I'd normally chalk it up to a slow radio day, but we're in the middle of football season. Is it slow? You'll have to draw your own conclusions there.
I heard Scott Van Pelt break out a big WAR EAGLE during the late ESPN highlights around midnight CDT. He was praising Ronnie Brown, now of Miami Dolphins fame, for his world with the Wild Fish offense.
Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

Doin' What We Do
ReplyDeleteQuick fingers this morning, ehyou.
ReplyDeleteI've been practicing.
ReplyDeleteScott Van Pelt is the man.
ReplyDeleteFrom the previous thread ... I wouldn't worry about listening to Donald Jackson.
ReplyDeleteHe's the definition of a gadfly.
Will some TV asshat ask Coach about the "hot topic" at the presser today?
ReplyDeleteearly post today. me likey! ;)
ReplyDeletemornin' den of hottness.
2:1 says Chizik will say he doesn't know anything about that.
ReplyDelete2:1 Coach doesn't say anything of interest...ever.
ReplyDeleteehyou, you're such a one-upper.
ReplyDeleteDid any of your futebol fans see that Manchester Derby on Sunday? I just saw the DVR version. In-friggin-credible.
ReplyDeletemorning all
ReplyDeleteJay G, the only futbol I've seen lately was Arsenal taking Wigan to the woodshed. I need to DVR more FSC.
ReplyDeletehow about Ronnie Brown last nite? that's my boy. i can't believe the Colts pulled it out. dang that Peyton Manning.
ReplyDeleteGood morning to you, bigdaddy
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blurb about the recruits in the Notebook. I had heard there were some there but nothing else.
ReplyDeleteLORAN CARTER!
ReplyDeletenice work, Scottie B! I saw several AU QBs before Loran Carter, but he's the first I really knew by name at the time I was watching him.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm still a bit unsettled about the team I saw Saturday night. Without dramatic improvement in many facets of the game, we could easily end up 6-5 by the end of preseason.
Well, it's my second day on the ark but i'm glad to be at work, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteThis Trooper Taylor talk is just freakin crazy IMO. A lot of pot stirring seems to be going on in this matter.
The Colts won last night because Pennington just isn't a good NFL QB.
ReplyDeleteHe wasted over a min of the 3:10 they had the ball on their last drive and wasted their one time out.
How you can keep the ball 46 mins of an NFL game and lose is amazing to me.
THT, LC has now found a warm spot in my heart. i had to show some love.
ReplyDeleteit's a great feeling to know that we're going into every game with not only a chance to compete, but a chance to win.
Jay-appreciate the reporting on AU and the info about Jackson.
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while I listen to some talk radio to remind myslef why I usually don't listen to talk radio. The local show in Montgomery is AWFUL. I thought it was bad when Fyffe and Amos talked your favorite BBQ recipe, but that is much better than this stuff now.
RK, i disagree with you about Chad Pennington. i think he's a good NFL QB, but that 3.5 minute drill was absolutely putrid.
ReplyDeletei finally watched the CTT clip everybody has been talking about. if he said it, who cares? why is it an issue? every freakin' rap song i hear says it. doesn't bother me at all. doesn't matter if he coaches at AU or UA or UT. i guess somebody needs something negative to talk about.
It was a bizarre game WERK. The Colts DL was absolutely punished.
ReplyDelete8:42 kickoff is obscenely late BTW.
Asked whether he was worried about the flu also hitting Tennessee, Kiffin said: "I don't know. I guess we'll wait and after we're not excited about a performance, we'll tell you everybody was sick."
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. Seems both Texas and Florida are using the old "They had the flu" excuse. How convenient.
You know, I hate Kiffin, but he just might grow on me. I hated Spurrier too, once.
Michael - I like that your copy/paste has an auto spell correction function.
ReplyDeletePennington completes a lot of 7 yard passes and his % always looks good and he doesn't make huge mistakes, but he doesn't make many plays either.
ReplyDeleteThe Chiz to Trooper:
ReplyDeleteNo mic!
hehehe... yeah THT, I noticed the red underlines the second time through.
ReplyDeleteThis is what happens when you open a thread, continue working, finally comment on a thread, then look back to see if there were any responses only to realize the thread had been closed for 15 minutes. Copy/paste/spell check, and boom, you have a post that gives people deja vu!
Everyone should check out "Auburn Rainstorm" on Youtube. It's the crowd and students during rain delay- better than the other video's I've seen. Only Auburn fans would sing and cheer during a monsoon!
ReplyDeleteThe folks running my conference indicated it would take an hour to get through security for Vice President Biden's address. It took less than 45 seconds. I've had more stringent screenings at the Gump International Airport.
ReplyDeleteMorning Hottnesses,
ReplyDeleteScottie B, i watched Ronnie play last night and had some how forgotten how he has the ability to look like he is getting tackled for a 7 or 8 yard loss and then bust forward or a 1 or 2 yard gain. Just a great player. some glad we had him.
the reason Miami lost that game was not pennington, it was because of ginn jr. that kid dropped 2 TD passes and both hit him in the hands. guess you just can't rely on oh st players in high pressure situations.
* so.....not some
ReplyDeleteJet, My neighbor has moved up considerably in his state gubmint job and refuses to move up further. He now votes Republican.
ReplyDeleteBurress sentenced to 2 years prison today.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Dolphins blew it when they played for the field-goal in the 4th qtr. How can you go for 3 when Manning is going to get the ball back?
ReplyDeletePeyton Manning - breaking Auburn hearts since 1997.
ReplyDeletei had forgotten about the Ginn drop. another reason i hate Ohio State.
ReplyDeletePay-Me-A-Ton Manning, always the bridesmaid, never the bride. See Charles Woodson and Tom Brady. Even Kurt Warner has more Super Bowl appearances.
ReplyDeleteAU breaking Mannings knee since that same time...but still having our hearts broken.
ReplyDeleteman, that sounded way better in my head.
Loran Carter...wow, scottie B, that brings back memories. I've got an old auburn program that LC and Shug autographed. Fun times.
ReplyDelete2 drops Scottie, there was another in the end zone in the first half.
ReplyDeleteShalom
ReplyDeletethat's cool Tracy. i'm about to add a L.Carter autograph to my collection. i sill don't have a Shug. :( lucky you.
ReplyDeleteAUNugget, you're not helping. now i want to go buy a bag of buckeyes and smash them the rest of the day.
jhag finally made it to school!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, damn this place
ReplyDeleteSo at my office in Atlan(is)a it is probably 85 percent humidity and miserable.
ReplyDeleteScottieB - we have a large print of a golden eagle signed by Coach Jordan. I'm thinking it's from mid/late 70s. It hung on the wall for the longest time until last year when I hung a big map in its place. Please don't have the Alumni Association revoke my membership.
ReplyDeleteHow about a live blog from the VP's address on health care reform? Anyone? Anyone?
ReplyDeleteDidn't think so.
THT, it sounds like Coach Jordan needs a new home. say, in east tennessee?
ReplyDeletehowever, a red challenge flag has been thrown at your membership. it is pending review.
throw anything red my way and i'll burn it in a heartbeat!
ReplyDeleteburn the challenge flag. save the couches.
ReplyDeleteJet, what happens if someone calls him a liar?
ReplyDeleteScottieB- your shrine would be a better place for it than our upstairs storage room, but I don't think you can convince MrsTHT of that.
ReplyDeleteshoes get thrown.
ReplyDeleteDid Monica go on vacation or something? I haven't seen her lately.
ReplyDeletethat's what makes MrsTHT AUsome. well, that and she bakes a mean cookie. ;)
ReplyDeleteSean - Mon is on temporary or permanent HABOTN sabbatical
ReplyDeleteThe representative from So. Carolina said in open session that he would withhold his comments until after the speech.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I left last night to watch the Manncolts play the Brownfish. Missed a good discussion. The pointed head boss in Dilbert said it best
ReplyDelete"When you find a big kettle of crazy , its best not to stir it".
nice quote digger.
ReplyDeleteFor those interested, I've just posted my Ball State Game Preview:
ReplyDeleteBall State Game Preview
Hope You Enjoy.
wildcat runner I saw that in the paper and just thought it was appropriate for last night.
ReplyDeleteEddie good read enjoyed it.
Would like to see us pass heavily and score a bunch quickly, then hand the game over to the 2nd squad before BSt is worn out. This scenerio gives us a better opportunity to see what the 2nd squad can do.
ReplyDeleteJust cut that Dilbert strip out to tack on my wall Digger - I spit my mashed potatoes out at lunch when I read it.
ReplyDeleteConnventional football wisdom says to do a lot of hitting and fundamentals work in practice this week since not much gameplanning is needed...ah..tackling.
