First Post: Tuesday of Week Four

Hey everyone. I listened to The Trooper Taylor Video® about 200 times yesterday and I just don't hear the offending word. Wifey seems more convinced (ie 50%) that Taylor said a bad word ... though neither of us would consider it a scandal had he said a bad word.

I'd normally chalk it up to a slow radio day, but we're in the middle of football season. Is it slow? You'll have to draw your own conclusions there.

I heard Scott Van Pelt break out a big WAR EAGLE during the late ESPN highlights around midnight CDT. He was praising Ronnie Brown, now of Miami Dolphins fame, for his world with the Wild Fish offense.

Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

  5. From the previous thread ... I wouldn't worry about listening to Donald Jackson.

He's the definition of a gadfly.

  6. Will some TV asshat ask Coach about the "hot topic" at the presser today?

  11. Did any of your futebol fans see that Manchester Derby on Sunday? I just saw the DVR version. In-friggin-credible.

  12. Jay G, the only futbol I've seen lately was Arsenal taking Wigan to the woodshed. I need to DVR more FSC.

  13. how about Ronnie Brown last nite? that's my boy. i can't believe the Colts pulled it out. dang that Peyton Manning.

  14. Good morning to you, bigdaddy

  15. Thanks for the blurb about the recruits in the Notebook. I had heard there were some there but nothing else.

  16. nice work, Scottie B! I saw several AU QBs before Loran Carter, but he's the first I really knew by name at the time I was watching him.

Well, I'm still a bit unsettled about the team I saw Saturday night. Without dramatic improvement in many facets of the game, we could easily end up 6-5 by the end of preseason.

  17. Well, it's my second day on the ark but i'm glad to be at work, I suppose.

This Trooper Taylor talk is just freakin crazy IMO. A lot of pot stirring seems to be going on in this matter.

  18. The Colts won last night because Pennington just isn't a good NFL QB.

He wasted over a min of the 3:10 they had the ball on their last drive and wasted their one time out.

How you can keep the ball 46 mins of an NFL game and lose is amazing to me.

  19. THT, LC has now found a warm spot in my heart. i had to show some love.

it's a great feeling to know that we're going into every game with not only a chance to compete, but a chance to win.

  20. Jay-appreciate the reporting on AU and the info about Jackson.

Every once in a while I listen to some talk radio to remind myslef why I usually don't listen to talk radio. The local show in Montgomery is AWFUL. I thought it was bad when Fyffe and Amos talked your favorite BBQ recipe, but that is much better than this stuff now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. RK, i disagree with you about Chad Pennington. i think he's a good NFL QB, but that 3.5 minute drill was absolutely putrid.

i finally watched the CTT clip everybody has been talking about. if he said it, who cares? why is it an issue? every freakin' rap song i hear says it. doesn't bother me at all. doesn't matter if he coaches at AU or UA or UT. i guess somebody needs something negative to talk about.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It was a bizarre game WERK. The Colts DL was absolutely punished.

8:42 kickoff is obscenely late BTW.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Asked whether he was worried about the flu also hitting Tennessee, Kiffin said: "I don't know. I guess we'll wait and after we're not excited about a performance, we'll tell you everybody was sick."

I was thinking the same thing. Seems both Texas and Florida are using the old "They had the flu" excuse. How convenient.

You know, I hate Kiffin, but he just might grow on me. I hated Spurrier too, once.

  24. Michael - I like that your copy/paste has an auto spell correction function.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Pennington completes a lot of 7 yard passes and his % always looks good and he doesn't make huge mistakes, but he doesn't make many plays either.

  27. hehehe... yeah THT, I noticed the red underlines the second time through.

This is what happens when you open a thread, continue working, finally comment on a thread, then look back to see if there were any responses only to realize the thread had been closed for 15 minutes. Copy/paste/spell check, and boom, you have a post that gives people deja vu!

  28. Everyone should check out "Auburn Rainstorm" on Youtube. It's the crowd and students during rain delay- better than the other video's I've seen. Only Auburn fans would sing and cheer during a monsoon!

  29. The folks running my conference indicated it would take an hour to get through security for Vice President Biden's address. It took less than 45 seconds. I've had more stringent screenings at the Gump International Airport.

  30. Morning Hottnesses,

Scottie B, i watched Ronnie play last night and had some how forgotten how he has the ability to look like he is getting tackled for a 7 or 8 yard loss and then bust forward or a 1 or 2 yard gain. Just a great player. some glad we had him.

the reason Miami lost that game was not pennington, it was because of ginn jr. that kid dropped 2 TD passes and both hit him in the hands. guess you just can't rely on oh st players in high pressure situations.

  35. i had forgotten about the Ginn drop. another reason i hate Ohio State.

  36. Pay-Me-A-Ton Manning, always the bridesmaid, never the bride. See Charles Woodson and Tom Brady. Even Kurt Warner has more Super Bowl appearances.

  37. AU breaking Mannings knee since that same time...but still having our hearts broken.

man, that sounded way better in my head.

  38. Loran Carter...wow, scottie B, that brings back memories. I've got an old auburn program that LC and Shug autographed. Fun times.

  39. 2 drops Scottie, there was another in the end zone in the first half.

  40. that's cool Tracy. i'm about to add a L.Carter autograph to my collection. i sill don't have a Shug. :( lucky you.

  44. ScottieB - we have a large print of a golden eagle signed by Coach Jordan. I'm thinking it's from mid/late 70s. It hung on the wall for the longest time until last year when I hung a big map in its place. Please don't have the Alumni Association revoke my membership.

  45. How about a live blog from the VP's address on health care reform? Anyone? Anyone?

    Didn't think so.

  46. THT, it sounds like Coach Jordan needs a new home. say, in east tennessee?

however, a red challenge flag has been thrown at your membership. it is pending review.

Would like to see us pass heavily and score a bunch quickly, then hand the game over to the 2nd squad before BSt is worn out. This scenerio gives us a better opportunity to see what the 2nd squad can do.
