is, no matter who is QB, the OL has beefed up and experienced and we have some receivers that look to be capable. That's a big + from last yr.
Not to mention I could go the rest of my life without seeing TOdd run the QB option handoff thingy with a straight face and act like he is a threat to keep the ball! That was painful.
"Im no expert but I do know that Rollison is in a whole other league as far as upside"
Rewind 365 days, replace Rollison with Burns. Same story, different name.
Your comments on Todd are based on a guy who had shoulder issues last year. Are they fixed? Who knows? However while you are saying you are no expert, you are posting as if you know how everything will play out.
Until proven wrong, I'll trust that this staff knows who the right guy will be and that person will get a chance to prove it on the field. Right now we don't know what we have with any QB except for maybe Burns since we've seen him play while he was healthy and that's not too impressive.
Do we have any walkon QBs? if so, I expect one of them to emerge as a star around the TN game, earn the starting spot, and retain it the rest of the year.
If this coaching staff thinks that Rollison is ready ( age : 17 ) and strong enough ( height 6 ft 2, weight 185 lbs ) to face SEC defenses behind our OL, they will put him in play.
If they think it might be like throwing him to wolves, they won't. I am sure coaches would keep that in consideration, lest he hurts himself because he tries too hard and is not ready for it.
Gov't Mule returns to one of its favorite venues - The Tower Theatre in Upper Darby (Philadelphia), PA on Saturday October 31st. Following in the tradition of 2007's "Holy Haunted House" and last year's Pink Floyd spectacular, the band, once again, has something very special planned for the occasion.
I think JGT is referring to misspellings (Rollinson vs. Rollison), not who is starting. If so, JGT, just be glad Blake Field(s) is not around to be one of the contenders.
I say start Rollison is we plan to run an 80/20 run/pass offense. Otherwise, we run the risk of getting the young fella hurt physically and crushing his confidence early. Ease him into his role. Give these coaches time to build up depth at OL to give him the tools to succeed.
I wish Gov't Mule would do one of their Halloween shows somewhere close.
I wonder what band/album they will pick this year to cover? I have the CD of the show two years ago where they do Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" and that was very nice.
I'm just saying ... Auburn fans should know how to spell their most talented quarterback's name correctly. He's new so you're still within the grace period, but time is a-wastin'.
I'm pulling cards if I see the head coach referred to as CHIZNIK around here.
They brought him in at QB a lot early on ('81 or so) and I believe that's what he was considered at the time. Regardless of that, if he did come in, you always knew he was going to run around right or left end.
i find it comical how some are saying rollison is clearly the best or most talented. Im sorry, but have you guys been able to see video that to date no one else but the coaches have seen? pure speculation based on no factual evidence.
furthermore, if we are about to redshirt a few older receivers so we can play our freshmen, then we are really going to suck. after 4 days of practice, our 17 yr olds are that good? I think that says a lot about whats on the field right now more than how good our freshmen are.
Nooj, assuming an injured Todd plays like a healthy Todd doesn't make a lot of sense. He looked very good early. Todd's situation has definitely changed with the surgery so it is to be seen how he plays. It was clear he made good decisions last season, even when he couldn't make the throws.
I do believe a healthy Kodi would look like a healthy Kodi though.
ill agree with that war. not saying what we have is great, but we dont really KNOW just yet. we better hope that we only have to play a few young guys.
Big Cat made the best point here. I have no problem with Rollison playing, but bringing him along slowly just like Meyer did Tebow makes much better sense. Remember when Tebow was behind Leak? Who was the most talented? You go with experience.
Todd has shown good decision making ability which is more important than passing or running ability. It is what I look for in a QB. This is not just my opinion. Malzahn has said he is impressed with Todd's knowledge of the game.
Todd's shoulder is different, so you cannot judge his passing based upon last season. We will see how it goes. He is they guy that nearly beat our Graham Harrell. There was a large contingent of the Texas Tech fans that favored Todd.
If Rollison were to start the first game I would assume that Chizik is counting this as a rebuilding year. I am not ready to count this team out yet.
the big negative about todd is that we start over again next year. i am ok with that, but it may be better long term to put a guy in that will at least give you two years.
Sponge, unfortunately, the game I remember best from that year was the IB, with the Bahr getting number 315 against. All year long I had been afraid it would be against us, and d*%# if it wasn't. At least we gave them a good game. Seems like we were up at halftime and maybe even later in the game. Anyhoo, I do have decent memories of beating Florida that year. We also beat LSU, but I don't remember that very well. I guess 'cause they weren't a big rival back then.
recall that last year, todd wouldnt let go of the ball. held it way too long. hopefully that was because he knew he couldnt make the throws but just sayin.
Sponge, I agree. It is very important this season that we get some experience for someone other than Todd. It will also help him in terms of not getting beat up. There have been too many games where we could have gotten a backup QB experience and didn't.
Burns as the wild cat QB wouldn't make a lot of sense unless he is going to play another position. One of the keys to the wildcat is that the QB becomes another receiver which the defense must cover and you basically have another runner as the QB.
scott. i dont remember a lot of those games. probably more due to the rum and coke, the standard drink of the day in 81. i believe we gave uat a good game until bear put linnie patrick in after halftime. wasnt his first touch about a 50 yard td run. anyway, i think that was the game.
Rollison will play this year. I know I started the Rollison Express, (Thanks Nooj for purchasing your general cabin seat Ticket), but I would really like to see him play significant snaps each and every game and ease his way into the starting roll. I do think he will start a game this fall.
Unless Burns were in the offense regularly at another position, him coming into the game would be a signal that we were going to run the wildcat. It would harken back to the days of Baby Bowden when anytime we went into the shotgun meant we were going to throw. It could have been more obvious if they put it on the jumbo tron, but I think every opponent already new it, so it was pointless.
i hope he is that good eddie. just need to see it myself before declaring him defacto starter. If he is as talented as some say, he may very well be the best long term solution. sure wish trotter hadnt gotten hurt.
Eddie, I am with you on this. I would even like to see Malzahn tell whoever the starter is that Rollison will come in and lead a series or two. It doesn't mean they are changing QBs. It just means they want an experienced backup.
Spongeworthy- I'm declaring him defacto starter, i'm just saying he will play and I have it from 2 pretty good sources that indicate that, and one has done so since the Spring Practice concluded. I just hope they work him in and get him reps slowly.
disappointing loss in azteca today. really wanted that one. i would lean towards todd starting. if his shoulder hasn't improved, they should be wasting practice time on him.
My head is about to explode from wondering who will be the starter at QB I wish the coaches would give us a riddle that, when we figured it out, would contain a clue as to who they might leaning towards
Sponge, you may not see this, but I had to youtube that '81 IB. We were up 17-14 with about 12 minutes left in the 4th. Bendross and Patrick killed us after that. Btw, Lionel James. George Peoples and Al Del Greco accounted for AU's points.
Just a thought, but maybe the coaches know who the starter is going to be(Todd IMO) and by playing the two freshmen, were actually looking to see how Rollison handled things for more than a few snaps in a row.
I think it is Todd and then Rollison as #2 and Rollison will play a good but by the end of the 4th game and could possibly be the starter by the end of the season. You know, just use Todd t oget you through the early part of the season and give Rollison some playing time as the season progresses and then we have someone with experience for 2010.
I still say kodi sees the field in the slot, that's about it for him. I think it's todd or caudle, if tyrik beats them out, good for him, i hope he wins em all. Destin trip sucked, rained about an hour into our water parkin so we went to the gulfarium and watched the dophins jump and stuff, kiddo had a great time, that's what it was all about.
ehyou- We should hope so. On a non-QB note, it sounds like Onterio McCaleb is tearing it up this fall. I wonder just how big his role will be this fall.
I'm hearing reports that Tyrik did look the best yesterday. This QB race is going to be darn interesting. I look forward to the year that we don't wonder who the QB will be and hopefully that year is next year!
when was the practice tonight? but growing up around my dad as a football coach i know things in football practice arent always on time, especially afterwards
Is there a worse movie than Smoky and the Bandit 3, its on one of the HBO channels and its sooo bad even Burt REynolds turned it down, he only makes a 1 minute cameo
In the video, does K Burns come off like he is defeated. It sounds like he is whining a bit with the, it's tough to get a rhythm, blah, blah stuff. It just sounds like he knows he is the odd man out.
FAH!
ReplyDeleteBOOK IT! PUT IT ON A T-SHIRT!
Well played, Scottie!
ReplyDeleteTakes talent to be #1 when Blogger is down! Way to go, scottie b!
ReplyDeleteSlo as mayo
ReplyDeleteyou think Meyer or Saban cares about blogger being down? you just get in there and do what you need to do! full speed every play, every drill, every post. ;)
ReplyDeletethanks peeps.
Tyrick tha freak will be the QB before the arkansas game. book it.
ReplyDeleteI just don't have a good feeling about Todd - not at all.
ReplyDeleteCaudle didn't seem too excited there. Todd got a chuckle out of your question. nice.
ReplyDelete"Hungry...hungry to win. That's impressive."
ReplyDeleteYes, Coach Taylor, it is.
You can't make the blog if your log is in a fog!
ReplyDeleteFAHABOTN!
ReplyDeleteHow could you have a good feeling about Todd after watching him screw up passes that my 14 year old niece can make. yeah yeah blah blah bad shoulder....we shall see soon enough if he has what it takes.
ReplyDeleteAnd my money says he doesnt and neither does kodi.
Caudle or Rollison...just do it.
Jay G ...
ReplyDeleteDo you have any comment on the travails of Richard Pitino, basketball coach?
Jay G, what do you think about this shocking news that Pitino is a philanderer?
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to Bentons first TD catch.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is gonna be a huge player for us I think.Stallworth also, If you remember ESPN said Stallworth was our best recruit.
Ah Ricky Pitino, at least his mistress didn't shoot him in his sleep.
ReplyDeleteMcNair joke ftw!
ReplyDeleteDarnit, Jet. I've been waiting an hour to ask that question.
ReplyDeleteAnyone hear about goggans gettin hurt in practice this mornin?
ReplyDeleteBad on taste, high on humor.
ReplyDeleteLow in sodium
ReplyDeleteGotta admit I have a little bit of a mancrush on Trooper Taylor. Intensity! Love it.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who cares - U.S. and Mexico tied 1-1 at half.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great interview Trooper Taylor is. I don't remember seeing a whole lot of position coach interviews the last few years. Trooper is just that good.
ReplyDeleteCareful ... chocoscott ...
ReplyDeleteour fearless leader may be taping and not want to know.
Today is the second time this summer that I've had to watch a USA-Mexico soccer match in Espanol because none of the English channels on my cable are carrying it. ReplyDeleteUSA!! USA!! USA!!
ReplyDeleteOoof, good point. I'll refrain from further updates unless asked.
ReplyDeleteooops usa.usa.usa.
ReplyDeleteI do have to say that the Telemundo color guy is both easier to understand and less of an idiot than the Univision color guy.
ReplyDeleteUSA is now up 6-1!!!! US and A!!! US and A!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTrooper should be the QB coach. He'd get their ends in gear in no time! NO INTS!
ReplyDeleteNO PICKS!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I hope when the first AU receiver runs an 8-yard pattern on 3rd and 9 that Trooper pries the first down marker out of the official's hands and stabs the offending receiver with it.
ReplyDeleteMake it to the Stick or the Stick will make it to you!
Nooj....is your affinity for the untested players chronic or coincidence?
ReplyDeleteRECEIVER ON A STICK!
ReplyDeleteWR on a stick
ReplyDeleteIt sounds pretty loud in Azteca.
ReplyDeletewhat'd you say PF????
ReplyDeletenot unfunny, scottie.
ReplyDeleteU.S. looking like AU 2008 right now - all defense, no offense.
ReplyDeleteWell hoopie, We have seen Todd and Burns take the test and fail miserably. I would rather give a test to someone that might pass it rather than give it over and over again to a D student. You know what your goin to get with Todd an Burns....nothing.
ReplyDeleteTrooper may be leading cheers before the game. This guy oozes with enthusiasm!!
ReplyDeleteNooj - I don't know who is the right choice, but you do have to remember...it's a different professor this time.
ReplyDeleteI just dont see why some of you want Todd to start, the kid cant get it done.
ReplyDeleteWe are most likely gonna suck this year anyway so why not give caudle(a jr) or Rollison the reigns and get them experience for the future instead of letting Tony Todd throw ducks all year and then be right back where we are know next season?
now not know...sorry
ReplyDeleteTrue we have a different teacher but......
ReplyDeleteWhy not prepare for the future test now rather than drag it out to next year?
Todd will be gone,Rollison would still not have game experience and we will be right back in the same boat.
And Todd sucks(lets not forget this valid point)
Nooj ...
ReplyDeleteI'll say this ... if Caudle were Mr. Thing ... he would have played more by now.
I partially agree with you ... let's see how Tyrik does because I have a suspicion he's our more talented QB on campus.
But dismissing Todd without seeing how his shoulder is, just to give Caudle a chance, well, that's where you and I depart on this one.
I kind of lean toward Caudle but everyone seems to say Todd's arm strength is back. He did make some decent decisions last year but he tended to hold the ball too long.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, Nooj...where you around when everyone said Jason Campbell sucked and couldn't get it done? I was. I'm not cheering for anyone in particular to win the job this year. I just don't know how you know with such certainty that Rollison or Caudle is the answer.
ReplyDeleteNooj Tyrik qualified.
ReplyDeleteGood point Jet. But my thing is this.
ReplyDeleteNone of them are Mr.
The future is now!
Yes I was living in AU during the Cambell thing.Im not saying I wont support whomever the coaches choose.
ReplyDeleteJust saying that why not play someone that is going to be here for a while if they are all equal in talent?
Tyrick qualified??? This is GREAT news Monica....thank you for that!
The exciting thing is, no matter who is QB, the OL has beefed up and experienced and we have some receivers that look to be capable.
ReplyDeleteThat's a big + from last yr.
Not to mention I could go the rest of my life without seeing TOdd run the QB option handoff thingy with a straight face and act like he is a threat to keep the ball! That was painful.
ReplyDeleteHomie just got burnt in the soccer game.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree weagle.
ReplyDeleteThe O-Line looks to be back to form beefy and ready to prove something.
WRs also will be a big suprise if you ask me. They will be much improved....D-LO is gonna go off.
That I can agree with, Nooj.
ReplyDeleteOn a non-AU related note, Crap!
I'll tell coach Gus who to start as soon as he asks me.
ReplyDeleteIn the meanwhile I'm just going to take the verbal beatdown for not choosing whoever the deliverer of verbal beatdown wants me to choose.
I didn't even know my power of choosing QBs.
Did anyone see Saban signing the baby the other day at fan day?
ReplyDeleteAll I could think of was :
This child now has the mark of the beast and his parents should be stoned for allowing a used car salesman to deface their child........
I HATE BAMMERS....sorry had to get that out of my system.
Feel much better now.
Well said Aeronaut
ReplyDelete"Im no expert but I do know that Rollison is in a whole other league as far as upside"
ReplyDeleteRewind 365 days, replace Rollison with Burns.
Brent Poole for QB
ReplyDeleteDo we have any walkon QBs? if so, I expect one of them to emerge as a star around the TN game, earn the starting spot, and retain it the rest of the year.
ReplyDeleteJay G,
ReplyDeleteThe other day when you said the new media guide is worthless, you couldn't be more correct.
They have stripped the media guide of everything.
Listen, Aeronut.
ReplyDeleteStand up and be counted.
Are you on the Toddzilla Watch with SteveFC?
Are you on the Rollison Express with Eddie?
Are you with Caudle and ________?
Or are you with Kodi and RK? (Just kiddin' RK).
Ah, Jet you jokester.
ReplyDeleteI trust the staff too man just stating my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion is that TOdd will get us beat by trying to prove his shoulder is ok.which even if it is....one hit from a dlineman and he is out.
World Cup dreams are slipping away.
ReplyDeleteBrent Poole FTW.
ReplyDeleteI bought a ticket on the rollison express on about Feb. 9, 1009.
ReplyDeleteI just want the best guy out there at QB.....and the best guy is clearly Rollison.
ReplyDeleteIf you cant tell that then you dont have much experience arm chair quarterbacking like I do. hahahaha.
The best guy out there at QB is Tim Tebow, can we have him?
ReplyDeleteOh, you meant the best guy in our locker room.
U.S. should qualify anyway. Mexico needed the game worse than we did.
ReplyDeleteRollinson will not start a game this year.
ReplyDeleteCaudle will.
Nooj.
ReplyDeleteIf this coaching staff thinks that Rollison is ready ( age : 17 ) and strong enough ( height 6 ft 2, weight 185 lbs ) to face SEC defenses behind our OL, they will put him in play.

By the way .. pic = saban signing baby ---->
If Saban tried to get near my baby, I would deck him.
ReplyDeleteI'm not kidding.
ditto Aero's last several comments for me, thanks
ReplyDeleteIt's ROLLISON.
ReplyDeletere Pitino: Sucks for him and now the Pope is pissed.
re media guide: I don't carry one with me anymore. Why would I? They're not recruiting me.
Dost thou jest, Jay G, is it truly Rollison?

I think JGT is referring to misspellings (Rollinson vs. Rollison), not who is starting. If so, JGT, just be glad Blake Field(s) is not around to be one of the contenders.
ReplyDeleteI think JGT was telling someone the spelling of the word / name, and not who the starting QB is going to be.
ReplyDeleteIt's either that, or wishful thinking on my part.
Yaay. Moniker agrees with me, including Brent Poole as QB?
Ah, I didn't read the above, I just saw that and had a fit. Back to normal.
ReplyDeleteWeird question, but does anyone know what the first row is above the concourse in JH?
ReplyDeleteConsidering the power of my vote for QB, yes I'll agree with you on Poole.
ReplyDelete:-)

ReplyDeleteScottChocolate
ReplyDeleteThank you for stealing my thunder etc. I just can't get myself to argue with a guy whose last name is a decadent delightful delicacy.
I just don't see why he couldn't be another Pat White, he started from day one, won a couple of conference championships and 4 bowl games...
ReplyDeleteMonica - queen of the buzzkill
ReplyDeleteMon,
ReplyDeleteI wish Gov't Mule would do one of their Halloween shows somewhere close.
I wonder what band/album they will pick this year to cover? I have the CD of the show two years ago where they do Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" and that was very nice.
At first glance I thought it said Pittsburgh, PA and I was falsely excited. I'd love to see one of their Halloween shows.
ReplyDeleteHH - What did I do???
Just yanking you chain.
ReplyDeleteGov't Mule either puts me to sleep or makes me want to whip a mule.
What do you all think Chizik jams out to on the way home?
Oh and my mind is made up - it's got to be Kodi Burns ya'll.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great redemption story it will be when he hoists the Heisman as a senior.
Disney will probably make a movie out of that.
Ahhhh Bach....I mean ROLLISON.
ReplyDelete(I will never post another mistake)
I just went back and listened to Coach Dye's segment on Finebaum yesterday.
ReplyDeleteHe is a hoot.
Nooj....you were touting unproven QBs and WRs over players that have been around, thus my question regarding your affinity. I wasn't choosing sides.
ReplyDeleteStill wondering if you always want the new guys or just this year.
For example, in 2007 did you want Kodi to start over BCox?
What does he play when he drives? Probably his press conference coach-speak from his last coaching gig.
ReplyDeleteThe words are the same. Exactly the same. He has them memorized.
When Kodi hoists that Heisman his senior year, will it be because they let him move Bo or Pat's into the new basketball arena's museum?
ReplyDeleteFSJ
ReplyDeleteAre you calling paul finebammer a hoot?
RK....that's cold...but good
ReplyDeleteThe sleep inducing CGC press conferences will eventually be outlawed for play in an automobile.
ReplyDeleteI say we start Brannon Fields Rollinson
ReplyDeleteWork just REALLY got in the way. Thanks for maintaining threadiness everyone.
ReplyDeleteI think that it'll eventually come down between Kelcy Luke, Allen Tillman, Jeff Klein, Meiko Collier, Blake Field, Josh Sullivan or Calvin Booker.
ReplyDeleteI mean, at one time, those guys were the future of the program in someones eyes.
ReplyDeleteChiz strikes me as Wagner kinda guy.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot Gabe Gross and Jon Cooley.
ReplyDeleteWell Areo, you know, nobody argued with Darryl Dawkins either. Exact same reason, too!
ReplyDeletePffft...none of them could hold Clayton Beauford's jock.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Beauford a WR?
ReplyDeleteNow none of them are Carter Beauford.
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying ... Auburn fans should know how to spell their most talented quarterback's name correctly. He's new so you're still within the grace period, but time is a-wastin'.

ReplyDeleteSpongeworthy speaks the truth.
ReplyDeleteThe only factual evidence you have to compare is take Burns/Todd/Caudle's past performances vs well nothing, because nobody knows about Rollison yet.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, it's almost even money when you look at it that way.
I like how from 5:38 to 5:54 everyone had a double post
ReplyDeletefurthermore, if we are about to redshirt a few older receivers so we can play our freshmen, then we are really going to suck. after 4 days of practice, our 17 yr olds are that good? I think that says a lot about whats on the field right now more than how good our freshmen are.

ReplyDeleteI do believe a healthy Kodi would look like a healthy Kodi though.
Burns is also highly talented. Todd was also a highly ranked recruit out of high school. Mosely is a "winner".
ReplyDeletePicking Rollison out of the pack is a little premature.
ill agree with that war. not saying what we have is great, but we dont really KNOW just yet. we better hope that we only have to play a few young guys.
ReplyDelete1981 QB rotation: Ken Hobby, Charles Thomas, Joe Sullivan, and...Clayton Beauford. Sounds about like this year's prospects. Hope that's not the case!
ReplyDeletelol scott i was there for that one. remember hobby fumbled in the rain at UT. we were driving and could have won that game.
ReplyDeleteOh, there was also John Murphy in 1981. All five of those guys played at some point. I'll have to admit to only remembering the first four I named.
ReplyDeletei cant believe there were so many kids in the tub instead of practicing the last few day. and we werent even in the pads yet. NOT a good sign.
ReplyDeleteBig Cat made the best point here. I have no problem with Rollison playing, but bringing him along slowly just like Meyer did Tebow makes much better sense. Remember when Tebow was behind Leak? Who was the most talented? You go with experience.

Anyhoo, I do have decent memories of beating Florida that year. We also beat LSU, but I don't remember that very well. I guess 'cause they weren't a big rival back then.
ReplyDeleterecall that last year, todd wouldnt let go of the ball. held it way too long. hopefully that was because he knew he couldnt make the throws but just sayin.
ReplyDeleteFYI: Burns, of all people, was working as the No. 1 Wildcat guy today.
ReplyDeleteSponge, I agree. It is very important this season that we get some experience for someone other than Todd. It will also help him in terms of not getting beat up. There have been too many games where we could have gotten a backup QB experience and didn't.
ReplyDeleteBurns as the wild cat QB wouldn't make a lot of sense unless he is going to play another position. One of the keys to the wildcat is that the QB becomes another receiver which the defense must cover and you basically have another runner as the QB.
ReplyDeletescott. i dont remember a lot of those games. probably more due to the rum and coke, the standard drink of the day in 81. i believe we gave uat a good game until bear put linnie patrick in after halftime. wasnt his first touch about a 50 yard td run. anyway, i think that was the game.
ReplyDeletejay can you say transfer....burns....if he doesnt start? cant see him happy as a wildcat. agree, also that we need a stronger runner in that position.
ReplyDeleteSo, Burns is the #1 RB that can throw the ball :)!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteeddie. can he throw it? if he could would be be a wildcat?
ReplyDeleteRollison will play this year. I know I started the Rollison Express, (Thanks Nooj for purchasing your general cabin seat Ticket), but I would really like to see him play significant snaps each and every game and ease his way into the starting roll. I do think he will start a game this fall.
ReplyDeleteI think he will be as effective throwing the ball as Ronnie Brown is for the Dolphins. ;)
ReplyDeleteUnless Burns were in the offense regularly at another position, him coming into the game would be a signal that we were going to run the wildcat. It would harken back to the days of Baby Bowden when anytime we went into the shotgun meant we were going to throw. It could have been more obvious if they put it on the jumbo tron, but I think every opponent already new it, so it was pointless.
ReplyDeletei hope he is that good eddie. just need to see it myself before declaring him defacto starter. If he is as talented as some say, he may very well be the best long term solution. sure wish trotter hadnt gotten hurt.
ReplyDeleteEddie, I am with you on this. I would even like to see Malzahn tell whoever the starter is that Rollison will come in and lead a series or two. It doesn't mean they are changing QBs. It just means they want an experienced backup.
ReplyDeleteim out till later. school supply shopping.
ReplyDeleteSpongeworthy- I'm declaring him defacto starter, i'm just saying he will play and I have it from 2 pretty good sources that indicate that, and one has done so since the Spring Practice concluded. I just hope they work him in and get him reps slowly.
ReplyDeletedisappointing loss in azteca today. really wanted that one. i would lean towards todd starting. if his shoulder hasn't improved, they should be wasting practice time on him.
ReplyDeleteMy head is about to explode from wondering who will be the starter at QB
ReplyDeleteI wish the coaches would give us a riddle that, when we figured it out, would contain a clue as to who they might leaning towards
Sponge, you may not see this, but I had to youtube that '81 IB. We were up 17-14 with about 12 minutes left in the 4th. Bendross and Patrick killed us after that.
ReplyDeleteBtw, Lionel James. George Peoples and Al Del Greco accounted for AU's points.
LOL I like your idea Snow
ReplyDeleteJust a thought, but maybe the coaches know who the starter is going to be(Todd IMO) and by playing the two freshmen, were actually looking to see how Rollison handled things for more than a few snaps in a row.
ReplyDeleteI think it is Todd and then Rollison as #2 and Rollison will play a good but by the end of the 4th game and could possibly be the starter by the end of the season. You know, just use Todd t oget you through the early part of the season and give Rollison some playing time as the season progresses and then we have someone with experience for 2010.
What do you guys think of that?
BTW-got my tickets today.
ReplyDeleteWill it be too late at about 6:15pm CT on September 5th to turn in my answer for the first games starting QB?

wtc, I made that call over a week ago. I also predicted Kodi as a situational player and Caudle moving to slot and Wildcat (least likely to happen).
ReplyDeleteI will give you credit then NOVA. I think that is the way it plays out.
ReplyDeleteAre there really that many original opinions of what's going to happen?
ReplyDeleteNaw, we're all just repeating the same opinions from spring.
ReplyDeletejust making sure. :-P
ReplyDeleteI still say kodi sees the field in the slot, that's about it for him. I think it's todd or caudle, if tyrik beats them out, good for him, i hope he wins em all. Destin trip sucked, rained about an hour into our water parkin so we went to the gulfarium and watched the dophins jump and stuff, kiddo had a great time, that's what it was all about.
ReplyDeleteI am really sick of QB conjecture. Some decisions will have to be made by next week, right, RIGHT?!?!
ReplyDeleteehyou- We should hope so. On a non-QB note, it sounds like Onterio McCaleb is tearing it up this fall. I wonder just how big his role will be this fall.
ReplyDeleteEhyou I agree. Unless there is some sort of "surprise attack" madness going on here, it's gotta be worked out within the next week and a half.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't wait a week and a half.
ReplyDeleteI think the top 2 will become apparent in the next several days.
ReplyDeleteSome have to start getting more snaps than others.
ReplyDeleteAnd just because decisions are made doesn't necessarily mean that we'll know what they are.
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing reports that Tyrik did look the best yesterday. This QB race is going to be darn interesting. I look forward to the year that we don't wonder who the QB will be and hopefully that year is next year!
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions on getting tix to LSU game other than E-bay?
ReplyDeleteEddie...
ReplyDeleteI don't want to hear anything about Rollison on the podcast.
snow...
ReplyDeleteNothing that doesn't involve a gun.
And I've heard you need one just to attend a game in Baton Rouge.
ReplyDeleteIf you're a fan of the opposition.
Steve, the QB doesn't have to be a receiver in the wildcat...in fact the regular QB doesn't even have to be on the field.
ReplyDeleteehYou- you will have to tune and see. We go live in a minute!
ReplyDeleteI hope Tyrik looked good. He was going against the second team D, and we all know how deep the defense is this year.
ReplyDeleteThe tale is in the numbers:
ReplyDeleteSeries participated in yesterday:
Caudle- 2
Burns- 2
Todd- 2
Mosely- 1
Rollison- 6
when do the new practice notes come in?
ReplyDeleteMy thought exactly PDWD...
ReplyDeletePDWT, sorry.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to listen to the insider podcast, but it sounded awful. Lots of "snow".
ReplyDeletewhen was the practice tonight? but growing up around my dad as a football coach i know things in football practice arent always on time, especially afterwards
ReplyDeleteI think the coaches played the young guys more overall because that's who they needed to see and who needed to experience game conditions.
ReplyDeleteI'd be more convinced if that was the ratio of practice snaps.
Is there a worse movie than Smoky and the Bandit 3, its on one of the HBO channels and its sooo bad even Burt REynolds turned it down, he only makes a 1 minute cameo
ReplyDeleteJay G- We are live from inside the practice and Chizik has us silenced.
ReplyDeleteJay G.,
ReplyDeleteBlogtalkradio.com infrastructure is not 100% reliable from time to time.
Many times the live feed is "fuzzier" than the podcast.
Ok I thought of a movie worse than that, any version of Iron Eagle after the first one. Sad thing is Louis Gossett Jr was in all of them.
ReplyDeleteSmokey 3 was awful. Bad movies are like a train wreck for me - I know I shouldn't look, yet I can't help it.

ReplyDeleteThanks, ehyou.
ReplyDeleteSensi...
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself thirty sixed to nothing.
Good job tonight on the podcast.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight all.
THanks ehyou!
ReplyDeleteJGT or any Hotties,
ReplyDeletewhat ring does Trooper wear? it friggin huge
Kirk- It's a UT ring. I think maybe a 2004 ring, that is the only type championship he was there for, an Eastern Div. Championship.
ReplyDeleteno way. It's a secret decoder ring.
ReplyDeleteIn the video, does K Burns come off like he is defeated. It sounds like he is whining a bit with the, it's tough to get a rhythm, blah, blah stuff. It just sounds like he knows he is the odd man out.
ReplyDeleteyes
ReplyDeleteThanks for not leaving me hangin' Mon.
ReplyDeleteI think it is pretty obvious who will be quarterback.
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm here for you, WTC.
